Customer Reviews:
the best book on cycling in the area.......2005-05-14
This is a gem of a book for people looking for comprehensive suggestions for biking in the area. Given that local maps and guides in the Netherlands are usually published in Dutch, this book is a great help to English speakers. I was impressed when I followed a route in this book how it took me through especially beautiful areas that I wouldn't have found otherwise. Although it's already a few years old, this book is still worth seeking out.
Plan your trip NOW!.......2000-05-03
What is wonderful about this book is that not only do you get detailed maps with good directions, but there are also overview maps so that you have a sense of where you are in the countries. Everything that you need for a great cycling trip is included, transportation to and within the countries, a few accomodations (and especially where there are no accomodations), noteworthy sites, restaurants and prices. The routes are generally circle routes with side trips and also connect with each other with both total mileage for the whole circle and sectional mileages. Because this book is well organized with excellent maps - I will definately go to Benelux for a leisurely cycle tour - and probably more than once.

Customer Reviews:
It's Accounting.......2006-11-04
I bought this book for a Managerial accounting class. I found that chapters to be well written and the example easy to follow. Enron gets used a lot. What I didn't like was that problems in the back of the book are not as clear as they could be. Most of the time, I plug in the wrong formula. So that part could have been clearer. The answers are all on a CD, that access a website for the answers. So if you like me and still have dial-up, you may have a problem there too. However I am still pulling a B in the class, so I'm getting something.
Very Practical Book,Classic.......2006-01-27
Jerry really knows how to help people learn accounting. Learning accounting is about practising but not reading. Reading helps but it won't solve problems. The one thing I really appreciate about this book is Jerry uses real life accounting practice within companies from different industries to illustrate every single chapter, within which all the accounting theories and principals naturally flow. You can see all the kinds of accounting problems with actual number and data being solved with the application of relevant accounting theories, principals and methods. You know how real things are done. I have read many accounting books, among which loads of books lack exercises for me to practice after I read certain chapter. But buying Jerry's book, you get two books, one for reading, and one for exams. Nearly half of the book is Exam Questions, which emulate my real exams quite well. I can't believe an accounting without good exercise questions is an book. If you seriously want to pass exams and know how the real accounting is done, this is the book for you!
No solutions... How are you supposed to check your progress?.......2005-09-12
This book is good about listing the objectives and showing you exactly where to find the answers for the multiple choice questions. For example: What is the purpose of a job cost sheet? The book highlights the area where the answer is. Easy huh? Well, what about the actual accounting problems? The detailed problems at the end of each chapter have NO SOLUTIONS to them, and you can't buy a solutions guide unless you are an instructor! I'm not an accounting wizard, so I have to actually practice before it sticks in my brain... imagine that. I guess they expect everyone to see the problems and read about the problems and automatically get it. They work out a "Demonstration Problem" for you, but that only applies to some of the problems at the end of each chapter.

Do not take Managerial Accounting without this book.......2007-04-23
This book is what got me through managerial accounting in my MBA program. As a dyslexic mathphobe I was very nervous about taking an accounting class and I was not comforted at all by a professor who only seemed to speak in numbers and a textbook that confused even my friend - the CPA.
This book is clear, concise, and to the point and has tons of exercises/problems with a the answers fully worked out and explained. This book helped me get an A in my class - I highly recommend this book to everyone who needs help in managerial accounting.
Brush up on Part 2 of CMA with this product........2007-01-02
This book is great! It gives you really good examples of cost accounting problems. It includes easy to understand solutions in every chapter. I'm a current CMA candidate and this book helped understand many of costing procedures that I had difficulty grasping in college. Excellent review material!
Advance and Simple!!.......2001-04-10
like other books of SHIM & SIEGEL this book is also very simple for following althoug it is an advance book in the managerial accounting area.

where is a solution manual.......2006-03-29
anyone know where to buy a solution manual for this?
Poorly organized and insufficient........2005-02-09
This book is poorly organized. It lacks sufficient examples for many of the problems and exercises - what little is available is not sufficiently labeled to be fully understood. The Managerial Accounting Study Guide that can be purchased separately offers very little help. Furthermore, no answers are available in the book or the study guide, so unless you purchase the Solutions Manual (yes, you have to spend more and more to make sense of this mess), you will be lost. As a college student with a 3.9 GPA, I can say with confidence, this book is terrible.
A Big Dose of Managerial Accounting.......2000-04-27
This book is very good for teaching you managerial accounting. I used this book in college and found it to actually be of use, unlike a lot of college textbooks. You could read the chapter and be able to do the exercises at the end of the chapter.
I mean, you know the types of books where they have questions and it's literally impossible to deduce how to answer the questions from the chapter. This book is not like that. It teaches you how to prepare specialized documents for internal business usage. The only reason I didn't give it 5 stars was because I felt that the information could be better organized as to make it easier to find.

Customer Reviews:
Must have for every knitter.......2007-09-15
I have a great collection of books; some are by designers, others compilations from knitting magazines or their editors. This book is a basic for every knitter's library. Since there are many books available, you need to know what makes this book special. It shows you the stitch; graphs it for you, but also writes out the verbiage for the stitch, which is what most knitters are used to.
Certainly lots of stitches, but no context, perhaps translation issues.......2007-06-25
I'm trying to teach myself knitting, and I am trying lots of stitch patterns as I go. I was thrilled at first to see how many patterns this book had, but after a while, it frustrated me. There is absolutely no context to the patterns---no comments, no advice, even very little division into sections. The patterns also seem to use notations and terms that are not the same as most I see. I saw this book was translated from Italian, and I wonder if something was lost in translation. It also seems physically cheaply made, as if the pages might fall out at any times. But it does have about the most stitch patterns of any book I've seen, if you can understand them!
Takes me away from plain stockinette.......2007-05-08
I've only been knitting for about a year, and haven't ventured past rib and stockinette. I've found pattern books to be focused on the pattern, without too much information about the actual stitch they are charting. This was the book I was looking for! "How-to" for the actual stitch. My plan is to knit separate blocks (sort of like a knit sampler), and join them into a throw. With that plan, I hope to teach myself different stitches and make my sweaters more versatile.
I did my first block using the Ladder Rung stitch. Some readers expressed disatisfaction with pattern accuracy. I did not find this to be true. I used the instructions for Ladder Rung, and my sample looked exactly like the one pictured. I did find the stitch instructions rather "crammed together." When a line wraps around to the next line for the same row, it is hard to keep glancing back and forth to see if you are on the right line. For example:
Row 1: xxxxxx
xxxxx
xxxxx
Is much harder to follow than:
Row 1: xxxxxx xxxxx xxxxx
I will try copying the instructions out so that 1 line contains 1 row.
I'm pleased with the investment, and look forward to integrating these stitches into my knitting projects.
a good book.......2007-05-07
This is a very interesting book if you are interested in new knitting patterns!
Big Book of Knitting Stitch Patterns.......2007-03-08
This is exactly what I was looking for. Had lost my old stitch pattern books in moving. It has ALL the stitches I had used and wanted to use again in one volume!!

Customer Reviews:
Good & Interesting Knitting Stitch Dictionary.......2006-12-28
This is a good knitting stitch dictionary, but if you are just starting out, look for the Barbara Walker dictionaries which are the classic foundations of the field, to see if you would like them as well or instead. A few notes:
- The description is wrong, it has 550 stitch patterns, not 142 as stated in the editorial description.
- As of this moment that I am writing, this same book is available in a miuch cheaper printing in the US, see ISBN 1402727631 (or search for the same title).
Every pattern has a large finely detailed swatch photo, text instructions, and charted instructions, with a chart symbol list with each pattern. It is a translation of an Italian dictionary, so at times the terminology is not quite what would be used in the US. Also it could stand a decent index.

Collector's quality, interesting botanical history........1997-08-12
A beautiful book - mechanically, textually, and artistically. In describing details of botanical discovery since Linnaeus, it makes interesting and alive what could easily be dry subject matter. The text touches on European intellectual history, and some American history in the process. It's filled with magnificently printed historical color illustrations of plants from the Library of Congress collection. Printed on heavy paper, very nicely bound, quality dust jacket, bookmark ribbon woven to the spine - a real collector's item
Book Description
This book will be a great addition to your homeopathic library. Once you've been using homeopathics for a while, and begin to work on a deeper level with them, you'll wonder which (for instance) liver remedy is really the one you need, when there are several which might be right. This book is the book that gives the particular spiritual/psychological picture of the remedies that will let you decide. With an unbelievable insight in some 300 homeopathic medicines Didier Grandgeorge gives us in a nutshell the essence (the spirit) of these remedies.
Customer Reviews:
Review of the Spirit of Homeopathic Medicine.......2007-08-24
I expected a different sort of book than this one turned out to be. It does have some useful information in it but most of the remedies are sketched very briefly and the interpretation is too Freudian for me. Also, most of the examples are about children, although the title does not tell you that.
Fairy Tale Homeopathy.......2007-06-10
I am greatly disappointed by the way the writer of this book grossly oversimplifies homeopathy, and specifically, the quick, magic-like cures he reports in his "observations." He continuously gives examples of cases where symptoms "disappeared completely" after one dose of this or one dose of that.
The truth is, I am certainly one of the biggest proponents of homeopathy one could ever meet. I know how truly powerful and capable homeopathy is at treating and healing people (especially when using LM potencies). But this author, Didier Grandgeorge, is very irresponsible and misleading to write about homeopathic remedies the way he does.
Homeopathic cures are a bit of a process. The remedies are not magic potions that make one's symptoms just "disappear." They work on an energetic level to restore balance, hence, undesirable symptoms get changed, transformed, and also eliminated in the process, but this rarely happens (for non acute cases) via one dose. The author also fails to mention any of the beautiful psychological changes or occurrences of personal growth and expanded awareness that are not only a result of a cure, but ARE ESSENTIAL to a real and lasting cure.
On a more positive note, his oversimplified, quick "takes" on the remedies themselves (verses his paragraphs of case "observations") can be somewhat useful IF combined with the remedy pictures of other writers (lots of other writers!).
Not extensive but very helpfull.......2007-05-03
This is a charming little book in which the constitutional remedies are described, mostly in a one page review. These reviews are short, but try to catch the ESSENCE of every remedy. The reviews do NOT include an extensive list of deseases for which this remedy would be helpfull. To me this book was very usefull because it shows you "what every remedy is about".
Superficial, not at all useful for classical homeopaths.......2005-09-09
I do NOT recommend this book to any serious student or practitioner of classical homeopathy.
you will find" jewels" in this book which can be life saving.......2004-12-26
there are so many excellent homeopathic books [frans vermeulen, morrison etc etc]
grandgeorge stresses some issues [i would call them jewels]in this book, which can be life-saving.
i would recommend for example-any doctor [urologist] to try
asa foetida for mild to even severe ureter-reflux.
i have seen asa foetida being able to prevent intra-uterine operations, just after using a few doses.
quite a few children benefitted from it who would have by now been operated.
a uncredible useful clinical book [even if it is called the spirit oh homeopathic medicines]
was it only for this tip, then the book is worth buying.
