In Indian capital market, a historic change is going to take place on July 2, 2001. Indian capital market has a system of carrying forward the trades done on the stock market till the party completes the delivery of cash or certificates as the case may be or squares off the transaction with a buy or sell as appropriate. During the carry forward period, the margin may or may not be paid by the investor, but he has to pay carryforward charges from settlemet period to settlement period. This practice is being stopped from July 2, 2001 and India will have a derivative market in financial securities in which only the players can take positions by paying margins.

Hence, there is a lot of interest in the country to read books on futures and options trading. People are moving from library to library to read books on derivatives. It is in this context that I came across this book.

This book is edited one. Right at the beginning of the book, the editor focusses the readers on the three essential elements of future trading: discipline, well designed trading system, and adequate capitalization. A chapter on discipline by Jake Bernstein stresses the importance of continuous effort to track the market data and act upon it. Kenneth Upshaw's chapter on conserving capital is a very useful chapter. In a recent seminar, a number of experienced brokers commented that clients in general do not like stop loss actions. That means many traders in the markets are doing a basic mistake. The call of the editor to traders to review the basics of trading is very appropriate. Eighteen chapters are devoted to discuss various technical approaches that were used by master traders successfully.

The last chapter summarizes all the chapters in the book and provides the common threads of the master strategies.

This book is recommended for study by every aspiring futures trader. Only difficulty could be that you have to find it in a library.

A fantastic book. The first pages show Corina's progression as an artist.
From her beginner beads, to her now advanced beads. Lots of color photos.
Shows how to make a round bead. How to make a floral, an encased frog bead,
and more.

An easy to read book with step by step instructions. Talking about color combinations in glass, dot work, stringer control and how to pull your own stringer. Corina is a master artist and this book shares her knowledge with everyone. A great how to book that will make even the most complicated bead designs seem attainable.

I really loved reading this book, it's a great resource for lampwork artists. Funny, with lots of helpful hints and beautiful inspiring
photos of Corina's lampwork beads.

Love this book. Great color photos. Step by step instructions of how to make a round bead. How to make an encase floral and frog bead.

And Corina is a master at dot work and stringer control, both of which she discusses in this book. She also show the first beads she made as well as a necklace she strung with them. Fascinating tips on color combinations.

A must read book for anyone aspiring to make handmade glass beads.

Not much help...2 or 3 stars in reality........2006-10-17

I had intended to rate this a 2 or 3, but 5 popped up and I can't change it. I've found more things online that have been just as helpful as this book. Her site has little, if any, instructional information, and is now more about the ongoing drama in her life than her bead business. Cornina'a glass work is superior to most, no doubt, but I found that the inclusion of her dogs and excessively cute dialog to be distracting from the learning experience that she is supposed to be a master of.
If you can find a used copy for about half the cost of a new edition, you're probably paying what it's worth. There is an enormous amount of tutorials, examples, and lampworking/glass bead making forums that can instruct you on the basics as well, or better than, this pricey coffee table book. You may be able to find local classes for just a bit more than the cost of PTF VolII.

Wonderful Book, Wonderful Artist, Wonderful Beads!.......2006-10-10

First, let me say that before reading this book, I had read what I happen to consider the "Bible" of Glass Beadmaking, "Making Glass Beads" by Cindy Jenkins.
That being said, Corina Tettinger's book is the perfect follow-up to Jenkins book. Still, it isn't necessary to purchase or read Jenkin's book first, as Tettinger covers many of the same numerous details that you need to know if you plan to get into this type of artwork which requires patience, dedication, and a sense of humor.
This book is wonderful for many reasons, not the least of which is that it is bound in such a way that you can leave the book open to a particular page. So, if you need to prop the book up to look at the technique you are attempting, the book does not "fight" you while doing it.
The book itself is in a large format and the photographs are very well taken (and I speak as somewhat of an expert on this, after 35 years as a photographer) so I always want photographs to "explain" the technique to me as well as the written word.
And you are able to see the technique that Tettinger is describing, step by step, just as in Jenkin's book, which, while less expensive, is also physically smaller.
I also discovered that Tettinger will have examples of her beads for sale on eBay from time to time, and it's fun to be able to contact her if you have a question about a particular bead technique. She is very friendly and humble regarding her work.
If you keep track of her auctions you will see that her beads go for a very high price with many bidders. But like the book, they are worth every penny.
The book is costly,I paid around $85.00 for mine, but I purchased it right after it was printed and I wasn't about to wait for the price to go down, that is how much I wanted her book.
You definitely get what you pay for here. And, should she ever decide to write another followup book that is as large and as informative, I would most certainly buy it.

I wish I had known about this book before I started melting glass rods! This book has pointed out so many simple mistakes I've made. Although I have not gotten through the whole book, I am always anxious to go out to my workshop and apply what I have read thus far. :))) I feel like a learned apprentence now. Great book!

This book is my bead-maker-bible! I keep it near my work area and find new things every time I look in it. It has very clear instructions and is written in a very understandable and humerous way. I would say it's worth double the price you pay for it. I would reccomend this book to every beadmaker (beginner and advanced).

This book is very thick and would seem to be helpful in planning a family reunion, however, it seemed to focus more on geneology research and finding lost family members. It came with a CD-Rom, so I guess that was a perk.

Comprehensive study -- but not full text.......2002-05-10

Any medievalist will undoubtedly find William of Malmesbury's Gesta cited throughout the footnotes of other studies. This volume provides a comprehensive commentary and analysis of the Malmesbury manuscripts, equal in every respect to the high standard expected from Oxford Medieval Texts.
Be forwarned, however, that this volume contains only the commentary. Those interested in reading the excellent full-text English translation, or making their own interpretation from the Latin will require the companion Volume I, which for some reason, Amazon does not include in its catalogue listings.

The Historia Novella is a key source for the succession dispute between King Stephen and the Empress Matilda which brought England to civil war in the twelfth century. William of Malmesbury was the doyen of the historians of his day. His account of the main events of the years 1126 to 1142, to some of which he was an eyewitness, is sympathetic to the empress's cause, but not uncritical of her. Edmund King offers a complete revision of K. R. Potter's edition of 1955, retaining only the translation, which has been amended in places. Not only is this a new edition but it offers a new text, arguing that what have earlier been seen as William of Malmesbury's final revisions are not from his hand. Rather they seem to come from somewhere in the circle of Robert of Gloucester, the empress's half-brother, to whom the work is dedicated. In this way the work raises important questions concerning the transmission of medieval texts.

Wulfstan has been translated before; the fragments are edited here for the first time, and for the first time an assessment is offered of William as hagiographer, and of the relationship between his historical and hagiographical output. William was born c.1095 not far from Malmesbury in Wiltshire; he entered the monastery at Malmesbury as a boy, and stayed there as a monk for the rest of his life, writing works which were to win him lasting fame as a historian. His Deeds of the Bishops of England chronicles the activities of the bishops in all the dioceses of England from Augustine's arrival in Canterbury in 597 down to the 1120s when the work was being written; in addition to bishops and cathedrals, William also includes saints who were not bishops, and religious houses other than cathedrals. For the period after Bede's death in 730, it is the most important single source for English church history, and indeed, together with William's other great achievement, the Deeds of the Kings of England, for the history of England. Much of the material William retells in his own style, and with considerable narrative skill, from earlier sources available to him in the monastic library. But he also travelled widely in England, and the organisation of the Deeds reflects a clear chronological and topographical order, from Canterbury and Rochester to London, East Anglia and Wessex, north to York, Lindisfarne and Durham, thence to Mercia, and finally, 'returning home after a long journey', to his own abbey of Malmesbury and St Aldhelm.
