Book Description
As far back as she could remember Anna Veneziano felt misplaced, "As if I had slipped into the wrong womb at the wrong time." The daughter of a Baptist minister in a predominantly Catholic country Anna retraces her memories of an Italian girl born under Mussolini's regime, trapped by fears grown out of religious beliefs and the dangers of war. Her experiences come to life one stitch at a time wrapped with a strong sense of place, history, mysticism, folklore, laughter, and tears. After the war, her journey to America brings her to find in her own life the truth which only the story can reveal.
Customer Reviews:
A real American story.......2002-02-08
Anna's story represents so many who immigrated to America. This isn't only Anna's story but in a sense the story of America and how we are home to so many from different countries. Much can be gleaned about the changes in American society's views on immigration from WW2 to the present day. When Anna arrived here being different was not valued, while today we toast to our diversity. Anna's war experiences shed light on what happened in Italy during the war to the average person. Her wartime diary is so simple and easy to relate to. It makes you feel like you were there with her family. This is something that can be reflected on as our country now faces uncertian times of our own.
Save your money and borrow this book from a relative........2002-02-05
I did not find this book a must read for anyone. I enjoyed the book till the Part V/ Chapter My Two Sons. The author takes a weird turn in her life where she went from someone who looked beyond herself to someone who only could see herself and her needs. If you want to read this book just be advised it gets weird after page 217. I find it sad when someone loses her faith in God.
I must admit I bought this book, because I heard that Anna's father was from Cersosimo, Italy--a place I have heard about from my relatives who are also from Cersosimo.
I love this book.......2001-09-05
Every once in a while I read a book that moves me like this one has. I can only hope some of those closest to me do the same with their own stories. Not only is this an exceptional novel it would b required reading at schools and universities across the world. When you want to know something about history we should look at the work of writers such as Anna. I found the war diary excerpts to be of particular value and I thank the author for writing such a compelling story. I would be happy to read anything else she may have.

Book Description
One of America's most daring and accomplished test pilots, Tex Johnston flew the first U.S. jet airplanes and, in a career spanning the 1930s through the 1970s, helped create the jet age at such pioneering aerospace companies as Bell Aircraft and Boeing.
Customer Reviews:
Great historical autobiography of a legend.......1999-06-17
This is a great historical accounting of the life of an American aviation pioneer. Tex Johnston's life was a colorful mix of barnstorming through the flight testing and air racing of WWII fighters, and finally the experimental flight testing of the Bell X-1 (prior to Chuck Yeager) and the Boeing aircraft when the jet age was underway. The book is a little scant in his accounting of the famous (infamous?) barrell rolls of the 707 prototype over Lake Washington, which is disappointing. Overall, a great book and must reading for any fan of the early years of experimental flight testing.

Since she was a young child, Ellen Cutler suffered from constipation, bloating, irritability, cravings, and fatigue from food allergies. She later studied chiropractic with an emphasis on nutrition. Through studying a number of alternative therapies, she developed BioSET--a protocol to treat food allergies and conditions that may be caused by food allergies, such as asthma, headaches, ADHD, and many other disorders.
Cutler's theories, conclusions, and treatments may elicit raised eyebrows from M.D. allergy specialists, although they are commonly used by naturopaths. She diagnoses allergies by means of muscle testing: the patient holds a glass vial of the allergen in one hand while the health professional presses down on the other arm, with weakness indicating allergy. Part of her process uses acupressure to stimulate points on the spine to activate energy blocks and reprogram the brain to stop identifying the substance as an allergen. Her treatment includes enzyme therapy.
Much of The Food Allergy Cure is a discussion of allergies, their symptoms (which can be just about any ailment, complaint, or condition), causes, and food triggers, with plentiful case studies of Cutler's success with patients. There is very little actual self-help information here. Usually Cutler discusses a condition and its roots in food allergies, and then describes how successful she is in treating patients with this condition using her BioSET system. The only at-home treatments described in the book are muscle testing, acupressure technique, an introduction to detoxifying activities, and a number of dietary suggestions and recipes. Other than that, she advises you to consult a BioSET practitioner (you're directed to the author's Web site for a referral list) and/or order the products she promotes. --Joan Price
Book Description
FULLY REVISED AND UPDATED PAPERBACK EDITION.
ELIMINATE YOUR FOOD SENSITIVITIES—ONCE AND FOR ALL.
If you are one of the nearly 90 million people (about one-third of the American population) who are forced to avoid certain foods, then you may have experienced one or several of the myriad of symptoms associated with food allergies, including sinusitis, chronic heartburn, asthma, chronic fatigue, and gastrointestinal distress. Relief from these conditions can now be found in Dr. Ellen Cutler’s revolutionary program, known as BioSET™. The Food Allergy Cure outlines this technique and will help you to combat your food allergies at their root. Combining muscle testing, detoxification techniques, and enzyme and diet therapies, The Food Allergy Cure will help sufferers to:
• Identify and alleviate specific food sensitivities immediately, with quick and easy methods
• Discover how to detoxify your body
• Find the most effective means of eliminating food sensitivities, safely and quickly
• Use a self-diagnostic questionnaire to determine which enzymes will contribute to your optimum health
Using a combination of Eastern and Western medicines, The Food Allergy Cure offers a program that is easy to implement, does not depend on drugs or expensive procedures, and is an invaluable resource for longtime food-allergy sufferers.
Customer Reviews:
Skip this book and go to the source..........2006-03-08
Dr. Cutler barely mentions the acupuncurist from whom she learned her methods, but it was probably Dr. Devi Nambudripad or someone trained by her. So skip the copier and get your information from the woman who discovered a way to truly eliminate all allergies, not just food sensitivities. Her book, Say Goodbye To Illness, is packed full of testimonials, some which include phone numbers and email addresses, which are truly miraculous. She also has a research foundation which has verified the effectiveness of her method, which is called NAET. Nambudripad's materials are much more comprehensive, and there are a lot more NAET practitioners around the country than there are BioSet practitioners. Dr. Cutler does talk more about diet and enzymes than NAET does, but it is also old info you could get in any natural healing book. I am disappointed I wasted my time on this book and will stick with NAET.
Just Not Fair!.......2005-09-07
It's so unreal to me that someone would write this balderdash!
How can they prey on innocent people who have a hard enough time dealing with their very serious, life threatening allergies.
This genre of books is very uncool.
Food for thought for the believers.......2005-02-14
The book offers a novel approach to management of common problems like obesity, depression, arthritis etc. It is based on the premise that allergy to many substances can trigger diverse and totally unrelated symptoms. It dwells on the natural system of health BioSET. This consists of diverse components as unique acupressure techniques, nutritional evaluation and use of enzymes to correct enzyme deficiencies, as well as detoxification through homeopathy along with life style changes.
The author emphasizes that there are ailments related to foods ingested and they include not only asthma, migraine but also depression, obesity, infertility and PMS. She talks about food allergy testing and muscle testing strategies. Finally she reviews BioSET home treatment for food allergies as well as enzyme therapy. She even devotes a reader-friendly chapter to recipies and diet plans.

Ready, set,...huh?.......2004-03-28
The Food Allergy Cure convinced me that allergies may indeed be behind my ailments, but it did not provide me with enough information on how to treat myself without buying more expensive products. After reading the entire book and attempting to start my own treatment, I concluded that The Food Allergy Cure is effectively an extended advertisement for Dr. Cutler's BioSET techniques, where you are expected to buy her home testing products or visit a clinic, and for the enzyme vendor she recommends. Below I will describe how I came to this conclusion.
I slogged through the first half of the book, which is devoted to selling Dr. Cutler's BioSET treatment techniques without discussing in depth what they are and how they work. I was happy when finally on page 153, Cutler gets to actual diagnosis and treatment techniques. I tried the muscle testing on myself with milk, a known allergen, but my muscles did not weaken when I held a vial of milk. Determined to heal myself, I continued to Chapter 8, where you are told that before you actually test for foods, it's best to first test Level 1, where you "balance the body," testing for "blood, organs, glands, immune system, and enzymes" and then Level 2, where you "clear foods," listing "amino acids, phenolics and biochemicals, minerals, Vitamin C, [etc.]" (p. 170). On p. 171, Cutler instructs the reader to begin by testing the blood vial. Fair enough, anyone can prepare a blood vial at home. But how on earth do you get a vial for the rest of Level 1, your "organs, glands, immune system, and enzymes"? I suppose a resourceful person could figure out how to find Level 2 substances "amino acids, phenolics and biochemicals, minerals, Vitamin C, [etc.]" at home. I strongly suspect that Cutler expects the reader to order the Food Allergy Kit of vials, described in Appendix 1. Appendix 1 states that the kit contains Level 1 and 2 allergy vials (p. 287). How can a universal kit contain a substance representing the organs, glands, etc. for all human beings, when so many marrow or organ transplants fail due to patients' immune responses? People are all the same under the skin, but in terms of medicine there are limits.
If you forgo buying Dr. Cutler's vials and test for foods only, Cutler's anecdotes on patients who went through the full treatment leave you with question of whether or not your treatment would be more successful if you bought the vials, or better yet, actually visited a certified BioSET clinic. Chapter 9 suggests credible detoxification techniques that do not necessarily require further purchases, but Chapter 10 describes enzyme therapy, which involves--guess what--another purchase. Cutler's recommendations dovetail conveniently with the offerings of Wellzyme, which interestingly also sells this book prominently on the website. And a visit to the website shows that a modest regimen of enzymes would quickly add up to the same amount as a modest regimen of prescription drugs on an HMO plan. In this sense, the book's back-cover promises that you can treat yourself with the information in this book without drugs or expensive procedures, are not entirely true. I imagine visits to BioSET clinics are not cheap (I tried to inquire, but no person answers the 800 number on the BioSET website, nor do they return calls), and while enzymes are not technically drugs, they do cost as much as drugs.
Chapter 11 outlines diet plans that look remarkably similar to one another (three of four prescribe liberal quantities of vegetables, for example). They also look difficult to follow. It's very well to restrict yourself to two of some fruits per day, but there are other fruits and vegetables that you can eat only 3-4 times per week. If you're a dieter, you can take weekly meal planning in stride, but most of us can't be bothered figuring out which fruits to have daily and which to have only a few times a week.
I do believe that these theories have some validity, but the procedures described require a certain suspension of belief. I recommend you borrow this book from the library, read it carefully, and proceed sensibly.
Don't let the skeptics turn you away.......2003-10-09
I also was cured of life threatening allergies by using this method. Did I think it was too good to be true? Yes. But after being told by 3 specialists that there was nothing they could do for me I was willing to grasp at straws. It worked for me and I have not taken a pill or made a trip to the emergency room for anaphylactic shock for several years.
Please don't let the skeptics keep you from trying such a wonderful chance to change your life. It is pain free and risk free so I would definitely recommend it to anyone. It can't hurt to try!

THE "ANTI-DIVORCE" BOOK FOR COUPLES WHO ARE COMMITTED TO MAKING "I DO" LAST FOR A LIFETIME
Robert Stephan Cohen believes that no marriage is half as complicated as a divorce -- and with three decades of experience as a high-profile divorce lawyer, he should know! In Reconcilable Differences, he gives couples the keys to navigating conflicts before they become roadblocks to marital harmony.
Cohen begins by identifying the seven "Universal Differences" that often lead to conflict but don't necessarily signal the end of the union:
Parallel Lives * Communication * Sex * Money *
Infidelity * Transitions * In-laws/Family
With the cool, compassionate voice of a trusted adviser, he then explains that there are three phases of conflict:
Warning signs -- the early tip-offs that trouble is brewing;
Crimes and misdemeanors -- actions guaranteed to raise tempers; and
Reconciliation -- the process of getting back on track. Drawing on countless case histories, Cohen reveals how to put these differences behind you and move forward -- together.
Customer Reviews:
Reconcilable Differences by: Robert Cohen.......2006-08-10
The book was in excellent condition when received and was shipped expediently. I haven't finished reading the book, therefore I cannot give a true review on the content, however I would purchase items from the seller again.
This book is garbage........2005-04-28
Everyone in New York knows that Cohen is a sleazeball attorney who would do anything for a buck. Even worse, he is a chronic liar and it shows in the book. As an example, he suggest consulting lawyers to prevent problems, when lawyers often generate the problems to generate fees. The notion that he is capable to dispensing advice to anyone about human relations is laughable. The book is a must do not read.
Good advice.......2004-05-24
I came across this book quite accidentally, but I was struck my the title. What could a matrimonial lawyer say that hasn't been published already?
A divorce attorney identifies the seven most common relationship problems--parallel lives, communication, sex, money, infidelity, transitions, and in-laws/family--and explains how to deal with each of them.
Puts the "what to do" behind the "I do".......2002-04-16
There are few times more miserable in life when the person who once made you feel best ab out yourself and your life, becomes the one who now makes you feel worst about both. Like it or not, human beings often learn more from what they do wrong than what they do right. What better vantage point to identify what goes wrong in a marriage and what can make it go right and how to prevent the mess in the first place than from a compassionate, plain-talking (vs. psychobabbling) matrimonial lawyer who has seen them all and who is honest enough to talk about his own personal shortcomings from his own marriage. Buy, read and re-read "Reconcilable Differences" so you never have to hire a lawyer like Mr. Cohen.
great advice.......2002-04-10
i read a clip of this book in a magazine and knew i had to have it....i live with my boyfriend ( we are in our mid 30's ) and i realize all the mistakes ive made in the past...i am confident that we will always work through out struggles...thanks a million...susan torres

Book Description
With an artist's eye, a B-17 bomber navigator recalls his WWII experiences.
During the summer of 1944, the now-legendary American Eighth Air Force was engaged in a ferocious air battle over Europe to bring the Allies victory over the German Third Reich. This is the story of one B-17 navigator and his crewmates, men who faced extraordinary danger with a maturity beyond their years. This vivid and detailed account of combat flying and its psychological toll also recalls the beginning of Robert Grilley's development as a painter of international renown, as he spends his off-duty time drawing the peaceful Northamptonshire landscape around Deenethorpe airbase.
Wakened with flashlights on their faces in the predawn hours, he and his crew repeatedly face the Luftwaffe in battles five miles high, flying through flak "so thick you could get out and walk on it." Stretching their stamina to the limits, they succeed time after time in their missions to bomb munitions works, railyards, the Leüna synthetic oil plant at Merseburg in eastern Germany, the V2 rocket research center at Peenemünde on the distant Baltic Coast, and even to strike Hitler's capital city, Berlin.
But Grilley finds interludes of unexpected grace and restoration on his days off, making serious drawings from nature at the neighboring Yokehill Farm. There he slowly cultivates a friendship with a curious eight-year-old, the lively child Elizabeth, who becomes for the combat flyer a symbol of survival.

THIS BOOK "SAVED MY MARRIAGE".......2004-04-02
There are three of you in a marriage. YOU, ME and US. All three need to be happy. This book can get you there. It saved our marriage.
A profound, important, and implication-rich book.......2002-02-07
For me this book is one of the most profound and important books I have ever read about relationships and communication. Although it is written as a book about marital relationships, it has implications for every kind of relationship, and not only intimate or dyadic ones. And, although it is written as a pop psychology book, I think it makes a real contribution to the social-scientific understanding of relationships and communication -- that is, it stands up well as a general model of communication and relationship. I think it is a great book and would be of great value not only to those trying to solve relationship problems but to those wanting to understand the ways in which self and relationship are intertwined in general. It illuminates all of the areas of one's life in which one communicates with others and, as another reader said, can be as valuable for understanding past relationships as for dealing with present ones.
Excellent, excellent book........2002-01-29
This book has really come to the rescue in my life. I am 24 and my partner 21. We've been together 8 months and started having conflicts after moving in together about 2 months ago. After a big fight one day, she brought this book home and we agreed to read it together every day.
Since then, there's been a massive change for us. A difficult change too, but so worthwhile. Margie and Jordan are really great people, and they make the book funny, informative and loving, but strong enough to shake you up. It's just so great... learning to learn is difficult, but ultimately incredibly rewarding. 1000 stars!
Buy this book!.......2000-09-23
If you are having conflicts in your relationship, I cannot recommend a better book for helping understand your own reactions to your partner's behavior. This book shed enormous light on my relationship. That relationship ultimately fell apart, but this book helped me to understand why.

Customer Reviews:
This book really helps you communicate with your partner.......2007-03-12
There is no perfect answer to conflict in relationships...but this is a very good system for looking deeper and getting honest about what the underlying problems could be.
Connecting with your higher self made simple & fast.......2001-08-20
BUY IT FIRST !!! OK, probably like you, I have bookshelves full of books that I thought would help me identify my issues/self limiting beliefs, understand where they came from and deal with them. This of course comes after giving up on stockpiling books about how to change others to get what you want. Finally you realize YOU need to give YOU what you want to be happy, but how? By page 30 of this EASY TO READ book, the essential ideas of tons of other books on the subject have been covered, simply and QUICKLY. It's like someone plowed through all the available info on the subject, distilled it for people with short attention spans and leads you simply and quickly to the points that you need to get, speaking directly and understandably to you. Written by husband/wife team who discuss very openly what their issues were in getting to the place we all want to get to (Part 1). Part 2 is how to inventory and deal with your own stuff. I could have saved a ton of money, frustration and time, had I bought this one first. Think I'll take their seminar as well, regardless of location or cost. These folks have it nailed and have made it as easy as it's going to get. If you are tired of [working with] this stuff, getting a little here and a little there and just want to finally get it done, then I highly recommend this book. Get this, the WORKBOOK version... that is if you are ready to DO your work and quit reading up on it.

I find this book unusually challenging, both for the depth and breath of issues that are unequivocably addressed with limpid and even perplexing objectivity and honesty. I recommend this treatise to any individual seeking a deeper understanding of his/her spiritual journey. Not an easy reading, but ever so worthwhile!

Book Description
Leigh Scott is a single mom who just wants the best for her only son, Jeff: a college degree and a good job. But when he starts seeing Jessica, a young woman with a troubled past and a questionable future, Leigh envisions all her best-laid plans going up in smoke. As Jeff spends more and more time with Jessica, Leigh sees her fears realized in Jeff’s dropping grades and bad choices. To top it off, Leigh finds her relationships with her parents, her brother, and a long-lost old flame getting more complicated. Will Leigh get through to her son in time? Or is there more to Jessica than meets the eye? This many-layered, emotional family saga will captivate readers as it shows them the peril of judgment, the need for forgiveness, and the gift of love.

Nikki Arana--a new favorite author!.......2007-10-18
Leigh Scott is a widowed, single mother who wants the best for her son Jeff. She would like him to graduate from college, land a secure job, and start a family. However, Jeff, who was diagnosed with Attention Deficit Disorder (ADD) at a young age, has a God-given compassion for people. And his non-judgemental acceptance of all has unintended consequences.
Jeff starts dating Jessica, a girl with a questionable past and seemingly non-existent future. Soon, Jeff's grades drop as quickly as his sober determination to achieve the goals he's worked toward all his life, and Leigh finds herself caught in a relational tornado
To complicate matters further, Leigh is an author with a looming book deadline, a father battling cancer, and her former boyfriend and first love, a strong Christian Native American, coming back in her life.

This is the first book I've read by this author. I didn't know what to expect and was pleasantly surprised. Arana does a great job with her characterization by making us really feel for her characters. She makes them human with real flawes and yet showing their redeeming values.
Her character, Jessica, (I won't give too much away) anyway, Jessica has lived a less than stellar life, she's making a mess of Leigh's son's life and to put it honestly, sucking the life out of him and dragging him into a life of despair. What Arana does so well is make us feel for the girl, even though she's a mess, and she never quits being a mess, we still see her redeeming value and find ourselves praying the girl gets the help she deserves.
By the end of the book, Leigh realizes her own flaws as a Christian and sees herself for the judgmental person she's become. How many times in our own walk with God do we find ourselves feeling self-righteous and as much as I hate saying it...better than others? I'll confess it right here, I judge people all the time, only to be convicted by God with that little still voice saying "Sabrina, isn't my grace sufficient for them too?"
I think that's what I loved about this book, it was full of flawed people doing the best they could. Both Christians and non-Christians. And that's real life folks.
If I had to find a fault with the book I'd say they didn't do justice to her cover. There was so many neat things they could have done to incorporate the story line that I admit I might not have picked it up by cover alone if I'd have seen it in the bookstore. If you get the chance, pick up your copy today. As I Have Loved You: A Novel
4 stars.......2007-08-31
Leigh Scott's perfect world begins to crumble when her son, Jeff, becomes involved with what appears to be a most unsuitable girl. Despite her Christian faith, Leigh finds herself hating the girl and the negative influence she has on Jeff's life. At the same time, she has reconnected with her first love and struggling to forgive her father who manipulated things to keep her from marrying the man she truly loved, and coping with other secrets and lies that have shored up her carefully constructed world for years.
**** This is a complex book, one that is very difficult to sum up, but it is Ms. Arana's best work to date. Though the subject matter tends to be dark at times, unlike her prior trilogy, it does not become boggy and depressing while trying to sound happy about being afflicted. Despite the frank sorrow and patently flawed characters, there is a strong spiritual message that will touch many hearts. There are things I find surprising in a Christian novel, but that makes it more honest.

Wow! Another great book by Nikki Arana. It is very moving and thought provoking but I didn't expect any different. This book takes you through just about every emotion. I did not want to put it down.
Outstanding!!!!.......2007-07-12
"As I Have Love You" is another great novel by Nikki Arana. This book made me hungry for more of the Holy Spirit and His leading. Leigh, the main character learns to "let go" of her only son when he moves out and away from the direction of God. Leigh learns to trust God with the seeds that she had planted in her only sons life. Jeff's life is a picture of God's mercy and grace. Read this story and feel the love that the Father lavishes upon us as children of God. ~Shelly of Chadron MOPS
A Silvery Mist and a Beautiful Buck...........2007-06-30
Deeply spiritual, totally loving without the syrup, and a myriad of characters one can form a relationship with. Leigh is the single mom of Jeff, a 21 yr. old ADD sufferer, and she loves him to the point of smothering, truly believing she knows what is best for him. I distrusted Leigh from the beginning.
Jeff, whom I dearly loved from the first mention of his name, has a full and heavy load, fighting ADD, attending college, working and being the perfect son. Then he met Jessica.
Jessica, whom I cried for, will never be good enough for Jeff according to Leigh. Her troubled past and present make her second class and Leigh sets to break them up. However, his first love is strong enough to cause Jeff to defy his mom, his church and his Biblical teachings. Leigh is devastated and heartbroken, angry and vindictive. She has absolutely no clue she is just the same as a person she is hating and judging.
John, Leigh's first and only real love "disappeared" just out of high school, and she has carried a torch for 25 years, desperate to know why he never answered any of her letters. A chance viewing of him on the TV sends her in search of him and some answers. What she finds out changes the direction of all their lives and love-hate grow stronger and stronger.
John is so spiritual, he was my hero, and seemed to step right out of the pages of the Bible as well as history. He is the type of man every person would love to meet at least once in their lifetime. His spirituality, patience, love and honesty truly grip the reader from the first.
There is family conflict between Leigh and her parents because of the favoritism toward her brother, RJ. Her dad is now suffering from cancer, and there is infinished business between siblings and parents....lots of it.
There are surprises and shocks, in some cases I actually found myself getting angry because things did not go the way I wanted for my heroes. This is because the author grabs your attention, walks the characters right in front of you, and refuses to let go of your interest, a truly amazing feat.
Jessica and her pain show the rocky road of sorrow that many of today's unwanted babies have as their lot in life. Desertion, mistreatment and rape have been her past and drugs her present, but Jeff loves her so deeply that he is willing to overlook it all and help her through...but they really need AND WANT the love and support of his mom. At one time they thought they might get her support, but when the chips were down, it wasn't there. A truly heartbreaking love story of a young couple.
This book is so deeply spiritual it has one heading to the pages of the Bible to see what is written there....even with it being a fiction book, it is so touching and grabs both heart and soul.
I am forever grateful for getting this book, and sincerely hope there is a sequel, but if not, it stands on its' own. Thank you Nikki and may God continue to bless your writing. I have a new top author on my list..YOU
