I love this book! A friend recommended it to me, because of my stressful schedule, and it has helped me so much. I started incorporating a couple of Kristen's exercises in my day and the tension in my neck is starting to go away. It is amazing how I feel immediate benefits when I stop running around for ONE minute and simply bend over and breathe. I do yoga on a regular basis, but these exercises have helped me to blend more peace and relaxation into my work day. I find myself doing half dog on my desk, twisting when I get in my car, and taking slow beautiful breaths in traffic. These fun and simple exercises really help me go through my day with more awareness and joy.
I am buying this book for everyone I know this holiday. It is perfect to give with some PJ's or a relaxation mix cd!

I've come to the realization that with age and work comes stress...mind-numbing, balled-up-muscles, backaches, headaches...stress. Desperate to find relief in any fashion I came across "YogaNap." The author, Kirsten Rentz, has done a great job at explaining positions in true "Yoga for Idiots" fashion (aka: simply). The illustrations (softly done in blues, and greens) go one step further in making the whole process as easy as pie (mmmmm, pie). Anyway, the poses are a perfect way to end a long (mind-numbing, balled-up-muscles, backaches, headaches) stressful kind of day. Thanks Kirsten!!

The perfect gift for the busy professional who needs to slow down, the stressed-out student, and every person who has avoided yoga due to fear of hot rooms and sore muscles, YogaNap is a fun and unintimidating introduction to the oft-ignored practice of restorative yoga.

Restorative yoga is about de-stressing and healing in lieu of exerting and hurting, and YogaNap captures the spirit of this practice well. The book is organized into chapters based on common physical ailments (such as sleeplessness and back aches), but the reader need not be ailing to benefit from the sleepy asanas and well-supported poses. I'm absolutely crazy about this book! The instructions are the easiest to understand that I've ever seen. For instance, I have a couple of other beading books that neglect to inform one how to start or finish off threads, and how to hide the ends in the beadwork. The technique this author uses is sturdy and invisible. The charts are fabulous; very imaginative and the colors are beautiful. I couldn't be happier with this book. I especially like the fact that each chart states how many beads will end up being in the finished product, how many rows and columns there are in each piece, and clear instructions on which stitch to use. The spiral-bound spine is a lifesaver, as the book will lie flat on your work surface, unlike books with regular spines that need a weight to hold open. I first encountered this book at my local library, and wish I would have found it first rather than the other books I have been using. I wouldn't have made as many time-consuming mistakes as I have. We beaders know that it's the time put into the project, rather than the materials, that ends up costing you money!

by buying this book sight unseen. sometimes the gamble pays off, and i find a new author, but this time i lost and have returned the book to amazon.

most of the patterns given are in the same basic size. far too many are overly cutesy, childish, or just plain ugly. some are very well done--the large zodiac signs are nice, and some of the ethnic charts are good, but too many are just unappealing to me or would require too much re-charting to use them in anything i'm likely to make.

if you have young children you're making things for or who are making things themselves, this might be a useful book. however, if you're beading for adults, there are many other pattern books that would, in my opinion, offer more choices and more scope for use.

the previous reviewer hit all the highpoints. the charts are wonderful. i particularly appreciate the charts for beaded crochet, since i haven't been able to find many (this is not to say that they aren't out there, just that i haven't found them). a very nice touch is the inclusion of a color key for each chart--you can see at a glance what colors are needed.

there are several sections, including instructions and suggestions for cords, edgings and fringes. even though i have an extremely healthy bead book and magazine collection, i found many useful ideas for cords (one in a technique i hadn't seen before), fringes (with silhouettes of various shapes possible with fringe), and other applications. the projects have a nice range of skill level and variety--not just jewelry, but other uses, such as an embellished box, a scissors keep and a fringed key chain. the projects are not large or to time consuming, but they are well-thought-out and beautiful. the gallery is incredible.

the photos are generally clear and the beadwork is positioned for best viewing. the text is informative, and ms. davis frequently includes information on how a stitch can go wrong and how to avoid or correct the mistake (very very very helpful!).

it really is a must have for beaders, as is her first book, _the complete guide to beading techniques_. if this doesn't get your creative juices flowing, you may be comatose!

This is a beader's reference book, full of great patterns for several types of stitches (brick, peyote, herringbone, crochet, etc.). It's not an instructional book, though it does include instructions for a couple of tubular stitches. Great pictures, great designs, and a great bargain when you consider the price of an individual pattern.

This is a wise book full of practical and biblical advice for steering your family through the crisis of a teen pregnancy. There is an emphasis on forgiveness and restoration throughout as the author addresses issue such as secondary virginity, adoption, marriage, etc. Recommended Scripture reading, application questions, guidance for prayer, and helpful checklists for preparing for the baby are also included, as well as personal stories from those who have walked through this situation before.
