Very good book if you don't know which beach resort to go to in Mexico. We knew we were going to Ixtapa but had never been to Mexico before. This book had the most comprehensive information on Ixtapa compared to others I looked at on the shelf. Written very lighthearted, honest and to the point. Good general information in the first couple of chapters about traveling into Mexico and what to expect (money, food, customs, culture, etc.). I found that the information was very acurate in its referrals in all areas (restaurants, lodging, places to go, night spots). I will keep this book to help me make a decision on which place to visit in Mexico next trip!

Robert Lehman and his father, Philip Lehman, purchased textiles with the same well-trained eyes they used to acquire paintings, drawings, and decorative arts in general. Among the most distinguished and widely admired objects in the Collection are two series of embroidered roundels from fifteenth-century Flanders and four large tapestries, including the Last Supper after Bernaert van Orley that is arguably the finest Renaissance tapestry in an American collection. The Collection also includes a great number of ecclesiastical vestments and panels of magnificent silks and velvets in a vast array of techniques and styles that span more than six centuries. Many of these textiles were used to decorate the Lehman town house in Manhattan, as hangings, covers, or upholstery. They represent sixty-five years of assembling, owning, and living with historical fabrics on a day-to-day basis, and for scholars and laymen alike they document an American style of living and interior decoration that has largely disappeared.

Very Good Ideas.......1999-06-18

I really enjoyed reading the book. It sounded great on paper, but because I am a novice and first time dog owner, it was easier to read than put into action. The shaking/tossing can trick did wonders in the beginning, but according to the book, you have to keep it a secret from the dog that it is you who is tossing the can. Well, needless to say this was almost impossible. My pup put two and two together in no time and suddenly the can trick didn't work anymore. Also, it was difficult to teach my dog to heel without seeing a trainer do it in person. But I really like Fabian's attitude and many other things about the book, so it's worth reading and taking what you can from it.

Written in an easy-to-read and use manner........1998-01-04

I have self-trained my dog to work as a seizure alert dog for me and I know that if I had had this book to guide me back then, it would have been a lot easier. Written in a way that makes the reader think he or she is having a private training session, Ms. Arden and Mr. Robinson have combined to make a winning volume. There is no doubt that they can train any dog to be a most wonderful companion.

The subject of this volume is the historical development of shintô and national thought in premodern and modern Japan. After examining the first instances of shintô-confucian syncretism in the early Edo period, the author investigates the function of shintô as a religious system to legitimize political power and explores how during the late Edo period this culminates in the concept of a specific Japanese national polity(kokutai).

Though the main caesurae in the process of modern Japanese history (e.g. Meiji restoration and the end of the Pacific War in 1945) play a dominant role in this context, the author points out that the main historical, religious and ideological continuities are of much greater importance; The ideas and concepts elaborated by shintô thinkers during the Edo period became reality in modern Japan.

Great look at a still underrated filmmaker.......2005-07-14

The focus of this volume is Mr. Eastwood the director, and this book collects a good variety of American and international interviews with him discussing his process, from PLAY MISTY FOR ME and THE OUTLAW JOSEY WALES to BIRD and UNFORGIVEN and up through MIDNIGHT IN THE GARDEN OF GOOD & EVIL (the book was published in '99, so of course it does not feature any of his works from this new century). If after MILLION DOLLAR BABY you're finally starting to come around and see Eastwood the artist, this book is a great negotiation of his career in the director's chair, in his own, laconic, well-chosen, unpretentious and to-the-point voice. Highly recommended for any budding or hardcore Clint Eastwood fans alike. Or any serious filmfan, for that matter.

DOA from boredom........2002-11-10

I had to read this book for an English class. It's just a collection of articles of people interviewing Clint Eastwood through the years. Want to know how he makes movies? He shoots the first take, moves fast and comes in under budget. His history is told over, and over, and over, and over. Nice to read if you run out of sleeping pills.

My niece Beti read the enchanted well. She wondered what was the tune playing within, not knowing what it was, she composed her own tune so taken was she by the story. Her description of the piece she composed to go with the story tells all anyone will ever need to know about this book.

She called her tune "Longing for union"... obeying the metaphor which states that every union we long to establish on the 'human' love plane..in the horizontal dimension, is really a desire for divine love...in the vertical dimension it is the only love which one can fade into when enfolded in its mutual embrace. And disappear refers to one's entire mind vanishing into an experience wherein, at last, all suffering ends and complete contentment nests in your heart.....to love humanly is an exercise in learning to love the divine...reality in fact...and to cease from all suffering!

Great Insight into Diana's Complex Brother.......2002-02-06

I bought this book in London; it is the same one that you feature, although it has a different ISBN number. Amazing details about a man that the world met when we lost his beloved sister. Beautiful pictures, including one with Diana, their mother, Earl Spencer, his wife, and their children -- talking casually on a street in London. Also features an amazing picture of Charles Spencer and Prince Charles (with Nelson Mandela) in Cape Town in November of 1997. Very historical photo!!
