But it is the promise that he will smuggle out a small book printed, by Charles, inside the prison and share it with the world, which tears at his conscience as long as he lives. The last chapter of this book is that small book containing the word-for-word deathbed confession, fifty-eight years later, photographed and published for the first time, just as Charles Pilarski translated it. In this way, Sgt. Alvin W. Shipman finally keeps 'A Soldier's Promise.'

Secrets of a Beverly Hills Cosmetic Surgeon is a must for anyone seriously considering surgery. The internet is good 4 general info, but if you want to know about choosing the right DR., evaluating before/after photos than this book is 4 you. It just brings up things, that you wouldn't think of, but is essential 4 having a successful surgery and making informed decisions.

"Face it" - you get older every day because the clock marches forward. Aging and getting on in years is not the problem. BUT ... accumulating wisdom doesn't have to show on your face! Thanks to advancements in cosmetic procedures, diet and exercise, facial toning exercises, lifestyle, etc ... aging gracefully doesn't have to look like a shriveled up flower. Cosmetic surgery done within reason is a great option to keep feeling your best, as long as you don't confuse physical beauty with self-worth, it makes sense to look as young as you feel. You won't look 20 when you are 50 ... but you will look your best.

after researching dr.kotler and finding out how good he was,i went on amazon and found his book and all of the great reviews.being in a new state and not knowing anyone or anything i needed all of the help i could get.what a great result!you absolutely must read this book before doing anything.i am now 16 days post surgery and i am very pleased.i had a rhino and an upper eyelid.the only reason i gave the book a 4 rating is because the pain and healing are really underplayed by everyone including dr. kotler.although everyone is differant it was very painful and healing is slow.but i have a perfect nose and my eyes are great.you must,i repeat must read this book before having surgery.

I wish I'd read Dr. Kotler's book prior to having surgery. If I'd known half the important information in this book, I would have been better informed, researched differently, chosen a more appropriate doctor, and, ultimately, avoided the poor cosmetic surgery I received.

Dr. Kotler's book describes how to make the necessary choices when considering cosmetic surgery. His book steps the reader through the process of choosing and consulting with a qualified doctor; explains common surgical procedures and their distinctions, the viewing of before-and-after photos, and the necessity of computer imaging; clarifies how to assess surgical costs; covers considerations for operating facility choices, the administration of anesthesia, and the after-care patients should expect; as well as treatments for aging skin, FAQs about surgery, and so much more. Additionally, there are accompanying commentaries and before-and-after pictures from actual patients.

This is an easy to read book that covers all the fine points of cosmetic surgery. I spent many months researching cosmetic surgery and doctors before choosing a surgeon and agreeing with the procedure techniques he would use. Even with my careful study, there is so much that Dr. Kotler's book educates the reader on first, that I didn't discover or fully understand until after undergoing my own surgery.

Enhancement of one's personal appearance through cosmetic surgery should be a good thing, not a tragedy. The risk of not making an informed choice is too great. And you will not find many doctors who will fully explain their procedures, take the time educate you, answer your questions, or even tell you what questions you should be asking.

Dr. Kotler's book should be required reading for any one considering cosmetic surgery. It will make you a better-educated consumer and allow you to make the most informed research to choose the right cosmetic surgeon.

Serve Death By Chocolate.....They'll Love Ya!!!.......2002-08-19

I was kind of a food snob until I saw Mr. Food hawking this book on a shopping network. I phoned in my order and upon receiving this collection, I decided to try some of the recipes. My parents came for a visit one weekend and I treated them to Death By Chocolate. Well, by the time they returned home, they had purchased both this book and a trifle dish for that dessert! At work, the Applesauce 'n Spice Bread and Blueberry Crisp were particular favorites. A colleague and I are catering a luncheon on the first day of school for our staff and Death By Chocolate is on the menu. The real beauty of the book is its simplicity. The recipes have few ingredients, all readily available and take little time to prepare. And the book is not just about dessert. Sections on appetizers, soups, poultry, meat, fish, veggies and bread are also included. I particularly loved the Chicken Breast Scampi. If you love simplicity and flavor, not to mention the many compliments that will follow each recipe, give this book a try.

The essential cookbook.......2001-03-21

I have several cookbooks but when it's time for something new, I open up Mr. Food. There are two recipes in this book that are worth the price alone, "Fancy Fast Chicken" and "Macaroni Holiday". Macaroni Holiday is made with fresh mushrooms, celery, onions, macaroni, and cheese. I add a little Gorgonzola and halve the cheddar to give a more piquant taste to the dish. FF chicken is made with boneless skinless chicken breasts, mushrooms, cream of chicken soup, white wine, Swiss cheese, and stuffing mix. Sounds wacky doesn't it, but...put those ingredients together in the right combination and watch your guests beg you for more and the recipe. Those are just two of several great recipes in this book. What I love about Mr. Food's book is that you can easily substitute ingredients for lowfat cooking. Also, the recipes are easy and fast! Alot of these dishes can be made ahead and frozen for a quick reheat during the week. My husband and I eat out too often. We are staying home and cooking to save cash and calories. Honestly, I prefer anything in this cookbook to the cuisine at any chain restaurant.

I received this cookbook as a wedding gift 5 years ago and it is the one cookbook that I use most often. The recipies are practical, easy, and I have gotten compliments on everything I have made from this book. It also often gives variations of the recipies for those who like to be a little more creative. I like this book so much that I have actually bought several to give to other people as gifts.

This cookbook is different from any others that I've ever seen. The theme is the 50's, 60's and 70's, and the foods are ones that families would have eaten in front of the TV together. Many of the recipes are adaptations of foods that were found in the old-style TV dinners. Reading this cookbook really took me back in time!

WARNING: For the most part, these are not diet recipes!

This software is so poorly designed that it can not be used effectively. There are no tools or editing features and the accesses for menues or menu items is extremely limited. In short, the item is a waste of one's money. There is no way I could recommend it to anyone.

I found this book hard to put down. Very Good....

Precision Coin Grading.......2006-09-23

The 2nd Edition of "PCGS Coin Grading" is an excellent reference. It is critical and required reading for beginning and advanced coin collectors. As I am the author of 7 coin books since 1977, I appreciate the difficulty of attempting to explain the subtle and challenging differences between "a few minor marks in the main focal area" (MS65 grading standards, page 28) and "a few minor marks or one or two significant marks with hairlines" (MS64 grading standards, same page). As a complete reference to the condition (grade) of all U.S. coins, this book does an excellent job. However, as noted on page 7, with reference to the 11 grades of Mint State coins (MS60 to MS70): "It would be desirable to have more space for them on the grading spectrum to reflect their degrees of difference more precisely." This is why I am now writing a new book about Precision Coin Grading that will supplement the PCGS Coin Grading guide by explaining how to determine the "decimal point grade" of your coins. (MS64.5, MS65.8, MS66.3, etc.) In today's market, there can often be a price difference of hundreds or even thousands of dollars between a "just made it MS65" and a "just missed MS66." (MS65.1 vs. MS65.9.) Whether you are buying or selling coins for personal enjoyment or investment, collectors need to know whether they should consider upgrading a coin of "the same grade" (like snowflakes, no two MS65 coins are absolutely identical.) You also need to know if you have a "high end" or "PQ" (premium quality) specimen of a numerically grade coin, from Carson City Silver Dollars to U.S. Commems to St. Gaudens Double Eagles. Rare coin expert Jim Halperin has also attempted to address this issue. I've known both Jim and David Hall since the 1970's. Both are brilliant numismatists who have made valuable contributions to the hobby. Coin grading will always be an art as well as a science, and the 5 critical grading factors (surface, strike, color, marks and eye appeal) may never be determined by a computer, as my good friend Jim suggests. In the meanwhile, the more you know, and the more you learn, the better. As a tool to educate collectors about coin grading, The PCGS Coin Grading guide should really have better photos. Fortunately, many such photos are available on the websites of both PCGS and Heritage. If you don't own this great coin book, and you plan to spend more than $100 on coin collecting in your lifetime, buy this book immediately!

A Lot of Information in One Place.......2006-03-21

You know what they say: "buy the book before you buy the coin." I bought a few dollars on ebay before I got this book. After reading the book and testing my grading skills for a bit, I know that I overbid for what was offered.

No big loss, but you don't have to make the same mistake. Learn the rudiments of grading first, then (if you so desire) bid on raw coins.

Pictures.......2006-03-03

This book is pretty good except that it is in desparate need of more pictures. It completely leaves out the Morgan Dollar, probably the most widely collected of all US coins. Also, it is a 2004 Edition, so the prices are not up to date. It is better when combined with another source book like the 2006 Official Black Book.

Please note: This book was released only last month so I'm not sure how relevant the reviews below are. I bought this at ANA's unveiling and must say that I believe that if you are going to buy one and only one book on US coins, this is the one that you must buy. It is great because it is chockablock full of utterly usable and vital information on all of the things that you are interested in when it comes to grading coins and indeed in determining whether you are dealing with true coin of the realm or a counterfeit. What makes this particular edition particularly cogent is its section on the State Quarters with photos to help with grading states MS-60 and above. This book also has an excellent section on Commemoratives which is a big help. Not all of the photographic plates are in color which is a shame because the black and whites are of absolutely no use when used to demonstrate the difference between an MS-67, and MS-66 and an MS-65: the photos are just not intense enough for one to really be able to see the flaws the editors are attempting to point out. There are color pictures which are a great help in making this comparison but they are reserved, predictably, for high end gold coins. My major beef with this and indeed all coin books to date is that the lowly, unloved Jefferson Nickel gets short shrift. Yep, barely two pages of commentary and no really great photographic grading aids. This is an especially jarring ommission in light of the newly released so-called Peace Nickel which, ironically, was launched at the same time as this book. Anyway, but for the grainy black and whites and the unforgivable nickel ommission, this book rates Five Stars. Buy it in any event.

Attention all Lisztians.......2002-11-27

If you are a Lisztomaniac, this is for you. It is a book that is very difficult to put down. Liszt's life reads better than a novel, and Walker's narrative flows superbly. He has investigated every biographical avenue and brings the Weimar of the 1800's to life.

On the negative side: There are copious footnotes, which often stray off the subject, whilst others belong to the main text from which they divert. As the book is meant to be a work of scholarship, the amount of opinion and speculation which peppers the book is also rather annoying. One has to be very cautious in separating Walker's own views from the first-class academic research that he has done.

Nonetheless as this book covers the most prolific period of the composer's life, you can do no better than read Walker's account to dicover just who Liszt was, his importance to musical history and the enigma of the man himself.

Fantastic Source about a Fantastic Man........2000-01-04

I have been a great fan of Franz Liszt for quite some time, and Alan Walker brought the composer to life in his trilogy of books about the famed musician.

This volume goes into great detail about Liszt's life after he decided to end his life as a virtuoso, and become a composer. His love for Princess Carolyne became apparent in his music, and in his interactions with others.

While it is not as descriptive as I would have liked regarding Liszt's symphonic poems, my favorites among his many works, i still felt that this volume is well worth every penny I spent on it. Definitely a worthy buy for anyone interested in music and what makes up a composer.
