Good book with plenty of trail descriptions for the areas referred to in the title. Doesn't have any maps which is a downside, doesn't go over potential campsites very thoroughly either. All in all a good book. but you'll have to get Florida Trail maps to get a good feel for the hikes in here.

Great Guide.......2002-03-22

I thought the big Cypress Preserve was a wasteland until I bought this book. After hiking the Florida Trail through here I realize way they call it a preserve. The trip was challenging but Molloy's book helped immensely, especially with campsites.
I'm now headed to the Apalachicola National Forest for a week long hike before summer hits. The clear trailhead directions in this book will make it easy to get started. Wish me luck.

The art in this book is offensive.......2001-10-25

The Native Americans in this book, with the lone exception of Massasoit, may have brown skin and wear traditional dress, but their facial features are totally *white* -- Squanto looks straight out of a JCrew catalog. Since when do Native Americans have turned up noses? Please. The art in this book isn't just "romanticized," it denies the physical bodies of Native Americans to the point at which it renders the accuracy of the text (and all it's good intentions) moot. Ugh. For much more interesting explorations of Native American history, I'd recommend This Land Is Your Land by George Littlechild.

Excellent Thanksgiving Story.......2000-11-06

This book is an excellent way of sharing the first Thanksgiving with children. It is told from the perspective of the Native Americans, a perspective that is often overlooked. The illustrations are beautiful and help to tell the story visually.

This book provides a lot of information that hasn't appeared in other children's books. I really found myself interested in the story and understand the life of Squanto better than ever before. I highly recommend this book.

Beautiful but disappointing.......2003-08-31

This book is beautifully illustrated but I found the language difficult for some of my students. The writing does not flow well and detracts from the wonderful story. For example: "And when the corn of many colors ripened in its ear, drawing the hungry crows, it was the job of the children of the village to chase them away. One could hear their young voices mingling with the jaded caw-caw of the crows in the field." Also the text is not an exact match of the tape. I did not even care for it as a read aloud. There is a lot of historical information however.

Experienced Direct Marketer, Kern is exactly the model you want to shape yourself to if you are in sales and direct marketing. I spend 8 hours a day generating sales leads for other businesses so I know what I am talking about. He is dead on with his methods. I also thought the Internet section was perfect for anoyone that does not currently use the internet as a research tool.

I read this book at the house of a fellow dog lover and ended up ordering 6 copies for other dog lovers I know! Can't wait to share it with them, as they will appreciate the not only the humor, but how well it represents the personalities of dogs we have all known and loved.

This book must be written by a really smart old dog because he does seem to know how everything works. I read some of it to my dogs and they totally agree. We all had a great tummy scratch and took a nap. I just ordered two more for other pups I know. Great fun!!
