Great Regional Material.......2001-09-27
This book is one of the best I've actually read so far that is recommended for the novice. It contains and index and glossary, as well as illustrations that explain the various parts of the plant, and gives simple, precise descriptions of each form of cacti and where it can be found. It also has excellent photographs of the entire plant in close-up that aid in visual identification. It has been a tremendous help in identifying cacti that once were nameless to me. If you can obtain a copy, it's well worth it.

Del Weniger has given us an excellent compilation in this volume. Fortunately, copies are still available of the out-of-print title. I highly recommend the book for beginners & experts alike. Excellent photography. Insightful text. Good organization.

Pete Souza was one of the official photographers for President Reagan during his years at the White House. His book gives us an intimate look at one of the greatest Presidents in U.S. history. You get to peak into the private life and very personal moments of this Presidency. Pete Souza captures the emotions of this President during very trying times as well as special moments between the President and the First Lady. This book will take the viewer through these emotional and private moments and make you feel guilty for intruding in on the moment. You will see why Pete Souza was selected for the job, he truly is one of the best!

Nothing very useful to anyone else.......2006-09-17
I read this book hoping for some useful information but all she did was ramble on about what she went through. It would have been better if she had given some useful information for others that may be trying to find some answers to their own health issues. I'm glad I didn't buy this as it wouldn't have been worth the money. If you can find it at your library (which is difficult) it might give you an interesting few hours reading.
Very small book.......2005-06-26
While I did enjoy reading this book, I realized that I didn't learn anything new that I didn't find out on my own, doing internet searches about Cushing's.
Also, the book was so small (only 67 pages). I was shocked that I had to pay nearly $10.00 for it. Not worth the money.
Valuable first-hand story about Cushing's Disease.......2004-05-14
Linda Garnier went through a traumatic experience to get a correct diagnosis. Diabetes, unexplained weight gain of over one hundred pounds--it all was attributed to being "in her head" despite the fact she was eating right and exercising a great deal. Well, the disease WAS in her head--she had a benign pituitary tumor that was causing the dangerous hormonal imbalance of the adrenals. This imbalance is known as Cushing's Disease and can eithe be rooted in the adrenal glands themselves (small glands over the kidneys) or in the brain, in the master gland itself. Tumors of the pituitary can be quite dangerous, causing wild fluctuations of various hormones and also deep depressions. They are a serious matter, though treatable.
After her diagnosis, Ms. Garnier then had difficulties getting proper treatment in a timely matter. Ultimately, she had an operation and is now in good health again, but her struggle with the medical profession is enlightening.
If you have an illness, even if it isn't Cushing's Disease, this book is helpful as a very poignant story about how assertive one has to be with one's own doctors. If you do have Cushing's Disease, this is a helpful story to provide hope, information and also coaching for your own treatment.

The Official U.S. Mint 50 State Quarters: Complete 100 Hole.......2007-09-28
I was disappointed in this product. The cover lillustration is nice but the book itself was a quite thin and flimsy cardboard. In addition, our son has trouble getting the quarters into the holes. After putting only about half of the quarters in, the book looks battered and worn. I would suggest looking for something better made.
Good for casual collectors to have........2007-06-08
I collected coins for awhile in high school but fell out of the habit. Getting one of these complete collection booklets is an easy way for the casual coin collecter to have an easy formal way to collect the State Quarters....
Looks great, works so-so.......2007-03-10
I just purchased three different 50 State Quarters books to try as the quarters fall out of the one I have. The other reviewers who weren't happy with this item are spot on. This is the worst of the three.
It looks great and has a lot of useful information about each state and the order of release. But the holes are too small though I didn't need a hammer to push the quarters in. It's clear given the tight holes and the force needed to get the quarters in that it would only be a matter of time before I ripped through the paper thin cover.
This is personal taste, but I don't like that the P and D are in totally separate groups rather than having both coins for each state together.

My son really enjoys looking at his state quarters in this folder. I do need to help him put in the quarters, but that is no problem. Once the quarters go in, it doesn't fall out.
I HATE this thing!.......2006-06-10
This album is extremely attractive and informative and has storage space for a complete set of 100 quarters (both P and D mint marks for each state). Unfortunately, it's a nightmare to use.
You'd think the U.S. mint would know what size their own coins are and be able to make an album they would actually fit in, wouldn't you? Well, guess again! It's just about bloody impossible to get quarters all the way into these slots so that they're firmly lodged and don't fall right back out again. I have only found two ways to accomplish this: 1) pound on the coins with a heavy object (obviously a disaster for preserving either them OR the album in good condition) or 2) painstakingly shave away a little bit of the cardboard around the edge of each slot (extremely tedious and time-consuming, as well as very hard to do without puncturing the flimsily thin backing material).
I am now in the process of shopping for an album that doesn't require me to risk damaging my quarters in order to get them into it. When I get one, this thing will go straight into the recycling bin. I couldn't bring myself to inflict it on some other unsuspecting person.
P.S. No offense to Burton W. Ostrower, but I think he MUST have been reviewing a different album. Mine does not have a "top plastic cover," and the coins are NOT viewable from both sides as he said. (I wish!) I would report the inaccuracy to Amazon if I knew how, because I hate to see people be misled. But the report form only allows reporting of "inappropriate" material, and there's no place to write comments there.

My kids, ages 7 and 10, love these. You can easily see the front and back of each quarter. My youngest had to be shown the proper way to remove and insert the plastic coverings. She slightly tore one page, which can easily happen without care.

I bought this as a birthday gift for my husband. He absolutely loves it. It displays the coins very well and the coins fit snugly so there's no chance that they might shift or fall out, even if the album feel from a top shelf. It is very well made - as I would have expected form the U.S. mint
For adults collecting the quarters, this album is higly recommended

Looking for a state quarter album for me was hard! It was really confusing. This album is great, it has spots for D & P versions of the coins. If I hadn't read another person's review it would have been a little hard to figure out how to insert the coins. But once you figure out there are two plastic covers, take one off, put the coin in and replace, it was easy!
Not Really Official?????.......2007-07-19
On the back cover it reads:

Made in Chine. Is it Not Really Official?????
This album is cheap. The sheets over the cardboard
peels up easily. So handle with care.
No instructions comes with the album, so you are
on your own. There is clear plastic on both sides
coin holders. Be careful, when you put quarters in
the slots, push the clear plastic with your fingers
to the right "top side only". I made the mistake and
took (not necessary) out both sides. After putting
quarters in the slots (I wasn't careful) when I
pushed the clear plastic back in (bottom side) and
ripped the paper.
I quess if you want real quality you have to pay more?

The album is very difficult to use. It is difficult to get the quarters into their slots, due to the location of the covering on the page, i.e. the center slots are near to impossible to use.

Good book on a few parts........1998-12-13
This is a good refrence book with a few good points but the big directory is of all places in europe and the author speaks as he wrote it in england, which he probally did. If it was updated more, ( all old greenhouse pictures) and had new process it would get more stars.

This book might be great if you live in SF, but it is not good for the peninsula. It has some nice features, like the symbols, but I think your money is better spent on "babies by the bay" (keene & Lamarre).

This book is our bible for fun playgrounds. I leave it in our car so that whenever we are looking for a fun, new playground to go to on the weekends as a family, we can pick-it up and just choose where we want to go...Marin, San Francisco, East Bay, South Bay. It's great! The descriptions of the parks are right on. We've never been let down. The must-go-see parks are truly a lot of fun for my 3.5 and 1.5 year old kids. I use the book too as a quick resource guide when I'm trying to kill time in the city. There's so many parks in San Franciso, it's fun for my kids to try out all of the parks. You can't go wrong with owning this book. Every mother with young kids in the Bay Area should own this book.

This book is absolutely fantastic and I use it so often that I need to buy another copy to leave in my car! Whenever I want to go on an outing with my kids, "Play Around The Bay' gives me all the pertinent information - as well as directions. It is extremely accurate. Some of our best adventures have come out of this book! I couldn't live (and preserve my sanity) without it.
