Book Description
Colletotrichum is one of the most widespread and important genera of plant pathogenic fungi worldwide, causing disease on many temperate and tropical crops. These fungi have also been used in many fundamental studies of plant-pathogen interactions and are being developed as mycoherbicides for the biological control of weeds. This book is the first to be devoted exclusively to these pathogens. It provides a definitive source of information, not only about the diseases caused by Colletotrichum, but also about its taxonomy and genetics, mechanisms of infection and of plant disease resistance, disease epidemiology, and control of diseases through the integration of methods based on chemicals, biocontrol agents and plant breeding. The work is an essential reference volume for plant pathologists and mycologists.

Customer Reviews:
metric system.......2006-06-06
I am not sure the person who wrote the chapter on Isla Mujeres is familiar with the metric system. "1 km or 1.6 miles." The back of the book has a conversion chart showing that 1km = .62 miles. They make this conversion mistake all throughout this chapter.
As good as any of the guide books.......2004-06-10
I spent the last three weeks in the Yucatan (and I had a wonderful time!), and found this to be a reliable guide. The rating system is dependable, the maps helpful, and for the most part the info is up to date. I will say this, you might concidering more than one guide book as all of them seem to have some defficincies. This would be most important for the independent travler and the travler who is planning to get away from the major resorts. You might also consider buying good maps. One other thing, Pick up "A Tourist in the Yucatan" Fun thriller!
Don't leave home with out it!.......2004-05-05
Just back from two weeks in Cancun and I found this book to be indespensible! The Maps were very acurate and I found the resturant rating system to be reliable. I can't say much about hotel ratings as I stayed at the same place the entire time. I think it would be hard to find a better all around guide book. Also check out "A Tourist in the Yucatan" fun thriller
Flip through, compare and contrast, and it looks the best.......2004-03-15
So many guidebooks! If you're going to the area, how do you know which to get? I just spent an hour flipping through all of the Cancun/Cozumel/Yucatan books at a local bookstore, and this looks like the best all-around for our trip to Cozumel. So for all you shoppers out there: I haven't been on the trip yet, but for what its worth, an hour of browsing determined this book the winner.
Adequate for your Parents.......2003-07-04
This book is pretty much what you would expect from Frommers. A good book showing what to do, with a certain kind of audience in mind. I would have to say its not for the backpacker type or the budget traveler. But good if you are a don't get your feet wet kind of a person. ....

Customer Reviews:
Don't waste your time!.......2005-09-07
Do not buy this book! To make a long story short, the prices are not accurate, many attractions/hotels are not listed, and a few things in the book have since shut down. Not once on my 10 day trip did I actually stay at a hotel they listed... why? Because I EASILY found cheaper hotels which were just as nice! (yes, i looked at the hotels in their book). I was especially disappointed with the Mexico City section, which was not very accurate.
For example, they listed a place called "Avalos Brothers" as one of their "finds", a glass blowing place in Mex. City. Guess what? Closed down over a year ago. Why is this in the 2005 book? Thanks for wasting a perfectly good afternoon. They mentioned that the Zocalo has live music every Sunday night after 6pm. TOTALLY WRONG.
Don't get me started on the directions... the map is not very accurate and detailed and only shows the major cities. The map was so bad that I had to get another map of Mexico to reference.
In short, this is a very terrible guide and should be avoided. I have traveled to all of Central America and much of Asia, mostly on Lonely Planet and Moon books, and had much more success.
Typical Frommer's Guide.......2005-08-10
Like most Frommer's guidebooks, this one serves its target audience reasonably well. Frommer's are best for travellers going to tourist orientated areas with a moderate to high budget. For backpackers on the cheap or other people that want a more complete guide to Mexico, especially off the beaten path places, I would recommend either Lonely Planet or Moon. But for the convential tourist Frommer's is a perfectly good choice.
A GREAT GUIDE-WELL WORTH IT.......2003-07-19
Don't leave to Mexico without getting this guide. It's packed full of useful tips and by the end of our 3 week trip around Mexico it became well used, both by us and by other travellers frequently wanting to look something up (we ended up letting someone we met use the guidebook after we left as they were always asking to use it). It takes you into the little known details of Mexico, educates you on the cultures, guides you through different alleys to get to a destination and the map that comes with it was great to get an overall feel of where we were and where we were planning to go to. Prices were accurate and I liked the fact that this guide book caters to both the traveller that really wants to find out what Mexico is about and travel the back road as well as catering to the tourist in us all that ocassionally wants to step out of the back roads and just be... well... just be a tourist for a day. And as usual, restaurant reviews are top notch (catering for both those on a budget and those that have a bit of money to splurge). I recommend using this book for Mexico and if you plan on extending your travel after that to some of the other countries in the region for a shorter period of time to also have the Footprint guide to Mexico & Central America as it has good info on Belize, Guatemala, etc.
Waste of Money.......2003-07-08
This will be our last Frommer's. Left out info on some of the best markets in Mexico; Leon, Aguascalientes, others; and nothing on Monterrey. We found many inaccuracies as regards directions and locations given by authors. Some maps were in accurate and info was outdated on many of the cities we visited north of Mexico City. Had the same problems a few years back with Frommer's European guides. Don't waste your money like we did. Our last Frommer's!
Ahem....There *IS* a Northern Part to This Country.......2003-04-30
Purports to be a comprehensive guide, but conveniently overlooks everything in the northern tier, including the entire states of Tamaulipas, Coahuila, Nuevo Leon, Sonora, and Durango. Can you imagine a U.S. travel guide that just "forgets to mention" whole regions like the southwest, or New England, or the east coast? You'd probably think such a guide was [bad]-- and that's pretty much how I view the Frommer's guide. Leaving out Monterrey (the third largest city in the country) is inexcusible given the huge range of attractions, hotels, and events that go on in that part of the country. To further overlook the whole border region, the northern Gulf coast, and the desert cities like Hermosillo is just plain ridiculous. If all you want is an overview of the beach resorts and Mexico City, and similar places that have already been covered by everyone else, then this guide will do in a pinch. If you want true comprehensive travel info and true insight to the country as a whole, look elsewhere.

Customer Reviews:
Great book!.......2007-09-06
I picked this book up at a garage sale a couple weeks ago because I'm always interested in books on this topic, having 3 dogs at home. It really is a great problem-solving book, and is easy to read and understand. I like the fact that McSoley gives you more than one way to deal with most of the behavior problems described in the book, too.
Another book I recommend is The Other End of the Leash by Patricia McConnell. It's not a how-to book, but it gives some great insights into dog vs. human behavior and how to communicate effectively with your dog.
Best Dog Training Book Out There!!.......2004-11-30
This book was recommended to me by a vet 10 years ago. I had a very out of control dog, and we were her third owners. I got this book out of the library and read it from cover to cover. We began training the dog with the tips that Ray used in the book. To this day, even though she is going deaf, our dog comes when we blow a whistle three times. We even had Ray come to our house and give us tips to help her. Ray really saved our dog. I could not have kept her if he didn't help us train her. She is now a very well behaved, sweet dog. I highly recommend this book to anyone getting a dog. I even bought a used copy and have loaned it to lots of friends who got puppies. I look forward to his next book, A Ray of Hope - Helping Dogs with People Problems.
A wonderful source for solving behavioral problems.......2000-04-28
I found Ray's antedotal appraoch to behavioral problems very refreshing. By showing exactly what the owners were doing wrong, I was able to see if my problems were similiar enough to warrent the same correction. Ray really respects the fact that not all dogs are the same and as a result, he presents several remedies for the reader to try. In general, Ray showed me that we are always teaching our dogs, whether we want to or not. As a result, I am much more aware of timing, proper corrections and how I interact with my puppy. A must read for all of us lucky enough to have a dog in our lives.

Customer Reviews:
Yep, it works!.......2007-09-19
I bought this for my mom, who was diagnosed with diabetes. She said this was incredibly informative and easy to read (as an example, she found out that a baked potato is the sugar-equivalent of eating several dozen tablespoons of sugar, or something wild like that). Anyhoo, she never heard of this book until I bought it for her and she has since given it to famiy members and friends to read. She has even highlighted passages. To me, those are pretty good indications that this book is a smart purchase.
Looking great.......2007-09-04
So much advice about diets and losing weight is out there on the market that you don't know which expert advice is really worth following. Should you look for food with less calories, less fat , less cabohydrates, less what? Sugar Busters clarifies the problem of why most of us are overweight and gives, in my opinion, an understandable and logical explanation to our misgivings while indicating to us which foods are most acceptable for those wanting to lose weight and which foods are anathema, i.e. don't even think of eating them. A surprisingly good, readable, enjoyable and informative book. Worth the money and time spent on reading it!
Rowmaniac.......2007-07-19
I've always been a healthy eater, attempting to choose low fat foods and healthy portions, but after a few years of decreased activity I was 65 pounds overweight. I read this book, and a light went on for me: it was not how much or little I was allowing myself to eat, but rather the type of foods I was eating. Everything set forth in this book made good medical sense to me. Even my doctor had told me, "If the cavemen did not have the food you are about to eat, choose something else. Enough of all the processed foods!" I should have listened sooner.
The book sets for the medical reasoning behind why some of us gain weight despite eating what others might think is a "healthy" diet. Minor substitutions and changes in what type of sugars I eat and when I eat them has helped me lose 60 pounds and keep it off!
The wonderful aspect of Sugar Busters is that the diet is a "lifelong way of eating" rather than some fad. In fact, this diet is prescribed as a medically sound way to prevent or control diabetes, which has become almost an epidemic in America. I have spent the last year using the tools I learned from this easy reading book to change my life, my body, and my outlook. People now want me to tell them how I got so healthy, while never wearing the frown of deprivation that other diets would put on my face. This eating plan has changed my life. I am not a religious person, but if I were, I'd want to preach about the merits of following this sound plan and getting a healthy body and mind in the process.
If you read this book, take the time to think about the concepts set forth, and make the easy changes to implement the principles in the book, you cannot avoid losing weight. It just works. I have never been hungry for a minute, and those 60 pounds are not going to return. I am 100% confident that this is the plan I have always been searching for.
Read the book and go for it!!! All you have to lose are those extra pounds.
The New Sugar Busters.......2007-06-30
Great book, easy to read and understand. Information makes perfect sense as a way to eat right.
great book.......2007-05-08
the book was sent in a few days, its a small book but right to the point and this is an easy way of eating to keep from having diabeties and to loose weight, thank you.

This is the best book for a Sugar Buster user. It is the quickest way to check a food and an easy helper at the grocery store.
SUGAR BUSTERS SHOPPERS GUIDE.......2007-09-13
I found this book to be a waste of money. I didn't learn anything from it that I had not already found in the Brennan's book.
Inadequate Sugar Buster Guide.......2007-08-31
This is a skinny, incomplete list that's very little help. Yes, it's inexpensive but I wouldn't bother.
Beating the sugar rush.......2007-08-05
This is a handy little guide for anyone who is trying to lower their sugar intake, and really great for someone who has to make life style changes. Good tips, great lists of products.

Although it only took me a couple of hours to read Faith and Fortune: A Mormon Family in Hollywood, I found it a painful experience. Kimball Jacobs wrote this book in an overblown, affected writing style. What's more, this book is absolutely riddled with typos and grammatical errors. I got the feeling that Jacobs himself didn't even read his manuscript after he was finished writing it. Consequently, the writing reveals a serious lack of proficiency in the English language that could have been cleared up had Jacobs only had someone read his book before he published it.
It was obvious to me that Faith and Fortune: A Mormon Family in Hollywood was written with no input from the Jacobs kids themselves. Readers get a very limited point of view based on Kimball Jacobs' own memories and second hand experiences he gained vicariously through his children's time in Hollywood. Unless you're so curious about the Jacobs kids that you must read everything that's ever been written about them, I would highly recommend skipping this book.
Falls Shamefully Short.......2002-09-05
The true story of the Jacobs kids in Hollywood remains one which will probably never be told. They may be the most connected LDS family in Hollywood since the Osmonds, and yes, to a degree their story is interesting, but probably not interesting enough to warrant the writing of a book. A truly gifted biographer could have made it a worthwhile read, yet practically every bit of this fairy tale is based solely on the fuzzy memories of their estranged father. Kimball Jacobs seems content to embellish, omit or otherwise alter the facts whenever it seems convenient. To say the least, the obvious disregard for detail coupled with poor grammar make it frustrating to follow. Aside from obvious misspellings and excruciating misuse of punctuation, the inconsistent sentence structure will drive you nuts. None of Kimball's children (the actual subjects of the book) willingly participated in the production process. Evidence of this exists in their conspicuous absence from his list of acknowledgements. In fact, several of them specifically asked that he not write the book out of respect for their privacy. Nevertheless, he produced a hundred pages of drivel and covered it with a collage of stolen photos in hopes of exchanging their dignity for the Almighty Dollar.
Faith and Fortune.......2002-08-17
This is a totally unauthorized version of exploiting your own family. Each child involved feels used. Each child involved requested that it not be printed and Dad went right ahead... not only that, even if the story is interesting, it is terribly written and tweaked in its approach ...Mom thinks this is unforgivable..

Like R. F. Foster in W. B. Yeats: A Life, Canadian scholar Keith Alldritt concentrates on Yeats's public activities and his relationships with others. (The poet's interior struggles and creativity are amply considered in Yeats's memoirs and Richard Ellmann's 1948 critical biography.) Alldritt's succinct work covers the entire life in broad strokes and links Yeats to developments in Europe as well as Ireland. His Yeats is no dreamy mystic, but a "brawler and scrapper," an ambitious careerist preoccupied with status and money--very human and accessible to the general reader.
Book Description
In the first full-scale biography of William Butler Yeats in more than 45 years, Keith Alldritt radically alters the traditional portrait of one of the greatest and most beloved poets of the 20th century. Placing Yeats within the context of his times, he reveals the determined careerist, shrewd manipulator, and political operator behind Yeats' familiar image as a dreamer, idealist and mystic. 16-page photo insert.
