Description:
The South Nation River Watershed, in eastern Ontario, Canada, is an agricultural watershed impacted by excess nutrient loading primarily from agricultural activities. A constructed wetland for the treatment of agricultural wastewater from a 150-cow dairy operation in this watershed was monitored in its eighth operating season to evaluate the proportion of total nitrogen (TN) (approximated by total Kjeldahl nitrogen (TKN) due to low NO"3^-) and total phosphorus (TP) removal that could be attributed to storage in Typha latifolia L. and Typha angustifolia L., which dominate this system. Nutrient loading rates were high, with 16.2kgha^-^1d^-^1N and 3.4kgha^-^1d^-^1P entering the wetland and loading the first wetland cell. Plant uptake accounted for 0.7% of TKN removal when the vegetated free water surface cells were considered together. However, separately, in the second wetland cell with lower N and P loading rates, plants accounted for 9% of TKN, 21% of NH"4^+ and 5% of TP removal. Plant uptake was significant to overall removal given wetland age and nutrient loading. Nutrient storage during the growing season at this constructed wetland helped reduce the nutrient load entering the watershed, already stressed by intensive local agriculture.

Driving Through Europe.......2000-05-21

A friend of mine loaned this book to me to read since I have been considering a driving tour of Europe. I am going to order my own copy now because after reading the book, I am now confident enough to actually make the trip. My copy will go with me to guide me through the areas I want to see. As usual Frommer gives you the ins and outs so if you are thinking of making the trip, this book is a must. See you in Europe!

Best Little Book that Reveals the Rise and Fall of an Islamic Hitler .......2006-12-30

This small book on Saddam Hussein was compiled by the National Enquirer.I expected a biased and made-up biography about the most evil man the arabic world has produced.Instead,it gives ,in brief chapters,the complete truthful major events of Saddam's entire life.Many people will see the parallels of Saddam and that of Adolf Hitler.If you know military history. Saddam Hussein tried to shape a cultural personality ,in the same way as Josef Stalin.Saddam was a member of the Iraqi Communist Baath party.But felt that the Iraqi communist leaders were selling out to the wishes of the Soviet Union.Hence,Saddam developed his pan-iraqi republican-iraqi labor socialist party.Saddam being his self-appointed leader,after his toadies won influencial seats to the Iraqi parliment, in 1979.All republican regimes end in failure,at some point.-Check out this book and don't dismiss it so soon.Just because some say it's 'boulevard-journalism',judge for yourself.

Good book if you don't watch CNN.......2003-09-08

This book is for teenagers that haven't watched the news and are doing a book report. Saying this, if you watch CNN and have followed the events of the both Gulf wars or even have a vague idea about what went on during these two conflicts, then 60% of this book is basically a broad and generalized summary of those events.

The first quarter of the book is interesting if you're curious as to how Saddam came to power as a young Islamic buck. Then especially interesting is Saddam's sons Uday and Quasay (whatever). Both sons would make your pot smoking kid look like an angel in comparison to the sadistic naughtiness of these two young Persian Gulf monsters.

The book reads like a text book, and lacks any sense of eloquence. Buy this book for your least favorite uncle.

Considering this book is the only book to be written by Don Linville, it is a masterpiece of truth and reality. Mr. Linville is lured into the illegal drug industry in order to keep his boat, as many a pirate has done before him. It should be made into a movie.

This book is about boats and smuggling dope. I know nothing at all about boats of any kind or anything at all about dope or any of the terminology used for dope. The author is very informative about the boats and boating terminology and what all the slang terms for dope means, so you can follow along with everything going on and not get lost in all of the slang used. This is a true story and very entertaining to read. I bought the book for my husband but I got so caught up in the story, I found it hard to put the book down. I just can't say enough good things about this book. I think everyone that buys it will enjoy it immensely.

My kids love Redwall. If your's do to, this is a good companion. The poster is pretty neat. I also recommend books by Robert Stanek, Kingdoms and the Elves, the Elf Queen and the King. A Series of Unfortunate Events Books. Other books by Robert Stanek.

Cool poster.......2001-04-07

this book is great. The packet isn't much, but the poster is awesome. It includes the most important charachters (good and bad guys). It has beautiful artwork and shows the sword of Martin, which I was curious about. It's GRRRRRREAT!!!!!!

Disappointing and misleading.......2001-03-12

We bought this for our library collection... and there is nothing in the description to show that this is a flimsy paperback "guide" (glued to a piece of cardboard that cannot be circulated) to the Redwall characters and a large poster. The poster is pretty, but this is not at all what we thought we were getting. I would give this less than one star if it were possible

Nice production with exc. photographs... inaccurate values........1997-09-30

When first picked up this looks like a real winner! Nice photography, good text, excellent range of different items, However, upon closer inspection there are errors in the identification and I feel a lot of 'guesstimation' on some of the items. The values listed are ridiculously low for some of the items values. I would love to be able to pick up some of this stuff for what she has it listed for!

Schiffer, as always does an excellent job from the publishing end. I still feel there is a lot of merit to this book simply from the sharp clear photographs and some of the text. All in all... still a good reference book... just be careful!

This is a great knowledge (reference) book on herbs from identification, cultivation, harvesting, to uses. The book "Flavoring with Culinary Herbs" by Mary El-Baz would be a great companion book.

I love this book. The author did a great job. I also recommend (particularly for families with younger children) FOLLOWING ASLAN by Kenneth McIntosh. Both these authors do a great job relating Narnia to real life, as well as to the Bible.

This was a great tool to use as a family!! We have enjoyed reading the series to our boys 9yrs old, 7yrs old, and 2yrs old. The boys had great fun finding the stories in the Bible (using this guide)and seeing how they are simular. It helped them pay attention to the story so the could discuss the questions in the guide!
