Tahoe's Best Vacation Guide.......2007-01-07

If you only have a few days or a week to spend in Tahoe you will certainly want to make the most of your time. A good place to start is this new book by outdoor author Ann Marie Brown. In addition to stunning photos (both color and black and white--a trademark of Brown's travel guides), decent maps, and multiple itineraries for various types of vacation activities, this book povides a detailed listing of all the recreational opportunities at Tahoe. Hiking and biking receive the most attention but water sports, skiing and climbing opportunities are also covered in detail. Using this book, you will have no problem filling the days of your vacation.

But of couse you will also want to enjoy Tahoe's nightlife, dining, lodging, and other tourist attractions. Brown's book covers it all. The book is divided into four sections: south shore, north and west shores, eastern shore (the Nevada section), and the Carson Pass area. Each section includes mini restaurant reviews, a list of lodging options (including campgrounds) and entertainment and shopping opportunities. This is truly a comprehensive guide. For my part, I will primarily use it to plan outdoor activities on my next all-too-brief visit to Tahoe, but I recommend this book to everyone who wants to spend some time in this fabulous region in California.

Loaded with Misinformation!.......2001-08-05

When it comes to travel...misinformation is worse than no information. This book was very poorly researched and/or edited, time after time. Descriptions were way off; phone numbers were inaccurate; addresses were wrong...and useful maps completely omitted. Buy any other guide, you can't possibly do worse!

Absorbing reading.......2006-03-09

I purchased this book at an ALA convention and was fortunate enough to have a chance to speak with the author. It was very obvious that he has a great love of and knowledge of our founding fathers and of the Constitution. That love of his subject comes through as he describes the reasons why it is important to maintain a seperation of Church and State and the fallacies of the "Christian Nation" rhetoric that's becoming more and more common these days.

A special emphasis upon their respective religious views .......2004-09-08

Franklin, Jefferson, & Madison: On Religion And The State by Constitutional history expert and scholar Gregory Schaaf (Co-coordinator of the Center for Indigenous Arts & Cultures, an historical archive and museum located in Sante Fe, New Mexico) showcases the life stories of Benjamin Franklin, Thomas Jefferson, and James Madison with a special emphasis upon their respective religious views and expressions of faith as recorded in their correspondences and other writings as revealed in their personal papers housed in the Library of Congress, the National Archives, and other library collections. Cale Kenney's adventurous free spirit flows through the stirring words and beautiful photos in this incredible book. She lost her left leg, hip, and pelvis due to a motorcycle accident when she was just 19. But Cale's joie de vivre propelled her to create the life of her dreams. If you are new to serging or even experienced, you will find this book a valuable asset in your sewing library. I am new to serging and have found it to be a very helpful. Most owner/instruction manuals tell you how to thread and use your machine but don't get into a lot of detail about the actual how-to of serging or problem-solving. This book covers everything from needles to sewing with various types of threads to troubleshooting with lots of illustrations and photographs.

There is a reason why people buy sergers and never use them. Unlike sewing machines, sergers are a little more complicated and can be down right intimidating, so good reference books are a MUST! This book, along with "The New Singer Sewing With A Serger", have been very helpful to me. Sergers are great machines and reference books such as this will give you the confidence and ability to get through problems and master your serger.

The Ultimate Serger Answer Guide - A must have.......2005-07-18

I received this book from Amazon only 3 days ago but it has proved invaluable. I recently purchased a serger for the first time and initially found it quite a challenge. However, the manual has helped somewhat but after reading this book (I bought two others as well including Serger Secrets which everyone recommends) I would highly recommend this Guide. It covers all the commonly found problems and questions that people ask about sergers. It also has very good diagrams including line drawings which are very helpful. It's very easy to read, to understand and to put ideas into action. The book also covers some of the main sergers and comments on how to manage individual problems on them.

All in all I couldn't recommend this book highly enough. After being concerned about making anything I sat down the next day and made a fleece pullover within about two hours. This book gave me the confidence to do that.

Most of the information in this book is really not earth shattering and is basic common sense. Also, this book is NOT for non-Christians and should really mention the fact that it is very Christian-based in its title or description-- I was completely taken aback by it and frankly, put off.

Stephen Lushington’s long career as judge, Privy Councillor, political reformer and anti-slavery campaigner involved him in many of the great political and legal controversies of the nineteenth century. He was adviser to Lady Byron during her separation from Lord Byron and defended Queen Caroline during her trial for adultery. In Law, Politics and the Church of England Stephen Waddams considers both cases afresh, as well as examining the records of the Consistory Court of the Diocese of London, to shed important new light on matrimonial and family law during the era immediately preceding the modern era of divorce courts. As Admiralty Judge, Lushington dealt with such central political issues as the control of neutral shipping by the British navy during the Crimean War. He also played a crucial part in the ecclesiastical controversies that agitated the Church of England in the mid-ninteenth century. He was required to make decisions on the most controversial political and theological questions of his time in an era of radical change. Law, Politics and the Church of England considers afresh the relations between these three fundamental aspects of nineteenth-century life, and makes a major contribution not only to the legal history of the period but to the study of Regency and Victorian England in general.
