It's The Greatest!.......2003-12-04

This is one of the most exciting autobiographies that I have ever read. It contained some very specific information regarding the author's formative years, and how they influenced his adult life. As I read each chapter, I was anxious to move on to the next because of the ease in following the writing.

Something to Aspire to.......2002-09-20

This book (as well as the author's website and training classes) are for the more advanced artist or professional painter. Her work is absolutely beautiful, and achievable if you have some artistic talent. Consider this book after you've had some experience with stencils and general painting techniques. For beginners, try "Stenciling on a Grand Scale" by Linda Buckingham if you are looking for a less complex entry into the world of trompe l'oeil using stencils.

However -- if you're ready for a challenge, this is an outstanding volume!!

I have a lot of creative energy and when I decided to try theorem stencilling, I bought several different books. However, this one book is the one that I constantly refer to to help me with my projects. It is clear and easy to follow with good instructions and pictures. If you are just starting out, this is the first book to buy. I also recommend her videos, which are the best on the market.

If you want to paint what she suggest it is fine. But if you want to create your own paintings then you need a different book.

This is a great book and give's easy to follow instructions. However, even though the instructions are given quiet well you better have some real talent to paint the way they tell you in the book. Beautiful color and idea's in this book. I am glad I purchased it a good value for the money.

Great book for beginners or those with some experience in dabbling with stencils like myself. The ABSOLUTE BEST is the great list of web sites in the Resource section of the book. I have found GREAT information on these sites as well as some SUPER stencil stores.This is a must for those fellow stencilers who want to graduate to more creative and challenging works but feel they don't have the creative talent or "juices" like ME!!

I gave this book to my father many years ago, and had completely forgotten about it. He recently passed away and, when going through his things, I found the book. He had completed it. I cannot tell you how wonderful it was to have his words and thoughts in writing, many of those words and thoughts quite new to me! My brothers and I will treasure this book forever...once a gift to him, now a gift to us.

For my mother's 60th birthday, she told me she'd like to reflect on her life thus far. I'd seen books of this nature, in which the reader can fill out question to create an easy autobiography. After using reading lots of different reviews on these types of books, The Book of Myself stood out with the best ratings. I bought the book from another bookstore, and from just skimming through the book I loved its questions. Finally, I presented it to my mother at her birthday dinner. She beamed with excitement when I explained the nature of the book, and she repeatedly said it's just what she wanted. After the dinner, she immediately called her sisters and told them about the book. They said they would like one for a christmas present, and eventually have all their siblings fill out the book. In light of other deaths in the family, my elders were seeking ways to preserve their memories. They're looking forward to discussing the questions as a group, and recalling all the chapters of their lives. Also, my mom told her co-worker about the book, who in turn wanted one for herself! "You see," my mother said, "this book you gave me is really taking off."

I love seeing my mother's enthusiasm for the book, and she informs me of her progress in filling it out. She decided to type her answers to the questions, and she's saving her answers on a keepsake CD. My father and aunts will be doing the same, and we anticipate having a memory box full of these books and autobiography CDs! Overall, I'm so blessed to have stumbled upon this book, it seems like it's becoming an integral part of preserving family memories.

I purchased this book for my stepdaughter's 10th birthday. She is a great kid but has a few struggles with emotions and worrying related to her parents divorce. My stepdaughter is very creative so I purchased this in hopes it could be a tool to work out her feelings but also encourage her writing skills.

I have purchased several of these and others in the series for my children and as gifts. The artwork is interesting, the suggested topics are relevant to the age group, and it makes it more interesting than just listing what you did today. It is not dated like a daily journal, so you can use it when and how you want. I have also found that kids like these journals better than a blank book, which can be overwhelming. I wish I had this when I was a kid.

My daughter carries this with her everywhere and cherishes it. It makes her feel very special and I like how its laid out. Worth every penny I paid for it. I'm going to be getting a few more next year when my next oldest daughter turns 6 and for some for bday party gifts.

Got my son writing!.......2006-02-26

We're homeschoolers and my son would sooner pull his own teeth out than write. I bought him this book along with Dr. Seuss' My Book About Me. He carried them everywhere he went for weeks after the books came, writing in them in the car, in bed, at the table, at the store, etc. He was so proud of his entries he shared them with the rest of the family. It seems to have warmed him up to writing in general. I'm thrilled.

Good if You're Totally Stuck, But is That What a Journal's About?.......2005-12-06

If you truly don't know what to write about, turn to this. But other than that, I don't see why anyone would want it. To me, a journal is a place to write down your thoughts, feelings, memories, and just things you feel like writing. If you can only write about what the page you're on says to write about, what's the point? As a very wise person once told me, the only reason you should write is if there's something in your heart you need to express.

I love books for children, especially those that can inspire writing, creativity and interactive dialogue. Every young person should have a journal or diary at least once in their life, but this shameless journal ripoff based on Nick Jr. commercialism is nothing but a slick sticker activity book. Extremely juvenile in its approach it does not inspire young people to write about themselves and their world but merely respond to a network television's idols. If you really want to give your young ones an opportunity to enter the delightful world of journaling, seek out the young person's classic by Linda Kranz, "All About Me: A Keepsake Journal for Kids" published by Northland Publishing. This favorite among young people, by Ms. Kranz, now boasts a second "More About Me, Another Keepsake Journal for Kids" which lets your young writer explore their world and themselves even further.

Remember when you were 5 and thought that by the year 2000 you would be ancient? This book is a great way for any kid to look back in 20 years and laugh at life as we know it. It covers a variety of areas, vital statistisc, Y2K mania, favorite tv/books/music. Lots of room for pictures and written thought. I looked at a number of these kinds of books. This is the best.

The more I read of Miller's work, the more I like it. Like HST, Miller is a born curmudgeon, cynic, and rebel. I cracked up when his commander described him as "he'll never make general but he'll get you there and back." No grunt ever had a truer, more unconditional friend.

This memoir hit particularly close to home for me as it detailed the author's experiences as a warrant officer chopper pilot in Phan Thiet, Vietnam from May '68 to May '69. I graduated flight school in Jan '69 but ended up in Korea. This account showed me a lot of what I missed. Miller shared several photos of the Vietnam chopper pilot experience in his book. You can see more if you Google "192nd Assault Helicopter Company". I also recommend Googling "View the Wall" and searching for Arann and Thoman, Miller's comrades in the 192nd--a very moving experience.

Our country owes the Vietnam vet more than it can ever repay. In my estimate, the greatest of them are the ones who rejected the party line but showed up for duty anyway. A tip of the hat to Bob Miller.

Currahee.......2007-07-11

This pilot supported the Currahees with the best he had to give and has put the same into ths book. Agree with him or not, he tells it like it was and I'd be proud to ride with him anytime anywhere. I was there, too and he didn't skimp a bit on Blackhawk. My only disappointment was when it ended so fast.

I thought that it would be best to read this book while I am still a few years short of fifty. Early into the book I began questioning how much a reader could actually enjoy his reflection without being a fan of his music. The writing style closely follows his musical persona, and I fear that without that link it would seem like little more than a lot rambling on. However, for those of you that have enjoyed his musical style through the years, you will find yourself smiling throughout this book.

Good book to sit and read about the life a a singer who has done more on the outside than most would think. It's great to hear of his love for music, fishing, surf and planes I'm not quite sure of the order but loves them all, oh and family. If we all could be as talented and lucky in life.

Giving hearts open doors.......2000-11-06

This book had a profound effect on me. I don't totally agree with the first review on this page. Possibly the reviewer should read the book again since he/she seemed to miss the pivotal message woven throughout this book like a fine golden thread in a tapestry.

The solid footing the author stood on was to keep your heart swept out of insiduous practices like racial and ethnic intolerances that lead to atrocities such as the Holocaust. "Dust doesn't announce itself." she says as she likens our hearts to the apartment house of the next century. Be courteous to one another, follow the Golden Rule, and put this book on your list of books to read. You won't be sorry you did.
