Don't bother if you're above a fourth-grade reading level........2005-05-27

Not recommended. The information given is ridiculously basic, and can be provided in a single chapter of Seized by Eve LaPlante or Partial Seizure Disorders by Mitzi Waltz, both highly superior and actually informative books. I can't figure out if Wilner's condescending by nature, or if he's just overcompensating for the anticipated lowest common denominator.

I'll give it two stars instead of one simply because someone out there may genuinely not know things this basic - but if you've been diagnosed with epilepsy, your doctor probably told you more about your disorder in the first five minutes of the appointment than you'll get in this entire book.

Great Resource for The Basics.......2001-04-07

Readers will find this book to be very helpful, as it spells out in very simplistic terms the answers to the questions that they may or may not have thought of yet (definitions, clarifications, listings of medicines). It is a quick read as it is broken down into questions with the corresponding answers. This is a great resource for obtaining the basics on epilepsy, especially for a newly diagnosed patient. It also contains contact information for national organizations.

What a fantastic resource!.......1999-04-02

I am so impressed with the book because it answers in very plain english, the questions a person needs to know first-off when diagnosed. The questions address not only the concerns of a person with epilepsy, but it also addresses issues that family members might want to know. The Health Record is a great way to help patients help themselves get more out of their doctor visits. The Drug and Medical Information lists important numbers of drug companies so that a person can obtain more information about the drugs they take. The resource guide is worth the book alone as it lists support groups, organizations, comprehensive epilepsy centers, summer camps, and other important contacts not just nation-wide, but internationally. Knowledge points the way to a better diagnosis with epilepsy and what questions this book doesn't address, it guides you to sources that will answer the rest.

The title says it all.......2003-08-22

This book is an excellent collection of Southwest American chile recipes. The recipes are divided by meals or usage into chapters including breakfasts, appetizers, salads, soups, vegetables, breads, main dishes with meat, main dishes without meat, accompaniments, and sweets. The recipes are at once creative and inspiring. While some of the recipes are clearly influenced by traditional New Mexican cuisine, such as sweet chile albondigas, some are of native American origin, like summer squash bake, still others are clearly 100% Midwestern American, like crusted green chile loaf. In any case, all of the recipes are united by their common use of chiles.

For reading pleasure, there is a short section on tips, facts, and fancies- -did you know that wild chiles on the bush are also attractive to birds? At the back of the book you will find a glossary, and for those who don't live in New Mexico, a list of chile suppliers. There are no pictures, but that's OK- -more room for recipes. If you like chiles, you need to have this book.

We always buy green chilis from Hatch, New Mexico each year which we roast, bag and freeze for use during the year. I wanted to find new ways to prepare these. This cookbook contains many yummy recipes that I can hardly wait to prepare.

If you have lost a beloved pet, then this is the book that will help you through a difficult time. It informs you of many cases of pets doing things that astound you. It reminds you that you are not alone, your pet will be with you always. There are many cases where pets have saved lives, given special messages or warnings to their masters and this book has many of them for you to read about.. This is a nice addition to a paper craft collection. It gives a good sampling of a variety of paper crafts and a few patterns. It doesn't go into as much detail as I would have liked but the book is laid out very nicely with colorful pictures and descriptions. The book itself is put together extremely well and the paper piecing on the cover is really interesting. All in all, I am very pleased with this book and glad I bought it.

A very worthwhile starter book for azaleas and camellias........2001-07-19

Thanks to this book, I have been able to grow many azaleas and some camellias, and they grow better than most others here. This book showed me the correct way to prune azaleas and when to do it. Because of this method, my azaleas filled out to large mounds that look like big drifts of color when they bloom. I had never grown azaleas or camellias before reading this book. I highly recommend it as a starter book for this subject. As mentioned in an earlier review, coffee grounds are an excellent fertilizer and a good addition to a compost bin.

good intro guide.......2001-06-28

I like this book as an intro to rhodie, etc. It has some good growing tips and good info about pests/disease. I do wish it showed a photo of each variety, instead of selected varieties. I also wish it talked about free/inexpensive fertalizer (coffee grounds) and the like. It's a great starter book on the subject of rhodies.
