Well researched.......2002-08-20

Most Churchill books are hagiographies, and most suffer from similarity. This book does not fall into such banality. It is thoughtful, discusses a myriad of topics and is even-balanced in its assessment of Churchill. In comparing Churchill to other 20th century leaders, thinkers, innovators and personalities, Read helps set Churchill's historical record in perspective and deals with the faults as well as the merits of an interesting man.

It is well researched, however Read could have used more original source notes and some sections need improvement in source backup and detail. However the book is balanced, not a hagiography and makes a good addition to anyone's collection on Churchill.

I liked this book because I have a dog and we are having trouble training him on some things.

This was an info book and I learned how to train my dog to sit and lie down because he is constantly begging for food and chasing the cats.

I would recommend this book to people who are having trouble with their dogs and those who just got one because it has a lot of things like how to clean and to make sure they're healthy.

My 8 year old grandson loves this book that we got him for Christmas. He works on it all the time. Would like more Canadian stuff in it but not really a huge problem. Would buy this for the others when they are older.

My 9-y-o and 6-y-o children LOVED this book! They are a bit on the "geeky" side but also typically quite boisterous. Very diversionary.

Dandelion Lover Disappointed!.......2005-05-05

I love dandelions and I thought this would be a good book, but I was dissapointed, and after reading the book in its entirety, upset. I found that the author plagerised many parts of her book, especially from the book DANDELIONS ARE FREE By: Joanne Juliette Henry and Stacy L. Wanchisn which was published before a few years before this book. There are even some instances where whole paragraphs are copied. What kind of writer does that and why? The author also does not list a single reference. That was annoying. This book in my opinion is a waste of money and time to read, as there are much better books on dandelions. The only thing that I have to say nice about this book is the illustrations are funky and cute.

This fetching little tome is written in praise of that bane of suburban lawns...the dandelion. Not many people realize that the dandelion is not native to North America, but was brought over by the Puritans who could not imagine life without it! This book is written is a psalm of praise of the dandelion, reintroducing it to the American people.

This book contains nutritional facts about dandelions, recipes, dandelion lore, it's herbal uses, poems in praise of the dandelion, and so much more. This book may not make you fall in love with the dandelion, but it will give you a different view of it. I enjoyed this book immensely, and I think that you will too!

A Perfect Gift.......2000-05-13

I just received Dandelion as a gift, and consumed it immediately. From the whimsical illustrations to the clever and personal introduction (I could smell the grass being mowed!), there is information I never dreamed of - although I did a lot of dreaming as a girl making wishes and blowing the puff balls of this ever more interesting plant! I hope to try all the recipes and potions, but mostly can't wait to try the "magic" tucked in between the poetry and enlightenment of these precious pages! This little treasure will be my answer each time I can't think of the "Perfect Gift"!

This is a none-scientific book. It is based on hocus pocus ideas. I threw it away as soon as I got it. I wouldn't even give it to my friends.

Being the author of two books on cleansing and rejuvenating the body, The Amazing Liver and Gallbladder Flush, and Timeless Secrets of Health & Rejuvenation, I can only praise Linda's precious work and recommend it to anyone interest in improving his health. Without cleansing the organs and systems of the body we stand little chance of being healthy or restoring our health in this pollution-ridden world. These types of books are what the population now needs to overcome the current impasse that stifles our health care system and makes this a very sick country. Taking responsibilty for our own health is the only real way out of the current crisis that afflicts so many. Reading this book is an eye-opener and will serve you well on your path to good and lasting health.

A lot of good information for only one book, you will learn alot about fasting and how your colon and stomach work. A good read for the first timer or people really into health. This book is a page turner and full of interesting information. I was ready to recommend this book to everybody, until I got to the chapters on cleansing - then the book turned into an "info-mercial" for Dr. Jeffery Bland's products. As far as I'm concerned, skip the chapters having to do with cleansing and read the rest.

Excellent Biography of an Amazing Saint.......2005-05-04

There simply couldn't have been a better biography of Lesslie Newbigin than this one. Geoffery Wainwright has managed to pull of what few can when writing about important thinkers, namely to give a developed account of thir life and thought and show how the two shaped one another.

Wainwright shows briliantly how Lesslie Newbigin's dynamic and distinctive missional theology emerged from his life and ministry and in turn defined and shaped the form of that ministry. This book succeeds at truly communicating the core of Newbigin's theology, exploring nearly all of his significant written works.

Newbigin was unquestionably an incredibly important theological interlocutor during the twentieth century. The impact of his critique of western culture, his contributions to epistemology, theology of mission, theological politics and interreligious dialog are only begining to be seen by today's church. This book gets to the heart of who Newbigin was and why his life and work have such a profound significance for today. For those wanting to learn about this great man, who was as Wainwright argues "like a father of the church", there is no better book. Highly recommended.

Truly an amazing biography of the allied Philippines General. It is a shame this book is out of print as it provides insight found in few other WWII books. It really should be part of any comprehensive World War Two reference library (personal or public).

One of the Great Civil War Diaries.......2006-06-07

There are many diarries and personal recollections of the Civil War. There are a handful of these that rate as classic writings that can be used as reliable first hand accounts of the war, and this is one of them. Possibly the best diary from the Army of the Potomac. Great detail, well written and very intersting.

A Diary of Battle.......2002-10-28

Gets low marks for editing. The editor has excised parts he thinks are repetitive or boring, but in some cases these clearly dealt with the technical details of handling artillery, and would have been of great use to the reader.
