Great Book!.......2006-09-08

They say good things come in small packages and it is so true with this one. Good market wisdom never changes and everything in this book still applies today.

For those of you who don't know Richard Wyckoff used to have a magazine called "The Magazine of Wall Street". In it he would have articles written to teach his customers about the markets and how to trade sucessfully. This book was a part of some articles originally written in 1933 and 1934. It is full of great tid bits that mean so much to sucessfull trading that you can't find anywhere else.

He tells about market behavior and the difference between the way an amateur trades and a professional. Also discused is the way the professionals deceive the public with all their retoric. The emphasis is for the reader to learn on his or her own to make the best decisions without the influence of others. It is a great book for anyone who wants to learn more about investing or trading. I would call it a must read.

This is a compilation of articles written in the early part of the last century. The stories are fun to read, but more important there are messages that will serve to make you money, and help to preserve capital. It is funny, there is a 1929 chart of GE that shows the same type of rise and fall that we saw over the past year with many of the must own stocks. I found that what was true 70-100 years ago is still true today.

Worst study guide ever!.......2007-09-18

This study guide claimes to include "all of the Highlights, Outlines, and Notes for the textbook," but this description is completely inaccurate. It is only filled with a large number of definitions and lined pages for writing your own notes. It surely must have been written by someone who had no understanding of the subject. They simply picked out words at random, and looked them up in a dictionary, not the textbook. The definitions, as they relate to the context of the textbook, range from being way too complicated, to being near irrelevant, to being completely wrong. Some of the more important words that are unlikely to be found in Webster's were left out all together. I would be embarrassed to say I was the publisher. If it has ever helped anyone earn more than half a point I would be shocked. I might even consider it to be dangerous to one's grade due to the out-of-context definitions. An excellent text on Green Treefrogs.......2006-08-30

Green Treefrogs are probably the most readily available and frequently kept treefrogs on the planet today, and this book does a superior job of detailing their needs and requirements in the captive environment. The photographs illuminate visually what the text is driving at, so you get a good idea all-around of what these frogs are and how to care for them in the home terrarium. It's hard to believe that the author packed such a quantity of solid information into a 64 page book, but he did; this is the highest quality text on Green Treefrogs available on the market today.

I studied this book thoroughly and then attempted to make a pair of plain pants that FIT. I've been sewing for 40 years. I did not get a pair to fit, and after 6 muslins, bought PANTS FOR EVERY BODY. The problem was, I have specific, difficult fitting issues - flat, low seat, small waist, big thighs - which this book does not cover. So, if all you need to do is add width or length, this book is probably ok. It sounded great in theory - slide, mark, trace - but in reality I could not even come close to a good fit in pants.

I have read several other books by Nancy Z, and they have all been helpful. This one is an update (in my opinion) of Busy Women's Fitting Guide, and is more clear on several of the subjects. The book is well organized and easy to follow. My figure is almost impossible to fit correctly in ready to wear(small waist, 34DD bust, 40" hips), so now I finally have the tools to make EASY alterations that will work for my body! Whether you are relatively new to sewing, or an expert, if you want clothes that fit better, get this book!

Wonderful Tidbits!.......2006-01-07

I thought this book gave me some perspective into understanding certain tidbits about having a baby, that aren't often covered in regular baby/pregnancy books. It covered name meanings, to top toys of the 20th century, things that are rarely covered in pregnancy or baby books. I enjoyed the section on anatomy of a disposable diaper; to a new parent this was so interesting. It would be great as a baby shower gift, and talked about afterwards for a while.

We received this as a gift and found that the perfect spot for it was in the bathroom. We enjoy opening it at random and reading the interesting, funny or just plain unbelievable bits of trivia that it contains. This lighthearted collection of facts isn't designed to do anything more than amuse its readers, and if you expect that from the beginning you should enjoy it immensely.

While this little volume is entertaining, it also isn't something I'd recommend spending any significant amount of money on for yourself. Buy it new as a gift for the colleague whose baby shower you were invited to - it's much more clever and original than yet another pack of onesies or layette set - or pick it up used for yourself and enjoy.

I bought this book because I thought it sounded interesting and funny. While it was both of these, halfway through I found myself wondering why I wasted my money. Look these facts up on the internet if you really want to know them because the book isn't worth it's price.

Pregnant for the first time, I've been given every darn baby book on the market. Most of them put me in a panic. They are too sweet or too clinical. When my college best friend sent Crib Notes to me in the mail I almost didn't read it. But as soon as I opened it, my husband and I found ourselves laughing out loud. I highly recommend this book for the thinking Gen-x parents to be. It keeps your humor alive during this crazy time of change.
