A collection of pictures of Anarchist fighters against post-war Francoism. Includes biographical notes by Antonio Tellez. "The post-civil war Resistance was not wiped from memory. Customer Service in Health Care.......2007-08-13
So far so good, I have not yet finished this book, but so far it is a good read - very readable, and easy to read with clear messages. It is US centric, and focussed on the US healthcare system which is not always relevant to the UK system but nevertheless has some messages that are transferable.

Not a Very Good Reference Guide.......2003-04-25
This is one of the worst guides that I have in my collection of specialty coffee books. I rarely pull this book off of the shelf because it is just so poorly laid out. Some of the beverage recipes are good but for the most part I thought that this book was a waste of my time and money. Most syrup manufacturers will give you free recipes that are much better than the ones presented in this text. There are so many other well-written texts on the subject that if I knew then what I know now I would have skipped purchasing this book and saved my money for one of the better guides.
The best recipe reference ever written.......2001-11-29
We have used this guide as a base reference for making drink recipes for the past 4 very successful years. Our best selling drinks are from recipes in this book. I would recommend the book to any new coffee shop owner, unless you're a Starbuck's (aka Mcdonalds espresso bar)

Authoritative book, especially for those in coffee business.......2000-04-15
I'm not sure why the first reviewer was so disgruntled with this book. I am a long time coffee lover and brewer. I have served many kinds of coffee/espresso drinks to many people and recieved rave reviews. This book is highly entertaining. The Author teaches you about the "coffee culture" of Seattle and fills page after page with tidbits of trivia that coffee fans will find thoroughly entertaining. I am an avid reader, but also very selective and had no trouble reading this book straight through. For those of you who've stood at the coffee bar and asked,"What's the difference between a cappuccino and a macchiato?" this book will clear the air. He diagrams and plainly explains the exact makeup of each titled coffee drink. He even covers techniques for "decorating" the coffee before you serve it. There is a chapter of 123 pages of nothing but espresso drink recipes (incorporating liquers and flavored syrups) and Italian sodas. Each are listed alphabetically by their name (and some very creative ones, I might add). Also, each page contains between 7 and 8 recipes. If you love to try new things, this will give you tons of ideas. The next part of the book is filled with more creative ideas, brewing tips, trivia of coffee and how it's taken throughout the world and information on brewing with a variety of different private and commercial machines. Altogether, this is an excellent book. I believe it deserves more than 5 stars, but that's all they gave me.
this book sucks........2000-02-29
for anyone attempting to learn about espresso drinks, go somewhere else. This book will insure that you perpetuate the practice of making lousy coffee which has become quite popular in this country. There are some very well informed books out there, and this is not one of them. Save this one for the starbucks crowd.

Book Description
Recorded history is a finely-woven magic fabric of intricate lies about events predating the sixteenth century. There is not a single piece of evidence that can be reliably and independently traced back earlier than the eleventh century. This book details events that are substantiated by hard facts and logic, and validated by new astronomical research and statistical analysis of ancient sources.

Calculations are only as good as your numbers.......2007-08-03
Yes, we can all agree that mainstream history is nearly 100% BS due to politics, economics, ego, problems with dating techniques, and various conspiracies. Agreed. But, I've been researching the distinct possibility that human history (in terms of civilizations) are much more ancient than we've been told, so coming across this book was very interesting to me. I wondered how Fomenko could be wrong (if at all) because he is very persuasive in his presentations. Then it dawned on me. If at previous times in prehistory, due to the various catastrophies that are well documented (comets, asteroids, planetary disruptions, plasma discharge, pole reversals, etc) the Earth was in a different position in relation to the sun, different tilt on its axis, different orbit, different rotation (in terms of velocity and DIRECTION), and the continents were in different positions, then would this not cause the ancients to see the sky (constellations) differently? In other words, is Fomenko making erronious assumptions about the physics of the Earth in pre-history, which then corrupt his data with regards to dating the relevant astrology? The last event to seriously disrupt our planet occured roughly 3500 years ago, according to other good researchers, so is it possible Fomenko has been confused by this? The vastly different physics of our planet in the not so distant past may explain this confusion, which is not to say the "mainstream" version of history is correct; on the contrary. I am not an expert in these fields, but wanted to see if this idea could spark discussion.
Pants on fire?.......2007-07-19
Will people ever read before spamming? Yes, Jesuits could not rewrite world history alone, they had help. Anyway, Dr Prof Acad A.Fomenko does not point to jesuits as the driving force of world wide history manipulation in published volumes 1,2,3;, actually he barely mentions the poor devils. Check it with 'Search inside' feature, please. China is rarely mentioned either, in fact, Dr Fomenko is completely eurocentric. Right, his theory contradicts all mainstream schools of history, because in their actual state they are all built on blatantly erroneus chronology. You don't need a mysterious cabal (conspiracy) to falsify history, the falsification is its modus operandi. It is inherent to history(ians) to falsify (distort) events, as it is inherent to humans to boast as it is inherent to power (authority) to legimize itself by referrring to glorious past made to its own order. Dr Prof Fomenko and team have identified scores of instances of such manipulation in Russian, European, etc.. history, and delivered valid statistical proof thereof. His own 'reconstruction' is completely another story. Forget c14 as a valid method of dating. W.Libby has initially discovered a brilliant method of INDEPENDENT dating. Too bad, c14 method has become a joke after a forced marrige with dendrochronology with consensual chronological scale inbuilt. Radiocarbon method can't stand blind tests, but is so very productive as a rubberstamp.
Accepted History & Chronology Must Be Changed. .......2007-04-09
There is no doubt that history as most know it is a sham, & institution's version of History both University & Church is fradulent & inaccurate. Everything was established with an agenda, The real "Dark Ages" are now when we have access to incredible amounts of information past authorities & more important 'common folk' didn't have but our institutions & educators are slow to evolve because of what has ignorantly & arrogantly been taught for too long. This is on many subjects not just Chronology.
For anyone to question "Why would a Mathematician have anything credible to say of History?" The answer is from Dr. Fomenko's preface in the book: "It would be worthwhile to remind the reader that in the XVI-XVII century Chronology was considered to be a subdivision of Mathematics." These volumes could possibly be some of the most important works to date & should be read by everyone with an interest in History, especially professors & educators who have a duty to the public. I have read both books & must say that 'Chronology 1' has some very eye opening & revolutionary information. Even if these volumes are part true the implications are profound & opens the doors to further investigations & questions which must be done. I speak several different lanquages & must say the logic Dr. Fomenko uses with "inflection" of words & words being read from left to right in one region & right to left in another then written backwards, the removal of vowels & get down to basics of words, or different cities & locations having the same name etc. is correct. Vowel usage has always been optional & varied, actually complicating linquistics & study. The first thing one has to understand is that words never had a fixed spelling in history like we do now, the spelling of words was mutable & regional, as well as names & titles of people were vast, varied & changed, NOTHING WAS FIXED or understood linear. Matters of Life & Death as well as financial profiteering yesterday & today were & are made with ignorant, illogical & conspiratorial views of history & reality, it's time people get closer to the Truth & society collectively grow up.
Very Interesting.......2007-03-07
It is a good proposal and I believe it will mature into something even better in the future. I think it deserves to be read.
History as Science Fiction.......2007-01-10
Anatoly Fomenko has written a very intriguing book, full of pictures, charts, and computer 'proof' of his thesis: backwards of AD900 we don't really know what happened or when. Between AD900 and AD1600 there is more certainty, but there is still a lot of fuzzy ground, and things don't get reliable until we get past the 1600's where the printing press made it very difficult for the perpetrators of this timeline manipulation to change anything that had been committed to print. The Dark Ages did not happen. Books were burned for a reason. One organization has doubled the actual length of its existence by expanding the real chronology. Read why.
I had always wondered why Christ died about AD33 and yet men waited until the 11th century to form the Knights Templar, the Cathars, etc and go after the Holy Land by force. Why the 1000 year gap? Turns out there wasn't more than a 10-12 year gap and he proves it using astronomy. This also implies that the planet is not as old as we have been told, and current Christian and other creationist scientists are already championing that idea without being aware of Fomenko's book. The two groups, creationist scientists and the Russian mathematical analysts corroborate each other. Fascinating.
Of course, all this flies in the face of what we have been told traditionally is the 'proper' chronology of western civilization, and most readers will experience 'cognitive dissonance' in reading this book. It means that our history going backwards from AD1600 becomes progressively more incorrect and unreliable until it cannot be trusted at all... in the space of 700-800 years.
Naturally, the curious, open-minded reader will want to know WHO did this, WHY, and did any of the events we think of as really ancient ever happen?
Dr. Fomenko is a respected scientist/mathematician at Moscow State University who has already answered these questions to the satisfaction of his initially skeptical colleagues. Most of them are now believers, a few still refuse to believe (the usual diehards), and of course the western press has ignored Fomenko's work -- for obvious reasons when you read the book. The ones who perpetrated this chronology ruse have a lot to answer for. They are still with us. That's why this book is a well-kept secret.
I gave the book a 4-star rating because I was unable to check out some of his claims; those I checked were as he said. But if even 1/3 of his claims are true, this punches a big hole in what we think is our history, the meaning of western civilization, our educational process (for repeating the ruse as gospel), and the trustworthiness of the organization that perpetrated this ruse, well-intentioned or not.
This book relates to current research into a Young Earth paradigm, to John Keel's discoveries about our planet, and Fr Malachi Martin's insights (in his now out-of-print books). We are indeed sheep who are manipulated and kept ignorant -- for a reason. While knowing what these men have to say may be the "booby prize" (as in: 'what can you do with this knowledge?'), it will provide interesting reading. Didn't someone say: "...and the Truth will set you free."?? For you to judge if this book contains the truth.

Book Description
Although most people physically leave home by their early 20s, emotional separation from one's family is a more difficult process that can continue for a lifetime. Now available in paper for the first time, this acclaimed book addresses the struggle of adults to establish autonomy without sacrificing family connections. Donald S. Williamson presents personal authority therapy, an approach designed to simultaneously foster individual development and family-of-origin intimacy. Therapists are taken step by step through conducting individual, couple, and small group sessions that culminate in several sessions with each client and his or her parents. Writing with sensitivity and humor, the author demonstrates effective ways to help adult children construct new personal and family narratives, resolve intergenerational intimidation, and enjoy healthier, more equal relationships with parents and significant others.
Customer Reviews:
Personal Authority.......2000-04-27
This book has been most helpful for me in developing a better sense of myself by exploring my place in the family system in which I grew up. In particular it enabled me to claim my own authority in relationship to my parents. Williamson's theory is that it is essential to find a way of eliminating the inter-generational hierarchical boundary that is created in the parent-child relationship in order to fully develop our sense of personal authority. The goal is to find a means to begin to relate with parents as peers once we have attained adulthood. When this is accomplished, paradoxically the intimacy deepens as this new relationship develops.
Book Description
In his seventh decade and still going strong, Bob Dylan is the ultimate singer-songwriter - hugely revered, baffingly idiosyncratic, an enigma and a music legend responsible for a staggering number of classic songs. Now in it''s second edition, the Rough Guide clarifies the mysteries surrounding the man and the music, looking at the lyrics, the influences, the legends and the musicians he worked with. Features include: The Life - from Minnesota to Manchester, from the Albert Hall to the Never Ending Tour, The Music - 50 essential Dylan songs and the stories behind them and Dylanology - the movies, the sayings, books and websites.
Customer Reviews:
Not Too Bad.......2007-07-01
Somehow the author missed the essence of what Bob Dylan was for many of us and I suppose that is why the book was kind of disappointing. I had a rather old-fashioned teacher who used to say that boys needed heroes, and now that I'm old I see that that is quite true. All the talk about individuality, becoming who you are and so forth, is really irrelevant for most people: most of us need role models, someone to imitate, to play the role the saints, Jesus and Mary in Christian mythology played centuries ago, ideals and aspirations, at least until you can accept what you are. Bob Dylan was this kind of mythological figure for me and a lot of other kids my age. He was a kind of modern saint, something to aspire to be: charismatic, poetic, seemingly free of norms and conventional opinions, someone devoted to a higher calling. Of course, in many ways he wasn't and isn't, but he was and is genuinely inspired, and that seems to me much more interesting than the mundane account of his marital problems and all the rest.
And of course, I would have liked the book better if I had agreed with the author's musical assessments. I don't agree that Dylan's best work was the three albums beginning with Bringin' it all Back Home, though I guess many people are with the author here. I think the albums beginning with Oh Mercy to the present are the best. But more importantly, I think he has missed the significance of what Bob Dylan brought to American music: intelligence and deep feeling. If you listen to Leadbelly's version of House of the Rising Sun, for example, and compare it to Dylan's, there is a definite qualitative difference. This is true of a great many songs: he transformed them into much more meaningful works. This is true of his original songs as well all of which, of course, derive from something else, everything in life does. "Creativity" isn't really making things from nothing as the "Creator" may or may not have done, but more a searching for expression, a matching of inner feeling to outer form. Bob Dylan has extraordinary capablities in this regard. Personally, I think that ought to some extent exempt him from the run of the mill rock n roll, Entertainment Tonite bio, but hasn't here.
Anyway, he is undoubtedly a celebrity and subject to the rather superficial examination celebrities get, and that is what this is. It's not awful, but it's not anything like what the great body of work he has given us deserves.
Rough Guide to Bob Dylan 2.......2006-12-28
Anyone who has even the slightest interest in Bob Dylan will enjoy this book. It is a very easy read and a complete resource for all fans of the Great One. The sources are clearly noted and the writer goes into great detail. I loved the book.
Definitive Work.......2006-10-15
I reviewed the first Edition of this book and gave it five stars. But this edition is even better. Rare that a second edition can eclipse the first, but in this case a magnificient job was done at Rough Guides. This book is the definitive work (in compact yet detailed form) on Bob Dylan. It includes in it's over 320 pages minute details about Bob's life and songwriting, places where he lived, social circles and you name it. There are many details and summaries tightly packed in this book that border on encyclopedic accuracy. It is larger than the first edition, which is more of a pocket size. This edition carries much more detail, including information since Bob Dylan's book Chronicles 1 came off the press and the DVD No Direction Home's release. For the serious Dylan fan, there is hardly anything missing here, from his formative years to how songs were written, friends, acquaintences, web sites, albums and even hard to find facts. This Rough Guide book, along with Dylan's own original work, will find a place of authority in years to come.
Customer Reviews:
An excellent starter book on Dylan.......2005-07-14
This is a great book, espicially for someone who has just discovered Dylan. It's packed with info on his personal life and music. A fun read.
Surprisingly Thorough.......2004-12-26
I bought this book at a bookstore recently after a brief look at it and was surprised at the awesome amount of researched material in it from song backgrounds, personal information, history and hard to find facts about his personal life and what influenced some of his songwriting etc. This frankly is the BEST one volume I have found on Bob Dylan, and I couldn't recommend it higher. I have been a Dylan fan since 1964.

Sensitive search for family roots.......1999-04-12
As a South African living in Europe with a similar and yet in many ways different background, I am able to identify with Mr Jacobson's sensitive account of his search for his family roots in Lithuania. The construction of the work itself is a masterpiece: first his perception of Lithuania from South Africa, then his childhood in South Africa and then the encounter with Lithuania, where he finds nothing concrete and yet conveys the atmosphere of what he finds so movingly. The touching letter to his grandfather and his dream at the end are full of feeling and yet not in the least sentimental. This book has deeply impressed me and given me a wonderfully tragic picture of Lithuania.
