Book Description
As proven by Wild Blue, Adrenaline’s first collection of airborne adventures, the best writing about flying includes all the elements of great drama: mortal danger, high stakes, and individuals with not much more than their wits to rely on. Clint Willis’s latest collection, Sky High, raises the stakes even further with a greater focus on the men and women who fly in space. From smashing the sound barrier to the struggles required to get a man into orbit (and then back again), from the first trips to the moon to today’s space station pioneers and paying passenger astronauts, Sky High includes great writing by and about those who have been among the boldest explorers of the past century. From those who led the way (Chuck Yeager, John Glenn, and Neil Armstrong) to world class writers and journalists (Norman Mailer to Bryan Burrough) to lesser-known authors, Sky High gives readers more of the aeronautic thrills that made Wild Blue take off. “Try Adrenaline Books.... In three years, this 20-volume anthology series has earned a cult following.”—ESPN the Magazine
Customer Reviews:
Great blend of aerial combat and adventure -.......2003-01-03
A worthy successor to "Wild Blue", which is still one of the series' very best volumes in my opinion. Sky High is 300 pages, 12 nonfiction tales and a selection from H.G. Wells' First Men in the Moon. I'd have preferred another true story, but that's me. There are two WWI flying tales, and a pair of WWII stories, one very good. Rounding out the military aviation is a complete article about several days spent on a modern aircraft carrier - strong stuff. Yeager tells of breaking the sound barrier (Wolfe's version was excerpted in "Wild Blue"); in Sky High the excerpt from Wolfe's 'The Right Stuff' is about John Glenn orbiting the earth, and it's terrific. Gene Cernan describes the tensions of walking in space and an excerpt from Chaikin's 'A Man on the Moon' details the horrifying Apollo fire that killed astronauts Grissom, White and Chaffee. Personally I think these 'space stories' are the three best in the book. Rounding it all out - an interesting full piece on crop dusting, a tribute to an Alaskan Bush pilot and a not-so interesting story about a nature writer who survives a plane crash (my least favorite, luckily at the end where it doesn't interupt the flow of adrenaline.) Three of the 13 selections are complete, the rest are excerpted. This volume lives up to the 'adrenaline' rush the cover promises and if you like it, don't forget to check out "Wild Blue".

Herbs for Hepatitis C and the Liver.......2003-04-15
This is an essential book for Hep C. I have used the herbal protocol for 8 months and brought my viral load down to 69,000 and it is still dropping. Before I read this book, I had almost convinced myself that traditional treatment was the only way, even with its horrible side effects. Now, I am so glad that I found this book, contacted Dry Creek Herb Farm (referenced in the book) and started my daily herb treatments. The only side effect of the herb is that they don't taste very good, but with the results I have had they are starting to taste pretty good. The cost is very affordable also. Thank you Stephen Harrod Buhrner and Dry Creek Herb Farm.
Invaluable knowledge for those with HCV.......2000-07-29
This book is incredible. The natural remedies and diet choices along with supplement/vitamin advice is like visiting a top notch herbologist/naturopath who specializes in Hepatitis C. I own several books on the topic, but nothing compares to the wise, straighforward and warmly written text by these folks! Do yourself a favor and start feeling better soon! Buy this book today!
Save Your Life: Buy This Book.......2000-06-30
I have hepatitis C and I've read everything there is on it. This book is the best I have seen. It offers hope for those with hepatitis c with a look at the most important herbs, supplements, and foods to heal hep c. The clinical trial research supporting these herbs is incredible. Buhner is a great writer and shows tremendous control of his subject. If you or a loved one suffers from this disease you can't afford not to buy this book. It can save your life. Highly recommended!

Great for the perfect party!.......2007-02-27
This cookbook is perfect for entertaining. I have used these recipes time and time again to rave reviews. I had an Oscar Party last night and the food was a huge hit! I would recommend it to anyone that enjoys cooking and entertaining. I hope you enjoy it as much as I have...happy cooking!
Lousy.......2006-08-16
I REALLY HATE THAT I ORDERED THIS BOOK. IT IS LOUSY. IT DOES NOT HAVE GOOD RECIPES OR RECIPES THAT PEOPLE WOULD REALLY ENJOY. THEY ARE TOO STRANGE. I REALLY DON'T LIKE THIS BOOK AND I WOULDN'T TELL ANYONE TO PURCHASE IT.
Perfect Party Planning Book!.......2006-02-24
When I first got this cookbook, I salivated over all the great recipes in it. My fiancee, who also loves to cook, did the same. We have since tried a handful of the recipes, and they have all been fabulous! We recently hosted a dinner party which included 4 recipes from the book -- everyone RAVED! And lots of the recipes can be (at least partially) made ahead, which allows the host/hostess more time to relax and socialize with guests. I would not hesitate to recommend this book for anyone who loves to have people over for dinner. You will be worshipped.
Truly Outstanding Cookbook!.......2003-04-05
I stumbled on this cookbook truly by accident, having to buy one book for a commitment to a cooking book club--and what an amazing suprise! I love to cook gourmet food--especially recipes fit into my busy schedule as a mom and author of The Mom Book (www.momcentral.com) and often almost always in charge of appetizers for my various women group gatherings. I always rate recipes from 1-5, and anything below a 4 never gets cooked again. I have now worked my way through about 17 recipes from the Diva Cookbook, and remarkably they are all 5's--when most cookbooks fall into the 3 star rating of recipes. I have been raving about this all of my friends, who have been impressed by the complex tastes and sophisticated presentations of these delicious appetizers (while they have not taken me more than a half-hour to make at home)--so I figured it was high time to share my complete enthusiasm for this book on Amazon[.com] to pass the word along. Outside of The Splendid Table, this is the very best cookbook I own--all I can say is: Wow!
A Must Have for Entertaining !!!.......2003-01-11
Jennifer and Victoria do a wonderful job with walking you through each dish so it looks and tastes as wonderful as the pictures throughout the book. I use the book every weekend trying new dishes for my guest - All have been fantastic! This is a must buy for anyone who entertains.

lap quilting.......2004-01-28
This is a book that can be saved and enjoyed over and over.
Georgia Bonsteel makes it easy........1998-12-29
I found this book to be well written and informative. The quilt patterns range from simple to complex for beginners and the more experienced quilter. For those of you who are beginners, invest in a rotary cutter system for this will make redundant cutting of pieces much faster and easier. I did find that I needed to purchase some extra yardage of fabrics due to my choice in color and arrangements, keep this in mind if you should chose to vary from the colors used in the book. I would have liked to see pointers on how to handle complex intersections in some of the star patterns that would have made them lay nicer. I had to learn by trial and error. (Practice with scraps on these until you feel you have it down.) All in all I found this volume to be well laid out with beautiful photography and helpful. The abundance of available pattern pieces was generous and should keep the reader busy attempting to recreate the wonderful quilts depicted in the book.

Old Friends.......2000-07-28
I first purchased this book about 15 years ago, Georgia use to do a show on my local PBS station and I had started to quilt with a church group. Time goes by, rotary cutters and mats all make sewing our little projects so much more enjoyable. I love her BIG designs that work up so nicely. Lots of room for creativity.

Book Description
Mario Botta believes that 'architecture is an ethical discipline before it is an aesthetic one'. By this principle he decided which architectural works should be featured in this superb edition of the Pro Architect series: he chose the house or home because it represents humankind's primary need for shelter; the museum for its sense of community; the commercial center for its meaning as a workplace; and the church because it focuses on the need for spirituality. In Botta's own words "architecture and the organization of mankind's living space still represent the formal expression of history".
Includes SFMOMA; Cathedral in Evry, France; Municipal Library, Dortmund, Germany; Swisscom Center in Ticino, Switzerland; and many more.

Fabulous book!.......2007-01-14
Excellent primary sources offer a Japanese perspective on Perry's "opening" of Japan and provide reasons for Japan's isolationism. Short excerpts are readable for students, even freshmen!
