Well organized, not too dry and easy to read. Includes most of the important topics from this area, busines cases, downloadable forms and helpful checklist as tools to manage projects, meetings, communication etc.

Useful Book, But Not for PMP.......2007-01-28

This is a useful book on project management: has some useful templates which you can also download from the website. It's easy to read. But, the editorial reviews of this book represent the recent trend to link each PM book to PMI and to its certification PMP. In my opinion, this book is not compatible with the PMI's approach to project management, and therefore is not useful for the PMP exam preparation. Here is the difference: PMI's approach is based on best practices, while this book's approach is based on one person or one school of thought on PM, which is not necessarily a bad thing.
The discipline of project management has come a long way on the path of maturity. So, if you are looking for a project management book based on best practices and global standards, or if you are looking for the PMP exam preparation material, this is NOT the right book for you.

Very good, practical book on PM.......2006-10-29

It has not new, but practical content. The way the author explain things is very clear. I use it as a guide to everyday work.
One of the best things on this book are the templates it has for the most important documents in Project Management. This templates are online also, so you can download and use them.
It has plenty of diagrams, tips, key concepts and warnings that make the reading very easy and the concepts very understandable.
The author doesn't get into deep discussion neither on quality nor risk subjects. Don't spect to learn about earned value with this book.
Don't spect either to have a very nice presentation or high quality pages, instead select this book for it's content.

For those of us are into using moon signs and the Farmer's Almanac, this book is a real treasure. It is a compilation of bits and pieces about gardening and a great deal more. It is interesting to read and easy to use. Raising With the Moon is a must for your gardening library.

Have you ever picked up a Farmer's Almanac and wondered how in the world it's used, much less understood? Now armed with Pyle and Reese's clear, concise and rational explanations of the effects of the moon's signs, you can till, weed, plant, water, even mow the lawn and get your hair cut under the most favorable conditions. Their Planting Guide gives what phase of the moon is best to plant different vegetables and flowers and which moon signs are most suitable. It is easy to follow and the theory explained simply and convincingly. Other charts include Good Companions and Bad Companions which help one lay out a garden plan which will make everyone happy. For example, I put in bush beans around my strawberries. The beans provide nitrogen for the berries. Another chart gives natural repellents to pests, such as radishes to repel cucumber beetles. However, all this is just an added benefit of the book. The real heart is the moon sign explanations and how to apply the phases of the moon and the zodiac signs to successful gardening. Part of the authors' impetus to write the book was a quote from Dr. Robert Millikan, Nobel Prize Winner (Physics, 1923):"I do know that if man if not affected in some way by the planets, sun and moon, he is the only thing on earth that is not." Here's a free tip. If you want to slow the growth of your lawn, mow in the waning moon (after the full one) in Leo, Gemini, Virgo, Aquarius, Sagittarius or Aries (in declining order of effectiveness). Great writing from a theatrical diva.......2003-07-07

Having just journeyed to Melbourne (from Sydney) to see Miss Caldwell in Durenmatt's "The Visit", which is part of the Melbourne Theatre Company's 50th anniversary season (she was also in their first production in 1953),I chanced upon her "semi-autobiography" in a local bookshop. This covers the first half of her dazzling life. Her prose is like her acting: direct, simple, intelligent, moving, riveting and unforgettable. Anyone even remotely interested in the theatre should take the opportunity to read this marvellous book. And if there is ever a chance to see the lady on a stage, RUN, don't walk, to get in line. A great book by a great artist.

The last two volumes of Gladstone's diaries depict the extraordinary energy of a remarkable octogenarian: Gladstone was eighty-four when he resigned the Premiership in 1894 to close his fourth administration. His pursuit of `justice for Ireland' through the successful passage of a Home Rule Bill through the Commons in 1893 forms the political centrepiece of these volumes. But there is also a wealth of material on imperial, foreign, domestic, and religious politics contained in the daily diary enteries, the minutes of the Cabinets of the 1892-4 government, and the five hundred letters which accompany the enteries for the governmental period. Gladstone's life-style made few concessions to his age: his reading, writing, theatre-going, and trips abroad continue, as do his speech-writing and his church-going. His declining eyesight eventually curtailed his reading and led to the end of regular diary-writing in 1894. His vast diary, which he began in 1825, ends in 1896. Its final entries are a moving conclusion to one of the most remarkable and one the most curious documents of British history.
