This was written by three of my former professors at the School of Taxation at the University of Florida. The text mirrors why I enjoyed their classes and took 38 hours under them. It puts a rather complicated IRS Code interpretation into easy to understand practical applications.

Difficult To Understand The Main Issues.......2005-06-19

This text includes cases that involve a lot of the accounting numbers without a lot of explanation about the tax principles that were used in deriving the numbers. The best supplement I have found is the Eighth Edition Federal Income Taxation supplement by Stephen Lind and David Hudson put out by the Black Letter Series by the West Group recommended by my professor which was written by one of the authors of the casebook.

This book, published as an accompaniment to the big daddy compendium titled 'Standard Catalog of World Coins' is given over to a slew of issues of "novel non-circulating coins, including fantasy issues, micro-nation coinage, medallic types and coins of pseudo-etats." As such, one will find issues from places as varied as 'Atlantis,' the Republic of China, Great Britain, 'Sealand' and Gardiner's Island. Some of the coins listed will have been issued, as in the Republic of China pieces during tumultuous, or perhaps I should say interesting times as a nascent although ultimately unsuccessful state struggled for legitimacy; others were officially issued by recognized and sovriegn nations but not for circulation; some were produced by entities claiming sovriegn status on somewhat shaky legal gounds, such as the above-mentioned Sealand which occupies a World War II anti-aircraft platform in the North Sea; and finally there is a handful of issues that have simply been made up and struck from whole cloth in a manner of speaking,in the monetary equivalent of a vanity press publication. There are other sub-categories but I'm sure you get the idea. The book describes the physical characteristics of the issues, tries to establish mintage dates and numbers, and metallic composition, and sometimes give some background information to boot. The resource is perfect for one attempting to find a little information about something he has found and is curious about. Unfortunately, it is no good for one who wants more than a little information as the authors give nothing more than thumbnail sketches when they give any background information at all. I think the book really falls down on this point. In addition, the author/editors neglect to tell the public what criteria were used to include and exclude various issues. I know almost nothing about this genre but even I immediately questioned some of the entries found in the United States section. I wish that a certain set of rules had been followed or perhaps that the book had been broken up into the various categories so that one would know pretty soon whether these were issued as modern fantasy nation pieces or as once circulating unrecognized states pieces, etc. I bought this version even though there is a later edition now available for the simple reason of cost. This edition can be had for very little money and it is worth every fantasy penny spent, in my opinion.

A first approach for ECU listings.......2006-06-12

The book has many pictures and the coin price evaluations seem to be up-to-date. I bought this book because of its ECU coin listings.
Some countries are well covered like the Netherlands and Spain but on other countries most Ecu coins are missing.
What is really bad is that there are no Pre-Euro coins in this book. Therefore i give only 3 stars.

Unusual World Coins too often Unusefull.......2006-05-14

I knew the second edition and hoped this 4th edition would be much more than that first attempts to cover this endless territory of unofficial coins. The reality I found disappointing. There seems no clear line in choices which "coins" are in the book and which were not included. 80 year old issues that should be in this catalogue are missing; recent purely commercial issues that could be ignored are included.
Prices of the more modern issues are often only the issue price. That doesn't help to find a real market price.
All together I would say in some cases this book can be really helpful, but often you will find nothing about the coin/medal you're looking for.

A Marked improvement over the Third Edition.......2005-08-13

Positives include the addition of many new images and coin listings.

Negatives include the use of many of the same old and tired images from Edition Three. Value estimates for the private issue patterns I am interested in are drastically below current market values.

All in all though, an acceptable reference book and the only game in town with regard to the world coins presented.

Dear Meagan was an interesting read regarding Fragile X. The form of the book is through letters written by two women, both of whom have two sons with Fragile X. It is very personal, and the letters give information and research-based facts regarding Fragile X; however, it is intimate as it describes family situations, concerns, and details.

Revealing and inspiring look at what it means to parent a disabled child.......2006-09-29

I've just listened to Mary Beth and Megan on the Diane Rehm Show and was very moved by their openness in describing their sons with Fragile X and their life with them, how they parent these sons, searched for the best education and medical care for them, and how they have found meaning and joy in their sons, despite their severe disabilities. Their book is an inspiration to all parents with disabled children.

This is the book that all of the families in the Fragile X community have been waiting to read. These letters between two women tell us the story of their personal griefs and triumphs; but they tell us so much more. The chapter called Dropping Bread Crumbs explains Fragile X for the layman more clearly than you've ever heard it explained before. We will all relate to the devastating news of the diagnosis in the chapter called Diagnosis and Dealing. And we will admire the courage of Kelly Randels' chapter on the hearbreak of facing an abortion. This is an incredible book. Mary Beth met Megan at a conference for parents of children with Fragile X, and decided to write to her. Mary Beth wrote to Megan, and in her letter, she quotes Margaret Mead: "Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful, committed citizens can change the world." And, indeed they have. They have also exchanged these simple, yet powerful letters. -- letters that talk about daily life, advice to each other, their family histories, the nature of Fragile X, the pain of Mother's Day, the nature of what is a home -- an endless array of interesting subjects. But these letters reveal so much more, namely, their courage, their disappointments, their tenacity, their truthfulness, their endless ability to love. It is a book that shows the human spirit at its best and is an inspiration to us all.

I was reading the reviews on this autobiogrophy when I came across someones review speaking of Marilyn Manson has no charactor. This bothered me so I thought I would write a review on behalf of his defense. First of all, Marilyn Manson does not blame his parents; infact, he has been known to have a very good relashinship with both mother and father. In my opinion, he has moved on from the terrible brainwashing class's christian shcool put him through. Now, he simply writes about how stupid america really is..which is 100% factual. He is a amazingly talented musician that deserves much more respect*and yes this book is great,so is long hard road out of hell..buy!!*thank you
