Granted, I don't have children (yet) but I am a picky eater. This book is wonderful for making simple and yummy recipes. I also really like the fact that each recipe includes each nutrient your getting and how much. Below the recipe gives you calories, carbs, fiber, etc. This book is an easy read and very informative, for the new or old vegetarian/vegan person.

This is really wonderfull book for all caring parents and a really helpfull guide to rising a compasonate, responsible and happy little people from their birth on, as well as perfect gift and reading for all people who are involved with children, no metter if they are vegetatian or not.
If you are vegan or vegetarian parents (or just think about becoming one) this book will also give you valuable advices on how to manage (respectfully) with realatives and friends who are not vegetarians/vegans.

This book is my favorite on this subject!

I am really impressed with the thoughtful ways that the authors have addressed raising vegetarian children in our culture. I am familiar with other books by both authors and so I surmised that the book would be about a pure vegetarian/vegan lifestyle, though those who include dairy and eggs in their diet will absolutely benefit from reading this book (nor is there any preachy tone about different choices). The authors have done a great job of helping find ways (some creative, some straightforward) to deal with family concern/conflict over diet and there is extensive nutritional information which is laid out in a readily comprehensible manner. The recipes are great- I hadn't expected so many recipes to be included with this book and I am grateful that they have been. My son and partner have loved everything we've prepared from this book! (Try the Tri-Color Quinoa Corn Salad!!) Growth charts...advice for ages infant to teen...comprehensive information on every page-- all written in a friendly and intelligent way. I highly recommend this book as an excellent resource for families raising vegetarian or vegan children of any age.

This is the first book I bought to learn to make cold processed soap. The pictures are lovely and the content is good to a certain extent. I did make my first soaps from receipes in this book. I think this is a good starter book; however, if the art of soapmaking truly interests you, you will want to buy a more indepth book.

This book goes through the process psychologist Dr. Turecki would take if you brought your child to his office for counseling, using several case studies to illustrate his points (which are common areas of concern). He starts by helping you determine the actual problems your family is experiencing, and getting past everyone's emotional reactions. Turecki discusses common discipline problems and how parents may unknowingly contribute to them, and how parents can talk to each other (even when they disagree). Guidelines are given on how to choose which behaviors to start working on changing, and how to describe the problem objectively. One of the strengths of this book is you are then guided in thoroughly looking at your child's temperament and history to help you see the issues in his or her unique situation which will help you in finding solutions. Turecki does not pretend that one solution works for all children, since children have inborn temperaments which affect how they relate to the world. The author gives practical advice for specific behaviours and provides guidelines to knowing when to seek professional help, and how to work with teachers. As a teacher, child care worker, lay counselor and mother I found this book to be one of the best on the subject. McL.Cote offers an in-depth account of the lives of Charles Stewart Parnell's family, focusing on his mother's heritage, her life and that of his sisters. Of special interest are McL.Cote's account of the workings of Famine relief in the US and the role Fanny and Anna played in collecting and distributing funds. These activist sisters contributed significantly to Irish Famine relief, and Anna continued in her role as a national activist during the rent evictions that followed. Added to the biographical narrative are selections of poetry written by the sisters. Although sometimes tedious in detail, the book offers readers interested in 19th century Ireland an important history.
