Good intro to bacteriology.......2000-04-08
If you have little or no background in microbiology but would like to learn about bacteria, try reading this book. Its presentation of bacterial structure, metabolism, etc. is clear and accessible. This is also a good supplement to biology courses in college or even advanced high school courses. It is old for a science book (1981, I think), but most of the info is still valid as far as I know.
Book Description
Aegean and Mediterranean seashores filled with ancient sparkling marble cities, golden mosaics of Byzantium, Ottoman mosques with turquoise tiles...Between East and West, Turkey witnessed the development of some of the world's greatest civilizations. Nature surpassed itself by creating spectacular landscapes: petrified waterfalls in Pamukkale, snowcapped peaks in the Taurus mountains...Suggested excursions and maps will guide you along the roads of this immense territory. You will discover beautiful scenery and the legendary hospitality of the Turkish people. A large selection of hotels and restaurants with descriptions will enable you to select a family-run inn or charming hotel, taste the best "mezes", stroll in the bazaars in search of a carpet, or explore the coastline aboard a "gulet".

Michelin NEOS Guide Turkey, 1e (NEOS Guide).......2004-05-30
We had 4 guidebooks with us in Turkey - this was by far the most useful. It dovetailed very well with Lonely Planet. Detailed descriptions of museums and antiquities were outstanding, restaurant suggestions and hotel recommendations almost always very good. If you can only take one guidebook, grab this.
Michelin NEOS Guide Turkey.......2001-05-23
Just got back and found the book to be wonderful. Its description of the sites visited, its rankings and general information on Turkey history, culture and places was indespensable. Wouldn't go without it. It is on of the best I have seen.
It's a turkey.......2001-04-27
I'm a great fan of Michelin guide books and of Turkey. So I bought this one anticipating the usual thorough coverage of sites, restaurants, & hotels. I generally agree with their ratings of the sites they include, & like their descriptions. But whatever happened to eastern & southeastern Turkey? Yes, the Kurds have made some of these areas inhospitable, but Urfa, Gaziantep, Diyarbakir, Lake Van, among others, aren't even mentioned!
Then there's the coverage of hotels & restaurants. This is a fine book for backpackers, but what about the fine hotels & cuisine in Turkey? Not a mention of the Ciragan Palace in Istanbul, the Kismet in Kusadasi, the Dedeman in Nevsehir and Antalya, etc. If you want to travel upscale, try Frommers or the Blue Guide.
Disappointed with NEOS Guide.......2001-04-27
After perusing several guides to Turkey, I purchased this one b/c the old dependables (Lonely Planet/Rough Guide) were a bit whiny and I wanted a change. After getting to Turkey last October, I wished I had taken a Lonely Planet/Rough Guide, or even Let's Go. The Neos is particularly bad when it comes to travel logistics, especially if you're planning to "rough it" and take public transport. Luckily, every other independent traveller had a copy of one of the above to help us make our way through Turkey. My friend and I traveled with 2 other guidebooks. Surprisingly, the Cadogan was much better for historical information/background than the Michelin one. Hands down, the guidebooks by the French publisher Routard are the BEST! Their city guide for Istanbul was wonderful. Don't buy the NEOS if you plan to travel around with a backpack. I left mine in Turkey, it wasn't worth the weight home.
Without a doubt THE BEST guidebook for Turkey.......2000-08-09
Our group of 8 brought 6 different guidebooks to Turkey, but only the NEOS guide was carried with us every where we went! The book gives great background information on architecture, culture, and geography; excellent descriptions of all of the sights; good insights into what must be seen in a country with so much to offer; and, as any Michelin guide does, great restaurant recommendations! All of this in a well-organized format! The authors clearly understand what travelers need to know to make the most of their trip through Turkey. The suggested itineraries in each section of the book helped us decide among the many great points of interest to explore, from Istanbul to Cappodocia to the Mediterranean and Aegean! Turkey is a great country for travel and the NEOS guide is a must have if you want to do it right.

Customer Reviews:
BLAH!!!!.......2003-12-17
This book sucked and didn't help me at all. Yeah, maybe if I would have read every page front to back I might have understood this program a little more. But who has time for that? And who wants to read a reference book anyway? I got it so I could reference it when I was having trouble with quickbooks. You can figure a lot of the program on your on; but it's the details that are lacking in this book and it's the details you want. I ended up hiring a contractor to come in and teach me the program.
Not an adequate reference for expanding businesses.......2000-12-13
As the bookkeeper for a start up internet company, QB for Dummies was helpful as a quick tutorial and overview. If you run a small family business, this is the perfect book for you. But if you're a company that expects to grow (as many of us startups are hopeful of), there's just not enough detail. I am now forced to look for a different book that will give me detailed help in creating the reports I need for financial analysis. Good thing I was given this one for free...
Too much sizzle not enough steak.......2000-03-22
When I first started using this book I thought it was helpful, but when I needed help and information about entering transactions, I realized the shallowness of the book. The author knows a lot about business issues, but I needed bookkeeping help, I needed to understand what to do and why to do it that way.
I recommend you buy Quickbooks The Offical Guide instead if you want to learn Quickbooks inside and out - which is the only way to get the software to do exactly what you need.
Informative and Entertaining.......2000-02-08
This book made a hard program easy to use. He has a good sense of humor, which makes tech stuff easy to read. You won't have to read the book with a cup of coffee. I tried to use the program without the "Dummies" book and got nowhere. After reading the book, I have everything in balance and working. Thank you Mr. Nelson.

Customer Reviews:
Great Idea Resource.......2007-02-26
I bought this book and looked through it with post its to label all the interesting teapot ideas I was drawn to. When considering this book, I wasn't particularly drawn to the cover teapot and wondered if I would be disappointed in the authors picks, but I wasn't. This is a great visual resource for my classroom and studio.
As someone else has commented, I would have given this book 5 stars if the author hadn't repeated multiple photos of very similar teapots by the same artist.
teapots galore.......2006-11-13
A beautiful book on contemporary approaches to a traditional vessel.I am not into funtion as I am into form, but what a book! I am glad I bought it.Sometimes,I found that despite my aversion to making utilitarian things, there is so much I do derive from the pictures that I can adapt the notion of form and function to a sculptural work, independent of the notion of tea pot.
art teacher.......2006-11-10
As a ceramics teacher who teaches her students how to build teapots, this book is a wonderful resource. The pictures are great and it helps give students a better understanding of what a teapot can look like.
I'm not a little teapot..........2005-08-20
But if I were a little teapot, I'd be one of the beautiful ones in this book. There are teapots both plain, and beyond description to fascinate, amuse and amaze you. If you know a little about firing ceramics, and glaze technology, the information provided will deepen your appreciation of each teapot. You may find that some of these artists are in your area, and have ceramics for sale. Or if you just like teapots, there enough teapots here in beautiful color photos to sate your appetite.
Beautiful and Imaginative.......2004-03-12
500 TEAPPOTS is an wonderful book and is sure to inspire both potters and tea drinkers alike. It is a wonderful companion to 500 BOWLS. I hope they publish ANOTHER 500 TEAPOTS (BOWLS, too).
Book Description
A candid and clever portrait of a young woman's first year of married life
Week 1: "You want this house? With the pink-and-purple striped wallpaper?"
Week 9: "But you said you'd do it today..."
Week 17: "You couldn't have called?"
Newlyweds Jennifer and Matt really love each other. They never lived together before they were married-and so both were shocked to learn all the little things that go with living with one's spouse. Who knew that in his family, Saturdays were for tackling chores, while in her family Saturdays were for sleeping late? Now, two nice people from nice families are finding out that they do everything differently-and suddenly, they're in the ring with gloves on!
Week by week, the fights take both of them by surprise-they never meant to be the kind of couple that acts this way. Simultaneously, though, Jennifer and Matt are building something strong, knocking down old walls of habit and finding the strong foundation of a love that will see them through...in a delightful memoir of a knock-down, drag-out first year of marriage.
Customer Reviews:
Fun read, quality writing, Catholic-friendly.......2006-05-21
Funny and warm. I devoured this one on my daily train commute, even walking through the subway station. The short chapters make for mini anecdotes that will amuse you with the author's humanity. The opposites-attract theme runs strong. Her husband must be some guy to refrain from censoring out half of what could be embarrassing moments if the author's writing weren't so gentle and even-handed on her own shortcomings. It is not a lecture, but one couple's journey as they begin their marriage. Also, while this book is not about establishing a Christian marriage so much as a foundation of teamwork, it will not offend the religious, as the author 1) states that the couple chooses not live together before marriage and 2) spends one chapter on how they reached common ground on donating faithfully to the Catholic Church. Highly recommended for newlyweds and brides-to-be.
FABULOUS! Could be a great movie..........2006-02-01
I love the way Jennifer writes. She is incredibly candid and has a wit that makes even the most mundane of fights seem incredibly humorous. I could totally see her tales of newlywed stress becoming the basis of a movie. Her "characters" are so incredibly vivid - obviously because they are not fictional. Jennifer lends a voice to all of us who have wondered why we ever decided to take that plunge with this one-time stranger and sometimes irritant whom we love more than anyone else. This is the first of many wonderful things we will see from this author - remember her name.
Gift for bride-to-be.......2005-08-10
Bought this for my daughter who is getting married. She has enjoyed it very much.
Funny Anecdotes, Fabulous Advice.......2005-08-05
This book is a fabulous read! Each chapter begins with a personal anecdote and is followed by practical feedback, advice and humor that all tie back to the topic. It isn't preachy - rather it is a presentation of what worked for this couple - the "ah ha" moments in the marriage. It is funny, witty and normalizing in that you realize you aren't alone in figuring out yourself, your partner, your in-laws, and your marriage. Jennifer brings to light that we all come from different backgrounds and have different expectations - hence the need for understanding, compassion and compromise! I would highly recommend this book! I can't wait for her next book of confessions!
loved this book!.......2005-06-29
This was a really fun read! I laughed hard enough to snort in several places - but also kept thinking to myself, "I'm SO making my husband read this!" Sometimes I related to the author and sometimes to her husband, but either way, I could get an idea of what "the other side" could POSSIBLY be thinking in those lonely moments in the first year of marriage when you start encountering your differences and disagreements and worrying if they are precursors to doom or just normal life. It was comforting to hear others are going through the same thing. I bought a couple copies for friends getting married this summer - way more fun, and more useful, than the edible undies or other dumb shower gifts that probably get shoved in a drawer and never used!!

Book Description
Hailed as the greatest Venetian painter after Titian, Lorenzo Lotto (c. 1480-1556) is known for a delightfully idiosyncratic artistic vision that has had special appeal for twentieth-century sensibilities. This book-which discusses Lotto`s life and work-explores the way his formal and iconographic experiments set him apart from the mainstream culture of his time.
