When you have to eat something.......2003-07-30

I have just spent time with the first edition, it is possible any negative comments do not apply to later additions.
Physically this hardcover book is impressive, from binding to covering to type face used. The preamble is extensive but worth reading.
Pictures and physical descriptions of plants are very good though would have preferred colour.
Written content generally good but found a couple of surprising plant omissions and the advice on edible or not on a couple was in direct conflict with another publication so guess I will avoid that plant entirely or check again in later additions to be sure.

GREAT READ--must have for the working world.......2005-12-15

I thought this book was absolutely hilarious and SO TRUE. I received it as a gift before my first "corporate" job and not only did I get the most laughs I've had in awhile, I also got some very important tips! I showed it to my boss who loved it, and he suggested every assistant in the office shoud have a copy. It's become the assistant's unofficial Bible.

as other books that my parents bought me...there was no real meat or insight in it, just kind of a flippant read and contains things you figure out at least 2 weeks into your job. Funny, but no real help.

I've returned the three copies I purchased. The writing is cynical, unnecessarily raunchy, and of no value. Leave it on the shelf.

Going Corporate is a fun book that could help a newbie to the world of office life navigate with a little more ease. I'd love to read a review from a person who reads this book while still in college and then reflects on it 1 year later.

I think that most readers are likely to already be in the "real world" and are amused by the authors' take on day to day life.

Some highlights:

- why the company wants you to drink coffee.
- the politics of bag lunches versus buying lunch.
- eating at your desk.
- the IT department.
- being "yourself."

I don't think that reading this book helped me at all, but it was entertaining at the very least.

A must have for recent grads.......2004-10-11

The authors offer a hilarious and accurate account of life after undergrad. Funny yet helpful, this book will make you laugh out loud while at the same time teaching all-important lessons about transitioning to the 9-5 world.

The correspondence of the Puritan divine Richard Baxter (1615-1691) is an unusually rich source of evidence for seventeenth-century history, in particular for the period's involved ecclesiastical history and its intellectual, cultural, and bibliographical tastes, as well as for Baxter himself. A solid stock investment book .......2007-08-25

First of all, I have something to say about the negative reviews. Some are totally inaccurate (no wonder these folks lose money.) One person said he lost money on commissions and taxes when he was stopped out at a 10% loss. Yes, you have to pay commission, but you don't pay tax on losses. Get your facts straight even when you lie. I couldn't find the name Peter Lynch mentioned anywhere in her book like this person claimed. As far as the 10% stop loss, who says you have to keep it at exactly 10%? Investing is an art, not a science. You adapt to better deal with your particular situation.

Now on with the review, I have read over 20 books on the stock market, and I found this little book one of the most useful. The method in book is very similar to the one advocated by William O'neal. Some call it momentum investing. This method is more of a short-term or swing trading strategy than long-term investing. What makes this book a standout is she takes the time to explain difficult concepts in simple terms that beginners could understand. She even takes the time to show the readers how to use a calculator to find various values of a stock. Additionally, she includes many useful websites to aid people in their search for stocks to invest. She also did a good job explaining fundamental and technical analysis at the basis level.

The strategy recommended is solid and is used and tested by traders and investors everyday. The language used to explain this investing concept to the readers is clear. I recommend this book.

I have the audio cassette version of this book. I've learned so much by listening to it. She makes such great everyday comparisons to help understand the market and the terminology. Its a terrific overall guide to gain confidence in yourself and begin to invest in the stock market. The whole investing environment can be so intimidating and she has removed that with this book allowing even those who doubted ever becoming an investor to now be one. Listening to the audio version her voice is very animated and clear, even humorous in her examples. Highly recommend this for both men & women, even teens. Thank you Ms. Stav for taking the mystery out of it all.

Wow! Julie made it so darn understandable........2003-12-30

I couldn't believe how Wall Street has made understanding investing so complicated, when it's not.

Julie has taken a so called difficult subject and made it really simple to follow. In fact, as simple as 1-2-3 and A-B-C.

Now I can talk the Wall Street lingo with the Big Boys, while laughing all the way to the bank.

Groundwater is endangered and polluted in several ways. Conservation and better management of this invisible resource should be a key ingredient of sustainable water policies.
