Book Description
ÂIn All Aboard, Jim Godbold takes the reader on a unique and fascinating journey: ItÂ's an excursion that starts in an era when money was scarce and the virtues of hard work and perseverance were necessities, not mere suggestions.
In contrast to todayÂ's gotta-have-it-now, itÂ's-never-enough world of materialism and instant gratification, Jim offers us an enlightening and frequently humorous glimpse of a time when oneÂ's daily bread was not a foregone conclusion. From his first job as an enterprising newspaper carrier to his incredible experiences in World War II combat in the Pacific to his entrepreneurial ventures in newspaper publishing and photography, he tells a compelling and inspiring story of resourcefulness, creativity and determination. Along the way he richly affirms the incalculable value of family and friends.
Even though I have known and loved my friend Jim for many years, it was a thrill to read Â`the story behind his storyÂ', discovering the events and people who helped to shape the man who realized his own American dream.Â

Lifestory of an exotic animal breeder.......1998-05-09
This book chronicles Robert Baudy's entire life and experiences in the animal business. While it lingered a bit too long on his war experiences early in the book, it was very informative and provided an in depth look at life in a different country and era. It was very interesting to read about how he got started in the animal business and how it changed his life. This book does not provide any animal training tips or much on animal behavior but is still a good read.

It would be a pity if this interesting, humane, and practical book were read only by parents of recently bereaved children--for two reasons. First, the book is about grief in a broad sense. Its lessons apply not only to the child whose pet, aunt, or parent has died, but also to the child whose parents have divorced, who has suffered a debilitating injury, or who has experienced other forms of traumatic loss. Second, let's face it: every child will suffer a loss at some point, so it behooves parents to be prepared in advance. As the authors say, "our task as parents is to prepare our children to deal with the experiences they will have."
It's unfortunate that the book has what might be considered a common structural flaw in self-help books. All of Part I (about 50 pages) is devoted to examining various myths about grieving and mistakes in dealing with it--for example, that the griever should keep busy and try not to feel bad. This is "good advice about bad advice," but it leaves the reader wondering why the authors didn't choose to get on with the plain old "good advice" on page 1. By Part II, it's already clear which coping techniques the authors will recommend. It would have been better to start there. --Richard Farr
Book Description
To watch a child grieve and not know what to do is a profoundly difficult experience for parents, teachers, and caregivers. Yet, there are guidelines for helping children develop a lifelong, healthy response to loss.
In When Children Grieve, the authors offer a cutting-edge volume to free children from the false idea of "not feeling bad" and to empower them with positive, effective methods of dealing with loss.
There are many life experiences that can produce feelings of grief in a child, from the death of a relative or a divorce in the family to more everyday experiences such as moving to a new neighborhood or losing a prized possession. No matter the reason or degree of severity, if a child you love is grieving, the guidelines examined in this thoughtful book can make a difference.
Customer Reviews:
excellent book.......2007-08-01
The book is readable, practical and filled with useful information. It would be helpful to both parents and professionals.
Everyone needs this book!.......2007-05-28
"When Children Grieve" is a book every person should read. It explains just how significantly we are impacted by almost evey loss we experience.
Each and every one of us will experience loss in our lives. Most of us don't realize the impact those losses have on our future lives and the decisions we make when we have not gone through the grieving process. We need to ackowledge the changes that a loss brings to our lives.
This book thoughfully explains what grieving is and how to recognize it in your life.
I highly recommend it for everyone as a teaching resource for lifes lessons.
A must read for any one going through a loss of any kind.......2007-04-03
This is a great book for anyone who has been through a move, divorce, pet loss, or loss of a loved one. It gives great solutions for resolve. Even if it has been years since your loss. Even though the title implies it is to help your children you can learn alot about yourself as well.
A Must Read for All Parents.......2004-01-14
This book should be required for all parents. If you want to understand the basics of human and/or child behavior, this book is a must read. The book succinctly and lovingly explains the concept of "loss" and the emotional and physical responses to it-what we would normally call grief.
The beauty of this book is that grief is placed in a larger context. In other words, according to the authors, grief is the response when experiencing a "massive change or end from everything familiar." Therefore, children, and adults, can grieve a variety of situations: loss of a pet, moving to another neighborhood, or changing schools.
Therein rests the beauty of this book. This book explains how to help children. More importantly, the adults who are required to provide the assistance will learn more about their children and themselves.
So highly recommended, there are not enough stars to express this book's importance.
Written With Gentle, Healing Hands.......2003-05-24
I am a conservative, grumpy, old, Lutheran pastor, vehemently opposed to all things "New Age." I despise the fads of pop-psychology. "Touchy-Feely" advice from so-called experts, who demand exorbitant fees, often makes me want to wretch. So, I approached this book filled with trepidation.
There was no need for my concerned.
Writing with extraordinary gentleness and common sense Mr. James, Mr. Friedman and Dr. Matthews have provided adults with an invaluable outline on how to shepherd the children in their lives through loss, grief and recovery. Every parent, grandparent, teacher, pastor, priest, rabbi, nurse or physician who expects the children in their lives to suffer the death of a pet, suffer the death of a relative, move or endure a divorce will benefit from reading this book.
Do yourself a favor. Read this book for the sake of the children whom you love. It is well worth the investment of your time.
Then, do yourself a second favor, and place a copy of this book in your church, synagogue or public library for the others who will grow by reading it.

south african gem........2003-10-11
Lehla eldridge's 'The South African Illustrated Cookbook' is a slim paperback volume that a friend sent me as a gift.
It nestles modestly between Delia Smith and Jamie Oliver on my kitchen shelf, those two enormous volumes (so difficult to read in bed) are not consulted as often or as lovingly.
I love South African food, the warmth of the colours of it, the melting sunshine taste of it in the mouth, and this book captures perfectly the bright informality of the African table.
Beautifully and humorously illustrated with watercolour impressions of people, markets, dogs and dishes, this is a must for anyone who enjoys the complete cooking experience from the first word of a carefully collected recipe to the last mouthful with friends and wine.
And you can read it in bed. Lehla Eldridge has produced a gem.
ORIGIONAL AND UNIQUE.......2003-06-14
This cookbook does what many others have been unable or unwilling to do. It takes the reader on a senstive journey through South Africas beautiful people and the cuisine in a delightful pictorial way. Lehla is a great artist and a great chef. Lets hope she does many more books

Good Introduction to Pottery.......2000-08-16
This is a good book to use as an introduction to pottery - great for teachers. "Simply Pottery" is arranged in a series of fairly simple projects presented in a step-by-step fashion with lots of pictures. It is particularly suited to those who are interested in handbuilt work, although it does cover some wheel thrown projects as well. Those with a little experience with pottery will get some good ideas, but you may get more out of Kathy Triplett's "Handbuilt Ceramics" or Don Davis' "Wheel-Thrown Ceramics". Happy potting!

Hello I checked this book out at my hometown's library. I loved it. That is why I am ordering it. I am getting my degree in college in Pottery, and this is the best book that I have read in pottery. It is simple and the pictures are excellent. I have bought several books on pottery, this is one of the top five. I am going to reccomend it to all my fellow potters.

Mexican Garden.......2007-07-06
I chose this book to help give me some ideas as to how to " Mexicanise " my garden.
So what with the yuccas, agaves & cacti i'm well on the way, just need to add more colour & fragrance to it.
I also bought Mexicasa and Mexicolor.
It's a nice book..........2007-06-13
Your basic coffee table book, nice photos of exactly what the book claims to be: Courtyards, Pools, and Open-Air Rooms. A lot of the subject matter is authentic, old and sometimes dilapidated. Don't expect to see many pictures of new or well kept patios, pools or gardens. This is the real McCoy, just like you'll see when visitng Old Mexico...not that there'e anything wrong with that.

There are countless books about lifestyles that are inaccessible, either because they are engulfed by abstract ideas or are set in palaces, real or imagined. The Outdoor Living Room: Stylish Ideas for Porches, Patios, and Pools is a rare exception: gorgeous photographs of beautiful outdoor spaces that are accessible, or at least seem to be. Split up into sections that can appeal to anyone-"Modern," "Classic," "In Town," "Romantic," or "Whimsical"--this book can move even the most hardened city dweller, or bring dreamers out of their country homes. The book has a distinct magazine-like flavor, but the rigor of the photographic summation of elements in each section offsets this. The text is uninspiring, usually describing the photographs or making vague generalizations, but no matter, because the photographs are what this book is all about. They are beautiful and plentiful, whetting the appetite for sunny days in our own "outdoor living rooms." --Juliette Cezzar
Book Description
In the summer months and year-round in warmer climates, Americans love spending time outdoors. More and more, people are treating the outdoor spaces on their properties as true extensions of their homes, turning porches, pools, patios, decks, and gardens into outdoor living spaces that serve the same functions as indoor rooms.
In The Outdoor Living Room:
Stylish Ideas for Porches, Patios, and Pools, acclaimed author Martha Baker offers more than forty-five striking examples of this enlightened approach to outdoor decorating.
The Outdoor Living Room is divided into six chapters, each representing a specific type of outdoor style: Classic, Rustic, Romantic, Modern, Whimsical, and In Town. Six or seven different locations are featured in every chapter, each contributing a different idea or novel aspect of the same style. A multipaged “Components” section appears at the end of each chapter focusing on important elements of outdoor decorating, such as paving and lighting, followed by a heavily illustrated “Ideas” spread with tips on achieving a particular look. None of the magnificent spaces in this book has ever been published before; they range from a Southeast Asian–inspired tropical garden in Florida to a Japanese tea garden atop a New York City roof, from a grand wraparound porch on a classic home facing Lake Michigan to a thoroughly modern all-white patio near Miami.
The Outdoor Living Room also includes an extensive resource section, illustrating and describing garden furniture, architectural and landscape elements, and decorative items. Packed with more than 350 full-color photographs,
The Outdoor Living Room is at once a practical sourcebook and an inspirational delight.

Customer Reviews:
Master Built Pools and Patios.......2007-06-28
If I could have viewed some pages of this book it may have inspired me to purchase it. It is quite an expensive book foo the topic and without a chance to look first, I think you may lose some buyers.
Lack of information.......2006-01-22
I would think if you were going to provide a book and list the pool companies you would also list the material contractors and possibly the artisans.
I installed the materials on one of the North Carolina pools. The pool contractor likely had no idea where the materials came from and initially provided substandard labor. Hardly qualifying for a master pool rating.
The materials used were economical and high quality -the impression is that these are out of common reach installations. Hardly the case. Excellent pictoral representation of the projects however.
Beautiful Book.......2005-09-07
This really is a beautifully inspiring book. While many of the products in the book are out of reach for the individual with an average income, it offers some great ideas that you can incorporate into something that is a little more within your reach. The details are very nice and descriptive. It will also serve well as a nice coffee table book.
Customer Reviews:
Inspiring, but..........2006-05-21
Perhaps I just misunderstood. But this book just wasn't what I thought it was.
I was really excited when I ordered this book. I just couldn't wait to get my hands on it. I wanted to see how things were done, what materials I'd have to buy (and hopefully where I could find them) and generally find out how to make this magic happend...
But no such luck.
I actually don't quite understand this book - and it really doesn't contain any text to misunderstand. It does contain a lot of nice pictures (and I mean a lot), even though some of the ideas displayed should perhaps rather have been made of plastic and varnish, glue and gypsum for people out of this world (really, some of the things displayed are really really ugly!). Some of the ideas don't have anything to do with anything real. These are glossy patios suitable for I don't know whom. But perhaps that really doesn't matter - at least if the book is just intended to be a good idea bank for different groups of people. But I found no warning signs on Amazon.
I don't like to slaughter things, but then again I never review things as I'm doing now without having a very strong point in either direction, i.e. positive or negative... Sadly, this book had a negative impact on me, period!
You make the math:
The book has no functionality (other than ideas) for the DIY person.
The book is in fact just a big "Ikea brochure" - a lot of pictures, but little or no text.
Which brings me to the last point: The little text that actually is to be found is often wrong (typical copy-and-paste (or find-and-replace) Word failures) like "Courtesy of Courtesy of Action Concrete Services". For any serious publisher, one failure as this one should have been enough, but this particular blunder can be found evenly distributed over the entire book! Sorry, I just can't live with that, especially since the book is in fact nothing else than what Google would have given me with a few keystrokes.
So: If you don't have Google, buy this book! That's my advice. Or, if you do have Google but want a glossy paper book with a lot of pictures in it, you might still want to buy it. Just don't expect any help with anything other than how to contact a contractor.

Product Description
Someone raped California university professor Rashawn Ams a little more than a year ago. She thinks she knows who it was, but then he is killed. Left pregnant and refusing to report the attack to the police, Rashawn finds herself confused about what she should do next. So she does the only thing she thinks she can do: she hides the rape from her friends and family, and flees town to give birth to her son and repair her life after confiding in one person, her psychiatrist, Allen Roman. Eighteen months later, she returns to the university, only to find herself immediately the target of an intrusive secret admirer, bringing back frightening memories of the attack. Could this person have more than just a crush? What if this is more than a coincidence? Could she have been wrong about the identity of her rapist? What does this mean about the paternity of her son? Chance Davis has had feelings for Rashawn for a long time. Now that she's back at the university, he figures no better time than the present to make them known, however, when a student he is mentoring is raped and murdered, Chance's alibi puts his `chances' with Rashawn in a precarious place when his unbridled sexual escapades with his ex-wife are revealed. Doctor Allen Roman, the university psychiatrist, is a powerful and influential man on campus. Nothing rattles him, that is, except for Rashawn Ams. She is the only woman alive who can shake up Dr. Roman. In fact, Rashawn could have been just the woman for him, if it weren't for a family secret—a dark secret that could kill her if she were to figure it out. He is a drug addict, addicted to a painkiller, a drug created in the West Indies that has made its way onto the campus. Blain Tollome is a campus cop, an obnoxious nuisance of a man whose immature ways label him a troublemaker. His massive size intimidates many who cross his path. Many see him as a bully and brut. However, if they would just look deeper, perhaps they would see the real man inside. That's all he's asking of Rashawn—to see beyond the surface to the man he truly is inside. But is it all really that simple? What do these three men have in common? Lust, greed, and an obsessive appetite for one woman. The problem is one of these men is a killer.
Customer Reviews:
Interesting Twist of Events.......2007-09-14
This is the first book I've read by this author. I was intrigued by McGriff's writing style, which is not indicative of today's "quite typical" fiction books. The plot kept you reading because you just had to know how everything was going to turn out. With an ending that leaves you wondering "what's more to come?", Obsession 101 is a great read for those seeking something different from the norm!
why can't some people let go.......2007-08-07
This book was great from begining to the end. I was able to pick out the crazy by the middle of the story but that didn't damage the plot.
UrbanWritten.net .......2007-07-12
I simply loved this book, Rashawn Ams character pulled me in. I thought the story was very suspenseful. I was really surprised by the ending, but on and poppin. Michelle MdGriffhas great style.
Fascination read.......2007-05-22
This book, which is a continuation of Michelle McGriff's prior book For Love's Sake, is a fascinating read. It keeps you on edge the entire book and be prepared for many surprises and twists and turns. It has an air of the realistic. I found this book thrilling.
Obsessed Personalities .......2007-03-25
Finally coming to grips with the attack and rape that happened over three years ago, Rashawn is finally ready to come back to the place she calls home. Returning to her old job, friends and family have been a lot to deal with. She is sure that her nightmare is far behind, even though she looks into the eyes of her attacker's gift every day in her son, Reggie.
With an epidemic of the date rape drug, Get A--, people are coming up missing and dead and Rashawn is reliving the torment all over again. Waking up in awkward situations and feeling violated, Rashawn knows that something deadly is awaiting her. Will she have a second chance to put her attacker to rest, or will history repeat itself?
What I liked about Obsession 101 was that this was not a typical story that I have read before. It had laughter, mystery, romance and a little street all in one. If you are an avid reader, you know what I am talking about. The problem that I had with Obsession, however, was with the main character, Rashawn. She was an airhead. It took her way too long to figure out who her attacker was. She trusted any and everybody and the only protection she had was never in her vicinity. Nevertheless, I am looking forward to more work from Michelle McGriff.

Soul Mate.......2006-02-14
Angela Weaver writes a story that makes any single women wonder if her prince charming will show up dressed in all black with a Glock 45 tucked safely on his back. The story tells of a young woman who's on the run from her fiancé after seeing something so deadly that she wasn't sure she could trust herself but when her father comes to her rescue she isn't sure what she should have done and what needs to be done. When the bodyguard of her father's choice steps in all hell will break loose before a resemblance of love falls into place.
Gabriella isn't interested in everyone running her life especially the men who have managed to make their selves her protector so when she finds herself with a bodyguard who's too handsome for words she does everything she knows to keep her cool but when the heat gets turned up and mutual attraction is noticed there is nothing that can be done to turn down the fan fare. Darius knew that mixing business with pleasure wasn't cool but there was very little he could do to not fall for Gabriella so when he finds himself falling deeply he does what he knows best confronts it but it only leads to things getting heated even worse than before. When the reason for Darius being in Gabriella's life starts to unbear itself the two of them find their selves on the run and also find their selves denying their unforgiving love for one another but will time give them their change or will vengeance find them first.
Angela writes the tale showing a woman letting go of her fear of everyone wanting control of her life and a man with a mission to not fall in love but only to have the complete opposite when it all happens but like the saying says opposites attract.
Love is Blind.......2005-10-22

Gabriella Marie, was a professional flautist, lived abroad with her fiancé when she discovered that he was not the man that she thought him to be. This discovery took place as she watched her fiancés brother torture and murder two men, while her loving fiancé stood there watching. After witnessing such a heinous crime, Gabriella fled in fear of her life to a father that she had not spoken to in years.
Darius Yassoud, a military Special Forces operative, agrees to help his uncle honor a request from a dear friend Sebastian, with whom he credits for his start in business. This favor included as bodyguard for Sebastian's daughter and protecting her from the fiancé that she is fleeing. This elaborate protection scheme lands them in New York, living undercover with the best surveillance and resources that money can buy. The only thing is that the fiancé and his brother will go to any lengths to locate Gabriella. The fiancé wants her back and his brother wants her dead. Out of a need for safety and for Darius' need to keep her safe, they both act on the strong attraction for one another and it eventually turns into love.
I found in reading this novel that it started slowly, However, once it picked up, it really took off. It provided the reader with the basics one looks for in a romance novel; which is romance. In the same token, it provided intrigue and suspense. Ms. Weaver does quite well at weaving this story and before you know it, you've been absorbed into the tale.

Blind Obsession.......2005-08-13
Gabriella Marie is a beautiful concert flutist with the perfect life until she witnesses her fiancé commit murder. For her own protection, she is forced to return to New York to a father she despises and into the custody of Darius Yassoud, a Special Forces Agent hired to protect her.
For Darius, family is everything. When his uncle asks him to serve as bodyguard to the daughter of an old friend, he reluctantly agrees. From the moment Darius laid eyes on Gabriella, he was captivated by her beauty. It isn't long before Darius discovers that his feelings for Gabriella run deeper than that of her bodyguard. Since he never mixes business with pleasure, Darius vows not to act upon his feelings. As the days grow shorter and the nights grow longer, the passion between Darius and Gabriella grows stronger. As danger lurks closer, will Darius be able to protect Gabriella and hide his true feelings for her?
Angela Weaver has written a book that perfectly mixes suspense with passion. BLIND OBESSION is a page-turner that will hold the reader's interest until the very end.

A marvelously-written, senssive book about a fascinatng man........1999-06-16
Carl Akeley was a true pioneer in so many fields that it must have been difficult for Bodry-Sanders to decide which to emphasize. She has managed to combine the stories of his youth, his innovative taxidermy, his adventures in Africa, and his concern for the wild animals he loved, into an immensely readable book, that engages the reader from start to finish. Even though the author has been more than thorough in her research (she actually travelled to Africa to experience what Akeley did), she makes you want to know more. This is a fine book, by a fine writer.
Excellent Akeley book!.......1999-05-09
This is the best account of Carl Akeley and his accomplishments that I have ever read.

Flyy Girls #1 Fan................2005-05-31
oMg .....wHere Do i sTarT? Flyy girl is one of the greatest books written for teens if not the greatest.I first read the book in the 7th grade and im still taking about it and now im in high school! This girl Tracy has it going on. ....She dont pLaY! I fell in love w/ her character when i read the first page. This book should be required reading for every teenager in the world. Reading Tracy's story is like looking into a life style that you would die for.Omar Tyree did it up so big with this book. They should make it into a movie. And if they did i would have to be the person to play Tracy. There is so much i could say about this book but i dont think there are words invented to express how good this book is. SO im gonna leave it up to you to read it and you can find the right words.
Flyy Girl.......2004-05-04
Flyy Girl was off the chain.. I've lived that lifestyle and I enjoy it.. The money, the clothes, the cars (no drugs f0r me) and most incrediblely......the constant (safe) Sex...NEver Sold my Body never cheated on my boy friends, it is just amazing...and to see my life be written in a story (except for the odd reform part) it was incredible.. i love Omar Tyree. He put so many of our lives in printbut the best part of it all had to have been the deja vu sex scenes...but the rest was good too.
Still excellent.......2004-02-11
I read this book when i was in the 6th grade and i fell in love with itI am now in college and my opinion hasent changed. This is a great book for any collector!!! GirlS its a MUST have The SEX and the violence. the book is incredible!
Good Books.......2004-01-11
what can i say, i started this book and thought it would be boring. But then i kept on reading and reading and reading, finally i was stuck in the book. Mercedes reminds me of myself now at the age of 16. Tracy is me when i was yournger the same things she did what she was younger i did too!!! I am the type of peson that dosn't like to read books, but when i read this i wanted more. Now that i have read 2 of Omar Tyree's books, i know i am going to keep on reading. I know when i have children one day i am going to get them all his books so they can read them. This books teaches you lessons not to be dumb and try to grow up to fast. I am only 16 but i feel that this book taught me alot. i think this book should be on every teen girls bookshelf. I know it's on mine :-)
Flyy Girl.......2003-11-02
I also read the book Flyy Girl when I wasn't supposed to because my sister thought it would be to grown for me to read but I read it anyway. It just about a tennage girl growing up in Philly and going threw changes in life and I think that most of us do the same things that Tracy did, but someone just decided to write it in a form of a book
