A Comprehensive Guide.......2000-07-20
We used this book during our recent trip to the Seychelles. It was thorough and guided us to colorful reefs and the descriptions of dive sites were better in real life than the book described ! Fantastic guide.

Use it as a training guide, course pre-reader, or handy desktop and computer reference source. The e-book includes everything in the book PLUS has "active" hyperlinks to hundreds of pages of additional resources, definitions, construction steps and examples that allow the reader to dig deeper into information that's comprehensive, yet user-friendly.

Cutting through the Six Sigma hype.......2004-01-15
Michael Brassard and Diane Ritter have a gift for communicating important stuff in plain English. It's a rare gift in the Six Sigma world, and one that's been sorely needed. If you are wondering what Six Sigma is about, and it you want to use its ideas to make good changes in your organization, this book will help.
Simplicity: Six Sigma for the rest of us.........2004-01-14
Thank you for creating this reference for those of us who have to do real work. The resources at most of our finger tips is often a pile of 3 ring binders and reams of training documents. This handy reference makes it easy to pick the right tool and approach - especially in a pinch.
It's the kind of publication we've come to expect from the authors of the Memory Jogger - thanks Mr. Brassard and Ms. Ritter!
A wonderful & powerful resource for Six Sigma practitioners.......2003-04-25
In my review of the original book (sans CD), I wrote about how wonderful and alive the book itself is. The book - CD/E-book combo kicks it up more than a few notches. The E-book maintains the artistic and exciting aura of the original book. It is a must have, especially for laptop toting Black Belts such as myself. There are hundreds and hundreds of reference materials that a literally a click away. As a matter of fact, I leave the E-book open on my laptop all day long for quick reference.
A feature of the E-book that I really like is its searching capabilities. Type in your topic of interest, click on the search button, and the E-book returns a summary of your search with a hyperlink to go straight to the topic. Absolutely wonderful!
The E-book is great, however, I think the E-book should have come with reproducible templates.
In conclusion, the E-book is unquestionably awesome.
What a resource a book and a 1000 pages of back up material.......2003-02-05
The book is an excellent resource. The CD / ebook version that is contained in the back of the book has an almost unlimited range of materials. Everything and every term I could think of was there and immediately displayed. While I have seen e books before, this one was really neat, you can search by index, topic, chapter or term and get definitions, proceedures, applications, examples, case studies or a video. If you want more ask for a power point presentaion and it pops to the screen. The CD also has a search function. The backup material in the e book is over a 1000 items.
Half-There.......2002-12-27
The book clearly develop's the Six Sigma implementation method. It will be very useful to me in the future. However, right now, I need a more fundamental introduction to the statistical tools employed in defining a Six Sigma project.
This book tells which tools to use, and when to use them, but it does not explain HOW to use them. Unfortunately, I am in the position of not knowing the HOW. Perhaps I would do better with a course int Statistical Analysis.

In "A Designer's Eye For Scrapbooking," Ali shares her design secrets on how to create attractive, charming and well-balanced pages that tell a story and reflect your unique personality. This inspirational guide to scrapbook page design will teach you how to preserve your memories in a meaningful way.
Customer Reviews:
no better scrapbooker in the world.......2007-09-20
Sorry but hands down Ali Edwards is the most talented scrapbooker. Her design techniques and balance on her pages is amazing. I use this book as well as her sophmore book all the time.
A Mess of Design.......2007-09-15
Not one page contained any layout I would ever, ever use. Every picture was an assault on one's eyes. I can't believe this was a "Creating Keepsakes" publication.
Not as great as I expected.......2007-08-30
I love, love, love Ali Edwards, and am practically obsessed with her work. So I could barely wait to get this book, and was disappointed when I did. I think a big part of the problem is that I'm used to her current style in Creating Keepsakes, and as we all know scrapbooking has evolved a lot even in the last few years. It's a lot more personal and a lot less "Here's a picture with some heart cutouts around it." Of course we're talking about Ali here so there aren't pictures with heart cut-outs, but just like the rest of us, she's certainly gotten better with time. Looking at this book (dated 2004 and 2006) was definitely looking back on her work and not what I'm used to seeing. There were some things I liked, some helpful design suggestions, and some layouts I enjoyed. But I really wouldn't spend $17 on the book. I've looked at it once and I don't think I'll return to it much, if at all. I'd suggest spending the money to subscribe to Creating Keepsakes (which I love and she's the creative editor of) and getting all her fresh, new ideas plus tons of other pages and ideas, too.
Great Inspiration.......2007-07-03
Beautiful, clean layouts. Great insight - and BONUS - the author's a cutie... [m]
disappointing.......2007-06-27
I knew before opening this book that I wasn't a big fan of Ali Edwards scrapbooking style. To me, it just looks tossed together at the last minute. However, because there were pages by other scrapbookers, I wanted to give it a look. I didn't find anything inspiring in this book and it was about 3/4 full of Ali's own pages (and I find the gratuitous photos of her son peppered throughout nearly every month's addition of Creating Keepsakes to be more than enough).
I'm sure there are many who like her style, because she seems fairly popular. But if you're an avid scrapbooker who doesn't really appreciate the penned-in, stapled, torn paper look on every page like myself, you may not like this either.
Product Description

Favorite Scrapbooking resource.......2007-09-20
Ali has pulled together an amazing idea collection to how to use patterned paper on your scrapbook pages. Love how the book is organized into paper styles. If you like her column in Creating Keepsakes you will definately want this book.
You've got to love Ali!.......2007-05-25
I have loved reading Ali's articles in Creating Keepsakes, and was very excited to finally buy her books. There are great ideas, but Ali's message is always clear when it comes to scrapbooking - it is about the photos and the stories behind them. A great book for helping to use that huge collection of patterened paper that all scrapbookers have.
A Designer's Eye.......2007-05-12
A great book for putting patterned paper together in your scrapbook. This book gives you a method to follow and shows great examples of pages that have been completed! A great resource!
Disappointed.......2007-02-15
I'm disappointed with this book. The only type of instruction or teaching is a couple sentences under a layout. I was expecting more meat and potatoes of design theory. Plus the book just stops at a certain point...there's no conclusion, no index, no thing. It just stops. Weird.
I'm giving the book 2 stars because some of the layouts are amazing. I want to scrap like Jamie Waters when I grow up!
A must have for any scrapbooker.......2007-02-13
Another great Ali Edwards book. I loved how the book was set up. The examples and advice were easy to follow and the challenges at the end inspired me to try to apply the new techniques right away.
Customer Reviews:
Excellent Plant Propagation Book.......2000-07-17
I have found this book a very good plant propagation resource. The author gives excellent technical information in an understandable manner. Detailed explainations of the techniques cover not only the HOW TO of propagation but also the very important WHY.
It includes detailed seed/spore, bulb, cutting and grafting techniques. There are many techniques covered in this book that I do not find in many of the newer propagation books I've looked through.

It is a truly unique collaboration between mother and son, and a tender example of what families can accomplish when they work together as partners and friends.
Customer Reviews:
Beautiful.......2007-02-05
I'm ordering this book for my friends. It is absolutely beautiful - it states things easily and intelligently. This book gives you more information in a simple, easy format than most books do in over 100+ pages! BUY IT, you won't be sorry.
Buy it for the illustrations.......2004-09-25
I recommend buying this book for the amazing illustrations and for the pleasant reminder of the title, for the idea of it. "Graceful parenting" is a great description of the way we all want to be as parents, and I think of it often as I relate to my children. I just wish the book were written more gracefully. The ideas related in the book are pretty basic and are not written as delicately or creatively as I would have expected; it's a very blunt book which could have been edited more thoroughly. Overall, though, a nice book to have on the bookshelf and to page through from time to time.
A truly beautiful book.......2002-11-03
I received this book as a gift. It is a wonderful book filled with some very straight forward wisdom for raising a loving child. This is one of those little books that parents can cherish and one day pass along to their children when their children start having children. This book is beautifully illustrated by the authors own 7 year old boy.
A gift.......2002-10-11
I loved this book. Eve Dreyfus must a beautiful person to have such a beautiful book. And her son must be just as precious. Thank you for this gift.
Great advice in a beautiful book.......2002-09-28
This book condenses the advice that the author (a child psychiatrist) has dispensed to families in serious trouble with their children into 25 rules. The book is straight forward, easy to understand and best of all I read it in one sitting. Most parenting books are 300 pages or more and I never get to the end, but this one is easy to read and the 25 rules work. I keep it handy because re-reading the rules is helpful. I think this book makes a great gift, it's illustrated with the author's son's drawings. I recommend this book whole heartedly.
Book Description
When Bill Gruber left Philadelphia for graduate school in Idaho, he and his wife decided to experience true rural living. His longing for the solitude and natural beauty that Thoreau found on Walden Pond led him to buy an abandoned log cabin and its surrounding forty acres in Alder Creek, a town considered small even by Idaho standards. But farm living was far from the bucolic wonderland he expected: he now had to rise with the sun to finish strenuous chores, cope with the lack of modern conveniences, and shed his urban pretensions to become a real local. Despite the initial hardships, he came to realize that reality was far better than his wistful fantasies. Instead of solitude, he found a warm, welcoming community; instead of rural stolidity, he found intelligence and wisdom; instead of relaxation, he found satisfaction in working the land. What began as a two-year experiment became a seven-year love affair with a town he'll always consider home.
Customer Reviews:
An exquisitely written book.......2005-11-29
This man Gruber really knows how to write. He has a stunning command of the English language and uses it not to try to impress us but simply to communicate all the nuances of what he's talking about, which is life in modern-day rural Idaho. And beyond that, the book is about life in America, and life in general -- from the perspective of a thoughtful and sensitive soul, the kind of person you don't often meet these days.
If you want a thrilling, romantic adventure story, this definitely is not it. But if you want to read something really well written by someone who goes way beyond the superfical to examine things in real depth, this is your book.
Like the author, I am an Easterner who lived in rural Idaho for a time. His descriptions are not only accurate, but also thought-provoking and even inspiring. Whether you've been to Idaho or not, give this one a try.
On All Sides Nowhere.......2004-01-25
Clean, straight, enjoyable, professional writing. I hope that some sort of sequel will be on the shelves soon.
A strange title for a memorable book.......2002-11-01
Having tromped around the woods, towns, and backroads of Northern Idaho while growing up, I was delighted to have those memories pulled out of deep memory by Bill Gruber's delightful book. "On All Sides Nowhere" chronicles a place and culture seldom deemed worthy of prose. Gruber transforms what might seem seedy (yards filled with junked cars, a skillful but alcoholic handyman, houses continually under contruction) into respectful depictions of everyday life in this hard-scrabble part of the Pacific Northwest. Unlike many writers, Gruber doesn't choose to focus on himself or his family; they are simply the vehicle that allows him insights into the characters around them.

Book Description
The earliest of the Exeter episcopal registers to survive, Bronescombe's is a general register with a single chronological sequence of letters and memoranda on many aspects of diocesan administration. The second volume of this edition (which supersedes the unsatisfactory one of 1889) is especially notable for its accounts of the bishop's jurisdictional clashes with the earl of Cornwall, material not normally found in such a register.Praise for volume I: Useful discussions of Bronescombe's life and household, the administration of the diocese, and the bishop's dealings with religious houses, the dean and chapter, and such secular figures as the earls of Cornwall... It is for the clear presentation of the register itself, however, that this volume is most welcome. ENGLISH HISTORICAL REVIEWO.F. ROBINSON is Douglas Professor of Roman Law at the University of Glasgow.
