The book was good for information such as history, culture and general travel information such as roads etc. Most the of the hotels and restaurants the book describe no longer exist. It was useful in planning excusions and finding the types of things that aren't going to change over time such as the hiking paths around the volcano, major towns/beaches and attractions of the island. Since there are few books on Guadeloupe travel available in English it is better than nothing.

Exceptional comprehensive guidebook.......2000-08-27

If you're planning on going to La Guadeloupe and if you are interested in a guidebook that goes beyond the usual touristy information, consider this one. It has everything from history to outdoor activities, including a vast choice of very well reviewed accomodations and restaurants. Everything is there to prepare for a great trip. It is also very well written and easy to read which is always a plus.

This book profiles three of the great Native American heroes of North America, and how they lead their respective nations against the forces of encroaching white civilization. The three are Osceola of the Florida Seminoles, Cochise of the Navajo in Arizona, and Tecumseh, who tried uniting many tribes in the region between the Rockies and the Appalachians. Each of the three is presented as a human being with families, worries, aspirations, and downfalls. Each came to realize that the future of their nations depended on their actions. The book provides the biography of all three from birth to death, and highlights their major accomplishments and failures.

The book is appropriate for kids from age 6 - 13, with easy to read text. The book is nonfiction, and the facts presented are historically true whenever possible. The tone of the text is quite impartial and objective; hence no bashing of America and white people. I found this to be a good history book and worthy reading for all young people.

This is a good book if you want to learn more about franchising in general. It has a lot of great information in it. It is a little bit of a "dry read" compared to other books on the topic I have read.

It's strength and weakness is in that it provides highlights for both franchisee or franchisor but does not go into great detail for either. If anything it has a slant towards those wishing to franchise and existing business. If you are looking for a book that is in depth from either perspective I would not start with this one.

This is the publication you should read if you are interested either working for another business, starting your own or starting a franchise. Either way, you should learn how the franchising concept works. As a researcher of McDonalds, I totally believe this is the idea whose time has come. Franchising will definitely be the wave of the future from time to come. Read this book as a student of mind control and recovery - you will not be sorry.

Excellent resource.......2007-08-28

I started looking into investing and the stock market a year or so ago when I realized I had enough money to start investing long-term. I tried a couple different books, but they all seemed too childish or too confusing. I found Street Wise at the library, and even before I had finished reading it I ordered my own copy. The whole book is very well-organized and kept me very interested all the way through.

Although teens as young as thirteen or fourteen would find the material age-appropriate, I would consider this book a valuable resource for adults as well. In "Street Wise," Bamford describes:
1. The value of compound interest for young investors
2. The basics of how the stock market operates
3. How investors actually buy and sell stocks
4. The advantages and disadvantages of funds
5. How to cope when the market is down
6. Many investing resources, including clubs, trading games, and helpful websites.

Speaking as a teenager, I would highly recommend this book to any young adult who wants to start investing!

This is an excellent introduction to the stock market for teenagers. The book is directed towards teenagers and accomplishes it's goal well. All teenagers should read this book to gain a starting knowledge of the American Stockmarket.
The book teaches stock vocabulary, trading tips, how to start, risk and rewards, and many other topics. But, this book is definitely an introduction - if you have a good knowledge of the stock market already, this might not be for you.

This book was easy to follow. I enjoyed the chapter on how to get a job on Wall Street. I am 14 and have already started saving for college thanks to this book. My mom made me read it. I was reluctant at first but now I am very glad she did. That is why I rate this book a five!!!!

Easy-to-read and comprehensive.......2000-10-25

"Street Wise" is a great introduction to the world of stocks and bonds. I thought that I knew the basics of how "The Street" works, but I learned a great deal from this book. The list of web sites in the back is really useful, and the interviews with past and present teen investors are also interesting.

The author writes clearly and doesn't talk down to teens. She doesn't promise that you'll become a billionaire overnight, but she does a great job of explaining how to make smart decisions with your money.

This book provides a progress report on the methodologies, progress and the forward agenda. The short (9 pages plus charts) Introduction by Ray Anderson of Interface Inc provides a brilliant and inspiring summary of what can be achieved and what is involved in achieving it.

This is a really great book, which seems to cover all the areas of California law. I've referred to the book on several occasions and have found my answer each time. The analysis was very understandable and the book gave me a strong background so I understood the law. In some cases the book told me the best approach to take to achieve whichever result I wanted. The author's approach is very practical and useful. It's a great book and a valuable reference that has really made a difference for me in several situations.

Excellent real estate resource text.......1999-11-03

Mr. Gordon's book, California Real Estate Law, is an excellent reference for the homeowners, for investors and for brokers. It covers more than just plain law, as the author includes his tips and tricks learned from his experiences as an attorney and as a broker. Sometimes it is just as important to know what the law is as to know when to use the law. The book was surprisingly readable. Some books on law are so confusing or technical as to be useless and others are so simple that they don't provide enough law to know what you're doing. Gordon's book is a good example of something done right.

It seems to cover the whole field of real estate law, from neighbors trees on your property to when to take title as community property instead of joint tenancy. It encompasses from zoning to homesteads, and from condemnation to property taxes. In short, the 23 chapters cover the whole field of law.

What I most appreciated was the expanded materials on contracts, leases, deposit receipts, listing agreements and deeds of trust. The author went over most of these documents clause by clause, explaining when to use a certain clauses and when to avoid them. I'm using it as a great reference when buying and selling properties. My son found it handy in fighting a lease eviction. I think it's an exceptional book that should be on every investor's shelf, every broker's desk, and in every homeowner's bookcase.
