Book Description
Whispering Death . . . is a shattering account of an eighteen-year old aviator from the streets of America to Vietnam, into the Macomb world of a Secret War run by the CIA, fought with clandestine forces, the Hmong hill people, and a vast and varied air armada.
"This is a book that must be read . . . I highly recommend this book for knowledge of how the Secret War in Laos was fought and why we owe the Hmong so much."
Harry C. Aderholt - Brigadier General USAF, Ret.
"A superb tale of aviation adventure in the combat skies of Southeast Asia woven with extraordinary skill. Discover the Hmong hill tribesmen of Laos to be courageous, freedom-loving fighters. Read the first-hand accounts of their struggle and exodus after being abandoned by their American ally. This is a gripping, personal story from a new perspective. A must-read for fans of military aviation during the Vietnam War era."
Larry Sanborn - Raven FAC - call sign: Sandy
. . . Our Journey with the Hmong in the Secret War for Laos shadows the struggle of the Lao-Hmong people, who chose to ally with the Americans in their Secret War, suffered the brutality of combat for over a decade, and then endured the ultimate betrayal of the American government.
"One of the most comprehensive and fascinating books ever written about America's most covert war. It embodies the desperate fight for freedom these Americans and Hmong faced together, bound as eternal brothers and sisters. And in the end how an American government left my people to die alone."
Yang Chee, President, Lao-Hmong American Coalition

Heart Shattering Story about our Secret War.......2005-12-29
I read it and couldn't put it down. I cried, I laughed. I understood for the first time what the Hmong did for this country and how we left them to die alone. Are we doing this to our allies today?
I was there also!.......2005-08-22
I spent two tours doing what this book is all about, and over the years there are alot of time gaps, dates, buddies, and names that just fadded over the years. This book put me back in the right seat, same planes, and on the same missions. From Phu Bai, to Udorn, and Thuay Hue, Bob Curry tells it as it was being an enlisted man in an officers world! A great book that placed me right over the PDJ 35 years ago, to returning home to the same welcomeing that so many of us recieved. Well worth your reading time!

Book Description
A rare glimpse into the Wright brothers' genius, replete with human weakness, failure, and majestic triumphs.
Wilbur and Orville Wright not only were the first to build and fly a powered airplane, but they also invented aeronautical engineering and became among the most eloquent and influential of aviation's early pioneers. The brothers wrote dozens of articles about their work and aviation in general, which offer a wealth of detail and unique insight into the birth of flight. 59 b/w illustrations.
"Nearly 70 technical and popular articles, speeches, interviews, letters, and other writing by the brothers span from their experiments with gliders at the beginning of the twentieth century to Orville's death in 1948. They describe the design of their aircraft, early test flights, camp life at Kitty Hawk, airplane stability, the future of commercial aviation and air travel, sport flying, air safety, military aviation, and other topics. Wilbur's sudden death in 1912 prevented them from writing a joint book, so this collection is the fullest to date of their combined work. Jakab, a curator of early aviation at the National Air and Space Museum, and Young, with the Wright Experience organization creating reproductions of the Wrights' aircraft, annotate the material thoroughly."Book News, Inc.

Reconstructing History.......2002-04-09
If you are studying Wright Fliers for the first time, or are an avid consumer of aviation history, this book will do wonders for your understandings of the Wright Brothers and their time in history. If you have already read Kelly, McFarland, and Crouch, you will find a new and revitalized interest.
Jakab and Young combine their talents and knowledge of aviation history to weave a few new bits of enlightening knowledge. Their explanations and corrections, that they cite, show that they have put a great deal of time into "getting a few things straight". They do a really nice job of tactfully showing the errors in other publications, giving credit where credit is due and help to put things in a proper light. You will enjoy the ride.

Book Description
From the author of the two million copy Eat Right 4 (for) Your Type series- a library of books to help defeat eight of the most common conditions with the Blood Type Diet.(r)
Dr. Peter J. D'Adamo has forever changed the face of eating right to lose weight and achieve maximum health. Because he discovered what many already instinctively new-that a plan that works for one person may make another ill-there will never be a one-size-fits-all diet again. And since we now know that each blood type is affected differently by common diseases and conditions, there will never be a one-size-fits-all plan of action.
Now Dr. D'Adamo adds two new volumes to hisEat Right for Your Type Health Library. The first two were Cancer and Diabetes. The next books tackle arthritis (including osteoarthritis, rheumatoid arthritis and other conditions caused by inflammation) and cardiovascular disease (such as high blood pressure, heart disease, and stroke).
In these volumes, readers will find new information individualized for their blood type and illness. Self-assessment tests that help determine status and measure progress are included, as well as supplementary, lifestyle, and exercise protocols tailored to each blood type and each condition. There has never been a better arsenal for fighting disease, nor an easier or clearer tool.

Enticing.......2007-01-09
Not the depth of some of Dr. DaDamo's major books but very adequate for someone with Arthritis. From here, someone, if interested, can dig deeper if they feel their arthritis was helped.
Excellent.......2006-06-30
This book was very helpful to me. Excellent book! This was the answer to what I was looking for, i.e. eating and drinking the right things for my blood type to not upset my stomach. I ordered 4 more books for my family and friends.
Book Description
Ireland's advocate of fresh, simple cooking presents recipes for the full range of traditional Irish holiday fare.
Customer Reviews:
Good gift for Irish foodie. Much smaller than average cookbook........2006-01-25
`The Festive Food of Ireland' by noted Cork Ballymaloe Cookery School owner is best suited as a gift to an Irish-American foodie or hungry Notre Dame football fanatic. It is far too short to stand up as a cookbook all by itself, as about half of its 61 pages is devoted to telling us about the major holidays of Ireland, which are:
St. Bridget's Day
St. Patrick's Day
Easter
May Day
The Stations
Hay Making
Lughnasa
Threshing
Michaelmas
Halloween
St. Martin's Eve
Christmas
St. Stephen's Day
The Twelfth Day of Christmas
Only four (4) of these fourteen (14) celebrations really mean much to the average urban American, and that's counting St. Patrick.s Day. Only Easter, Halloween, and Christmas fall within my round of yearly celebrations.
One can not even really count this as a good book on Irish cooking, as a few of the dishes are admitedly more `Irish-American' than they are Irish. So, if you are looking for a full-blown Irish cookbook, check out Ms. Allen's larger books or Margaret M. Johnson's `the Irish Heritage Cookbook' which I shall review very shortly, as I plan to remedy my chronic state of being without an Irish cookbook on St. Patrick's Day.
I should also warn you that the recipes include some unfamiliar sounding ingredients and many directions assume a bit more kitchen knowledge than may be in the hands of a rank amateur. Therefore, if you plan to give this as a gift, give it to a practiced cook.
One very good thing, albeit a bit messy, is the fact that all amounts are given by both metric weight, English weight, and volume (spoons or cups). While this is a very nice thing, it makes reading the amounts a bit clumsy, as the way they are printed, you have to examine the numbers carefully to see which unit is which.
Otherwise, this still makes a great gift for a hungary lover of the Emerald Isle.
Expert on Ireland.......2002-01-20
She's an expert on Ireland and serves up some great, authentic food.

Product Description
From the Oyster Festival in Galway to the Strawberry Festival in Wexford, from St. Patricks Day to Michaelmas, from Christmas pudding to food for wakes, the background folklore given for each recipe is as vibrantly interesting as the recipes themselves: Spring Tonic Nettle Soup takes its place near a St. Valentines recipe for Chocolate Almond Tart; the colorful cocktail recipe Irish Flag nestles next to two hearty recipes for Colcannon (one with kale and one with cabbage); Peat Moss-Smoked Beef Filet precedes a Whiskey Cream Christening Cake.

Excellent source on ferrets!.......2001-05-26
First of all, let me say what a big help this was to me. It pratically has sections on everything you need to know about ferrets; getting your house ferret-proof, how to bathe them, how to tell if they have an illness, and much more. This book is great for ferret owners and soon-to-be ferret owners. It is a must-have, and I highly recommend you buy it. Trust me, this is bool very helpful.

Customer Reviews:
Ferret book.......2005-08-19
I don't have a ferret, but this book taught me a lot about them that I didn't realize such as they need shots and are subject to various laws. Also, if your ferret bites someone it might be put down. It is clear from reading the book that keeping a ferret is more like having a cat than an easier care small animal, such as a guinea pig.
As for the ferret stalking the chicken picture, it says right in the book that the ferret was wearing a leash which was edited-out with graphics
Gives good information to new ferret owners.......1998-09-27
Explains needed information for ferret owners. Also gives accurate information on ferret history.
author needs to stick to simple home repairs!.......1998-06-06
Contents seem to be a general overall copy of other ferret books that were a lot better than this one. Author Karen Dustman would be better off sticking to her incredibly simple home repairs. Anyone who would show a ferret stalking a chicken must be incredibly simple!

Customer Reviews:
A wonderful place to start.......2004-10-21
I loved this book when I used it as a reference when I was nursing all of my four children. It is proudly displayed in my book collection. The photos are wonderful. They show such diversity that any mother can find a photo to identify with in the book. I also enjoy this book because it is a great way to show children how nursing a baby is a normal natural thing. The drawings in other books cannot capture that same feeling. When my daughters areready to nurse their babies this a book that I will pass on to them.
Great Guide for Beginners.......2001-11-21
This book has been a great start for me and my first baby. It explains things in detail with lots of pictures. Also, it discusses related topics such as ways to bond with your baby. Watch out if you are a bit conservative. There are lots of references and photos of women breastfeeding children who are well past the toddler stage. A bit out of the ordinary in America, but still a great book!
A must-have for Moms new to breastfeeding!.......2001-10-12
This book is well written, filled with educated information and very encouraging in today's soceity of formula pushers. I chose this book specifically because I'd never seen anyone breastfeed a baby before and found the many pictures very useful in positioning my son correctly. My son is now 13 months old and I still refer back to it for new ideas as he grows into a toddler and a more active nurser. Highly recommended!!
The only breastfeeding book you'll ever need........2001-07-27
This book is for the mother who knows she is going to nurse. Not those two weekers out there! My son is now 2 and I reached my goal of a year of nursing + a couple extra months. This book reassures you that we were meant for this. Also, there must be a colored illustration on like almost every page. Read this book as soon as you find out you are pregnant so you can start preparing yourself, if need be. This book is and will be more helpful then any nurse or doctor I've encountered. I'M SO THANKFULL I HAD THIS BOOK. I let one of my girlfriends borrow it but I'm sure I'll have to buy my own again.
An essential guide for breastfeeding women.......1997-08-26
Sheila Kitzinger brings her knowledge and experience to light in this extremely-well-illustrated (superb photos!) guide to breastfeeding. She includes what to expect, what is normal, and what problems may arise. This would be a wonderful gift for a new mom. I love this book and highly recommend it as a first-read for those women who are breastfeeding or thinking about breastfeeding

Book Description
A gripping story of heroism, fortitude, and the ability to survive against all odds.
Customer Reviews:
a mesmerizing story of the humanity and inhumanity of man.......2007-05-19
This story focuses on the personal experience of 2 Americans and the people who befriended them and sometimes betrayed them. Most of the book deals with the 2 years they were in hiding and then follows them through their surrender to the Japanese, prison life and life in internment camps.
The author was a journalist in China when Japan invaded it and wrote bluntly of the Japanese activities there. When she and her husband were later in the Philippines and Japan invaded, they feared her past actions would cause the Japanese to treat her especially harshly and so they fled to the jungle.
The first chapter and part of the second are written in a stream of consciousness manner, but don't let that deter you. Part way in the second chapter she begins writing in a narrative style that continues throughout the book. From then on, it's hard to put down.
