Missing pages.......2007-03-26
This would have been a great book, if the entire section on Holland wasn't missing. The seller was indifferent to my plight and wouldn't stand behind what he sold
The only book you will need to pack!.......2003-06-02
Rule #1 when traveling in Europe: pack light! You will carry your stuff up many stairs from the metro. You certainly do not want to bring 10 books on each region you will visit!
For the person who wants to experience the countries tourism and the real culture behind the front door, this is the best guide I've seen. I've been to Europe with another guide, and this one beat it hands down! I felt like a professional traveler and actually had other tourists befriend me and ask for advise--all from this detailed and wonderful book!
It's a must have for any person who wants to make sure they see everything they came for without breaking the bank or wasting their time.

The French phrases are excellent-kept it simple. I was complimented for my French.
Rants
The Orangery Musee housing the Impressionists does not open sometime in 2002 as indicated in the book, but 2006. Long walk from Louve to find out its not even open. Made up for this with article on Montmarrse musee with Monets-short cab from Latin quarter-well worth it.
Not Very Impressed With This Book........2002-07-24
This was our 2nd time using a Rick Steve's book (the first was the Italy guide book, which was great)...and I found the France guidebook lacking depth. He touches large portions of the country with the guidebook, but the regions we visited (Provence, Alps, and Paris) were void of much detail. In particular, we found the sight-seeing recommendations to be quite skimpy. The restaurant and hotel recommendations were ok, but we found our favorite hotels on-line or in a different guidebook. If you get this book, be sure to only use it as a companion to a more comprenesive guide, such as Lonely Planet or Fodor's!!
Rick Steves France, Belgium and the Netherlands.......2002-05-18
This book was great. I recently went to Paris for the first time and found this book to have invaluable information and to be extremely accurate with pricing, timetables, etc. Not only did it save me about 2 hours standing in line for the Louvre by enlightening me to the underground entrance, but the walking tour had all the necessary places to stop in a great and easy to follow order.
I also found the book extremely useful when traveling to Beaune for the winery tours. The hotel, winery tour and restaurant I selected were straight from the book and they were everything he said it was.
The only thing that disappointed me was the lack of information on Dijon. It's a fairly large city and easy to inlcude with a trip to Beaune, but there wasn't any information at all.
One other useful piece of information would be a holiday schedule. France closes entirely down on certain holidays and as a tourist that would be useful information when planning a trip.

Book Description
Crippled in an accident and left behind by his hunting party, Lone Warrior must overcome hunger, cold, pain, and despair to survive. But most terrifying of all his trials is the appearance of a skeleton-ghost arisen from the grave. That Lone Warrior can still remember to express his gratitude to the animal he must kill to survive, and that he does not allow fear to diminish his dignity, makes him an ideal hero.

A respectful retelling of an Arapahoe legend........2003-12-09
This book is a lovely retelling of the Arapahoe legend of "The Lame Warrior and the Skeleton". In its ten pages, the writer touches on the characteristics of leadership. The illustrations are beautiful and meaningful. This would be a great book to read with a child to discuss such themes as leadership, death, interrelatedness, and thanksgiving. It is truly a beautiful book and story.

Good book for newcomers to party plan selling.......2006-07-30
I liked this book because it helped me get started in a new business. It covered the basics and helped me choose my company. I liked the ideas for setting up parties and working with the hostess, too. Maybe somebody already doing party plan selling may find this too basic, but I found it just right for me.
Roberta Ellison
Not worth the money.......2006-07-11
I bought the book, read it, and returned it the next day, because it actually had less information than I have found for free on-line.
If you are interested in it, look over it in a bookstore before wasting your money.
Very helpful book for newcomer to party plan selling.......2006-03-07
I think this is a very helpful book for someone who is new to party plan selling. I found it very helpful to learn about how to decide what products and company to choose, and the ideas about recruiting hostesses and working with them to set up the party were very useful to me, too. I plan to use it to help in training the members of my team which I am just starting to put together.

Complete Idiot's Guide to Party Plan Selling.......2006-01-28
I was very disappointed in this book. I purchased it from Australia believing it would be useful as a party plan consultant and manager of a sales team. It contains a lot of totally irrelevant information and I would have liked to have seen more tips, ideas, for party bookings, hostess coaching, promtion etc. To be really honest, if I had bought this from a bookshop I would have gone back and asked for a refund. Don't waste your money on this one. There are better ones out there to purchase.

Direct Marketing Powerful But Often Underused By Many Businesses.......2005-07-29
This is a fantastic book to any business person who wants to improve their bottom line and make their advertising and marketing more measureable and accountable. Bly thoroughly covers every direct marketing medium: print, radio, tv, telemarketing and the Internet. And he shows the key differences of selling to the general consumer versuses selling to other businesses. He succinctly explains how to use direct marketing for selling services, information products, fundraising and lead generation. I especially like Chapter 5, which is all about how to measure and monitor your results so you know what's working and what isn't. I've consulted this book numerous times when creating my own promotions, especially the sections on postcards and sales letters. It's a must-have book that should be on the shelf of every business person, whether you're an experienced direct marketer or a complete newbie.
Great introduction and reference!.......2005-01-18
I thought this was a good reference guide that outlines the basics of direct mail as well as defines a lot of the buzzwords I was always hearing. I think the most valuable part was it gave me a place to start in learning how to design direct mail peices and gave me several tips and good ideas on what to do and what not to do. Now I know what direction I need to start focusing on. I really found the book helpful!
The Complete Idiot's Guide To Direct Marketing.......2002-07-20
Bob Bly has hit the cover off the ball again! This book is a no-nonsense, roll-up-your-sleeves, hold-your-hand-from A-Z look at how to make more money selling your products or services via Direct Marketing. There are many "how to" books out there that tell us what to do, but not HOW TO DO IT! This is not one of them. You will quickly learn "insider" tools and techniques that bring home the bacon no matter what you're selling. I have highly recommended Bob Bly's nuts and bolts books to my business clients for years and this one is no exception. In fact, it's a no-brainer investment. Go ahead, click the "Add To My Cart" button now -- and start swinging for the fences!
Stop searching! You've found the right DM resource.......2002-07-09
Whether you are new to DM or a 10 year veteran, Bob Bly's Complete Idiot's Guide to DM is the right resource for you. This book cuts to the chase by presenting simple, easy to understand topics. And, it is very comprehensive. If you are a novice or a seasoned professional in need of an update, I highly recommend this book.
Useful and Well-Written!.......2002-05-14
Robert Bly does it again in this excellent, easy-to-read book. I read it over one weekend and couldn't put it down. The language is simple, direct and honest. Examples are practical and compelling. For me, it was especially helpful because I have been engaged in Internet marketing for years and thinking about diversifying into direct marketing (DM). Well, after reading the book I realized that I have successfully executed a number of direct marketing campaigns, using the Web as a direct response tool. Additionally, he gave me new ideas to put to use and the confidence to break into new forms of the discipline. Whether or not you want to get into DM, or are a seasoned veteran, I recommend this book to broaden your knowledge base. It will certainly help you design and execute more creative and profitable campaigns, and improve your marketability in the profession.

Offers a very nice history of Beagles.......2003-08-15
As the proud owner of two Beagles, 1 field and 1 show, I found this book interesting. It is full of history and facts, and complete with pictures of mostly gorgeous show quality Beagles. I disagree with the reviewer who said Beagles are not good in obedience. They are not generally as eager to please as a Labrador might be BUT if you know how to motivate a Beagle (treats & play) they learn quickly and never forget anything.
This is a nice book for a first time Beagle owner and while it may not be the best of books on Beagles it is a nice introduction to the merry little hounds with excellent photographs.
Beagle Review.......2002-01-26
I have a beagle, he looks like snoopy. I thought this book did not help provide any useful tips what so ever and I actually was so disapointed, I asked for my money back. I DO NOT recommend this book at all......
Same for all other breeds.......2000-11-21
If you were to buy 'The guide to owning a Shetland Sheepdog' or 'Bulldog' or 'Staffordshire Bull Terrier' or 'any other breed under the sun' by the same author, you will get exactly the same book, just with different pictures. The only other difference would be the very brief introduction to the breed in the begining and the standard for the breed, everything else is identical. He even says that the Beagle excels at obediance, (ha, ha) Need I say more.
AN AD FOR NYLABONES.......2000-10-31
I agree with the reviewer who noted that this book was little more than an infomercial for Nylabones. This book had no depth and offered no real information about the care, breeding and history of this unique breed. Instead of focusing on beagles, the owner describes a beagle mix. I admit I was a little dismayed that the book did not focus exclusively on the pure beagle. People who own pure beagles or folks who are considering becoming owners of beagles would find more information in any of a number of books on the subject or by traveling on the internet. This book really offers no information and its "bark" is worse than its "bite."
You can get the information for free on the Internet!.......1999-07-08
Don't spend your money! There is absolutely no depth to "The Guide to Owning a Beagle," which focuses solely on the good points of the breed and hawking "Nylabones." (Andrew Vallilla mentioned Nylabones so often, I wondered if he got a kickback for each time he mentioned the brand.) Here's an example of the information contained in the book. My wonderful beagle-mix puppy is pretty rambunctious and I was hoping to find information on the specific training needs of beagles. I got a "training" section that told me I could get a private trainer, join an obedience class or read a book. That's it! Nothing more! So use your search engine and get this depth of information for yourself!

An invaluable resource for collectors of this art pottery..........2001-03-02
This excellent reference book is a must-have for any collector of this wonderful at pottery. The authors obviously took some real time and effort to put the book together, and their work really shows. There is a great section on the history of the pottery, with sections on past and recent history (including info about the Rocky River library purchase). There is discussion of the various artists who worked for or did designs for Cowan, including: Bogatay, Martin, Jossett, Gregory, Winter, Hummel, Cowan himself, and Schreckengost of course. A section discusses the bodyware, glaze, and pottery marks, and there is a special section on the famous Jazz Bowl.
The rest of the book consists of an identification and value guide. It's chock-full of mostly color photos of various Cowan pieces, with sizes given, as well as prices (although it's worth noting that the prices are no longer quite accurate, due to the effect that online auctions have had on collectibles of late). The photos are sharp for the most part, with details shown clearly. All in all this is a great book for the Cowan collector.
Book Description
This edition includes the complete correspondence of Francis Junius (1591-1677), who may be called the father of modern art theory and of comparative Germanic philology. The edition offers insight into this Dutch scholar's life and studies in the context of his family, friends, and employment by the English Arundel family. All were intimately associated with the leading circles of scholars, aristocrats and dignitaries in the Low Countries and England. The corpus of 226 Latin, English and Dutch letters has been edited with generous annotations, English translations, an introduction, and a critical apparatus. The letters are an invaluable source of detail for students of seventeenth-century intellectual history, English and Dutch elite culture, Germanic philology, art history, and learned networks.

* * * SETH GREEN * * *.......2004-04-17
This book was very imformative, the colour pictures appriciated (!),and although an actual interview with Seth would have been more usefull, the interview snippets allow the reader to appriciate the number of films and programmes Seth has been in.
The book covers most of Seths life and displays information that would otherwise be hard to come by if you are one of these people (myself included) that like information given and to not have to got searching for it!
Overall a worthwile enjoyable read, only if you like Seth Green of course!
Sethual Healing.......2000-08-11
Seth Green is gorgeous and hilarious: we all know that. But did we know much else about him? Not really. I was curious to find out.
This "unauthorized biography" wasn't as indepth as I would personally prefer, but a quick and enjoyable read to find out about my red-headed cutie. It was aimed entirely at teeny-boppers and Buffy fanatics, but it was great to be reminded of the large number of movies he's been in. He had always been a familiar face to me back before the original Austin Powers movie even came out.
It would have been good to read more about his getting up to no good or just reading more stuff he's said because he's extremely articulate, intelligent and funny. I guess the writers were afraid they might corrupt their young readers. It's great that he just lies and exaggerates in interviews - what a cack!
It should have had older pictures of him as well as recent ones, since a big slice of the book was about his life as a child actor. But I guess you can't complain.
I can't believe he's the same kid that was in "Can't Buy Me Love" because that kid looked freaky deeky!
It was sad to see him basically leave Buffy, but I was happy for him because I'm sure he has a long road ahead in movies. And to be honest, the more dude-ish he is, the better! It'd be great to see him in a quality romantic comedy or maybe just a full-on comedy where he's the main star. Watch out Jim Carrey!
CAN IT GET GET BETTER THAN THIS?.......2000-04-29
THIS BOOK IS GREAT, A GREAT BOIGRAPHY OF TODAYS SPUNKIEST HUNK SETH GREEN, GIVES YOU SOME OF THE MOST COOLEST GOSSIP AND FACTS ABOUT HIM, I AM PERSONALLY HIS NO.1 FAN AND KNOW LOADS ABOUT HIM AND I DID ENJOY READING THIS BOOK AND YOU WILL TOO.
The Greenest book around!.......2000-04-25
"Seth Green" is a great biography on Seth Green and his life. I felt like I was actually in his shoes from when he was a kid to now. Even though this book was unauthorized, I didn't care. I am one of Seth's number one fans, and finding out more information on his life was a thrill to me. From childhood to adulthood, this biography will amaze all readers. To tell you the truth, it will inspire you to be not only the "Greenest" person out there, but to work your hardest to achieve all goals in life!

Book Description
Joan of Arc and Richard III loom large in the histories of their countries, but the myths surrounding them have always obscured just who they were and what they hoped to accomplish. In this book, medieval historian Charles Wood brings these fascinating figures to life through an original
combination of traditional biography and wide-ranging discussion of the political and social world in which they lived. Wood draws on a range of unusual sources--from art and legal codes to chronicles and lives of saints--to present a new picture of medieval people and their concerns. Focusing on
topics often neglected by other historians, he includes lively discussions of royal adultery scandals, child-kings and the problems they posed, and earlier people and crises that helped to shape the culture of sex and sainthood that was profoundly that of the Middle Ages. In so doing, he clarifies
the historical contributions of Richard and Joan, and sheds new light on the political, social, and religious forces that shaped medieval government and made France and England such widely different countries.
