This book may be great for overseas travels, but nothing in the book couldn't be told to you by another mother for free.

Great advice...start them traveling early in life.......2001-12-05

Even before our daughter was born, my wife and I were concerned; we love to travel, but how to do it with a baby (who would eventually become a toddler and so on.) This book gave us invaluable advice; get the baby into your lifestye at a young age. We take long weekends, and drive up to eight hours to get to our destination. That, of course, is long for a baby, but if you want to get to that point, start early. Take the baby for rides in the car. Choose a destination which is not too far, and when you arrive, spend some time with there with the baby. If the baby learns early that travel is a normal aspect of life, all further travel will build on that solid foundation. Great advice, and it works! Lots of great tips for kids of other ages, too. If you travel, and are having a child, I strongly recommend this book.

I am researching the possibilities and problems with traveling with our first child. I picked up this book and a similar one by another author. Hands down, Tristam's book wins. She deals with normal incidents and gives valuable resources (products, addresses, etc.) for traveling. Very practical book.

It's good to know that others have gone before you.......1999-12-07

As we faced the birth of our first child almost two years ago, we thought our globe-trotting days were behind us. A thoughtful friend bought this book for me and it was a good reference for that first trip abroad. What we found even more helpful was the courage to just pack up the little one and get on the plane. We have been there and back again and our child has almost more frequent flyer miles than we do.

Some Facts are Lies.......2000-12-08

My father personally knows some of the people that were caught in the middle of this investigation. Wrongdoing was going on, however; the way reporters painted the picture of how some people had to live their lives due to this investigation were untrue. There were no bodyguards for Barbara or A. Cowen. No black roses or death threats sent to their offices. The mystery man throughout the whole event? It's no mystery to me, I know. Trust me, prosecutors couldn't find any evidence towards this man because there was no evidence. Reporters found a way to make this spectacle look entertaining, and that's all it was...entertainment.

The system works!.......2000-09-07

This was a very interesting book discussing the fall of the former Governor of Oklahoma for illegal actions taken while in office. The book gives a great introduction to some of the problems with our judicial system but shows that this system ultimately works in the end. I highly recommend this book to anyone interested in Oklahoma politics, federal prosecution, or law.

This book really was a disappointment, the training methods are traditional, just pulling and pushing the dog into positions and even choking the dog for 5 seconds if it behaves aggressively.

Based solely on reading and using this training manual for more than two years, I have turned around a friend's dog-aggressive canine in a snap, and have calmed my own dog's mild anxieties.

I'm convinced Judy Moore's method of communication works with every dog -- for every human who is willing to try it and not give up too soon. It happifies both hound and human!

Dialogue is so easy to understand, easy to implement (if one will just humble his pride enough to do crazy-looking 180 degree turns at the start of walks with his dog) and sure-fire in its results that it can also be used on the most aggressive, destructive, terrorized/terrorizing dog. The book gives plenty of examples of dogs who were so beyond the pale that other trainers had recommended they be locked in a crate for life or put to death.

The reason Moore's regimen is so successful with out-of-control dogs, I believe, is that it eliminates the underlying causes of bad behavior by giving crazed-with-fear or crazed-with-anger dogs such confidence, self-esteem, and peace of mind -- not to mention such fun! Hence, the dogs have no desire to act out their fears or aggressions any longer. That's because they no longer feel fear or anger.

Unbelievably, I found that mastering Dialogue takes only a few minutes a day. The initial instruction begins only after the handler/owner has studied and practiced on his own until he is absolutely sure he understands the steps and can teach them to the dog in such a way that he makes the dog feel better about himself. After that, dog and handler need do only 10 to 15 minutes of daily practice of these exercises, which are the components of Dialogue and the structure for teaching the dog to respond to any situation with trust.

I've found that if you decide to implement Moore's method, you have to lay aside all preconceived ideas and previous training methods. You have to banish your own fears -- for instance, a belief that you lack the ability needed to be a successful dog handler. Your confidence level is always picked up by, and passed along to, your dog.

Exactness (following all Moore's instructions to the letter, and insisting in a kind way that the dog do the same) and consistency (refusing to revert to other methods, and sticking with Dialogue and only Dialogue, day in and day out) are two ingredients in this recipe for success.

Also, you have to have -- or quickly develop -- unbounded patience. The human holding the leash ends up developing lots of good (latent) qualities in himself. In fact, I'd say he progresses as much, if not more, than his canine companion by the time the training "takes."

Amazing changes in a dog's behavior sometimes come in a matter of hours or days. That's not to say that behavior modification is a quick fix, though. It usually takes at least six months - sometimes more -- of regular practice to ingrain Dialogue in both owner and dog to the point where the latter responds automatically to each and every command, even off-leash.

I really like Moore's premise that there's no such thing as a bad dog. Better yet, her method proves her words!

Every dog deserves this book. Every dog owner does, too. Dialogue is the only way to go, in my book!

I have read Judy's book, seen her video, met her when she came to Milwaukee in 2001 to work with two dogs, and this year in May 2002 when she gave a wonderful presentation at the Wisconsin Humane Society talking about some of her successes which are also mentioned in her book. She did a live demonstration and as a volunteer at the facility, I received so much positive feedback from attendees. The book has helped friends of mine who recently acquired dogs and one person in particular refers to Judy's book as his "bible" when working with his dog. I do not have a dog of my own, but as a dog walker at the shelter, Judy's teachings have helped me to better understand the dogs I walk at the shelter to have more enjoyable quality time. The book is so worthwhile to every dog owner, both new and those who have had dogs, and this book should be associated on Amazon with other dog-related books (whether training or pleasure reading).

After movie-makers in England bungled film versions of Bernard Shaw's How He Lied to Her Husband and Arms and the Man, producers and directors in Germany and Holland botched those based on Pygmalion, and a Hollywood screenplay desecrated The Devil's Disciple, Shaw took a chance on Gabriel Pascal and gave him permission to produce a movie version of Pygmalion in England. The contract was signed on 13 December 1935 and Pascal, a charming, flamboyant Hungarian emigre with relatively little experience in cinema, did the playwright proud. Shaw's gamble paid off in this Pygmalion, which, to this day, is usually claimed to be the best film version of any of his plays.

This first collection of the correspondence of Bernard Shaw and Gabriel Pascal contains 268 letters, the greatest portion of which have not been previously published. They provide an intimate, behind-the-scenes view of the film industry's day-to-day workings and of the art of movie-making, from the signing of the first contract between Shaw and Pascal, to Shaw's death in 1950.

The letters reveal the great extent to which Pascal, unlike his predecessors, scrupulously kept Shaw informed of what he did. We learn about whom Pascal negotiated with, the merits of association with certain individuals or businesses, contract problems, the backbiting and backstabbing of the industry, difficulties with casting, and progress throughout the filming. Shaw accepted and embellished some of Pascal's ideas for production, and vehemently disagreed with others. Their correspondence highlights the differences in personality between the two men. Shaw was ever the astute businessman, while Pascal was the eager artist. Shaw the methodical mastermind contrasted sharply with Pascal the entrepreneur with many projects under development, few of which came to fruition.

Most important, however, the letters, postal cards, and telegrams collected here reveal how Pascal fought for the integrity of Shavian cinema; how, as a director, he tried to create films that were true to their dramatic sources; and how, in partnership with Pascal, Shaw's cinematic writings flourished.
