Book Description
Recorded history is a finely-woven magic fabric of intricate lies about events predating the sixteenth century. There is not a single piece of evidence that can be reliably and independently traced back earlier than the eleventh century. This book details events that are substantiated by hard facts and logic, and validated by new astronomical research and statistical analysis of ancient sources.

Calculations are only as good as your numbers.......2007-08-03
Yes, we can all agree that mainstream history is nearly 100% BS due to politics, economics, ego, problems with dating techniques, and various conspiracies. Agreed. But, I've been researching the distinct possibility that human history (in terms of civilizations) are much more ancient than we've been told, so coming across this book was very interesting to me. I wondered how Fomenko could be wrong (if at all) because he is very persuasive in his presentations. Then it dawned on me. If at previous times in prehistory, due to the various catastrophies that are well documented (comets, asteroids, planetary disruptions, plasma discharge, pole reversals, etc) the Earth was in a different position in relation to the sun, different tilt on its axis, different orbit, different rotation (in terms of velocity and DIRECTION), and the continents were in different positions, then would this not cause the ancients to see the sky (constellations) differently? In other words, is Fomenko making erronious assumptions about the physics of the Earth in pre-history, which then corrupt his data with regards to dating the relevant astrology? The last event to seriously disrupt our planet occured roughly 3500 years ago, according to other good researchers, so is it possible Fomenko has been confused by this? The vastly different physics of our planet in the not so distant past may explain this confusion, which is not to say the "mainstream" version of history is correct; on the contrary. I am not an expert in these fields, but wanted to see if this idea could spark discussion.
Pants on fire?.......2007-07-19
Will people ever read before spamming? Yes, Jesuits could not rewrite world history alone, they had help. Anyway, Dr Prof Acad A.Fomenko does not point to jesuits as the driving force of world wide history manipulation in published volumes 1,2,3;, actually he barely mentions the poor devils. Check it with 'Search inside' feature, please. China is rarely mentioned either, in fact, Dr Fomenko is completely eurocentric. Right, his theory contradicts all mainstream schools of history, because in their actual state they are all built on blatantly erroneus chronology. You don't need a mysterious cabal (conspiracy) to falsify history, the falsification is its modus operandi. It is inherent to history(ians) to falsify (distort) events, as it is inherent to humans to boast as it is inherent to power (authority) to legimize itself by referrring to glorious past made to its own order. Dr Prof Fomenko and team have identified scores of instances of such manipulation in Russian, European, etc.. history, and delivered valid statistical proof thereof. His own 'reconstruction' is completely another story. Forget c14 as a valid method of dating. W.Libby has initially discovered a brilliant method of INDEPENDENT dating. Too bad, c14 method has become a joke after a forced marrige with dendrochronology with consensual chronological scale inbuilt. Radiocarbon method can't stand blind tests, but is so very productive as a rubberstamp.
Accepted History & Chronology Must Be Changed. .......2007-04-09
There is no doubt that history as most know it is a sham, & institution's version of History both University & Church is fradulent & inaccurate. Everything was established with an agenda, The real "Dark Ages" are now when we have access to incredible amounts of information past authorities & more important 'common folk' didn't have but our institutions & educators are slow to evolve because of what has ignorantly & arrogantly been taught for too long. This is on many subjects not just Chronology.
For anyone to question "Why would a Mathematician have anything credible to say of History?" The answer is from Dr. Fomenko's preface in the book: "It would be worthwhile to remind the reader that in the XVI-XVII century Chronology was considered to be a subdivision of Mathematics." These volumes could possibly be some of the most important works to date & should be read by everyone with an interest in History, especially professors & educators who have a duty to the public. I have read both books & must say that 'Chronology 1' has some very eye opening & revolutionary information. Even if these volumes are part true the implications are profound & opens the doors to further investigations & questions which must be done. I speak several different lanquages & must say the logic Dr. Fomenko uses with "inflection" of words & words being read from left to right in one region & right to left in another then written backwards, the removal of vowels & get down to basics of words, or different cities & locations having the same name etc. is correct. Vowel usage has always been optional & varied, actually complicating linquistics & study. The first thing one has to understand is that words never had a fixed spelling in history like we do now, the spelling of words was mutable & regional, as well as names & titles of people were vast, varied & changed, NOTHING WAS FIXED or understood linear. Matters of Life & Death as well as financial profiteering yesterday & today were & are made with ignorant, illogical & conspiratorial views of history & reality, it's time people get closer to the Truth & society collectively grow up.
Very Interesting.......2007-03-07
It is a good proposal and I believe it will mature into something even better in the future. I think it deserves to be read.
History as Science Fiction.......2007-01-10
Anatoly Fomenko has written a very intriguing book, full of pictures, charts, and computer 'proof' of his thesis: backwards of AD900 we don't really know what happened or when. Between AD900 and AD1600 there is more certainty, but there is still a lot of fuzzy ground, and things don't get reliable until we get past the 1600's where the printing press made it very difficult for the perpetrators of this timeline manipulation to change anything that had been committed to print. The Dark Ages did not happen. Books were burned for a reason. One organization has doubled the actual length of its existence by expanding the real chronology. Read why.
I had always wondered why Christ died about AD33 and yet men waited until the 11th century to form the Knights Templar, the Cathars, etc and go after the Holy Land by force. Why the 1000 year gap? Turns out there wasn't more than a 10-12 year gap and he proves it using astronomy. This also implies that the planet is not as old as we have been told, and current Christian and other creationist scientists are already championing that idea without being aware of Fomenko's book. The two groups, creationist scientists and the Russian mathematical analysts corroborate each other. Fascinating.
Of course, all this flies in the face of what we have been told traditionally is the 'proper' chronology of western civilization, and most readers will experience 'cognitive dissonance' in reading this book. It means that our history going backwards from AD1600 becomes progressively more incorrect and unreliable until it cannot be trusted at all... in the space of 700-800 years.
Naturally, the curious, open-minded reader will want to know WHO did this, WHY, and did any of the events we think of as really ancient ever happen?
Dr. Fomenko is a respected scientist/mathematician at Moscow State University who has already answered these questions to the satisfaction of his initially skeptical colleagues. Most of them are now believers, a few still refuse to believe (the usual diehards), and of course the western press has ignored Fomenko's work -- for obvious reasons when you read the book. The ones who perpetrated this chronology ruse have a lot to answer for. They are still with us. That's why this book is a well-kept secret.
I gave the book a 4-star rating because I was unable to check out some of his claims; those I checked were as he said. But if even 1/3 of his claims are true, this punches a big hole in what we think is our history, the meaning of western civilization, our educational process (for repeating the ruse as gospel), and the trustworthiness of the organization that perpetrated this ruse, well-intentioned or not.
This book relates to current research into a Young Earth paradigm, to John Keel's discoveries about our planet, and Fr Malachi Martin's insights (in his now out-of-print books). We are indeed sheep who are manipulated and kept ignorant -- for a reason. While knowing what these men have to say may be the "booby prize" (as in: 'what can you do with this knowledge?'), it will provide interesting reading. Didn't someone say: "...and the Truth will set you free."?? For you to judge if this book contains the truth.

A wonderful collection of stories from the heart.......2003-10-09
Congratulations Inge on a wonderful collection of stories from life on the farm! I too have had a life in the country and can relate to your experiences. I too raised ducks and chickens, but as a child. Your heartwarming stories are obviously from the heart. I particularly liked the 'Window Box' and the
'Secret Garden'. My husband has just started reading the book and is also enamoured with it.Jeanette Lehmann.
A Great Book.......2001-12-18
I really enjoyed reading this book. It is a collection of many enchanting short stories that are full of love, joy and humor. I like the variety of subjects the author wrote from the joys of country life to the encounters with nature and animals. The stories are filled with feeling and personal experiences. I find the stories so real and very easy to relate to. They are uplifting and encouraging. For those who have children or pets, this is a must read book. Annie
Congratulations Inge!!.......2001-12-13
Your book was great, the stories are so full of love and heart. I can't wait for the next book.
Richly Rewarding.......2001-12-12
A charming book. Simple tales of country life full of warmth, wit and wisdom. Good to read, and good to read again. What's it about? Life. Told in a straightforward narrative style that's deceptively simple. It seems as if this writer has lived a lot. The stories aren't long. The simplicity belies the keenness of her observations and the integrity of her opinions. Deeply felt and moving. I especially enjoyed reading one in the evening before sleep. It was like visiting an old friend.
A woman's view of love for all living things.......2001-12-12
This book contains stories on a large variety of experiences with animals, children and family activities. It brings into focus the simple pleasures derived from country living while reaching into the twentyfirst century. Much like the desire people express in wanting to sit on the front porch of a Victorian house, these stories show us that by simply opening our eyes and taking the road less traveled, we can remove ourselves from the stresses of modern life and nourish our souls by opening our hearts to nature, without having to escape to a different time. Wonderful stories shared by an obviously sensitive person who is very much in touch with her feelings and knows how to express them well.

Plymouth Yarn's Book.......2006-10-27
I love the afghans in this book. But it is a promotion for Plymouth Yarn Company. That is expensive yarn. I had to find substitute yarns.
Poor book binding.......2006-09-29
I bought this book on the recomendation of a friend. I really like the patterns but the book is very poorly bound. After opening it to the pattern I used, the pages in front and behind immediately separated and were loose. My friend had the same experience with her book. Very poor binding. I must spend money to have the book rebound now. I would hesitate to buy another book by this publisher.
Carolyn from WI
Promoting Plymouth.......2006-07-25
Excellent patterns! Was surprised, however, to see that ALL were done with (and call for) Plymouth yarn.
Very contemporary.......2006-06-06
There is something for all levels of knitting - from the easy ones to the difficult ones. The colors and styles are fairly contemporary. There is such a variety that you are sure to find a several that appeal to you. There is very little in the line of instruction, so you best know how to knit before purchasing.
Beautiful Designs with Easy-to-Follow Instructions.......2006-02-04
"Easy Afghans for Knitters" presents 67 beautiful afghan designs, all shown in a wide variety of Plymouth yarns. The afghan designs do indeed cover a range of knitting skills, with a large majority of the patterns requiring nothing more complicated than the knit and purl stitch. For the more experienced knitter, though, there are several lovely patterns featuring intarsia knitting and lace patterns. Almost all of the designs are written for knitting on circular needles, which is an excellent time-saving technique, eliminating the need for lots of finishing after the knitting is done. I am nearly finished with a really cute cotton afghan called "Smocking Stripes", then I'm ready to tackle one with cables.
Another great feature of the book is that it comes with a spiral binding that allows the book to lie flat. This makes it particularly easy to refer to the pattern while knitting.
The only reason that I do not give this book five stars is that a lot of the patterns are written specifically for yarns produced by Plymouth yarn, many of which are very hard to find and/or are very expensive yarns. For example: twenty-seven balls of a Plymouth mohair blend yarn (Le Fibre Nobil), plus an additional 21 balls of a Plymouth novelty lame yarn (Odyssey Glitz), are required to make the afghan called "Monet Miters Squares", one of my favorite designs in the book, as shown. The suggested retail price of each of these yarns is $10.99 per ball, so I won't be knitting this one in the specified yarns unless I win the lottery!
Most of the other designs in the book, though, seem like they would lend themselves to substitution with other more easily available yarns. If you enjoy knitting afghans, then this beautiful book is sure to provide you with inspiration for many projects.

Start here!.......2006-10-10
This is an awesome book to start out with. This book covers the basics but also works in relationship issues. Several books I have read talk about the technical parts of BDSM, but miss the day to day lives of the players. If your starting out this book is almost mandatory. Great resources and makes you think through BDSM so you can zero in on what you like and dont.
Curiousity didn't kill the cat........2006-05-18
I was torn between this book and some of the books actually refered to in this book, whether in the text or the "additional reading" section and I'm glad to say that I started with this one. While it didn't really teach me anything I didn't already know, it was a re-assurance. It did enlighten me to a few things and make me want to learn more. Overall, I say it's a great place to start and a quick, easy read.
Written to a SHARP Point!.......2003-12-27
Having been involved in various aspects of kink since the late 70's, I'm usually unimpressed with the crop of fad-riding how to's about the subject popping up these days. Come Hither, however, breaks through the pack and stands out remarkably as a MUST READ if you're serious about understanding the amazing possibilities that can come from exploring natural, kink-filled passions (or need a useful tool in helping a loved one understand).
Rather than coming off as a stale, academic guide, Dr. Gloria Brame has witfully woven together all of the basics in an innovative form that can be easily molded to individual tastes. Her experience in the field of sexology comes through solidly in the many technical tips offered in the text, but I also found that the book provided a nice blend of pertinent anecdotes and useful opinions that gives the reader ample food for thought in drawing their own conclusions. While perhaps not groundbreaking in its content, Come Hither clearly leaps to the head of the class as a literary model in portraying kink as healthy, safe, exciting and most of all, FUN!
Great info. Great ideas. Great style. I strongly recommend it to everyone regardless of experience level.
Finally, the answers to your most gnawing questions.......2003-12-15
Are you curious about kink, but too shy to ask? Then "Come Hither: A Commonsense Guide to Kinky Sex" is the answer to your prayers. Brame's warmth and humor make this an entertaining read for anyone, but her intended audience is that enormous segment of society that would never - ever! - venture into a public venue to explore their kink. (Some with secret kinky fantasies that they're afraid to tell ANYONE about.) This is a kinky sex-positive message for the uninitiated masses, (or the newly initiated who are still figuring things out) and for anyone with someone kinky in their life. (Doesn't that about cover everyone?) Not to be confused with the numerous "how-to" guides available, "Come Hither" has a distinctly (but unobtrusively) therapeutic slant, educating and making us feel good about kinky sex. For its scope and readability and potential to change lives, I rank this one right up there with the original, unabridged "The Joy of Sex."
Very useful and I loved it!.......2003-12-07
This is a great book about a lot of aspects of kink. I found it very helpful and straightforward, and it touches on a lot of subjects. It's very easy to read, and it's something I recommend for anyone who's at all interested in the subject matter. The book is more of a handbook, and that's what I really liked about it -- it's very easy to stop and start if you want to try things out, or to sit and read through to see what appeals to you.

Book Description
Long before it was fashionable for women reporters to cover war, photojournalist Dickey Chapelle was a familiar figure on the front. Clad in fatigues, harlequin glasses, and her signature pearl earrings, this tiny woman with the voice of a drill instructor was a legend among enlisted men. From Iwo Jima to the landing of the first U.S. Marine in Vietnam and every shooting war in between, Dickey led the pack, reporting for Life, Reader's Digest, and National Geographic. Then in 1965, at the age of 46, she was killed by a mine in Vietnam. Shortly before her death she was awarded the Overseas Press Club's Polk Award and the Magazine Photographer's Photographer of the Year Award. Based on dozens of interviews and Chappelle's personal papers, this electrifying tribute chronicles not only the brilliance of her career but the essence of her character, including the determination of her youth and willingness to buck convention and parental objection to follow her dreams.
Customer Reviews:
Not exactly what I was expecting........2004-08-05
The book is very factual and an easy read because the author is a journalist herself. However Ms. Ostroff tends to engage in some hero worship with her subject, which came as something of a disappointment to me. Overall not a bad book but not one I'm keeping on my shelf.
A story that needed to be told..........2003-08-27
Interesting book about Dickey Chapelle. She wanted to be a pilot, but became a photojournalist--the first woman photographer to get accredation to cover the war in the Pacific in World War II. After that, she was present at nearly every noteworthy conflict or event there was--if something was going on, Dickey wanted to be there, and usually got her way. She worked for Life, Reader's Digest, National Geographic, and many other magazines and papers. She was killed in 1965, while with the Marines in Vietnam.
Her personal life was not always smooth sailing, and I find it incredible that she achieved all she did.
What I found most interesting about Dickey was her spirit--she didn't let conventions or anybody stand in her way. She was a trailblazer in her field, and I'm glad that Roberta Ostroff wrote this book--Dickey certainly deserves recognition for her courage and and heroism.
A very good look at a fascinating life.......2002-05-29
I was actually a bit annoyed to find this book, since I didn't know anyone had written Chapelle's biography, and I had thought of doing it myself. That said, Ostroff has written it much better than I could have. While what drove Dickey Chapelle to her achievements and disasters remains a bit hard to grasp, Ostroff has done an excellent job of tracing her cliffhanger career. There are nitpicks: Ostroff puts herself in Chapelle's head at times, as if she knows exactly what Dickie was thinking, and there is no mention of Chapelle's spiritual beliefs or lack thereof. Despite these slips, the book is an excellent tale, well told. I've recommended it widely.
