Customer Reviews:
Just what we need. RVs at wilderness hot springs.......2001-08-09
The only useful thing about this writer's books on hot springs are the USGS maps and the latitude/longitudes. I bought a book of his nearly 20 years ago and was thoroughly dissatisfied, & was incensed when it seemed to me he was more interested in providing info for the land yacht crowd. I wonder if his book alleging that the lunar landings were hoaxes is any better. I doubt it. He probably denies the Holocaust took place, too. If you want a book on hot springs, check out Jayson Loam's books. They are much better. If you want info on faked lunar landings, get the movie "Capricorn One."
Horribly Outdated Information.......2001-04-06
This book does a great public disservice. The information in the book has not been updated in years and is terribly outdated. Quite a bit of the information is absolutely wrong. Send the publisher a message - don't buy the book until they update it. Save your money, there are much better, current books out there such as "Hot Springs and Hot Pools of the Southwest" & Northwest - which are updated ever two years
Interesting especially for RVers who like hot tubbing.......1999-05-19
We have tried one hot spring listing and enjoyed our hot soak, found one shut down, one remodeling and one a bit too pricey for us. Would like to see some reference to actual costs rather than than reasonable or free or deluxe. One place inacessible without 4 wheel drive but we will keep trying, the maps are good.
basic guide to commercial springs.......1999-04-14
depending on what your looking for you may not want this guide. it has a fairly well established list to many commercial hot springs, but little else. If your looking for hot springs where you can hook up your RV then this guide may work for you. If on the other hand your looking for real, natural hot springs off the beaten path, then this guide is worthless.

Book Description
Deserter looks objectively at the military record of George W. Bush, his role in the armed forces, and his treatment of them. Over the past year, Bush’s military poses have been contrived to convince the American public that he is a National Security President. Others have found his playacting less convincing. While George W. Bush supported the Vietnam War, his contribution was to enlist in a nepotistic unit of the Texas National Air Guard, which, short of World War III, was guaranteed never to see military action. Even in this safe position, Lieutenant Bush broke under the strain and went AWOL for the best part of a year. In contrast, American National Guardsmen have not only been called up for frontline action in Iraq, but they have had their terms of service extended. While the military budget soars, the war is being fought with a dangerously inadequate number of troops. The dead and disabled are shipped home under cover of darkness; those who eventually return in one piece find that their veterans’ medical benefits and facilities are being axed. Deserter strips away the illusion of Bush as “commander-in-chief” to reveal a hypocrite who has betrayed his troops and his country.
Customer Reviews:
No one remembers Bush in Alabama National Guard!!.......2006-07-19
My only problem with William's book is he fails to discuss that Bush was the most decorated pilot in the Alabama National Guard. Junior was awarded the Yellow Strips four times for going AWOL beyond the call of duty. But seriously, Bush does not even posses the courage to last one mere day of service in the Girl Scouts. The book is a must for any Nam Vet.
People in glass houses shouldn't throw stones.......2005-03-26
Ian Williams has been all over the media lately after it was revealed by Accuracy in Media -- and Williams doesn't deny it-- that he had been taking money from the UN while covering the UN for The Nation and other media. Williams went on the O'Reilly
Factor and said he saw no ethical issue with that blatant violation of journalism ethics.
Then came revelations in Accuracy in Media and Front Page Magazine that his wife, who can't even work in the U.S. legally, got a job at a journalism organization where Williams has clout.
Given his shamelessness, this tired rehash of previously published allegations against Bush is even more disgusting. People in glass houses shouldn't throw stones.
A book all should read........2004-11-10
This book is excellent. My husband, who's recently retired from the military, and I bought this because of Dubya's flip-flopping on his record. Although a lot seems to be missing (like the DD-214 all of us get when we get out--I have mine), it's still revealing. We're an Air Force family and have known many, many pilots over the years and they take great pride in their flying status and would not miss their annual, required flight physicals for anything.
Too bad the media can't give the same coverage of this like they did the Monica thing. Young men and women are dying while I type this, but hey, let's keep our priorities straight. Since when was it moral to send people to their deaths with lies? Especially when the same people perpetrating these horrible sins were hiding and ensuring they saved their worthless hides while shirking their duty during Viet Nam.
An excellent book for anyone who really cares for our military personnel and their families.
W's real face.......2004-09-04
I read the book in one day and at the end of it was absolutely astonished at how much we ignored the horrible lies of George W. Bush, who successfully managed to pursuade Americans that he is a war hero.
It is no secret that George W. Bush wanted a war. He wanted to be a war president. He wanted to be a commander-in-chief. But in fact he is a deserter. While himself dodging the war which he supported, he sent thousands of Americans to fight in Iraq. He has no respect for those who are unfortunate to be serving under his command.
This is not a mere hatchet job, it is a well documented analysis. Ian Williams has put the facts together to draw the real face of the "commander-in-chief".
To negative reviewer Sam Diamond:.......2004-08-26
Kerry released his service records in April. If you have an IQ above that of a post, figure it out.
Book Description
It was a lazy afternoon in April, 1995, when the unthinkable happened. Six- year-old John-Paul, the youngest son of Gregory and Maureen Floyd was playing in the front lawn with his brother David when both were struck by an out-of-control car. Rushed to separate hospitals, David survived with bruises, but John-Paul died instantly. In A Grief Unveiled, Floyd reveals his heart-breaking journey through the sorrow of losing a young child, as he deals not only with his own broken heart, but also with the struggle to reconstruct his role as husband, father, and protector. With rare candor, Floyd captures the almost indescribable moments of pain as well as the palpable moments of grace as he openly shares his struggle with the theological why's and the personal emotions that question the goodness of God. This book is a witness to the intimate presence of God in the midst of unbearable lossoffering hope to all who struggle.
Customer Reviews:
ULTIMATELY EXTRA-ORDINARY .......2007-05-11
We just lost our 13 year old daughter suddenly almost eight weeks ago today. Still awaiting to hear from the medical examiner what caused her untimely death. She collapsed after a snow shoe trek at Environmental Camp in the White Mountains of NH.
I have bought a number of books during these painful weeks, and this book was the only book that I felt I could have written - at least the first few chapters. It was like what we experienced was written down and black and white. He describes everything perfectly.
I loved the book because it gave me great comfort that we WILL feel joy one day ... we don't know, nor can we even begin to think we will ever feel joy again.
One of my favorite lines in the book was ...
Our friends brought us God's presence and love. They did not solve our problems, as if grief we a problem to be solved. They did not dispense pious phrases. Our friends allowed us to be in as much pain as we were in and did not trivialize it by trying to move us beyond it ....
Our friends, family, community, were a blessing from God during the darkest days of our lives and they continue to be. This book is such a comfort to anyone who has lost anyone ... or even more importantly for people who want to know how to help people like us who belong to this `club' ... it is a win/win for anyone reading it. I read it in two days!!!
It happened to us.......2006-05-18
The specific circumstances of our son's death and his age were different than Mr. Floyd's child. The feelings and the pain were not. These events test you and your relationship with God as Mr. Floyd writes and he is on the mark.
I have bought this book for others, who have lost a child or loved one.
HEALING .......2005-10-25
This book brought healing to me that I could not imagine would ever come. I pray blessings over Mr. Lloyd and his family for being so honest and open about his son's death. I lost my 11 month old son to a very rare infection in July 1999. This was a very sudden death, as we found him dead in his crib. I highlighted and still read over this book and each time, I am healed even more. THANK YOU, THANK YOU Mr. Lloyd for teaching me that it's o.k. to be brutally honest before God- you showed me that that is when the healing truly comes. Everyone should read this book.
A Grace Revealed.......2003-09-26
This book is the attempt of one father to come to terms with the anguish, the heart-break, the devastation, and the questions that arise when tragedy strikes. Others books have attempted the same. The great English apologist C.S. Lewis wrote a book entitled The Problem of Pain, exploring these difficult questions. It is interesting to compare it with a book he wrote later, after his wife died of cancer. His A Grief Observed does not so much refute what he wrote earlier, but in many ways goes far beyond it.
A theoretical and theological reflection of suffering is one thing. A first-hand personal account is another. A Grief Unveiled is of the second type. Not that theological and biblical reflection is absent. But this is the very personal and very moving account of how one father copes with the worst pain imaginable, moments after the event, hours after, days after, months after, and years after. What does the journey of grief look like from the inside? This volume is an unforgettable account of one long and painful trip through grief.
For anyone who has experienced any comparable tragedy, the book will echo similar thoughts and emotions, and will bring forth many tears. The book does not over-sentimentalize, but neither does it over-spiritualize. It is brutally honest and totally real.
Anyone who suffers will resonate with these moving chapters. Yet it is not just a book about sorrow, grief and pain. It is also a book about hope, joy and victory. It is the story of a radiant faith; a faith that takes a terrible hammering, but a faith the survives and grows and triumphs. But it is triumphant faith because it has as its object a triumphant God. Indeed, God is the real subject of this book in many ways. It is only because of the great love, grace and mercy of God that the Floyds can make it through the valley of the shadow of death.
The opening chapters are the most painful. Descriptions of the accident. Cradling a dying boy. The nervous wait at the hospital. The bad news from the doctor. Watching a lifeless boy in a casket, bandages over the eyes, because the organs were donated. The burial. The days immediately thereafter.
The grief seems unbearable. But with time comes some relief. The hole in the soul is always there. It will never disappear. But the intense pain and grief slowly, and surely, begin to subside. And through it all, one believer's relationship with his God is sorely tested, but in the end, vindicated. And with it comes the spiritual understanding that comes with the suffering, the realization that the God we serve is a suffering God.
God the Father knows all about suffering. He too lost a son in tragic circumstances. And Mary, the mother of Jesus, also knows the heartbreak of losing a beloved son. But as Floyd makes quite clear, Good Friday is followed by Easter Sunday. John-Paul is not dead, but alive, waiting for the glorious reunion that will one day take place. The promise of the resurrection is the believer's hope. And the resurrection of Jesus is the guarantee that we too will one day be raised.
But it works both ways, There can be no Easter without Calvary. Suffering is the path chosen by Christ, and it is the path his followers must also accept. The hard questions may never fully be answered. But the ultimate answer to the problem of suffering and evil is not a proposition but a person. Jesus, who is acquainted with grief and familiar with sorrow, is the only one who can offer comfort and hope to those who suffer.
If God can take the most horrible and painful event in human history, the cross, and turn it into the most glorious and blessed of events, then there is hope for us as well. Suffering can be redeemed. It can make us more like the one who knows all about suffering.
This book is a testament to the way the death of one man two thousand years ago becomes the basis of hope for everyone today. This powerful story will help those who are suffering to make it through. And it will help all of us to get our priorities a little more straight, and help us refocus our attention on what is truly important and of value in life.
This book is, without a doubt, life changing........2002-10-24
There are no words to describe what an amazing book this is. I read this book when I began my journey down the road of grief and healing over my dad's death. I wept. I laughed. Sometimes at the same time, but God ministered to me through the openeness of this family. They allow you into such a private, intimate time and let you see that you can grieve with hope. There is no doubt that you will be blessed by their courage, strength, faith, and unending devotion to the Lord. May God bless them for their willingness to be used by him in such a vulnerable way.

Bijou ROCKS.......2005-01-02
This book is so great!!! I loved the book, not only because I have met this wonderful puppy, but it tells about the life and daily things of Bijou! Bijou is the sweetest puppy on this earth, and I dont know what we would all do without her! This dog is so great that you cant imagine! Like one time my sister and I went up to visit Marion and Herb McDonald; Marlie and I were scared and Bijou was trying to make us not be afraid. We had a bunch of fun with Bijou, Carol, Lawrence, and our grandparents(obviously Marion and Herb).
I LOVE YOU BIJOU!!!
And everyone else!!

Customer Reviews:
Excellent Book.......2007-05-13
This book is excellent for all levels of wood burners, beginner to expert. Highly recommended.
A Great Pyrography Book.......2007-02-11
This is one incredible instruction book on how to do pyrography. Sue Walters is one of the best pyrographers in the world. I highly recommend this book for improving your technique and learning to burn animal fur.
Woodburning vs. Gourdburning.......2007-01-27
This book was excellent for woodburning, as the name implies. However, I was hoping for a little bit more information pertaining to gourdburning (if there is such a term!). Also, I wanted a little more detail for the different strokes, such as how the elephant skin was done. Overall, it was a very informative book - and I'm being a little toooo picky!
A great woodburning book........2007-01-10
My spouse asked for this book and I got it for a great price on Amazon. She loves it and is eager to try the techniques in it.
Detailed & Absolutely Useful!.......2006-09-02
I have been a pyrographer for over 6 years now, & am so delighted to have found this book! The techniques are well explained, the photos are detailed, the instructions go from an easy project to difficult, all taught beautifully. Complete is a very accurate description of this artists offerings.

Facing the metaphorical empty nest, Beth Moore writes, "The first morning I awakened to a house with no children, my home was quiet, but to my surprise it wasn't empty. Suddenly it felt full. Full of memories. Full of anticipation. Full of love that can somehow go with them to college and beyond, yet stay back home with us. A love that has a name. Jesus." From here, Moore reflects upon all those memories, or feathers, from her nest, showing readers how a smattering of humor and a heavy dose of faith in Jesus helped to shape and guide her mothering. At times the mood is jovial, as she recalls the divine patience it takes to negotiate who rides in the front seat during the after-school carpool. At other times, her tone is tearjerking, as in the time she discovers a wadded tissue in her daughter's bed weeks after she'd left for college. "I had no idea how long it had been there, but I knew instinctively what it meant," writes Moore. "She had been crying ...I held the Kleenex in my hand and wondered what had broken her tender heart." Written as a series of heartfelt vignettes, this sentimental and highly personal book speaks to the lasting gifts of motherhood and why it helps to raise a family within the context of Christian faith. --Gail Hudson
Book Description
Beth Moore is widely known and respected as an engaging and effective speaker, Bible teacher, and a best-selling author. Feathers from My Nest reveals a more contemplative and personal side of Beth, very much in the spirit of her Things Pondered.
Feathers from My Nest is a collection of vignettes, as Beth reflects on items belonging to her daughters who have left the nest for college. As she ponders each item, which holds rich memories, Beth draws from its spiritual significance. This book not only gently tugs on the heartstrings of parents, it also reminds us all of the gift of grace children offer our lives everyday.
Customer Reviews:
Great for parents of little ones OR empty nesters.......2007-07-17
I'm a parent of 2 little ones, and I've been reading one of her essays each morning. They're sweet and real and funny (just like Beth Moore always is) - and they're a real encouragement to me to see the long view of godly parenting, rather than getting stuck in the preschool weeds. I also gave it as a gift to my mother-in-law whose chicks are long gone from the nest, and she loved it too.
Enjoyable read.......2007-01-12
Very touching...touches all emotions. I bought three more to share with other family/friends who are mothers. Great choice as a gift for moms whose children are leaving for college.
Perfect for any woman!.......2003-03-19
I read Beth Moore's book after experiencing two miscarriages and trying to get pregnant for the third time. Her Godly approach to motherhood made me realize that God gives us children as gifts and blessings - regardless if it is for a few months in utero or for decades on earth! She gives a personalized insight on how to try to raise children to love Christ - in a world that often makes that difficult! I would highly recommend this book to any woman - moms, daughters, moms-to-be, or as I was when I read it, a mom wanna-be!
Refreshing and warm feeling.......2003-03-10
This wonderful little book about Beth and her husband going thru empty-nest made me feel a wide range of emotions. She is a brilliant writer and always amazes me how she can be a faithfull follower of Jesus but still have so much FUN!! What a refreshing christian woman..Buy the book.. you won't be disapointed.. Beth allows you a 'peek' into her private life. If you have taken a bible study that she wrote you will get snapshots of her life.. this book fills in the holes a bit..Great reading!
SO INSPIRATIONAL. . . FOR MOMS OF ALL AGES & STAGES.......2002-02-05
This is another winner from Beth Moore but very different from her other Bible study writings. This is a more personal look into her own family life and is an absolute must read for any mom. It is written from an empty-nester's point of view, but as a young mom of a two and four year old, I found it so comforting, inspiring and uplifting. I know their time with my husband and me is short, but this book helped me have some perspective. When you have young children close in age, sometimes the days are long and tiring, but this book has helped me see things in a new light. I want to have many feathers to reflect upon when my precious ones leave this nest. Well, blessings to all who read this; I hope it has been helpful, and please do read this sweet book!

Beauty, Vitality, Intelligence, Inspiration.......2004-02-26
Henry Moore is a wise man and it is nice to know that his words do justice to his talent as a sculptor. Musings is too light a term to use for the warm, down-to-earth essays that Moore provides us as he shares his thoughts and experiences with life, art, and aesthetics. With the words are page after page of photos of Moore, his work, along with images of things that have been his inspirations. This is a book about art appreciation, but grounded in the practicality of a working, master artist who is humble and thoughtful. It is hard to imagine how any sculptor who hopes to create works of lasting greatness could not profit and indeed be inspired by knowing this book. But Moore's basic, fundamental philosophies about art and life make this a book of vital inspiration for just about anyone who likes to think of, and operate in the world, along artistic terms. It is a warm, friendly unimposing book grounded with the weight of deep truth and careful observation.

Vanity, all is vanity.......2003-11-19
An ego driven report of some obviously superficial relationships with people mostly dead. Self-centered and
pompous. And for this they felled a tree?
Amazon.com
When Marilla Cuthbert's brother, Matthew, returns home to Green Gables with a chatty redheaded orphan girl, Marilla exclaims, "But we asked for a boy. We have no use for a girl." It's not long, though, before the Cuthberts can't imagine how they could ever do without young Anne of Green Gables--but not for the original reasons they sought an orphan. Somewhere between the time Anne "confesses" to losing Marilla's amethyst pin (which she never took) in hopes of being allowed to go to a picnic, and when Anne accidentally dyes her hated carrot-red hair green, Marilla says to Matthew, "One thing's for certain, no house that Anne's in will ever be dull." And no book that she's in will be, either. This adapted version of the classic, Anne of Green Gables, introduces younger readers to the irrepressible heroine of L.M. Montgomery's many stories. Adapter M.C. Helldorfer includes only a few of Anne's mirthful and poignant adventures, yet manages to capture the freshness of one of children's literature's spunkiest, most beloved characters. There's just enough to make beginning readers want more--luckily, there's a lot more in the originals! Illustrator Ellen Beier creates vibrant pictures to portray the beauty of the land around Green Gables and the spirited nature of Anne herself. (Ages 5 to 8) --Emilie Coulter
Book Description
When the Cathberts adopt an orphan, they aren't prepared for Anne Shirley. But the spunky heroine wins everyone's heart and finds herself a true home at last.

Customer Reviews:
Truly a wonderful novel........2007-08-17
No matter what age you are or what genre of book you usually read, this is a terrific work of art. Everyone should take a rainy afternoon off to sit back, relax and read one of the greatest novels ever published. (And all other novels in the Anne of Green Gables series is just as exceptional!)
Great gift .......2007-08-14
My niece loves this book. She was gifted them for past christmas. She says she has read it several times now. Great story for the almost teen.
An excellent book for girls.......2007-08-14
but my whole family loves this book along with the whole series. L.M. Montgomery's style of writing brings you right in with Anne. She makes the reader feel like a kindred spirit.
A girl who is accidentally chosen to be adopted winds up being the best thing that ever happened to Green Gables. Lots of fun and excitement is the only thing that can describe the life of Anne.
A Great Classic Read.......2007-04-18
Anne of Green Gables is about an orphan who is adopted by Marilla and Matthew Cuthbert. It takes Anne awhile to adjust to life in the elegant Green Gables, and gets into some pretty funny mishaps, like accidently giving her friend Diana too much raspberry cordial, for example, but in the end finds her way. Anee's point fo view is hilarious and very entertaining. This is a wonderful read for girls everywhere and is a classic that is not to be missed.
Not just for children.......2007-04-09
I first read "Anne of Green Gables" when I was a young teenager. It had been my mother's favorite book and was not in print at the time. My grandmother had a copy of this book as well as most of the other "Anne books". I was completely enchanted by the odd little red headed orphan who spelled her name with an "e". At the end of two weeks, I had read all of the Anne books and started over at the first. As the years passed, the books came back into publication and I've purchased copies of everything by L.M. Montgomery that is in print. More than 20 years later and I still love the Anne books.
L.M. Montgomery created characters so believable that you can imagine your own joy at seeing the White Way of Delight for the first time or the mortification of jumping into bed on top of your best friends grumpy old aunt. This is a story you can read over and over and never be bored. I must warn you though. When this story ends, you will want to pick up "Anne of Avonlea" and when you finish that one, you won't want to waste any time picking up "Anne of the Island". Unlike other sequels or series, the story doesn't get old or redundant. Anne goes to Queens and then makes it to college. She marries and has children of her own in "Anne's House of Dreams" and "Anne of Windy Poplars". Finally, the series ends with stories of her children in "Rainbow Valley" and with "Rilla of Ingleside" as her youngest deals with being a young woman during WWI. Instead of buying just the first book, buy the set, The Complete Anne of Green Gables Boxed Set (Anne of Green Gables, Anne of Avonlea, Anne of the Island, Anne of Windy Poplars, Anne's House of Dreams, ... Rainbow Valley, Rilla of Ingleside)

Book Description
Sir Robert Heath's career in public office illustrates the workings of early Stuart government and politics, while his private life throws light on the structure of English society as it moved towards civil war. This biography is particularly welcome, and Kopperman makes excellent use of a wide range of primary sources... Heath deserves to be remembered, not least because he embodied attitudes and assumptions which were in many respects characteristic of the ancien régime in England. Kopperman's biography is a worthy memorial. HISTORYThe book adds a good deal to our knowledge and understanding of a significant political figure... a useful and welcome book.
