excellent.......2003-10-07
I found this memoir to be truly engaging. The author gave me a glimpse into a time I knew only through history books and movies. His personal account of his life through the WW2 years and beyond offered real insight into the strength of character that brought his generation through such tough times. His sense of humour, personal insight and wonderful positive outlook made this book one to remember. I highly recommend it to anyone who wishes to learn more about the life and times of one individual, like many of his generation, who not only lived through WW2, but who went on to lead such interesting and rewarding lives after the war years.

Book Description
Having worked as a newspaper reporter, a manager of a food cooperative, a coordinator of a rural health service and a VISTA volunteer, Janet Rose thought her next step was to build her practice as a psychotherapist in a large southeastern city. In the summer of 1986, however, almost overnight, her life took a radical turn. Following inner mystical guidance, she turned west, to the mountains of Colorado, to find God more deeply. In her quest for genuine wisdom, compassion and service, she left behind the vestiges of her previous life to pursue a path of renunciation and to apprentice herself to a spiritual teacher. How she made that choice, what that commitment entailed and how it changed every aspect of her life is what this book is about. Despite the long-standing tradition of the monastic life in many religions, and the relationship of master and disciple, the media today paint a negative, one-sided view of any situation that smacks of "cult" or "guru." Rather than hiding from the controversy, Janet Rose encounters it head-on and presents a real-life view of work with a teacher and participation in a spiritual community. This clearly written and deeply personal book presents an alternative to the status quo of security, success and power.

The perfect companion to the bestselling The Mother of All Pregnancy Books

This handy organizer makes it easy. Laminated for durability, wire-bound to lie flat, and featuring section dividers for easy access and rounded corners to reduce wear and tear, it includes helpful checklists, handy reminders about key events and milestones, space to record important details every week, guidance on every prenatal healthcare visitand, of course, Ann Douglas's inimitable tips and advice on all aspects of pregnancy.
Customer Reviews:
Good book for list people.......2007-09-12
I bought the pregnancy organizer because I really like having lists and being organized. This book does exactly that and is really helpful, you do need a separate book though if you need more substance.
Not what I expected........2007-07-13
This was a present from my mom. It was nice, but not what I expected.. Too cold, like a calendar, while I expected something more warm, to express my feeling on my pregnancy.. I used for a couple of weeks, and then bought a lovely diary to keep my thoughts there. This book just felt to clinical.
Hope this is useful, have a great day!
Useful Charts.......2007-06-01
I like the way this is organized. I am a very organized person. I am keeping a journal for the baby but in that one I son't want to add all the things that make me miserable but in the organizer I feel like I am being scientific rather than a whiner.
The best feature of the organizer is the symptoms chart, it shows which thing is normal for which month. I am at week 11 and exhausted and seeing that in the second trimester the fatigue and nausea goes away gives me hope.
Great Organizer for Mothers to Be.......2007-03-23
I am a very disorganized person and this seems to be a very easy conscise book with important tips & questions to ask, without being overly riddled with information. Because lets face it. If you are a Mom to be, you are reading every book, magazine and pamphlet you can get your hands on to make sure you are getting all the info. Well I found this had information in the appropriate places. It's small enough to keep in a bigger sized purse, and it's again, not censory overload.
I think it's an asset to anyone who is planning a pregnancy or is in the very early stages of pregnancy.
Great organizer, keepsake and reference for subsequent pregnancies!.......2007-03-17
I used this organizer with my first pregnancy and it was wonderful--it had everything I needed in one compact place. After my son was born, I found that I loved looking back on my weekly journal pages and remembering milestones and significant happenings during his pregnancy. We are pregnant again and are using the first organizer to remind us when we can expect to hear the heartbeat, do our ultrasound, etc. I have ordered a second organizer for this pregnancy and am enjoying it very much--especially knowing how it will help me relive details in the years to come. Pregnancy is such a wonderful time and, yet, details really do get hazy! Love her pregnancy and baby books and love this organizer.

Customer Reviews:
I've made 75% of the recipes in this book..........2007-08-16
And they are ALL delicious!! I can't rave enough about this amazing beginner's cookbook. The recipes are excellent, and absolutely anyone will be successful cooking with them. I bought this book in 1994 when it first came out and made "Your First Dinner" (baked potatoes, roast chicken, a big green salad, homemade dressing, and baked apples), and I was so incredibly proud of myself (prior to that I was pretty much the ramen noodles and take-out food queen). I'm living proof that by the time you work your way through this cookbook, you will have a very respectable cooking repetoire!
The author has a wonderful tone, friendly and confident without being condescending. The layout is great, every recipe fits on one or two pages and the directions are crystal clear. I've never even lamented the lack of photographs in this book, which is highly unusual for me since I am a visual person.
Some of my favorite recipes that I am still using 13 years later are: cold asian noodles in peanut butter sauce (although we use soy now due to kids with peanut allergies); roast chicken; roasted red peppers; dressed cucumbers; caesar salad; potato salad; sweet corn soup; linguine in white clam sauce; steak in cabernet sauce; meatloaf; crunch-tender cabbage; apple crisp; and Brenda's brownies.
A++++
Awesome Find.......2006-01-07
This book is an awesome find. I discovered it over seven years ago when I was in college and still refer to now that I'm more experienced with cooking. It explains the basics and assumes that you know nothing. It leaves nothing to chance and most of the recipes have a short list of ingredients so you aren't stuck with extra stuff that can't be used again until you repeat that dish. If you are debating between this book and another, this is the one to buy.
Helped Me Change My Life - Really!.......2005-07-09
This book has been wonderful! As a 29 year-old bachelor I have never learned to cook and lived for years on pre-made foods. As I'm settling down now with my love, I decided I had to learn to cook. But in the past I found cookbooks and friends who tried to show me to cook very frustrating because rather than truly teaching, they assume that you know a lot of things and haphazardly tell yuo what to do on a certain recipe.
I wanted to learn to cook in a methodical well thought out way from the bottom up. This book was the solution! It starts with descriptions of essential cooking preperation techniques and what ingredients and tools you should have in your kitchen. It goes through very simple recipes and gradually builds to harder recipes. Each recipe explains the fine points of how to prepare it. In other words, it really "teaches" you to cook rather than "telling" you how to prepare a recipe. And it does it well!
I only found two small downsides. As I went through the book, sometimes I craved a few fancier and stronger flavored recipes, but the recipes were all very enjoyable and designed at an appropriate level of difficulty. It also would be nice if they had pictures to illustrate and inspire.
Over the last six months, I have gradually gone through 80% of the recipes. I'm excited becasue some of the best recipes are still to come, and now I'm looking forward to what cookbooks I'll start studying next!
This book was what I needed to help me go from a non-cooking bachelor to a cook for life. I hope it will help you too.
fantastic.......2004-07-19
This is the best cookbook I have ever owned. It was one of the first cookbooks I bought, and my experience with it (rave reviews) convinced me cooking was not hard and I could master this art and really go to town for guests. I have just emerged exhausted and humiliated after exploring the high end, fancy, haute-cuisine cookbooks in an attempt to impress, and after disastrous attempts at bistro cuisine, realize that its back to the basics with Elaine for me- her recipes are delicious, foolproof, and because I grew up refusing to learn how to cook, a true lifesaver.
For beginners AND the "well-seasoned".......2003-05-22
I've been cooking for almost 20 years (in university, I lived with two guys who couldn't boil water without detailed instructions, so I did all the cooking), and I've successfully pulled off small-scale dinner parties (up to 8 people). So I know which end of a melon-baller to use.
I still found this book helpful - it demystified some things, and gave me a few new ideas - and a few more rave reviews at Easter dinner!
The only thing this book lacks (and it's probably too big a topic to cover) would be a brief examination of some of the more popular spices, what flavours they impart, and what foods they go best in/with.
VERY strongly recommended!!!
Book Description
For more than two hundred years, American women have been recording their hopes and dreams, their fears and frustrations in the exacting stitches and exuberant designs of their quilts. The American Quilt shows how these virtuoso textiles, long appreciated for their bold graphic appeal and naive charm, are also a fascinating reflection of cultural and social attitudes, painting an indelible portrait of our nation’s history and the remarkable women who lived it.
America of the 18th and 19th centuries developed at a breathtaking pace, and the changes that marked each era were inevitably mirrored in the prevailing quilting styles of the period. The American Quilt marks the first time the evolution of quilting has been traced chronologically, identifying the fabric, design, and construction hallmarks of each period and showing the genesis of beloved patterns and styles. A thorough discussion of America’s textile history, complete with a fabric time-line, provides further insight into antique quilts, offering important clues to their age and provenance.
The American Quilt charts the course of quilting in America, from the earliest whole-cloth and broderie perse quilts through the emergence of the block style in all its regional and popular permutations. Special sections are devoted to quilt subgenres, including Amish quilts, Baltimore Album quilts, mourning quilts, and African-American quilts, that are highly prized by collectors today.
Quilt collectors will also find helpful information on displaying, storing, and caring for quilts, as well as an exhaustive directory of dealers and quilt collections that have been updated for this edition.
Filled with more than 250 photographs of rarely seen quilts and delightful evocations of quilting’s colorful past, The American Quilt is a thought-provoking and important step forward in our ever-expanding knowledge of this remarkable folk art.
“[The American Quilt] offers a profusely illustrated survey that ingeniously weaves the threads of America’s social, political, economic, and industrial history into the evolution of the quilt-making arts.” —New York Times
“A longtime dealer of antique quilts, Kiracofe has given us a guide to evaluating and dating old quilts, and has included methods of tracking down the makers, and advice on their cleaning, storage, hanging, and restoration. A pleasure for the generalist, this book will be indispensable to serious students and collectors.” —Washington Post
“A must for any serious student of quilts.” —Quilter’s Notebook
A “classic quilt tome.”—USA Today

Phenomenal reference book for quilters and historians.......2007-06-05
As a history buff, Civil War reenactor, and (very) beginning quilter, I wanted a basic reference book to help me learn about quilting styles and techniques from the Colonial through Victorian periods. This book provides that information and much more. In simple yet evocative language the authors lead us through the development of American quilting and discuss how social, economic, and political circumstances affected how quilts were designed and constructed over the years.
This book is a fascinating glimpse into the past, tracing the evolution of our country through the stitches of quilting. The supplies and tools that were available at any given time, together with the imagination and ingenuity of women at each point in history, resulted in the emergence of new techniques and designs. It's amazing to page through this book and see how something as seemingly simple as a quilt block takes on a whole new meaning in the context of its time. For example, in the 1840s, a time of migration to the West: "As family and friends were uprooted and separated from one another, a great many women carried quilts composed of blocks with precious messages from those left behind, whom they would likely never see again."
Chapters include:
Fabrics - fiber production; weaving and dyeing; fabric printing; fabric designers
1750-1825 Preindustrial America - how the settling of the colonies related to trade and in particular the production of fabric; seaports; the role of women in the New World; quilt styles of the period including whole-cloth, medallion, and mosaic piecework
1825-1850 Rise of the Cult of Domesticity - how social and economic changes were reflected in the fabric arts; women working in the mills; friendship and album quilts
1850-1875 A Tranquil Nation is Ripped Apart - reform movements; effects of the Civil War; children's and dolls' quilts; new block designs; indigo and white designs; influence of the sewing machine
1875-1900 The Grand Epoch - prosperity in the centennial period; effect of availability of education; crazy quilts; log cabin quilts; decorative styles shown at the Centennial Exposition of 1876; Hawaiian quilts; mourning quilts; fundraising quilts
1900-1950 A New Century of Quiltmaking Begins - influences of the World Wars, Depression, and the New Deal; small piece "competitive" quilts; fairs and exhibitions; African-American women's quilting; Amish quilting; flour and feed sack quilting; 20th century quilting personalities
Additional resources include tips on dating and investigating antique quilts, how to conserve and maintain antique quilts, where to view antique quilts, and more.
'The American Quilt' has hundreds of beautiful color plates of quilts, quilt blocks, and textiles. This is a lovely and engrossing book for anyone interested in American history or women's history, as well as in quilting and other fabric arts. Highly recommended.
Invaluable Addition to your Quilt Library.......2007-05-27
The benchmark of quilt book histories. Anyone interested in the history of quilting in America should include this book in their library. The photographs are striking and the accompanying explanations add to the reader's knowledge of the quilter's stories. The author's have given the quilter a priceless resource to which I refer often.
Wonderful book, wonderful service!.......2007-05-13
Thank you so much for the fast shipment and the wonderful book!!!
the american quilt: a history of cloth and comfort 1750-1950.......2005-07-22
This book expands on the history of the quilt with other interesting events in the era. If you like quilting and history you will enjoy this book.
For quilt enthusiasts and collectors--a valuable volume.......2004-10-07
The quilt, as a craft, is a well-explored area for authors. Quilting, you needn't be told, is enjoying a huge popularity with television shows, websites and shops for fabrics in almost every town. Even a friend of mine in a small village in the Black Forest of Germany quilts enthusiastically and wanted to visit American quilt shops on her first trip to the USA.
If you are a quilt lover, you can profit by reading author Kiracofe's examination of quilts, from a study of fabrics and dyes, to the change in pattern popularity over time. For example, postage-stamp quilts, or quilts made of the tiniest squares, were in vogue as a sort of stunt or show of skill.
African American quilts are an important part of quilt history and have unique and very characteristic design as well as marking the course of history from slavery to freedom. The Baltimore area, near where I live, is known for a style of applique quilt that bears the name of the city. I myself own a quilt from Kentucky that I now believe dates to the 1930's; I was able to research more about the type of print used in the fabric by reading this book.
This book is beautifully photographed and rich in historical detail. If you know a quilter or if you are a quilt enthusiast yourself, this volume will not only delight but prove useful in research and education.

Hollis Lee was born on a Texas farm and has spent much of his life operating many others. He served for 10 years as an engineer with the Department of Agriculture, where he prepared educational programs for extension agents. This book is a product of this experience.
Book Description
During the last few decades the study of the family has flourished, and in the process many myths about what life was like two or three centuries ago have been debunked. For example, contrary to popular belief, we now know that most women in the preindustrial West did not marry before they were twenty-five. Most households consisted of no more than four or five people, usually including unrelated young people working as servants. And perhaps most surprising of all, multigenerational households were not very common. Pulling together much fascinating information about the family in the preindustrial Western world, Beatrice Gottlieb presents every aspect of this rich subject with clarity and fairness. Her generously illustrated book deals with the households of the wealthy and the poor, courtship and marriage, the care and training of children, and the bonds (and strains) of kinship. The matter of inheritance receives special attention, as it played a substantial role in a world permeated by rank and status, and its importance gave the family a peculiar social and economic significance. With a focus on the ordinary people whose everyday lives strike a responsive chord in all of us, as well as brief appearances by famous people and important events in history--Henry VIII's divorce, Benjamin Franklin's apprenticeship to his brother, and Mary Wollstonecraft's death in childbirth--this remarkable, eminently readable work brings to vivid life the wives and husbands, servants and masters, children and parents of a not too distant past.

Unimaginable Life Book Review.......2007-01-03
I am an avid Kenny Loggins fan and had heard about this publication and knew I had to have it. I found it a bit slow in parts and really not offering enough substance about Kenny and his career. I did not come away with a wealth of information that I had hoped would be in this book. It's definately not a bad read, if you like Kenny Loggins, but I found it to be a bit disappointing with the material presented.
it's still a good book even though they broke up. .......2006-10-16
hey kenny and julie are human indeed. i think this book was actually lovely to read, even if they did breakup. My only struggle with this personal revelation of their relationship is there is a certain amount of responsibility when you share this information with people. it influences people in there relationships which is what i am sure they wanted to do as they thought they had "THE ANSWER". Who knows how many people decided to leave relationships to search for this kind of love. Then kenny and julie break up . i would just like to know why they made the choice to divorce. i just don't think i would ever run away from what they had. i know i know spirit led them in different directions, but i just think there is more we need to know.
A Wonderful Teaching.......2006-04-08
I am very surprised to read some of the negative reviews of this publication, especially since this book/audio has helped and touched so many on such a deep and conscious level. (I highly recommend the audio version where they lecture about the book).
One reviewer writes that they were wrong to publish this because they didn't stay together "forever." Another reviewer writes that everyone feels this way when first falling in love.
To begin, Kenny and Julia were together for almost a decade and had 2 children together when they wrote the Unimaginable Life. This was not something they wrote and released after first meeting and falling in love. This publication was manifested much later in their relationship. It is also my understanding that they were together for approximately 15 years before they did finally split up, which is a pretty good run in my book.
Why does our society only class a successful relationship under the terms of "forever?" What is "forever?" What does that mean? If you are truly walking a spiritual path and you have sought out this book to assist in your healing process, then you should be able to understand that having only one romantic partner throughout your entire adult life is just flat out unrealistic. Only when we release this "forever" fairy tale and learn how to live and love consciously with the romantic partners we encounter on our path, will we find true joy, safety (and perhaps longevity) in our romantic relationships.
Kenny and Julia writing this book and then splitting up some years later, in no way implies failure. The words they write and speak have moved me so deeply and have been so helpful in my healing process, it simply does not matter if they eventually went their separate ways. The magic of their publication lives on and continues to help others on their journey.
In fact, in their audio lectures, most of what they talk about is being honest in our relationships. They teach us how we can use the romantic relationships in our life to grow and heal. Not once did they paint an unrealistic fairy tale of "forever." Quite the contrary. Only two people as intelligent, loving and conscious as they are - could have delivered this publication by keeping it real. They lifted the veil off the "forever" fantasy that this society is so caught up in and they teach us how to look at ourselves and our partners, honestly, truly and lovingly.... warts and all!
I highly recommend this book to anyone walking the path. Whether you're single or with someone, the Unimaginable Life will definitely allow you to re-think some of your old behaviors and thought patterns. Those who choose to criticize, are simply not yet conscious enough to understand and truly hear its message.
Unimaginable life, indeed.......2005-06-07
I bought this book a number of years ago. I'm a big Kenny Loggins music fan. I thought the book might offer some insight into developing relationships that work. He seemed to have found some way to make it work, although I have to admit to being a bit uncomfortable with Kenny's public pronouncements that he's found THE ANSWER. Now I just learned that he is divorced from Julia. Marriage is hard work, and I don't judge him for the failure of his marriage. But it may be a cautionary tale to the rest of us that we have to take advice from others about relationships with a grain of salt. Despite all of Kenny's song lyrics and prose about finding success in relationships, in the end he couldn't make it work forever either.
That doesn't mean marriage can't succeed, but we might do better to study couples who have been together for a lot more years to get a glimpse into what works and what doesn't.
Book should be listed under the "kooky" category. .......2004-09-24
Kooky alright, mainly because of her, it seemed okay enough at the time, but we really did not want to know all that stuff. Way too much time thinking, journaling, etc. Kenny is an excellent songwriter and musician and has helped a lot of people through his songs, but the book is just strange.

They Broke Up !.......2004-07-17
Oh, here's another compulsive chatter tape of two people who think they've rediscovered the meaning of life and then feel compelled to take it on the road... only to have the relationship fail a few years later.
Puh-leese.
Guess what? Relationships are hard work.
Take a pass on this until you are a die-hard Loggins maniac.
Beautifully Honest, Insightful and Enlightening.......2001-07-29
Kenny and Julia have a lot to teach us about ourselves, our demons, our relationships, honesty and intimacy. Their courage in unvieling their intermost beings, their torutures and their triumphs is both touching and enlightening.
I congratulate them for writing this book and I thank them for serving the world by reminding us all that LOVE can endure, grow stronger and richer each day even when faced with jealousy, insecurity ,childrearing and the mundane.
A Guiding Star!.......2000-12-28
I loved this tape set because Kenny and Julia's philosophy and real-life experience with intimacy is exactly what I want and believe in. I know it exists, and the "truths" they speak are where we are headed in the area of relationships as more people become conscious and tuned into greater truths rather than myths we're socially conditioned to believe. The old way of thinking does not work anymore, and I believe divorce is the growing pains of leaving behind the old marriage archetype and beginning to embrace the new marriage model of true partnership that includes recognizing (becoming conscious of) the idea that "problems" are really meant to be dealt with head on because they are growth and discovery opportunities in disguise. People like the Loggins are modeling for us the new relationship model, and we're lucky to have them as guides. I applaud their courage in sharing their journey while they are very much in the process of figuring it out. Thanks for showing us what's possible!
save your money!.......2000-02-21
I own all of Kenny's CD's and think he is a fine songwriter but this audio (as is the companion book) is so immature and distructive to those needing realistic, mature help. I found it a bunch of narcissistic baloney. Stick to the music and leave the marriage advice to professionals.
a life changer!.......1999-09-11
I had the privilege of seeing Kenny and Julia Loggins live in San Diego presenting this exact program, "Creating the Unimaginable Life." It was a memorable afternoon, filled with humor, truth telling and enlightened wisdom. I purchased this audioprogram of the event several months later and was so pleased to find that the recording is of excellent quality, true to the magic of the day.
I have listened to this cassette series again and again. It has enabled me to move forward in the direction of my dreams, to create an intimate, deep and lasting relationship with my life partner. Kenny and Julia openly share, in a most refreshing way, their personal struggles and the challenges of creating a melodious marriage. The candor and heart centered truth with which they speak to each other (and the audience) is to be commended. It is not often we find people of the Loggins' caliber who are willing to "tell all", not to gain notoriety, but to gently guide with life lessons that may help other seekers.
A unique feature of the program is the live audience interaction. I was pleased to see that this segment was not edited from the tape. The questions and responses were excellent, delivered from the heart with moving emotion. Not the pat answers we hear so often from celebrities who wish to hide their true persona from the public. What you get here is REAL. Love and passion. Frustration and conflict resolution. Committment and compassion. The audience feels and witnesses first hand what Kenny and Julia mean by BIG LOVE and gains a deeper understanding of how that can be created by each one of us today.
The Loggins' encourage the listener to begin the process of personal growth which will naturally progress into a desire for conscious relationship. There are many practical "how to's" including a list of 10 "Truths" which characterize their beliefs about conscious love. Among them are, "Love always heals," and "Love is always to be trusted." The program works through the Truths and encourages the listener to risk it all for deep and abiding love.
Another bonus of this audiocassette is that the entire program is interspersed with Kenny Loggins' wonderful music from the CD of the same title, "The Unimaginable Life." This is a real treat for Loggins' fans. His new music reflects the deep introspection and spiritual growth that the man has engaged in over the years and also serves as a testimonial to his deep and abiding love for Julia.
It is rare that such a jewel of a recording comes along in the literary world. I purchased it as a momento of my attendance at the presentation, yet today, I consider it to be a key volume in my personal/spiritual growth library. For all of us who are in love or hope to be in love, this program is a companionable resource for the journey to enlightened living.
And by the way, when you get your copy, make sure that you write your name on it in big, bold, black letters. I guarantee you'll be loaning it to everyone you know!

Loggins's book, cowritten with wife Julia, shares its title with his album, both of which illustrate the couple's belief that love means falling in love again every day. Told with lyrics, poetry, letters, and journal entries, it is an intensely personal exploration. Says bestselling author Julia Cameron of the Loggins's The Unimaginable Life: "It takes courage to write a book like this--and courage to read it."

Co-Committment: the road to healing issues together.......2000-12-28
This book has transformed more than a dozen lives that I personally know...including a corporate trainer and his wife. Kenny and Julia show us their mundane, common fears, as individuals and a couple. They are eachother's mirror, making infinitly clear their shadow side. Instead of hiding, shrinking and running away (which they both did), they return to stick it out, work it out, and discover Spirit's answer to the questions that come up for all of us committed to co-create BIG LOVE! Are you up to playing a BIG GAME? The game of BIG LOVE? Then The Unimaginable Life will inspire, direct, and affirm that hearts knit together can stretch, bend, enfold and embrace one antoher. Shadows come up, get healed, and deliberately create a new space for the Light of Love to be at Home. Relationship is the Laser modality for experiencing our higher purpose and reason for being on this planet.
Pathetic.......2000-02-21
1 out of 2 marriages end in divorce and now I know why. Children being raised by children needing someone to tell them to grow up and accept responsibility for decisions made. Codependency reigns in this book!
Truthful and honest.......1999-12-14
I've read this book four times because it has helped me immensely. Recently, Big love entered my life and my life is Kenny and Julia's life. I could have written this book, that's how close to home it all hits. A section of the book, "Our Truths" is amazing. The love, trust, truthfulness, and sincerity with which this book is written is amazing. FEAR is the reason we lsiten to our heads and not our hearts. When we follow our hearts, fear no longer is in control. It's taken me a long time to understand this, and I'm not quite there, but I inch closer each day. God (Spirit) wants us to have love in our lives. When we look at things that way, we have the capability to view Big Love as a gift. The key is to be open to Big Love...even if you are in a relationship. God has his own plan for each of us and all plans lead to love if we allow it and follow our hearts.
Thank you Julia and Kenny for having the courage to help.......1999-11-06
The book is so real. Filled with the ghosts and scars of the past and sorting through their feelings and emotions with poetic love inspired prose, bearing their souls. I wish that they taught a workshop for a weekend somewhere. In fact, I mentioned it to the program director of the Omega Institute that he ought to extend an invitation to lead a seminar. You are pathfinders on the path of love.
Powerful New Way To Love !.......1999-09-12
This is the most powerful book I have ever read on love and relationships.Within these magical pages rest some very fruitful, practical ways to find, and keep, real love. I devoured this book with a ravenous appetite until I got close to the end;at that point I began to slow down my reading and ration out just a little bit each day- I didn't want it to end! Do yourself one of the biggest favors of your life and read this heartful story.

An Education for a Christian .......2006-02-05
As a Christian I had very little understanding of the traditions of Judaism. I had difficulty understanding why contemporary, intelligent, independent women would follow such strict rituals. Bt weaving her interesting personal story and academic study into this story Vanessa Ochs provided me with a start of understanding. Very interesting, enjoyable and entertaining.
A well written and enjoyable book about Women's Torah study.......2003-05-13
A very well written and enjoyable account of a woman's experience trying to learn Torah in Jerusalem. The author portrays other women's attitudes towards Torah learning (which has traditionally been reserved for men throughout Jewish history) as she tries to formulate her own attitudes. The reader travels with Ms. Ochs as she goes from the highs of grasping a complicated Torah passage to the lows of realizing that some Torah ideas are just plain sexist (in her perception).
Life changing.......1999-11-18
As a theology minor during university, I was assigned to teach this text for a women in northern american religion class. It so moved me, that not only did I go on to study Judaism, both on my own and with a rabbi, I also converted. Truly amazing.
