This should be your first adoption book.......2007-06-16

If you are considering adoption (or have already decided!) this is the book to get. I got this book when my husband and I were first looking into adoption. It gives a great overview of adoption and explains each step very well. It can be read straight through or you can go straight to a certain page to get answers for your questions. Now that we are a little further along in the adoption process I'm reading it again and getting even more out of it. I've read about 6 different adoption books so far and this one is the best.

Very thorough book and easy to read.......2005-10-22

We were considering adoption, and knew absolutely nothing about it before reading this book. It gives an excellent, neutral explanation of everything you need to know about adoption. It doesn't sugar coat anything.

It is also a great book because you don't have to read it in any certain order. You can pick and choose which chapters interest you.

It was very informative and made me feel more confident about the whole process. I would recommend it to anyone considering adoption.

A good book to help you make an adoption decision........2004-09-02

I began reading this book last fall. It was exactly what I was looking for. A high level overview of the different types of adoption, along with lots of practical advice on what to expect when adopting. The format was easy to read and easy to follow. I feel that this book gave a very honest, straightforward view of all types of adoption, so that the reader could decide what they are most comfortable with. Now that we have decided on an adoption path, we are on to other resources, but Adoption For Dummies was really helpful while we were trying to decide what path to take.

A lot of information at a fast pace.......2003-09-16

This adoption book was published in 2003 and so the vital statistics, forms and costs should be current; still, I suggest to the prospective adoptive parents not to be dummies but to double check everything.

This book is really handy. It's nice that it's specific to the chihuahua breed--lots of information to help this new puppy owner differentiate between the general advice for all puppies and approaches best suited to my pup.

One of my favorite things about this book is the way it has really helpful information like diagrams of different tail positions and whether they indicate something is wrong. Great reference.

very good book, i just adopted a 2 year old chi & i love him dearly but he was not well socialized or well-temermented & this book gave me soo much information on how to correct that even though hes not a puppy and the advice works lol i take my pup to the park in the AM when dog off leash time is allowed and now he plays and doesnt hide or attack and thanks for all the chi adivce

I found this book to be very easy and fun to read, plus extremely informative. It's a great book to buy BEFORE you get your Chihuahua because it puts everything into perspective. After I got my two Chihuahua puppies I carefully followed this book's instructions and my puppies immediately learned to be very obedient and it wasn't long before they were potty trained inside and outside the house. I highly recommend it!

This book was very well written and had everything I could possibly want to know about Chihuahuas. The author seemed very knowledgable and that fact that she used to show AmStaffs makes me like her even more. Two thumbs up.

The "traditional" food of Israel is a mix of Middle East with Russian, German, Polish, & a wide range of cultures. Capturing the flavor of Israel is a challenge. "Taste of Israel" not only captures the tastes of the country, it shares the history, the people behind the process, culture, art, current events, and blends it all into a fantastic recipe to capture the spirit of Israel. The photography is fantastic, clear, sharp and capturing the essense of the country. Excellent as a gift book to honor the country or to keep in your cookbook racks. Lovely design and layout. Another great McGraw book!.......2005-02-22

Mary Jo McGraw always makes a good technique book and this is no exception. There are lots of good techniques for using walnut ink in here. I had always just used it to stain paper by spraying in on with a spray bottle but here she shows other ways to apply it (like using a brush) and get different antique effects. All the techniques are broken down into easy to understand steps, each with a picture showing exactly what to do. In addition to the walnut ink there are techniques using beeswax, stamping on mica, using napkins, alcohol ink, omni gel transfer techniques, etc. She does all these with copies of antique photos and boy they are just so cool and so easy. So many techniques to play with - this book will keep you busy and learning for a long time. I've had it for a few months now and keep picking it up to try new things. An absolute must have if you like that antique look.

What a Find!.......2004-10-12

I found this gem of a book in the library and now I am going to buy a copy. Why? because it is so full of ideas I don't want to forget a one! Mary Jo's ideas range from modest to WOW! She uses materials in ways I never would have thought of. Inspriring me to use my own vintage pictures on fresh new ways. I can not wait to try the rubber stamping on copper and the photo transfer onto metal. One of my grandfather's was a tinsmith and I am looking forward to doing a picture of him on that metal. I recomend this book to anyone who is looking for new ways to enjoy card making and scrapbooking.

I purchased this book for a friend of mine for her birthday...This book is so full of ideas and helpful hints that I was sorely tempted to keep it and bring her flowers instead!!!...If you enjoy great quality pictures, well written instructions and inspiring artsy examples, you want this book in your collection. Trust me, I'm hoping someone gets the 'bright' idea to get me one for MY birthday.

I was there too.......2004-12-08

There was no tradition of discriminating against Asians in the USMC...I would refer you to Navy Cross recipient Maj Chew-Een Lee USMC - what do you think he underwent being a AA Marine officer in the 50s! I was at OCS the same time Bruce was there...no big deal - some racial remarks but nothing I would call institutionalized discrimination. I and a Vietnamese-American graduated the same summer he was there - why weren't we dropped? Maybe because we performed to acceptable standards while Bruce did not. OCS is meant to subject candidates to mental and physical stress - if you can't hack someone calling you names - how will you take combat?? Most of my Sgt Instructors were minorities themselves - if anything I think they were glad to see that a minority was becoming an officer. I've been a Marine officer for 15 years and can only say - I think he's made himself famous at the expense of other AA Marine officers who have graduated OCS without having to file a lawsuit.
