Could be good but it's discontinued.......2005-06-28

This guide is usefull if you're devoting lot of time to queesland and the great barrier reef. Its best companion is the Lonely Planet Queensland guide (perhaps it's too much information).
But as I'm concerned, Lonely Planet is not doing anymore this guide (and this version is quite old, so it may be not updated).
What a pitty!...

This book offers a total perspective on personal portfolio management. The author will continually espouse the view that undervalued and overvalued assets offer uncommon profit opportunities. Its coverage is in sharp contrast to the more arcane academic view relating to market efficiency. Academicians subscribe to the idea that all markets are efficient and that returns may be increased only by the assumption of additional risk. Their view states that all known information about securities is embodied in the current market price. Securities adjust instantaneously to new information disseminated about different firms. In other words, academicians propose that undervalued and overvalued assets do not exist. Therefore, it is virtually impossible to earn superior returns or outperform the market.

The material is dated. I got about 10% of worth from the material. Tom Dorsey's books are better. The original book was written in 1934. Not much has been done to edit the book for today's markets.

Not quite what I expected ..........2005-03-29

I bought the hardcover version and it has no table of contents and no index.

Basically, it is very much theoretical in nature. It describes what PnF charting is, the types of patterns, trendlines, price objectives and other features.

There is no discussion as to how the Bullish %, High-Low, 10wk & 30wk-MA charts are created. There are no formulae given, stating that the Bullish % is proprietary to Investors Intelligence, StockCubes or Chartcraft. If one wants to know the formulae, they are freely available on Tom Dorsey's book and website.

It is quite comprehensive in its coverage. But it does not provide any practical applications to what it has written. This is a disappointment. Ultimately, it leaves the reader to experiment through trial and error, which can be costly.

I wish it follows the format of the book written by Stan Weinstein. In that book, it shows simply and clearly what the underlying theory is and how it is applied to the real world. Instead it has a format similar to that of Michael L. Burke's - The All New Guide to the Three-Point Reversal Method of Point & Figure Constructions and Formations. Not much difference in content either.

A must-have book about technical analysis.......2000-03-30

This book extends point and figure techniques for modern markets. The author methodology is consistent and logical, and the ideas particularly interesting. It is a successor to Wheelans classic. Lots of food for thought. Now all we need is a decent point and figure charting program so we can push the envelope even further.

Expensive .......2007-08-03

Same two techniques used repeatedly in the same way throughout the book: Right-angle weave and "Coraling Technique" (actually branch fringing), both can be easily found on internet. The 10 projects are all the same with some alterations (which are presented as "different" projects). In my opinion there was no need to publish a whole book (more accurately a 45 pages booklet with large pictures-good for visual learner- but for obvious reason to fill the pages) on just two techniques at such price.
I could give the book 3 star, but the price bothers me since you can find a lot of books with many different projects at the same price.

Beautiful Jewelry.......2006-03-17

Varvara has done it again. Her books are clearly illustrated and the projects do not fail to be beautiful. The techniques are surprisingly easy and success is possible even on a first try basis. Most of the projects are made with 11 seed beads. The projects are beautiful, easy and very gratifying.

The pieces in ths book are gorgeous and frothy, but not anything I'm likely to wear. Her 'Coraling Technique' is really just branch fringing taken to extremes; quite beautiful extremes.

It's a nice book (45 pages) to have in my beading library but I wish I'd spent my money on something more diverse.

Uniquely Useful Book - A must-read.......2002-01-29

I enjoyed this book for its coherent, "big picture" presentation. It is different from most nuts & bolts "how to parent" books (i.e. child does this, so do that), rather it discusses how to develop lasting solutions for both parent and child. This is the ONLY parenting book (and I've read 'em all!) that discusses how the PARENTS' RELATIONSHIP AND INTERACTIONS affects the children's behaviour - not in the obvious ways you think. This was very eye-opening and would be useful for all parents, those who are parenting together and those who aren't.

It is usually difficult to get my husband to read any books, but i got him to read this one. I personally think the pointers are great, they are both pracitcal and enlightening, especially those reminding parents that they should set an example for their child. What is really excellent are the highlighted one-liners that summarise the advice in each section- the only bits I could get my husband to read !

Dr. Rimm's explicit advice hit on a number of points for our family's individuals. . . amazingly correct assumptions on reactions to common mistakes and how to deal with them. I first brought it home from the library but after renewing it 5 times, I realized I might as well just purchase it for reference! I'd like to thank her in person, for she's saved my second son from his mom's poor reactions to her first son's problems. Thank you!!
