The author shares inside information - far more useful and revealing than any other guide. Town and regional maps, photos, index.

Customer Reviews:
Great overview of cost accounting for manufacturing.......2004-05-14
This little book is a wonderful review of all the things you need to consider if you are doing accounting in a manufacturing concern. The ideas are applicable as well for service organizations but the examples are geared toward accounting for manufactured products. The authors talk about when or why you would use a certain type of costing method rather than just explain how it's done. For example, they explain the reason for using Just In Time costing and the benefits over traditional cost accounting and describe what performance measures you would use with each system. I'm only halfway through my libray copy but have decided to buy my own to keep for reference.
More Practical than Theory!.......2000-04-12
This is a very well - organized introduction to cost accounting. There are some very useful chapters on cost behavior and cost estimation, as well as cost-volume-profit and break even analysis. The theory is very clear, however, the quantitative examples are basic. Not a complete study guide for the MBA student, but a great compendium to supplement theory and basic understanding. Plus, if you own several volumes from the Barron's Business Library you get the bonus of having them look cool on the bookshelf!

Customer Reviews:
One of the best.......2007-08-30
One of the best quilting books I've purchased. There are so many quilts that I want to make from this book. This one is worth the money. I've referred back to it often.
Generally good, but...........2007-03-07
I had made 4 quilts before making one from this book, so I would describe myself as between a novice and an intermediate-level quilter. Even though I have some experience,
1) I am disappointed that the instructions are not more detailed (e.g., "assemble the blocks as shown on page such and such"). I can figure it out, but it would be nice if the instructions were more specific.
2) I also find that I don't sew well enough to profit from the shortcut techniques they reccomend at the beginning of the book. My pieces do not match up well when I use those techniques, so I find myself resorting back to the way I used to construct these pieces.
3) I only like a handful of the quilts in the book. However, I am constructing one that I am very pleased with, so I guess it's a matter of personal taste.
In general, I think this book has a nice assortment of quilts, most of which don't seem terribly difficult to make. I'm glad I have this among my quilting books.
A MUST for any Quilter.......2007-01-09
This is THE book for any quilter .. beginner or experienced sewer. Beautiful quilts and complete instructions. A MUST HAVE for any quilter's library.
Possibly the best quilting book in my collection.......2006-02-13
True to its promise, this book shows off more than a hundred quilts which are designed for rotary cutters. You'll find a wide range of sizes and styles, from wall quilts to full bed quilts, and from traditional blocks to... well, traditional block variations. None of them are clinkers.
Many quilting books have designs that are all in one mood, even if they don't advertise themselves as such: very floral, or heavy on the "country," etc. Among the many things I like about 101 Fabulous Rotary-Cut Quilts is that it avoids this trap. You'll find everything from pastels to Amish designs to pinwheels. And, while plenty of the designs are scrap quilts, lots of them are NOT. (I'm a little tired of instructions that call for 1/8 yard from 32 different fabrics. Can I please make a quilt that uses only 3 or 4 fabrics?! But the point is that, even if you feel differently, you'll be as happy with the selection as I will.)
Plus, this book has some of the best quality instructions I've encountered. In most cases, the instructions all fit on one page, and they are blessedly straightforward.
The authors also recognize that not every quilter gets it right the first time; for example, the "Louisiana" wall quilt I'm just finishing advises, "Your blocks may not measure exactly 8.5 inches square when sewn. Cut this strip a little wider, and trim the sashing pieces to size after you piece the blocks, if you wish." I sure appreciate it when a book tells me how to fix the mistakes I'm most likely to make! (And why yes, I *did* trim the blocks afterward.)
One additional feature in this book that is much appreciated is the avoidance of the phrase, "Quilt as desired." I often feel that I need guidance on appropriate quilting patterns as much as I do on the piecing design. Fortunately, the book has a section with suggestions for each quilt. I'd never have thought up the one they suggested, and I'm glad I took their advice. It looks great.
I need to make a wedding quilt for my niece. There's no question which book I'll turn to first, when it comes to picking a design for such a big project.
The Best Book For Quilting.......2004-09-13
Of all the books I own (and there are a lot), this one is the one I bring to bed, every night! It has so much information to learn, it's a page turner! This book is THE book to own and no library is complete, without it.

Creative anecdotes offer supportive and effective advice to help stay-at-home dads successfully deal with the psychological issues, as well as the everyday details, that make this parenting situation different. This advice-oriented guide also offers a special section of newsletters, online chat groups, playgroups around the country, and stay-at-home dad organizations.
Customer Reviews:
No more "Mr. Mom".......2004-12-06
While the day-to-day, 9-to-5 (only it's sometimes more like 24/7) career of child-rearing is still largely a female domain, Mr. Mom is no longer a movie cliche, but an SAHD, or Stay-at-Home Dad. As more mothers bring home larger pay checks, and more paying jobs can be done at home, more fathers find themselves able and willing to do the daycare thing. Thus the rise of dads like Peter Baylies, founder of the At-Home Dad Network and publisher of its newsletter, and thus this very useful and pragmatic guide for "Men Who Clean Bathrooms and the Women Who Love Them."
The Stay-at-Home Dad Handbook would be an excellent tool for any expectant parent, male or female, who wants to look after both home and children. Baylies is full of clear and clever advice about establishing routines, cleaning house (and how to schedule this around the needs of a small child), dealing with tantrums, attaining and maintaining a satisfying social life, living on one income, working at home, avoiding burnout, and what to do when the kid hits kindergarten age. Some of this stuff men simply need explained to them, and Baylies does that with admirable precision, flavored with amusing examples of traditional can-do male attitude - there's a really good idea about how to recycle your old computer and edutain your child at the same time - and tips only a dad would think of, or publish. (Having fun in the summer months via the "ice cube meltdown in armpit" method comes to mind.) But the book's guy-ness comes through most strongly in the "Spotlight on Dad" profiles that finish each chapter: vignettes, some funny and some poignant, by other SAHDs about their at-home experiences: the frustration of waiting and waiting, a squalling infant in one's arms, for the breast-feeding mom who's stuck on the freeway; the guy who's finally taken the proud step of calling himself "a professional parent." ("And if you call me Mr. Mom, I'll hit you with my diaper bag.")
It would be nice to hear a little more about the less tangible rewards of staying at home: the ease and intimacy of life with one's child, the pleasures of not commuting and of being one's own boss. But not to quibble; with its attention to detail and the appendix of cool resources, Baylies's latest child is for any father-to-be who dreams of becoming a real pro. -- Melanie Lawrence for the FEARLESS REVIEWS
Best Book Ever on Stay at home Dads.......2004-11-18
This is "THE BOOK" on stay at home dads! Fun and fast reading that offers valuable insight into the life of stay at home dads. Great parenting tips for both mom's and dad's. Read this book and you will be a better father. This book is a must read for any parent who takes parenting seriously.
Good For Working Moms Too!.......2004-10-14
As a recently back to work mom, I found this book to be incredibly helpful both for me and for my at-home dad husband. The chapter about how to deal with the "rush hour" time before dinner offers some great tips. I definately recommend this book to new moms and dads!
Fathers are people too.......2004-10-14
I had a chance to peek at an advanced copy of the book and I was floored by the creative advise and down to earth approach. I should have read this book 5 years ago when my son's were still young. Luckily I'll have plenty of time to practice on my daughter.
Men who change diapers change the world.......2004-09-29
The book provides valuable nuggets of information for the stay at home dad. This grassroots hands on voices of experience book is a great resource with funny and informative reading.

Book Description
A valuable insight into the political and material world of Ireland's leading aristocratic family. HISTORY For much of their lives the two dukes of Ormonde dominated public events in Ireland, where they served the English sovereign as viceroy five times; they were also powerful presences in the Stuart court in England, and commanded armies both in Ireland and Europe. Later, they spent long periods on the continent as travellers and exiles. Yet despite their importance in the public life of the age, neither duke has been the subject of a full modern biography, a gap which this collection of essays aims to fill, using key episodes and phases in the Ormondes' careers to investigate the larger picture. The dukes' lives as great nobles, landowners and converts to Protestantism raise problems specific to Ireland, but they also exemplify the predicament of nobles elsewhere in Europe. A particular focus is on the worlds that they and their wives created, often innovative and always dazzling, and on the clienteles who looked to them for preferment and on which a part of the Ormondes' political weight rested. Throughout, much new light is cast on such vexed questions as the troubled and constantly changing relationship between Ireland and England, between public and private interests, and the roles of women.Dr TOBY BARNARD teaches at the University of Oxford.Contributors: G.E.
