A great pocket guide.......2000-05-14

Although this book is small, it really packs a punch. It's loaded with tons of information that will help you on your Virgin Islands trip. It's not big and bulky either, so it lessens the packing space. We used it in conjunction with Frommer's Virgin Islands and that was all that we needed for our week in paradise. If you are looking for a book of history or detailed background though, this one isn't for you.

Cohen (1894-1983) was a major architect of public policy from the first days of FDR's presidency through the early days of the Cold War. Although he kept a low public profile, Cohen's influence extended across a wide range of domestic and foreign policy initiatives. In this biography, William Lasser offers the first account of Ben Cohen's life and career, and an assessment of his contribution to the origin and development of modern American liberalism. Cohen's life provides an extraordinary lens through which to view the development of the evolving political philosophy of the Roosevelt and Truman presidencies. At long last a Ben Cohen biography.......2004-05-10

This is just a very fine biography of a virtually forgotten New Deal giant, Benjamin V. Cohen. Cohen was one-half of the famed New Deal drafting team along with Thomas Corcoran. Among their handiwork are such epic statutes as the Securities Act of 1933, the Securities Exchange Act of 1934, and the Public Utility Holding Company Act--monuments of the New Deal to say the least. Perhaps Cohen's slide into obscurity stemmed from his desire to avoid the limelight--just the opposite of Tommy the Cork. While his New Deal contributions are immense, the book explains that Cohen was more more than just a major architect of the New Deal. He was involved in Zionist activities; helped draft the Lend Lease legislation; served in the State Department after the Second War; and slipped into the role of "elder statesman" during his retirement. But above all, and always, Cohen was a superb and brilliantly-gifted lawyer. All of the many dimensions of Ben Cohen are in this extraordinary biography. Perhaps his slide into obscruity will be reversed and Cohen recognized for his significant accomplishments.

In ancient times, the romans, moving over the alps toward the town of Trier in Germany brought dogs to work the cattle herds brought along to feed the army. By the middle ages, Rottweil had developed a dog, based on local breeds and the cattle dogs of the Romans, which would care for stock, pull a cart and guard the master against robbers. Because the dog brought the cattle in for slaughter, then pulled the cart which delivered the meat to customers, the rottweiler was often called "the Butcher's Dog." This was a breed which originated with the poor man of the medieval times who needed a dog to help him in a variety of work, not the single purpose of the wealthy. the traditional view of the mississippian culture implies that these superchieftanships emerged along the mississippi river drainage areas and controlled vast territories from 1000 A.D. to 1400 A.D. then suddenly crashed due to warfare,drought,famine,cultural exhaustion,(or add your own cause here).This book refines this interpretation to where a completely different and complex picture emerges.The Mississippian complex at Cahokia is broken down into different phases,Lohman(early emergent Mississippian)to late Stirling phase and a couple in between each phase representing a distinct development that occurred at Cahokia.A book could undoubtedly be written on each of these phases alone. In even the earliest emergent phase Cahokia localities were already controlling nearby villages.As proof the author offers evidence from waste deposits(directly linked to this phase),that the "most desirable cuts of deer meat were being consumed at the Cahokia site".The author carefully uses this type of evidence and alot more examples to show the progression from early to late phases. There is also a well explained chapter on pottery that leaves on in awe.Since reading this book I can imagine the immense numbers of potters employed in this never ending labor,it must have struck one as one entered Cahokia during this period.I had previously imagined hunters filling the plaza with hunting or war trophies as a never ending game of Chunkey progresses in the plaza.Now I see the plaza covered with thousands of incised jars filled with about anything a person could think of. Pauketat also straightens out,using archaeological evidence,the question of populations of these Mississippian towns. In the 60's,it was said that Cahokia was a town of 38,000.Now that figure has been vastly downgraded as the Mississippian culture has been separated into phases and at its peak the population of Cahokia,was only a few thousand.Lastly Pauketat challenges the power and influence of these chieftanships,in actuality they controlled only a small local area and would have been in constant competition with other high ranking villages in the areas.There were apparently numerous rises and falls before the sites were abandoned permanently in the 1400's.Could it be the ceremonial complex at Cahokia no longer met the needs of the people who supported it?I have read previously in other works that the American Indian,"Sundance" ceremony of the plains Indians was probably instituted at Cahokia and as tribes abandoned this site and went west,they took this ceremony with them.The book is a fascinating read though i will admit i had trouble understanding the graphs and still don't.I had also never realized how many mounds were on the other side of East St. Louis and across the river where the city of St. Louis resides.Between the looting and destruction of so many of the mounds.one could wonder if a true picture of the Missippian culture around Cahokia could ever be completely accurate,but this book is a fresh attempt at it.

After reading the book and returning to it's pages for a while, I have been implementing into actions. My girlfriend and I of 6 months finally achieved the elusive explosion that few women achieve and it was in great part aided by the works of Mr. Lenoradi.

If you stick to the attention to detail that is described as well as ensure trust and comfort between you and your lover you will both feel something we all never knew was possible for most women (and the men providing it).

My girlfriend is still in amazement and its been a few days now since we made love. To hear, "I've never felt that before...it was so different..." to know that I got her to that level of pleasure is so fulfilling.

The trick to this book is precarious..........it could be hit and miss on different women...............like mine.............be patient, vary the techniques slightly and see what happens........it can only help.

This book is a truely great read, its simply written, short and to the point. Its a very informative read because not only does Tommy discuss what you need to do physically he also outlines how to act in order to allow your woman slip into a level of comfort with you that will heighten the intimacy of the sexual experience no end. Great sex book - it's just one technique, but done with love.......2006-11-10

Tommy Leonardi basically discovered the G-spot on his own, by accident. He is apparently a master at stimulating it until women have Earth-shaking, ejaculatory orgasms.

The technique itself is simple and has been described in many other places. What I like about this book is Leonardi's insistence on patience and building connection so that the woman feels comfortable and safe enough to let herself go into an incredibly intense experience over which she has little control.

Unfortunately, Leonardi goes into long stretches of giving specific orders to do one thing or not do another. He makes it sound like a strict protocol instead of a creative sharing.

I bought Secrets of Sensual Lovemaking as research for my next book, Hotter Safer Sex, which is about non-intercourse forms of sex. I'm glad I read it; it taught me a few new things and validated much of what I already knew. I think there's a lot more to Sensual Lovemaking than this book presents, but I also think anybody who reads it will be glad they did.

Surprising.......2006-06-27

My girlfriend always says everything's fine in bed, but I thought that I'd surprise her with a few new techniques. I've never bought a book like this before, but when I read it I thought it was extremely frank and dealt with the subject matter in a honest and unpretentious way.

When I was reading them I thought a lot of the suggestions sounded pretty simple, though I think my girlfriend was a little too surprised at a few of them when I subtly had a go over the weekend. I suppose I'd have to say perhaps this book is best when read together with a partner, or at least if she knows you've read it, or she might think you're doing something wrong. So, always get permission first, or at least explain what you're about to do, and that could help prevent any misunderstandings. But, at the end of the day, that's ultimately the message behind these books - it's all about communication. And I think that's really all we need, which is to talk more, so now I know more about what she does and doesn't like, and I think we're closer as a result.
