All those who want to know the extent of the tragedy that the Islamic revolution has caused in Iran should read this book. Here the story of one family becomes the hsitory of a whole nation in its darkest years. The mullahs wrecked Azar Aryanpour's life and scattered her family all over the world. But she has been able to rebuild her life and , like more than four million other Iranians who had to leave their homes, has achieved succes and serenity.A great lesson in human endurance which shows that even the most inhuman systems cannot silence the human voice. Great Book.......2001-03-11
Azar Arayanpour's book is a great book to read. It is gripping and gives a very lucid description of the events that occurred during the revolution. The only problem is with regards to the layout of the book. The photographs in the middle of the book punctures the suspense that she builds initially. Azar Aryanpour also describes the emotional turmoil of her mind during the years of revolution in an excellent manner.

Book Description
The Krag rifle and carbine were the first smokeless powder, magazine loading arms used by the United States Army. It was adopted from a Norwegian design in 1892 and reached the troops starting in mid-1894.
The American Krag Rifle and Carbine provides the arms collector, historian and target shooter with a part-by-part analysis of what has been called the "rifle with the smoothest bolt action ever designed." Each of the fifteen models of the American Krag rifle and carbine are described in detail. All changes to all parts are described and matched to serial number ranges. A monthly serial number chart by production year has been devised that will provide the collector with the year and month in which his rifle or carbine was manufactured.
The mystery of the so-called Philippine Constabulary rifles is solved and the "School" rifle is introduced. A new and complete exploded view is included as are instructions for assembly and disassembly of the rifle and carbine.
It was the ideal time to introduce a new rifle. The U.S. Army in the 1890s was a peacetime organization. The frontier had been settled in the late 1880s and the Army had been reduced in strength to not quite 18,000 strong, and was scattered halfway around the world from Plattsburgh, New York to Anchorage, Alaska to Honolulu, Hawaii. All but two troops of cavalry were still stationed west of the Mississippi River and no military formations in regimental strength had been assembled since the Sioux Wars in 1876-1877.
The Krag was the first precision-machined, small caliber, magazine loading rifle adopted by the U.S. Army. This meant that the production facilities and work force had to be completely rebuilt and reorganized. In just four short years, the entire U.S. Army, both mounted and dismounted branches, were completely equipped with the new rifle and carbine. So successful had been the design and initial production phase, that only minor changes were made to the rifle and carbine afterward.
The combination of Spanish imperialism in Cuba and the sinking of the battleship, USS Maine, led the United States into a short, sharp war in 1898 that gave way to a longer, more bitter fight in the Philippines. In 1900, Chinese revolutionaries styled the "Boxers" threatened to murder all foreigners in China. The U.S. Army and Marines brought their Krag rifles to mainland China in concert with forces from other European nations and quickly relieved the siege of the Foreign Legations at Peking and then helped clear the country of insurgents.
Even though the Krag only served the U.S. Army for eleven years, it did so admirably and saw much hard fighting. It only gave way to the Model 1903 Springfield as the latter rifle could be loaded quickly and easily with a five round clip.

This book is truly comprehehensive, covering traditional and alternative family situations, medication options, causes, symptoms, solutions, and the range of postpartum reactions (from "baby blues" to psychosis). It's got helpful references and resources at the back of the book. There's also a risk profile questionnaire, a chapter for dads/partners, and a number of case studies. The only thing I would fault this book on, and I consider this to be a major flaw, is that *it doesn't have an index*. That's why I give it four stars instead of five. Still, it's a very helpful manual for moms, their mates, and their care providers.
A must-read book for all ob's.......1999-03-28
All ob's should read and recommend this book to their patients suffering from post-partum depression. When I when through post-partum depression, this was the only book we could find on the subject. In fact, I gave my doctor his own copy! It was very comforting to read about new moms feeling just like I did, especially when one can think they are going crazy. I was also fortunate enough that one of the authors, Dr. Diane Sanford, lived in St. Louis. My doctor got me in to see her. With her help and her book, it probably saved my life.

Tawdry, lurid gossip.......2006-06-10
Chaos as Usual contains interviews from almost everyone in the Fassbinder pantheon. Unfortunately, they consist mostly of gossip and depictions of a disturbed individual. There is almost no insight into Fassbinder's art or creativity, nor much into his inner life, I feel. Stories of his debauched life and emotional terrorism are well-known, so much so that they provide a critical cliche. "Oh, Fassbinder, the cruel artist who manipulated his actors so." This merely diverts from the power that his films have. What use is this collection of chatter?
I must admit, however, that certain interviews provide some detail about his early involvement in Munich's theatre scene, but that's about the sum total. I can only recommend this for completists or masochists.

"Conversations" is less a critical analysis of Fassbinder's work and more a testimony to the sex, drugs, and scandalous mystique that surrounded him.
Witnesses include Hanna Schygulla, Michael Ballhaus, Juliane Lorenz and dozens more who were part of the Fassbinder inner circle.
Not a dull moment on this journey into the joy and terror of Fassbinder.

The book is quite moving. It is written from a different perspective. Amalie masqueraded as a Christian Pole. Norman fought in the partisan movement (the underground). Their first meeting was most unusual. Norman had come to kill her (he thought she was the enemy); instead he ended up marrying her. A very fresh look at a dark side of this century.
It's a factual, & extremely intriguing story of 2 survivors........1999-05-06
This book is an amazingly interesting and intriguing book which i strongly recommend to those people who enjoy love stories with a sad story behind it. Also i recommend this book to anyone who enjoys holocaust novels. The sad memoir touched my heart and i know it will to yours as well.
