History of one of the all time "Great American Inventors".......2001-02-06
This is the story of Elmer Sperry, inventor and engineer, who created the company which eventually included such famous names as Sperry Gyroscope, Sperry New Holland, Sperry Vickers, Sperry Marine, Remington and Sperry Rand and the technologically advanced makers of the first commercial computer, Sperry Univac.
For students interested in the historical backgrounds of some of the most influential hi tech companies of the 50s to the late 80's then this book is almost required reading.
Elmer Sperry was a quiet, understated and insightful genius and inventor whose influence has been felt by all who passed through the Univac school with their eyes wide open.
Regards,
Martyn R Jones
Book Description
Based on 40 years of research and the experience of hundreds of patients, this title offers the first effective protocol for reversing the auto-immune disorder fibromyalgia. The program treats the cause of the disease, not the symptoms, by using guiafenesin, a well-known over-the-counter medication. Guaifenesin has successfully treated 90% of the authors cases without side effects.
Download Description
Fibromyalgia is a painful disorder for which mainstream medicine has no solution other than heavy, and often ineffective, use of painkillers, along with lifestyle changes. It affects 20 million Americans, with high rates of occurrence in women. Related to rheumatoid arthritis, it too is an autoimmune disorder involving muscular pain, fatigue, insomnia, headaches, and depression. 'What Your Doctor May Not Tell You About Fibromyalgia' is the first book to offer a treatment program combining diet and exercise recommendations with the use of guaifenesin, a well-known medication available over the counter. A common ingredient in cough medicine, guaifenesin is so safe it is one of the few drugs in the Physicians' Desk Reference (PDR) with no known side effects listed. Dr. St. Amand was inspired by his own fibromyalgia to research available treatments, and he developed this revolutionary program as a result. Over 4 decades of his research culminate in this program--which treats the causes of the condition, not just the symptoms. It has successfully eliminated symptoms in 80 percent of his patients' cases. Dr. St. Amand has discovered how to put fibromyalgia into remission so patients can return to their normal lives, and shares the secret for the first time in this book.
Customer Reviews:
The best!.......2007-09-10
I go to the doctor who wrote this book for my Fibromyalgia, and I truly believe that there is no other treatment known or practiced right now that actually treats this disease; so how awesome is it that I have found the world's leading authority on Fibromyalgia who has written a comprehensive book and who I can go to for treatment! Read this book! whether you have Fibromyalgia or know someone who does, this will give you an incredible amount of information on everything from what the disease is and how it affects the body, to how to do the protocol and find support and help! I am 31 now and would probably be bed ridden hadn't I found out about the guaifenesin protocol that's written about in this book, and that I myself am on. It's true that it's not easy, especially in the beginning, but truthfully the alternative is horribly worse. Fibromyalgia will not get better or go away on it's own, baring a miracle, it continues to get worse over time, so if you have it and don't do something to treat it, you will get worse and worse until you will probably not be able to function whatsoever. Dr. St. Amand is currently doing a study on Fibromyalgia at the City of Hope in Duarte, California, which is a leading authority on cancer and other health issues. People come from all over the world to get treatment at City of Hope, and people also come from all over the world to see Dr. St. Amand. I am excited to see what the outcome of the study is and hope that the good doctor can help all of us with Fibromyalgia even more! Dr. St. Amand and his co-author Claudia are two of the most selfless and caring people; they have dedicated their lives to helping those with Fibromyalgia, and they both have Fibromyalgia themselves so they know first hand all about this disease! This is a must read and a must do protocol for anyone suffering with Fibromyalgia, it works! I am living proof of it, and thankful beyond words that I have hope of reversing this disease completely and getting a more active and healthy life again! You can do it too, and you are not alone, people all over the U.S. and the world are doing this guaifenesin protocol and reversing the disease and getting back to life!
My wife cried as she read this book.......2007-06-16
Finally she wasn't alone. She wasn't crazy. It's a real disease.
The protocol is sound, and it works. It all depends on an over-the-counter medication most of us have used at one time or another and avoiding some topical ingrediants found in lotions, makeup, etc. It's not hard to do. As the body begins to heal, it does cause bad days. Everyone responds differently, but in the end my wife has gone from being almost incapacitated to having more good days than bad. Not bad for a $10 book and some medication we can buy for maybe $15/month. (I checked prices here, and they're much higher--sorry, Amazon.)
You can't go wrong with this book. If you try it and nothing happens, try something else. Maybe you have a different condition. If you try it and the next day you feel like you were hit by a truck, believe it or not, you're on the way to much better days. But don't do it alone. Go to the web site in the book and join the online support group. Ask questions. They'll be happy to help you through it.
This book can change your life.......2007-06-08
My husband led me to this book five years ago. I studied the book and on-line support group plus website and began the protocol. My fibromyalgia has reversed to its level of about 25 years ago and my life is so much better. If you decide to do this you must do it exactly but if you do you can regain the life you once knew. I highly recommend this book.
This book saved my mother .......2007-03-28
I bought this book for a friend who was recently diagnosed with FM. Almost 3 years ago, I bought this same book for my mother and she praises it everyday since. Fibro had taken over her life: she couldn't walk the mall, crochet any blankets or booties, or even pick-up her grandchildren for big hugs. My mother was only 52 years old at the time and her body made her act like she was 82 years old. One week after reading the book and starting the guai-protocol, she already felt better. The pain was passing with each and every day. Some weeks, she would "cycle", just like the book said, but she was crocheting again and enjoying her grandchildren.......she even chased my 1 year old around. This book literally saved her life. I recommend reading it to anyone who feels like fibro has punched them in the stomach.
I'm anxious for my dear friend to read and start this protocol, so she can regain her life as well.
Lifesaver.......2006-10-30
I wish I had known about this years ago. This book gives hope for reversal of the disease! Read it and teach your doctor, who probably has never heard of this.

Traditional recipes are included as they exist today-adapted over generations and attuned to the modern kitchen. The volume is decidedly contemporary, with a clean, graphic treatment throughout and stunning four-color photography that focuses on authentic regional cooking.

Complete menu ideas, affordable, short and sweet to make!.......2007-01-25
This book is something you will not regret buying. I use it on a weekly basis and it contains complete menu ideas, not just the main dish ones. Most recipes are very easy to make, take little time and preparation and are simply delicious. I have tried many of its recipes and there were no disappointment ever. Ingredients are usually easy to find and I must admit, I am not a chef whatsoever but now, my husband and guests think I can cook. Thank you Williams-Sonoma. Only warning: After getting one Williams-Sonoma cookbook, you'll want more. They look great in the kitchen and they are almost all worth buying. If you have to buy only one: this one would be it! LOTS of recipes!

But the traditional favorites are also here, such as the incomparable Italian dishes of the North End, Boston baked beans from Union Oyster House, and Todd English’s take on the lobster roll, among others. The recipes have been customized for home cooks, in chapters organized by appetizers, soups, salads, pasta, seafood, poultry, meat and vegetarian entrees, side dishes, desserts, and a whole chapter on brunch, as served by the Boston Park Plaza and the Four Seasons, among other venerable locales. Too basic.......2003-08-14
This book has a great deal of misinformation. Some of popular bird species have been omitted. Definitely a book that may steer a beginner in the wrong direction.
Not Very Good.......2003-08-13
This book is full of misinformation. I would not even recommend it for a beginner.

Knitted Teddy Bears.......2007-05-13
Thanks so much for your quick shipment of this book. All 25 designs for these bears are so adorable. Debbie Bliss has a real winner with this book!!
takes some thought.......2007-01-17
I agree that the pictures and designs in this book are very cute and appealing. I also agree however that the designer could clarify the patterns a bit. It would help if the patterns included row numbers or stitch counts. But for the most part, the instructions are easy enough to follow. I would not recommend it for novices, but someone with a bit of experience should not have trouble...just read ahead a bit and keep track of your rows yourself on a separate piece of paper
Very nice toy book.......2006-12-19
I really like this book, actually. I only made one teddy bear (the one in the bunny suit), but the directions were quite clear, and I had no trouble with it. And the bear came out very cute, I thought! Just like the picture.
There are lots of adorable teddies. The best part about them is the detailed wardrobes most of them wear. Alot of the clothes are also interchangeable, so you can knit one teddy bear with several outfits -- a great gift for a little kid! The outfits are mostly old-fashined-looking, and quite charming. There are also a couple of decorative teddies with flowers embroidered on them. I'm not crazy about those, myself, but someone else might be.
I also like the way this book is organized -- the pictures of all the bears are on the first pages of the book, followed by the actual directions for making them in the later section. Each picture is referenced with the page number the directions are on.
The thing to look out for in this book is, the pieces are very fiddly. The author has you casting off and on all in the same piece. Of course, as a result, there is LOTS of seaming. I think there are easier ways to achieve the same shaping. Some of the pieces seem weird, but it wasn't too difficult to figure out how they were supposed to fit together.
Overall, a very nice toy knitting book.
too cute.......2006-03-10
I am giving this four stars because I haven't made any of the bears yet. However the pictures are too cute for words and I can't wait to make one. I rarely have problems with Debbie Bliss patterns and do not anticipate problems with these.
not much variety.......2005-08-28
The instructions are clear enough, however I was hoping for more size varieties, 4" - 20". I am still looking for a tiny knitted bear pattern.
I also deducted points for the author's insistance on one yarn, which not everyone has ability to obtain. I think an improvemnet would be using generic terms for yarns, baby weight, sport weight, 4 ply, that sort of thing.
I hope that these tiny complaints will not stop others from trying this author's patterns. The one I am doing now is going together well and it is very very easy to do.

Book Description
Martin Waddell and Jill Barton team up for a ducky celebration of springtime, family, and miraculous new arrivals.
"Did you come in an egg?" Duckling gasped.
"All ducks do," Grandpa said.
Mommy Duck has laid a pale blue egg among the rushes, and soon it will be quacking time at the lake. Duckling has never seen a duck egg before and finds it very hard to believe that a baby duck could fit inside. But now all the family is gathering—Auntie and Cousin and Grandpa—and the excitement is high as they wait for a tap-tap-tap and a CRACK! and, finally, a tiny beak and a head poking out. Little listeners will be more than eager to join in their final chorus: "Quack-quack! Quack-quack-quack!"
Customer Reviews:
So cute!.......2007-01-19
We found this book in the library right before our second child was born. It was perfect to introduce our daughter positively to having a second little one in the family. But we loved the book for itself as well. The illustrations are adorable, they endorse the text perfectly. The book is great for animated reading and when we get to the page where "it is quacking time" we all quack like crazy. Wonderful!
Fun book!.......2007-01-12
This is a great book for any child expecting a sibling. My son loved (and still loves) reading this book before we had our second child. Now, we give it as a gift for families with a new baby coming. Also, the pages are nice and thick for a non-board book, making them less easy for little hands to tear.
Great if you're expecting a new sibling.......2005-12-01
This book is a great introduction to talk about a new addition to your family. My daughter and I read this book constantly while I was pregnant. Even though ducks come from eggs, Ducklings questions and statements very much resemble things my daughter said about my pregnancy. The drawings are cute and the story is easy for even a 2 year old to follow.
A funny tale of a young duck's discoveries.......2005-04-11
Jill Barton's zany and comical story, It's Quacking Time!, tells of a young duck who sees his mother lay an egg and discovers the magic of egg origins. Everyone who views the egg receives a lesson in life in Waddell's funny tale of a young duck's discoveries.

Customer Reviews:
Inspiring and fun to read.......2005-12-01
I read this book for a oral book report but found it so inspiring and a very good book. Yoshiko is a girl who doesn't want to be who she is and says her face betrays her. When Pearl Harbor is attacked Yoshiko and her family are sent to a concentration camp just because they looked like the enemy. Yoshiko wasn't even born in Japan she was born in the USA. A very good book!
Valuable life lessons.......2002-07-29
Because this is an autobiography, the reader should not expect a commercialized plot that is conjured just for effect. In its place, we get a true story of an American girl and her family who are trapped in the beaurocracy of war. Yoshi, her sister and her parents are imprisoned in Japanese internment camps during World War II and she describes the injustice, embarassment and blatant racism her family and over 120,000 West Coast Japanese Americans endure. The story evokes emotions concerning issues such as human rights vs. national security and ethnicity vs. patiriotism. Uchida writes in candid clear language with vivid decriptions that manage to convey the complex issues surrounding racism without being didactic.
Autobiography written for children.......2000-05-26
Yoshiko Uchida writes of her childhood, growing up in California as a Japanese American during World War II. She vividly describes her internment experience through the eyes of a young adult. This is an important book because it documents the Japanese American experience. It also reveals the strong Christian faith of this family. The story rings of truth and how an "average" person deals with adversity. This book only rates three stars because although the story is interesting, the plot was predictable. I was not left with a breathtaking feeling after reading this book. My favorite books leave me thinking about them for days or even weeks afterwards.
