Book Description
For years, Douglas Haig has been considered perhaps the most controversial military leader in British history. Today his career is at the center of a swirling historiographical debate concerning the nature of the First World War. The traditional school contends that Haig, like the majority of generals from both sides, were overmatched, hidebound relics of a bygone military age who could not come to grips with modern war. They allegedly sent their soldiers “over the top” in waves, with a criminal disregard for the mounting cost in lives. A new revisionist school contends that many Great War leaders, including Haig, were central to a phenomenal period of military innovation that laid the foundations for modern war. This so-called learning curve led from the killing fields of the Somme to the protoblitzkrieg tactics of the 100 Days Battles.
Having achieved a measure of fame in Britain’s colonial wars, Haig began the First World War as a corps commander and succeeded to command the British Expeditionary Force (BEF) in 1915. Under his leadership, the BEF fought its two signature battles of the Great War—at the Somme and Passchendaele. Haig’s role in the direction of these battles earned him a reputation as a “butcher and bungler,” the slaughter of the Somme and the muddy hell of Passchendaele forever tarnishing his reputation. However, as Andrew Wiest points out, in 1918 Haig was instrumental in winning one of the greatest victories in British military history. While the 100 Days Battles often go unnoticed or unappreciated in the history of World War I, obscured by the failures of earlier campaigns, it was here that modern war came of age. Haig’s role in that transformation makes him the central figure of the war on the Western Front.

A Good Introduction.......2007-05-23
Field Marshal Sir Douglas Haig is one of the most controversial commanders of the First World War and indeed of all British history. Was he a military genius without the resources that he needed or was a military incompetent of the first order? According to Andrew Wiest, in this short study of Haig's years on the western front, he was more of the former than the latter. Wiest, however, is not offering some kind of sanitized version of history. He realizes and has no problem showing when and where his subject blundered. His coverage is through and his prose is easy to follow. This book makes for a nice introduction on the topic of Sir Douglas. Highly recommended.
Average.......2006-12-27
Short (very short) look at Gen Douglas Haig during his command in the First World War. Much of the historical community is split on whether Haig is a genius or idiot and this book does little to shed light either way. Very little in the way of decisive praise of condemnation, Wiest's contribution is simply there. Most of the time, lack of bias is good, but not much is gained by reading this book that can not be gleaned from regular history books. Good for quick reference to Haig's career, but limited in what it covers or offers beyond ordinary vanilla.

Book Description
This richly detailed biography captures both the personal life and the scientific career of Isaac Newton, presenting a fully rounded picture of Newton the man, the scientist, the philosopher, the theologian, and the public figure. Professor Westfall treats all aspects of Newton’s career, but his account centres on a full description of Newton’s achievements in science. Thus the core of the work describes the development of the calculus, the experimentation that altered the direction of the science of optics, and especially the investigations in celestial dynamics that led to the law of universal gravitation.

Superb.......2006-03-18
A first rate biography should include a good description of the important achievements of the subject, give a good sense of the subject's personality, provide the appropriate historic context in which to view the subject, be well written, and have good documentation. Westfall's biography of Newton is first-rate in all these dimensions. Newton is arguably the most important person in modern history. His work inaugurates both modern mathematics and modern physics. His achievements as a physicist set the pattern not only for physics but also for the other natural sciences. Newton's impact in larger culture extended also beyond the world of sciences. The historian of religion George Marsden wrote that Newton was the most important individual in the founding of the 18th century Enlightenment. Though Newton cannot be considered a member of that movement, his example of demonstrating universal natural laws understandable by human reason was immensely influential in European intellectual culture.
Westfall provides a detailed chronological account of Newton's life that covers all his major (and minor) achievements and is simply excellent at integrating the relevant historical background information. As Westfall writes, we regard Newton as a scientist and the emphasis in on Newton's career as a working scientist and mathematician. But, this is described very clearly within the context of late 17th century Europe. Westfall, for example, devotes ample pages to Newton's study of alchemy and theology. Since Newton spent a large fraction of his life working in these areas, it would be imposing an anachronistic perspective to minimize attention to these topics. Westfall is excellent at describing both the intellectual and social milieu in which Newton functioned. The sections detailing the history of mathematics and physics of Newton's important predecessors and contemporaries are first-rate, particularly his analysis of the impact of Descartes analytical geometry and mechanistic philosophy. His descriptions of 17th century Cambridge, with its concentration of pseudo-academic placemen, and of the generally patronage driven world of Caroline Britain are excellent. Never at Rest provides a vivid impression of the nature of scientific work in Newton's time. Westfall does not shirk from presenting complex mathematical and physical topics. These sections are tough going for those who don't recall a lot of math and physics but very worthwhile because they give an excellent sense of Newton's transforming effects on these disciplines.
Westfall delineates Newton's difficult personality very well and is fair in dealing with the numerous conflicts in which Newton became enmeshed, particularly the famous priority dispute with Leibnitz. Some of Newton's behavior is shown also to have stemmed from unexpected sources. Newton's theological researches led him to the conclusion that much accepted Christian theology is wrong and he had to conceal his Arianism and anti-Trinitarianism for much of his life. Some of Newton's achievements are shown as stemming from unexpected sources also. Westfall shows that Newton's alchemical researches, with their rather mystical element, probably contributed to freeing him from dogmatic mechanistic philosophy and facilitated his development of the idea of a universal, intrinsic gravitational force.
Newton is a fascinating figure and this biography will remain the standard for the foreseeable future.
Awesome!.......2006-01-16
I just finished Westfall's biography of Sir Isaac Newton. The man was way more amazing than I ever expected. For myself, being neither a mathematician nor a physicist, the most fascinating and surprising thing was his in depth and, for the time, out of the box examination of religion.
As with his scientific studies, Newton's religious studies were relentless in the pursuit of Truth. Between the end of the Bible and the nineteen century, I can find no one who concluded more precisely such doctrines as the nature of God, the relationship of the Father and Son, the relationship of God and man, the nature of early Christianity, or the magnitude and meaning of the then extant departure of Christianity from the original. Obviously, this is from an observer who agrees with his conclusions.
Newton's prodigious talent for leaving no stone unturned in his examination of his subject matter, coupled with his utter genius leaves me entirely in awe.
Westfall's 20 year effort in writing this biography has yielded a masterpiece!
A magnificent book about a great life.......2004-04-24
This is a remarkable biography because it so thoroughly tells the story of Sir Isaac Newton in all its various aspects. Newton's determination to know, his science (breathtaking science, his awesome brilliance), the religious and alchemical investigations, the cranky aloofness, are all carefully and fully drawn; by the end of the book, you feel, along with the author, that you have got to know the subject (at least to the extent one might get to know the great man).
This is a great biography, because it is so detailed, so in depth and so successful at bringing Newton in view. It is also likely that it will for many years surpass any other biography of Newton because of its thoroughness.
I think it is worth reading not only because the reader learns so much about the science and life of one of history's great thinkers, and to some extent how he thought, but also because the reader gains an appreciation of the hard work of invention even for one so gifted as Newton, and some insight into the hard work of turning observations into theoretical constructs.
A magnificent biography.
Pebbles on a shore.......2002-10-19
There are a fair number of Newton biographies, this one is the most comprehensive and thorough, with a full treatment of the development of Newton's scientific and mathematical thought. What is remarkable is how rapidly Newton mastered the essentials of the techniques of his contemporaries, quietly reaching the forefront of knowledge, this in a few years, and without much prior training before his arrival in the world of Cambridge, where he flowered at once despite the almost defunct educational status of this university. The myth, however, of the annus mirabilis needs replacement with the reality of the anni mirabili, next to the near abandonment of mathematics for some years as Newton's concerns passed to encompass something broader than pure physics and his deskdrawer 'calculus' still embedded in geometrical formalisms. The final composition of the Principia in the wake of the coaxing forth of De Motu is grounds for thunderous applause for Halley who had the presence of mind to grasp who he was dealing with and the politic manner needed to communicate/negotiate with the reclusive prime mover of theory. His great work complete Newton is off to rescue the coinage at the Royal Mint, thence to the forgettable episodes of the priority quarrel with Leibniz. This work is slow but superb on all aspects of Newton's life.
Everyone who pay a tribute to Newton must buy.......2001-08-20
This is the most authorative biograghy of Newton, the greatest genius of all time!! No need to add more words to praise him. Though the book runs over 900 pages, you would be reading the book breathless until the last page!!! ( similar view from other readers. )

An excellent resource for elementary schools.......2006-07-06
When I was in elementary school, the class was given the assignment to research common sayings such as "Cat Got Your Tongue?" Everyone in the class enjoyed the assignment; my project was to research the phrase "Let's Talk Turkey." This book contains 21 popular sayings with explanations of their origins and their current meanings. For each saying there is a multiple choice problem where the real meaning is one of the selections. The explanation and origin of the phrase then follows the multiple choice question.
This is an excellent resource book for elementary schools. It is a book that children will also read for fun, I used to encourage my children to read such books and then explain some of their readings to me. It made for great mealtime conversation.

Good Home Style West African Food.......2005-10-02
This book truelly accomplishes the West African style, specifically Nigerian style, of cooking. My husband and I have enjoyed cooking many of these recipes. I highly recommend this book for anyone wanting to experience true west african cooking.
Good recipes.......2005-01-23
I love the presentation of the recipes and dishes in this book of traditional african cuisine. I am an Igbo woman who was born in the U.S. and I wanted a book to guide me in making some of my favorite dishes from childhood. Food has a healing, therapeutic lulling quality to it and there is just nothing like HOME COOKIN... This is IT for me! Thank you Miss Dokpe for your excellent work!
Well-balanced guide to West African food.......2004-04-13
Those of us who hanker after the authentic African taste we grew up with will be pleased with the recipes in the book. Although some of the recipes are labelled with slightly different names, and they may not be just as we knew them, the taste will take you back to good times of street food and full stomachs. The only better African cookbooks I know are "Wild Boar on the Kitchen Floor" and the "Crocodile Cookbook". I think they're both out of print.
This book is excellent. It is very easy to use.......1999-06-30
My cooking. The West African Cookbook is one of the few African Cookbook availlable on line. I was able to obtain one for myself after I saw one with my friend. I have since been using the book and it is amazing how easy it is to use the book. Perhaps the most amazing thing about this book is it authenticity. It is pure African. There are several ways to cook BLACK-EYED PEA and they are delicious. The Coconut rice and the Fried plantain are good together. This coming Xmas I am going to buy some for my friends as gifts. I think anyone who has a taste for African food should have a copy of this book.

There is information on the different needs of different breeds, advice on adopting from shelters, suggestions on urban etiquette for walking and cleaning up after your dog,and for what to do when meeting other dogs with their human companions.
Illustrated with pictures of dogs interacting with other dogs, people, and the city around them, City Dog is an invaluable guide for any city dweller who lives, or hopes to live, with a canine companion.
Customer Reviews:
Really Good Book.......2003-01-01
This is a neat book. It affirms the choice of having a dog in the city and dispels a lot of the "dogs are happier in the country" mythology.
It also tells you what to do to make your dog a good urban citizen, traits missing from so many of the dogs in our neighborhood -- aggressive, overbarking, impinging on the general peace and quiet. All of which backlash in overbearing city dog ordinances.
This is a good, comprehensive health and positive attitude book for city dog owners.
Selecting a dog which would be best suited.......2002-09-14
City Dog: Choosing And Living Well With A Dog In Town by animal expert Patricia Curtis is a very useful and highly recommended guide to selecting a dog which would be best suited to a particular living accommodation and lifestyle. City Dog is to be commended for its wealth of tips, tricks, and techniques for exercising one's pet in a city environment, adopting dogs from shelters, urban pet etiquette, and a great deal more, all presented in a "reader friendly" manual written especially for the non-specialist general reader in search of a suitable canine companion.
Book Description
A crenellated turret here, a winding, arched staircase there, maybe even a giant turtle-fairy tale ideas are at the heart of every sandcastle. Summer after summer, children and adults alike make valiant efforts to infuse their sandy structures with such inspiration, but the results are generally disappointing.

She provides the ultimate step-by-step guide to building impressive sandcastles, and shows that with a few simple tools and a basic understanding of sand, building dream castles can be easy. The book features instructions for each of the elements-base, staircase, roof, balcony, and more-that can be combined to fashion one-of-a-kind castles. Also included are two projects designed specifically for younger children. Like a shovel and pail, Sandcastles Made Simple is an on-the-beach necessity. AUTHOR BIO: Lucinda Wierenga is a widely recognized sand sculptor who has won numerous international competitions. Her work has been featured in numerous publications and on a variety of television programs. Jamey Fountain is a professional photographer who lives in Massachusetts.

beach sandwiches.......2007-06-07
Try "Beach Lover's Guide to the Perfect Sandwich" This book would go great with Sandcastles Made Simple. After all you'll be working up quite an appetite making all those sandcastles.
detailed tips, photos, and tools.......2007-05-24
This book is so fun I can't stop reading it. The descriptions of techniques are excellent, and the illustrative photos are even better. I'd say it's the next best thing to taking a live lesson in sand sculpture! It's really going to enrich my weekends this summer. I recommend this book to anyone who is going to be spending any amount of time on any beach in the near future.
Great Book!.......2006-07-23
This book helped a lot! Very easy to understand. Had some great tips!
Great fun at the beach..............2005-08-31
On a recient trip to S. Padre Island my wife made arrangements with sandyfeet for a 1 hour private lesson for us and our 2 grandchildren, ages 10 and 12. It was the best one hour I have spent on the beach since I got married! When we returned home, we bought this book for ourselves and several for presents for others in our family. Quite simply, this is every thing you need to know about building sandcastles!! And the next 2 days we spent 3 hours as a family building the best castles we ever had. A must buy if you are at all interested in the subject.
Instructive and fun.......2005-07-09
One benefit to buying a book for a friend's birthday present is that you get to read the book before you wrap it for the party. This friend spends a week at a beach house every summer, so it seemed as though a build-a-sandcastle manual would be just the ticket. After looking through this book, I'm positive that I made the perfect purchase.
I haven't made any of the sandcastles personally (Arizona is a little low on beachfront), but the instructions and photos in this book make me yearn to do so. There are LOTS of pictures -- at least two on each page -- and the text gives plenty of advice about sand-sculpting methods, building, and carving. The section on the basics was particularly interesting; so *that*'s why my childhood attempts always fell over!
The author writes with a clear voice, and doesn't take herself too seriously. This is about having fun, after all. Even if you're as far from a beach as I am, this is an entertaining book to read!
Book Description
Imagine savoring the taste of your own homegrown tomato, fresh from the vine, in February! How about harvesting fresh organic salad greens year-round, or stepping into a blossom-laden tropical paradise on the coldest of winter days? Today, greenhouses and sunrooms are real living spaces where gardeners spend as much time with a book and a cup of coffee as they do with a watering can and a pair of pruning shoes. In this fully revised edition of a best-selling classic, veteran gardener Shane Smith embraces this new lifestyle approach to greenhouse gardening.
Customer Reviews:
The best book for experienced gardeners new to greenhouses.......2007-09-16
Actually the title says it all. I wish I had time to read lots of books
about greenhouse gardening but I don't. An experienced gardener, I'm new to greenhouse gardening and struck gold when I bought this book. It isn't dumbed down and is fast and fun to read.
The book doesn't begin at square one but does explain the important differences between gardening in an outside
garden and a greenhouse. One example; the reason fans are needed during the day (while photo synthesis is taking place) is to prevent a CO2 deficient envelope from surrounding the leaves. Also, explaination of
how to pollinate in an environment with no birds or insects is helpful.
Varieties of vegetables and flowers are discussed and why certain ones are
better suited. Trouble shooting and "when things go wrong" chapters are
good. Also, I learned more than I thought was possible about light and the different qualities of light plants need. Again, advice on when a
less expensive alternative will work was very welcome.
I'm so happy I bought this book BEFORE our greenhouse is complete because
the chapters on design and environment have given me a master plan for the space we have. Also, throughout the book are money saving ideas and
words of warning from experience. This author knows his subject inside out, is very good at communicating and doesn't use 100 words when 50 will do. Buy the book-you won't be disappointed!
Great Buy.......2007-09-10
I purchased this book on previous recommendations listed and am very pleased that I did. Great book for those just starting to think about using a greenhouse or for someone who needs a few extra tips. Well written with good descriptions.
M. Guenard.......2007-08-26
This book is an absolute MUST for any Northern gardener!
Before I start raving about the different indispensible topics covered in this book, I will also mention that in the spring of 2006 I also bought "Gardening in Your Greenhouse, by Mark Freeman".
I`ve waited a year - virtually two growing seasons - and I'm ready to give my review(s). This is my first and only review so far on this site.
A year ago this spring, I had just ordered my 6 ml. polyethylene steel frame greenhouse & I read Freeman's book first. I was so discouraged I almost cancelled the order. When you live in Northeastern Vermont, the climate is jokingly referred to as "10 months of winter & 2 months bad skiing" (zone 4/sometimes 3 depending on the year). The whole point of having a greenhouse is to extend the seasons but Freeman's view on this subject seems to be; "Don't bother! When it gets cold it gets cold and unless you want to spend a fortune, you'll just have to live with it."(Not a direct quote but that's the gist you get from his book).
"The Greenhouse Gardener's Companion" on the other hand gives you all the tools you need to beat back the elements and enjoy the fruits of your labor when everything outside that flimsy sheet of plastic has long since died.
Shane Smith goes into extensive detail on how to build "Thermal Mass" in your greenhouse - the natural, non-electric heat sinks that will keep your greenhouse warm; barrels of water, jugs of water, brick, stone, gravel, etc. He also tells you exactly how to calculate just how much water (or other materials) you'll need to keep your greenhouse above acceptable growing temperatures using the square footage and the thickness of the glazing and of course your growing zone. He also gives spectacular examples of his research; sub-zero conditions and the actual temperatures inside greenhouses using appropriate thermal mass; e.g. a solar greenhouse in Wyoming on a night with -30F temps. with a 15mph wind & the temp inside the greenhouse at 32F heated only by thermal mass.
In the summer there's the opposite problem - how to keep the greenhouse cool. Smith describes the science of airflow & how to calculate the size and position of your lower and upper air vents to naturally siphon the heat through the space and create a natural cooling system (without fans!).
Unfortunately, I had set up my greenhouse before I read Smith's book, or I would have done a lot of things differently (at that point I had only read Freeman's book and was working on dogged determination and not much else). If I had read the "Greenhouse Gardener's Companion" I would have also put insulation around my 3-foot deep gravel base for instance. I had installed 6 vents near the bottom, which didn't seem to do anything to disperse the heat - but once I put in new vents according to Smith's calculations, the greenhouse virtually cooled itself. I do run one household fan near the upper vent but today I forgot; the outside temperature was 85F & the greenhouse temperature was only 92F. Need I say more!
Smith's book also covers all the essentials of greenhouse gardening including the unique problems of pollinating in a closed space and recommends self-pollinating varieties & other tricks to get things growing robustly. One of the other reviewers has suggested that no one would actually read this cover to cover, well I did, and it was a worthwhile read.
But the proof is in the pudding isn't it? In my zone, planting frost tender plants isn't recommended until the first or second week of June, with frost still possible. Well, I had almost all my seedlings in flats in my greenhouse by late April (this being my first spring I held back a little - I did keep my frost tender seedlings inside). On the other end of the scale, last fall we had tomatoes from the greenhouse in late October, and salad greens in November. This year I've added more thermal mass so who knows?
My conclusion: if you're a gardener who wants to keep growing when the nay sayers say you can't - buy The Greenhouse Gardener's Companion.
A "Must Have" Book.......2007-05-07
We just built a Growing Dome and needed a few books on greenhouse growing. This is the first one we grab for answers. Shane Smith is so complete, and he can relate to the extremes in our Western weather, affecting the greenhouse. Love this book. A great purchase.
Start here for Help, greenhouse?.......2007-03-25
5 Stars, to me that means read on my friend. Depending on your level of skill, I have none, but the desire was there. Ok, I got the Greenhouse when I moved in 14x14 freestanding, baseboard heat and plumbed, the owner was dead and nothing was hooked up or working. What do I do with it. what was it worth, should I tear it down or restore it. No one wants someone elses, headache or was it soon to be my white elephant. I needed help! I fixed the automatic ventilation, but how do I decide whats next and what's not. This book came recommended for getting my head on straight and not looking to far and checking first things first. Hey was the right kind of light getting through the 30 yr old fiberglass? What if the thing is all wrong... This book eased my mind into the basics and still has plenty to offer. Good reading if your planning or have adopted as I did. I'd loan you mine, but of course I am keeping it. I think you could save time and money.

A terrific book.......2003-03-06
"That was terrific!" While not what you would expect to hear after a colonoscopy, these were the first words out of my husband's mouth as he woke up from this somewhat inconvenient procedure a few weeks ago, which he and I had postponed as long as possible. Howls of laughter burst forth from the nurses and others present in the recovery room. Nonetheless, the words revealed my husband's shock and delight that the dreaded procedure began and ended so imperceptibly and so painlessly.
"That was terrific!" would also be my assessment of this little book. While there is nothing sexy about the prospect of reading a book about cancer, my middle age, my weight, my family history, and personal medical history nearly demanded that I inform myself. The previous reviews for amazon.com have focused repeatedly on Dr. Adrouny's gift for making a boring, technical, and frightening subject accessible to the non-medical public through very readable text, references, and glossary, as well as lucid diagrams. I would echo all of those comments nearly verbatim. Anyone in the field knows that teaching science to non-science majors is more difficult than teaching it to those committed to the subject. You have to engage them first, and then inform them. Dr. Adrouny succeeds brilliantly in his chapters such as "Who Gets Colon Cancer and Why," "The `Look'...," "The `Feel'...," the stages, the prognosis, the treatment, prevention and future of colon cancer.
For me, however, Dr. Adrouny's greater gift is the art of gentle persuasion. He informs but does not preach. Who wants to go to the doctor and be ordered to go and lose 30 pounds? My husband was spurred to action by Dr. Adrouny, and now it's my turn. My colonoscopy is in two months. When will you sign up? (As he points out, there is usually a wait.) Read the book while you are waiting. Meantime, I am wondering if perhaps Dr. Adrouny's next book should be, "Understanding Extra Pounds."

Understanding of Colon Cancer in Plain English.......2003-01-27
Richard Adrouny, MD is a personal friend of mine but I am not a patient of his nor a physician nor do I have any medical training. However, I am approaching 60. I do get annual checkups and prostate exams and I do worry about cancer.
Understanding Colon Cancer is as good a book on a critical medical issue as any lay reader could ever hope to find. Dr. Adrouny writes very fully and specifically about colorectal cancer, its development, theories regarding its prevention, and current treatment interventions. What makes his writing so valuable to cancer patients and others of us without medical training is its accessibility. He continuously offers clear, direct and perfectly understandable explanations so that the interested reader can truly grasp the meaning of necessary medical terms and their significance. When he mentions sigmoidoscopy he explains that the procedure is an examination of the inner rectum and lower colon. When he refers to adenomatous polyps he specifies that a polyp is a growth from a mucous membrane and an adenoma is a benign growth from a glandular tissue. Continuously, he shares with us state of the art medical understanding in terms non-physicians can grasp. And in the course of treatment for a potentially life-threatening disease understanding is comfort.
Colorectal cancer screening as an annual event isn't a high priority for most men or women. When Dr. Adrouny explains that 15% of all cancers can be detected by a simple digital rectal examination, the momentary inconvenience of this act of diligence seems a small price to pay confirming our health status. Similarly, fecal occult blood testing, barium enema, and endoscopy all offer evaluations that could spare us suffering and save our lives.
While reading this book I wondered if Dr. Adrouny didn't perhaps edit his own writing by asking himself "So what?" every paragraph or so and then took the time to make clear the importance of his points to his general audience.
While reading this book, I could imagine a colon cancer patient returning home after seeing his own oncologist and grabbing for Dr. Adrouny's book by way of understanding his own physician comments.
An Excellent Guide for Those of Us Who Are Not Physicians.......2002-08-16
Adrouny does a great job explaining the ABC's of colon cancer.
This short--less than 150 pages--guide to colon cancer is accessible to those of us who are not physicians or familiar with healthcare terms. Adrouny patiently walks us through the basics of colon cancer: Who Gets Colon Cancer (men and women, too!); the look (signs) and feel (symptoms) of the disease; and the treatments and prevention.
This book is an absolute must for anyone who has colon cancer or anyone who is close to someone with the disease. The book also provides easy to read charts and drawings that I found very helpful.
A Clear Understanding of Colon Cancer.......2002-08-15
Dr. Adrouny is one of those rare physician/oncologists who is able to convert knowledge of his subject into words, phrases and thoughts that are fluid and understandable to the layman. Since colon cancer is the number two cause of cancer in the nation today, interest in the subject has heightened considerably and the book is a fast, yet comprehensive read for a wide audience. Having ordered and read the book before undergoing a routine colonoscopy I went into the procedure with a positive and informed outlook. Dr. Adrouny also analyzes the latest techniques in colon examinations including the merits of virtual colonscopies.

Excellent Source of Information about Colon Cancer.......2002-07-09
My father was recently diagnosed with Colon Cancer and I decided to purchase a book about the horrible disease. This book by A. Richard Adrouny MD, a new author of medical books, provided me with facts and a new understanding of what my father is going through. This book will make you much smarter about this disease no matter what knowledge you have. I strongly suggest you buy this book to further increase your knowledge of one of the most common forms of cancer in America.

Book Description
Nick Cave is the only artist to emerge from the post-punk era whose career can compare with legends such as Bob Dylan or Van Morrison, with a string of acclaimed albums including Junkyard, The Boatman's Call, and his most recent epic, Abattoir Blues / The Lyre of Orpheus.
Kicking Against The Pricks chronicles in depth these diverse personalities and the musical landscapes that Cave has inhabited, with a penetrating commentary on his themes and influences.
