Then, head inland to the heart of the peninsula and Olympic National Park, famous for graceful waterfalls, breathtaking glaciers, old-growth rain forest, and an abundance of wildlife. This is the Olympic Peninsula in all its splendor and magnificence--in all its grace and grandeur.

What does it take to turn ideas into action? What are the elements of a perfect pitch? How do you win the war for talent? How do you establish a brand without bucks? These are some of the issues everyone faces when starting or revitalizing any undertaking, and Guy Kawasaki, former marketing maven of Apple Computer, provides the answers.
The Art of the Start will give you the essential steps to launch great products, services, and companieswhether you are dreaming of starting the next Microsoft or a not-for-profit that's going to change the world. It also shows managers how to unleash entrepreneurial thinking at established companies, helping them foster the pluck and creativity that their businesses need to stay ahead of the pack. Kawasaki provides readers with GISTGreat Ideas for Starting Thingsincluding his field-tested insider's techniques for bootstrapping, branding, networking, recruiting, pitching, rainmaking, and, most important in this fickle consumer climate, building buzz.
At Apple, Kawasaki helped turn ordinary customers into fanatics. As founder and CEO of Garage Technology Ventures, he has tested his iconoclastic ideas on real- world start- ups. And as an irrepressible columnist for Forbes, he has honed his best thinking about The Art of the Start.
Customer Reviews:
Good, basic.......2007-10-20
This book covers the process of starting a business and raising money. Good basic tips and lots of the boostrapper philosophy. I love Guy's work.
The Art of the start.......2007-10-06
This book is great for getting anything started. Very easy to read and to the point. Anyone can use this book to start anything. Details to look for. I also liked that I could read the first chapter on line before purchasing it.
Great check-list for anyone starting a company........2007-09-07
A great checklist and lots of advice for anyone thinking of starting a company.
Nothing revolutionary, perhaps nothing you wouldn't have thought of yourself, but there is great value in having a well thought-out, complete, list like this.
Only 4 stars because the book seems biased towards venture-funded companies.
The Art of Living.......2007-08-30
Written like he was delivering a speech, Guy Kawasaki has made this an enjoyable and interesting read. All the time I was turning the pages, I kept feeling that much of what he wrote applied to life, and not just starting a business. When I got to the final chapter, "The Art of Being a Mensch", I discovered why I had gotten that feeling - much of Kawasaki's business approach emanates from his way of being in life. Read it for thoughts on how to live; read it for its humor, read it for advice - but do read it! Dennis DeWilde, Author of The Performance Connection.
Great book for starting anything important in life........2007-08-23
This book was so easy to read, and just made sense. If you looking to start anything in life that you have not done before, read this book, it will help a lot.

Customer Reviews:
A good book for all gardeners! .......2006-08-06
This was an OK book, I am actually sorry I returned it, however the book by Dan Heims and Grahame Ware is by far a better read about heuchera. If you could only have one book on the topic choose the other, but it is better to choose both.
A treasure to own and a great gardening gift.......2006-08-05
Coral bells (Heucheras) aren't just for Grandma's garden anymore. Dazzling new varieties are widely available, some even in garden departments of the big box stores. These plants tempt gardeners with their outstanding green or purple foliage, silver-laced and ruffled, and their delicate but durable flowers. This elegant book, with nearly 100 color photographs, would grace any coffee table, but it also contains all the information a gardener needs to incorporate heucheras and their relatives into rock gardens, natural settings and sunny or shady borders. Clearly written chapters tell how to to grow them well, and to propagate them successfully. The authors cover the history of the garden hybrids. They reveal fascinating details of propagation by tissue culture and offer a glimpe into the competitive world of breeding and marketing new cultivars. The book also lists public gardens and natural places where heuchera plantings can be seen.
Book Description
Few perennials have undergone as dramatic a "makeover" as heucheras (coral bells) and their hybrids with tiarellas (foamflowers), the heucherellas (foamy bells). Drawn mainly from diminutive forest-dwelling species with small white flowers and unremarkable foliage, these woodlanders and crevice dwellers are now among the most popular plants in nurseries around the world. Dan Heims and Grahame Ware not only provide background on the wild species of Heuchera, they also tell how these plants were developed into the garden stars they are today, with an appreciative nod to the breeders who revolutionized the plants' characteristics. The book's main feature is extensive listings of the choice selections and hybrids available commercially; practical chapters on garden care, propagation, and design uses round out this fascinating account. Gardeners looking for the drab and colorless need not trouble themselves with this book — the first ever on these striking plants.
Customer Reviews:
almost.......2007-05-14
Only downside to this book is that most do not specify location i.e. sun / shade. And their is no zone reference.
The Perfect Place to Start to Learn about The Perfect Ornamental.......2006-08-06
As I grow in my admiration for the hybridizers of heuchera, I find myself wanting to know much more. This book if full of pictures and good background information. It may not have all the answers but it is the fist place to start this journey. You will be amazed at this little supper star, called Heuchera. Hostas were the number one perennial, however thanks to Terra Nova, hostas must give Heucheras a wide girth. Heuchera is todays number one perennial, and by about five months.
Gorgeous photos and interesting, useful text.......2006-02-05
I am a professional landscape designer, and I have become a huge fan of Heucheras and Heucherellas. Their incredible variety of foliage colors makes them a wonderful plant to use in many situations. They are simple to maintain, easy to grow, and come in foliage colors from bright golden chartreuse with magenta midribs, lush greens with gorgeous natural-looking pink flowers, to deep velvety purples and rich chocolate ruffles.
This is a truly wonderful resource for fans of these plants. The first part of the book has over 50 pages filled with multiple color photos on each page, of every kind of Heuchera or Heucherella you might want to know about. This is great for getting a glimpse of some of the newer varieties that haven't reached our local nurseries yet, and for comparing the subtle and not so subtle variations in their foliage, flower, and habit. I haven't found any Heucheras that are available to me that are not covered in this book, and he covers a lot that I haven't seen yet.
The text which comes after the truly awe-inspiring array of photos in the beginning is helpful and interesting. He gives a lot of background information that the average home gardener might skip over (history, propagation, how they are named and botanically classed), but that I personally found fascinating.
He also gets right to the meat of the matter in his discussions of pest problems and how to solve them, how to combine some of the outrageous foliage colors found in Heucheras and Heucherellas with other garden plants, and how to design with them and use them successfully in the garden.
There is also a reference portion where he discusses each plant and variety, its parentage and what that tells us about what they like in the garden, and describes many varieties in great and useful detail.
I have been waiting for a book on Heucheras for a really long time, and I am so glad that this one was so well worth the wait.
Great Mugshot/Technical Book.......2005-09-12
This book is an ideal reference for gardening professionals or those home gardeners who have fallen in love with the broad range of heucheras and heucherellas that have become available. It would be an ideal addition to a community library as well. The many pages of color photos of the different cultivars are like having a catalog for plant shopping. The cultivation instructions are good and the enthusiasm of the author for his subject shines through.

With rare and never-before-published photographs and exclusive interviews with film and fashion luminaries, this groundbreaking book reveals the style secrets that helped make Grant a fashion icon and a perennial inspiration to fans and fashion designers alike. On the 20th anniversary of Grant's death, fashion and style writer Richard Torregrossa makes a powerful case for why Cary Grant matters today more than ever.
Customer Reviews:
THIS WORLD NEEDS CARY GRANT NOW!!!!!!!!.......2007-09-27
THIS IS AN AMAZING LOOK AT MR. GRANT. THIS RANKS UP WITH RICHARD SCHICKLES BOOK CARY GRANT , A CELEBRATION.I LOVE GRANT AND HAVE ALL HIS MOVIES AND MOST BOOKS ON HIM EXCEPT THE SCHLOCK LIES.HIS ACTING AND COMEDIC TAKES ARE BEYOND EVEN CHAPLIN OR KEATON AND IN SITUATION COMEDY HE WAS PEERLESS.I WAS LUCKY TO BE IN THE AUDIENCE FOR "AN EVENING WITH CARY GRANT" IN STAMFORD ABOUT A YEAR BEFORE HE PASSED AWAY.HE WAS CHARMING, ERUDITE, SELF- DEPRECATINGLY FUNNY ABOUT HIMSELF AND HOLLYWOOD AND HIS FRIENDS LIKE CROSBY, SINATRA , FLYNN, COOPER,STEWART, ROGERS ETC.AN IT WAS ALL I HOPED FOR AND FAR MORE.THERE WAS NEVER AND WILL NEVER BE ANOTHER CARY GRANT.OUCH.THE ACADEMY AWARDS COMMITTEE SHOULD DIE IN SHAME THAT HE ONLY RECEIVED AN HONORARY OSCAR. I CAN NAME 3 FILMS HE SHOULD HAVE HE SHOULD HAVE WON FOR.GET THIS BOOK AND PUT IT OUT AS A STAR PIECE ON YOUR COFFEE TABLE.WHERE HAVE YOU GONE ARCHIE LEACH???
Not what I was expecting.......2007-06-25
I bought this book believing it was about the Cary Grant style and tips on the varies aspects of dressing well. To my surprise it was really a very short biography on CG with lots and lots of photos. Now I gave it four stars and not lower because I actually enjoyed it. Even though I've read CG biographies I must say this book has photos that I've never seen before and so that tops the flaws I found in the style department.
Timeless Style.......2007-04-24
This biography is unique in that it reveals a connecting thread in all the stages of Cary Grant's life: his attentiveness to style.
Even in childhood Cary Grant was particular about the fabrics of his clothes. The book gives adequate treatment to his vaudeville and early Hollywood years and mentions some of his inspirations, such as Douglas Fairbanks Sr.
Cary Grant did not have a stylist like many celebrities do today. After failing his first screen test he worked at minimizing his flaws by making adjustments in his wardrobe. The book covers the highlights of his movie career and I appreciated the many behind-the-scenes glimpses and quotes from other actors. The book devotes the most space to the movie To Catch A Thief, considered by some as the most stylish movie ever. It also devotes many pages to his marriage to his fifth wife, Barbara, whom he married in his 70's.
Interspersed throughout are short features on topics such as pocket squares, jackets, dress shirts and bow ties. The book is loaded with photographs and is a pleasure to hold and to read. If you are a Cary Grant fan, or are simply interested in men's fashion, this book should not disappoint.
Lovely book.......2007-01-16
This book is very well done. After reading this book, I admired Mr. Grant even more. He was very deserving of admiration because he really worked hard at everything to achieve his status. The author did an excellent job.
My sister loves it!.......2007-01-11
This was a gift for my sister who loves all things Cary Grant. Include this book as yet another item she loves.

Book Description
Richard Schickel's text, combining critical analysis and a re-interpretation of all the available biographical information, masterfully maps the intersections where a great star's personal history and his screen personality met in a style as elegant, graceful and witty as the actor himself.
Customer Reviews:
A nice analysis of Grant's film career..........2002-09-02
Often, to sell copies, authors of celebrity biographies stoop to including gossip, rumors, and throughly unsubstantiated claims to ruin the reputation of the celebrity. Among other things, the nice thing about Cary Grant A Celebration is that it does not need to resort to these tactics, which are very tasteless, not to mention disrespectful for the celebrity involved.
In addition to having its lack of gossip as a recommendation, A Celebration is really a clear, interesting analysis of Cary Grant's career. It goes through each movie he made, reviews it, and presents a comprehensive theory on Grant's work and the times and man that led to its creation. The reviews, which are blended in to the narrative, are very useful for fans who want to know which movies are worth watching besides the obvious choices.
So, anyhow, this book has a simple but truthful biography of a real Hollywood legend, whose talent and originality on screen was only matched by his reticence and desire for privacy off of it. It is also a useful reference. For all of Cary Grant's fans and anyone interested in classic cinema in general, this is highly recommended. If you aren't interested in any of the above things, why are you looking here anyhow?
Flowery, but no substance.......1999-11-24
Richard Schickel seems to love Cary Grant. And good on him. What he fails to do is translate that love to a book that should convey to the reader the life of Cary Grant.
He spends most of the book waxing lyrical about the different roles he has played and how his own personal feelings are represented in the roles he undertakes.
In a book that claims "to be more than a review of his movies" Richard Schickel completely bypasses his non-film achievements and notoriety. Maybe he is trying to shield the reader from his more questionable side.
The only refreshing deviance from the morbidity is the suggestion of his homosexuality, which is quickly refuted by another few pages of dripping prose.
I am now searching for another book to provide me an insight into this man. This one did not do it for me.

Letters to Louise.......2002-12-22
Collins, an author from the UK, has written an autobiography which, I feel, is not typical. Her story is more dispassionate than I would've expected. I give her credit for reuniting with her daughter and having the courage to write her story.
