I cried when I first viewed this book in one of my child's doctor's offices and knew I had to own it. Anyone who has an autistic child will understand and those who don't will be able to get a sense of what living in dual worlds is like for both.

Telling Our Story.......2005-05-18

I borrowed this book from my sons classroom. He is autistic impaired and his class is made up of 7 children who are autistic impaired. I have read many books on or about autism and none of them have affected me like this book. I saw the story of both my son and my family told through words and pictures.

As a parent of an autistic child you feel alone. No one you know understands what your life is like, no one outside your family understands your child. This book lifts the veil a little bit for those who have not personally experienced living with autism.

A Song & Dance of Victory.......2004-12-17

This is one of the most beautiful books about autism that I have ever come across. Instead of lamenting over people who have autism and applying the tired Rain Man stereotype, this book encourages people, neurotypical and autistic alike to celebrate in the Autism Experience. The lovely photograhphs help to reinforce this message. Readers look at the people directly involved and see people and not labels. I really like that.

Autism and its related condition, Asperger's Syndrome are neurobiological conditions that affect sensory processing and communication. Autism is as varied as there are individuals and the behavior reflects that individuality. I like the way this book gently illustrates that and invites readers to sing and dance in victory, celebrating the Autism Experience!

This book was enchanting! The text contained universal truths that resonate with anyone living with a handicapped child, not just a child with autism. When we look for the godliness in others, we immeasurably enrich our lives. In fact, the truths learned and promoted can be applied to everyone: that each child is imbued with dignity and that each of us reflects God. Bravo!

Every recipe we've tried has worked out well. The roasted sweet potato soup and the fresh tomato with basil were both excellent. The meat recipes are also good, but the book really excels at using vegetables.

...you can count on this one. This book is filled with an expansive assortment of recipes from all cultures and cuisines. Every recipe I've made has been truly excellent, and I have a large number of the others on my "got to try that one, too" list. Finally, this book is jam-packed with pictures. Each recipe has one or more photos associated with the various steps in the recipe, but they're thorougly uselss/unnecessary. For exampple, they show nothing more than a hand stirring the broth, squeezing a lemon, or grating some pepper into the soup. However, each recipe also has a much larger photograph--many full-page-size--associated with it that shows the finished product in a bowl, poised for serving. These are a mouth-watering delight to look at. Keep your eyes out for a copy of this one.

Prior to finding the actual New England soup factory, I did not like soup. Now, I am addicted. I was thrilled when I walked in and found that Marjorie was willing to share her recipes with the rest of us. BTW -- the Carrot Ginger soup is amazing!

A Soup for Everyone.......2007-09-17

I am in love with this book. Many of my co-workers and I consider it a special treat on days we get to lunch at the New England Soup Factory (their Chili Con Carne is our collective favorite), so I was ecstatic to find a copy of their recipe book while browsing the bookstore over the weekend. And, yes, the Chili Con Carne recipe is included!

There are so many mouth-watering, rich, unique and comfort-food soups that I had a hard time deciding what to make first. From Potato, Crab and Gorgonzola to Apple, Onion and cheddar--they all sound so good! I decided on a vegetarian option: Spinach, Feta Cheese, and Toasted Pine Nut Soup. Not only was it delicious, but it was easy to make.

In addition to the seasonal soups, Druker has included a chapter of sandwiches and salads which are just as appetizing as the soups. (For example; The Fallwich, with sweet potatoes, cranberry mayonnaise, turkey and cashews.)

I know what I'll be getting my whole family for Christmas this year.

This is an exceptionally fine recipe book. One of the best I've ever read and we own hundreds of them. By all means, buy this book for yourself and buy one as a very unique, completely excellent book for someone else.

I've eaten at the Soup Factory many times. It has an outstanding reputation in the metro Boston / New England area.

Since there is no book description to-date, I guess I'll be the one to tell you: This book is a companion to the template set by the same name. The template set is NOT included but can be ordered (from the author) for $60, plus another $20 if you want a holder for them. The book relies on your buying the templates. It gives tracings of each in the back, so you could make your own, but as most quilters know, there is a big difference between homemade sheet-plastic templates and laser-cut plexi-templates, both in accuracy and safety. Just be aware: an additional purchase is almost certainly required with this book!! I wish they'd said that up front, and I'd have passed on this one.
