It was great, and I'm not just saying that; I'm a closet-case homosexual, so you know it must be true. When I was done reading it, I passed it on to my "friend" Paula. Paula didn't enjoy it as much as I did. In fact, she kinda thought it was crap. Oh well, this wonderful piece of work I will treasure for quite sometime.

For this book, you need a magnifying glass to read it! The print is way too small. It's okay to use when accompanied with a textbook but not great on its own. Additionally, I think it's out of date and not up to ACOG standards. Of the entire 5 week rotation, I picked up this book once!

You can tell the medical students at your local teaching hospital. They're the ones with the short lab coats and the pockets bulging with small paper-back books.

For those who are in training to become a Doctor a premium is placed on easily-accessible, highly accurate and important information. I remember going through my clinical rotations and thinking that I needed a "pocket" book for every medical rotation to supplement my massive 20-pound, $100 texts while I was on the wards and in the clinic.

Early into my OB/GYN Residency I got the hot scoop - THIS is the book to keep in your lab-coat if you're practicing OB/GYN. By the time I was a chief resident this book had saved me time and heartache and saved my patients from my blunders over and over. Simply not the book for me..........2007-08-10

Goodness, I wish I had read all of the reviews before purchasing this book. When my husband and I found out that we had a few infertility issues to address we promised ourselves to try and stay positive and not to become obessed with having a biological child. The experiences Ms. Swire-Falker had to endure were incredibly unfortunate, but I found myself thinking...stop the procedures and get on with your life. She seemed obsessed with having a baby and I simply didn't relate. My husband and I love children and want to have a family, but not at the cost of my career, our marriage, or financial security. There was some useful information, so I did find the book helpful on some fronts.

I just started my first IVF cycle. My best friend who also went through IVF bought this book for me. She read it and thought it would help me. It really has!
I read it in three days. I laughed, cryed and was uplifted. Elizabeth's story is compelling, heartfelt, but most of all imformative. Believe it or not it was even comforting to know we aren't alone in this world of infertility. If you are having trouble starting a family and would like to explore all of your options, I urge you to read this book. It is brilliantly written.

Should be called the IVF Survival Handbook.......2007-06-24

While the writing is accessible and conversational, I found this book to be heavily biased towards IVF (at one point stating "In vitro fertilization is truly amazing and miraculous."). Falker provides a wealth of information for women considering IVF, but in her descriptions of alternative treatments, she inevitably makes a statement along the lines of "but IVF is better." I know she wishes she had tried IVF sooner, but for some people IVF just isn't an option. In order to truly be an "infertility survival guide" the book needs to have some focus on the positives of other fertility treatments/options. It really should be called the IVF survival handbook.

Her personal experiences made for a nice touch, but I found a lot of it too negative. I really don't want infertility to become the sole focus of my life, so I found how all-consuming her process became very, VERY scary. She does offer some helpful hints on how to tell people that you are struggling with fertility and how to deal with the many off-hand comments that people make about having children & dealing wtih fertility issues (although a lot of her focus is on how insensitive people are, so again... venturing to the negative). Personally, I found the book to be negatively focused and a little disheartening.

I highly recommend this book for women/couples struggling with infertility. Buy this before you go to your first appointment with your Reproductive Endocronologist - so that you understand the different options which are presented to you and your partner. My husband and I have referred to this book like an encyclopedia over the past 2 years and I am grateful for the author's straight talk. If you want "the skinny" on these issues - this is the book for you.

A good, thorough review of most ob/gyn topics dealt with on a medical school rotation. Straightforward layout and thorough table of contents made it easy to use in clinic. The amount of information contained is impressive and useful, but it is uncomfortably heavy to be carrying around in your coat pocket all day.

Thorough and comprehensive, this book provides a well-organized outline of almost any obstetrical or gynecological topic. The information is up to date and excellently referenced. The illustrations and figures are clear and easy to use and the book contains multiple tables and schemae to make quick sense of detailed topics. While the book is great to have on hand and does fit into the pocket of a white coat, its greatest drawback is the 3 cm thickness of its 689 pages.

This is a great book, especially for the price. It is too bad it has lost its "pocket size", but on the other hand you can actually read the font in this edition, and there are several important additions/expansions (actually it does fit in the coat pockets, it is just a little bulky). I would certainly recommend this book to anyone doing Ob/Gyn clerkships, Sub-I's or residency. Other than Up to Date and hospital-specific protocols, this is the most-used reference.

Larousse is a classicist and presents classic Western cuisine in this book.

The book is geared towards the professional in several ways. Firstly, it provides recipes for just about every type of hor d'oeuvre you could possibly imagine from the Western classical tradition. Larousse even includes a recipes for puff pastry. Secondly, Larousse assumes that you have mastered certain standard sauces like Mornay or Hollandaise. I think this is acceptable since the book already provides so much information on hors d'oeuvres that it would be unmanageable if Larousse tried to cover classic sauces. I recognized the names of all the sauces and the reader shouldn't have a hard time getting recipes for them.

There is a simple test to determine whether your level of sexual maturity and experience surpasses the level to which this book is addressed...Do you giggle nervously and blush whenever you hear the word &quot....."? If you've made it past that stage, then you're ahead of this book. Naive, uninspired, unsophisticated, shallow, brainless and silly are all words that come to mind. Ozzie and Harriet would have found it "naughty", but Mike and Carol Brady would have probably fallen asleep before chapter two.

This book clearly states the life of lots of the artists in the book, but not enough on their art related life. The book is intresting, but not the best book in the world. This book is good for reports, and has almost every artist you can think of. I think that this book is good if you are reading it for a reason, but if you are reading it because you have no other books to read, then it might get boring.

If you want to get a good idea of what it's like to be on Corregidor and have the Japanese strafe and bomb and attack you, Bunker's account is excellent. It is down to earth and very revealing in day to day activity in trying to copy with a very frustrating situation.....

Colonel Bunker tried to tell it all....The Fall of Corregidor, as told by the then Seaward Defense Commander of the Harbor Defenses of Manila and Subic Bays. Although from a personal standpoint, there were operational activities cited in his diary such as the "Geary Shoot to Bataan", "Ballistic testing of Sea Rifles and ammunition", "Counter Battery Operations vs the Japanese", to name a few.....The later half of the book describes Colonel Bunker's life as a POW..Again the book has it's share of wrong dates (credit the editor of the diary, Barlow) for stating that Battery Geary blew up on the 18th of April. Correction: it was May 2, '42. I'm sorry that I had to point this out because I do my "homework" when it comes to Corregidor, but nevertheless, it's still a great book...
