The Great Naval Hero of New France and Early Louisiana .......2004-09-15
Pierre LeMoyne Sieur d'Iberville is a major figure in the history of both the Hudson's Bay Company (he was the arch-nemesis of the HBC, raiding their major forts and almost extinguishing their influence over the fur trade) and Lousiana - where, during the reign of the Sun King, Louis XIV, he established several strategic forts and played a key role in the founding of New Orleans. This is a very good book of his life in the French Navy and the French Colonial Service, extremely rewarding reading for anyone with an interest in New France and early Louisiana.

For a non lawyer and starting a partnership, this book was great for me to start to get the tax aspect understanding. The book constantly references the statutes which is good for me so I can cross reference.

Very well written; I have several books by Falloon and enjoy them all. Great pictures and interesting data. Some of the tables are a little hard to decipher, but with time and patience it can be done. I would recommend this book to any Ducatisti or Ducatista and any follower of Falloon. I got this book from the Library to preview, and had to have it.
The cutting instructions are GREAT and it gives you choices of 6", 9" or 12' blocks.
My only problem is that it takes me longer than 20 minutes to pick out which fabrics I want to use in the blocks.

I ordered this book from a quilt shop and am planning on sending it back. While it claims to be 400 quilt blocks, there are many repeated blocks with simple color changes. If you eliminated the duplicate and triplicate blocks it would probably be less than 200, then there are some really ugly blocks - they almost look like mistakes. Well, I didn't like it, anyway.

Not my kind of cards.......2006-04-28
I found the card designs too busy, but my style is more along the lines of Simple Scrapbooks. These cards take longer to make than advertised and a lot of the designs only seem to work with specific patterned paper and lots of fancy/expensive embellishments. I am more simplistic and minimalistic, but this book would probably be great for people with different styles.

Busy grownups generally appreciate quick ideas for kids to be creative. In 20-Minute Crafts, part of Kathie Stull's Hand-On Crafts for Kids series, parents learn they can provide a few general supplies like foam sheeting, wooden cutout shapes, craft sticks, paints, Styrofoam balls, and chenille stems, then let youngsters go to town constructing an assortment of useful and just-for-fun projects. Masks, frames, fans, pencil toppers, decorative magnets, holiday and party decorations, and many other kid-friendly ideas abound. The volume could have used better organization: the table of contents is bewildering, and there is no immediately discernible sequence of projects. The overtly commercial angle is a bit off-putting too: each project is "sponsored" by a major craft manufacturer, though the materials lists do call only for generic supplies. Also, the book claims to be geared to 7- to 12-year-olds, but most kids at the upper part of this age range will consider themselves too sophisticated for most of these projects. Our daughter has been using this book almost exclusively to make projects for her summer craft camp for 2 - 7 year year olds. The crafts are wonderful, easy, inexpensive to get supplies for, well laid out and in a word the book is wonderful!

Really useful book........2002-02-27
Great tips, for sewing machine and serger, for a reality-based sewer. (So many books are for people whose lives seem to consist of nothing but sewing, not for the rest of us.) When she says she has tips to speed things up, she just doesn't mean fast - she means fast and thorough. So it's not only fast, it's better. The only problem I had was sometimes the illustrations should have been numbered to coordinate with directions and weren't, or else there were steps not illustrated (though well described) so I was sewing "by faith in the word" of the directions and it turned out right. It is well illustrated and there is always something to learn and try on almost every page.

I've been sewing for 40 years. I read this manual like a novel. It was so helpful to me to becoming more organized. I teach young girls to sew, and teaching the organization methods by Nancy has helped them see how much easier it is to sew when you have everything you need in one place. NO more looking for the missing buttons, zippers, etc. Nancy is such a talented individual and I'm grateful for her expertise. Anyone who buys this book will benefit from it. Enjoy!

I've been sewing since I was 15. I've taught others how to sew. This is a good common sense book and I think it is helpful for all skill levels. After turning a few pages, I'm wanting to sew!

This an exciting book, and one which will make sewing possible in your busy life. Included are new techniques for sewing better as well as faster. The instruction sheet that came with your pattern doesn't have the best plan for sewing your next garment -- this book does! Very useful

Not a good bet for the beginning quilter.......2003-06-02
This is one of the first quilting books I purchased and I did not like it. In the section describing supplies, it seems more like an advertisement for the brands she uses and is sponsored by. Someone buying supplies following only her directions may spend money than they truly must in order to begin quilting.
Each project is only offered in one size, and those sizes are not even terribly practical, unless you want to wallpaper your house with hanging quilts.
She identifies each step of the process with an increment of time - hence the name 10-20-30 Minutes - which is not particularly accurate and not helpful to the beginner quilter.
Plus, the projects are not organized or identified by skill level - the beginner quilter who picks up this book should not try a kaleidescope quilt as one of her first projects! I also did not like the organization of the chapters and the projects chosen seem quite random.
One final note: Ms. Zieman seems to think this boook can be used as a part of her modeling portfolio - there are many many pictures of her thoughout it. I bought the book to see quilts, not her!
This may be used as a minor introduction to some quilting techniques for the experienced crafter, but for someone like me with little craft experience who really wanted to dive into the world of quilting, it is NOT the right purchase. A better choice is one of the easy level Quilt in a Day books.
Not for the novice.......2003-04-01
Not a bad book -lots of nice projects -but instructions could be clearer -and they seem to like to "advertise" certain brands and products in this book, instead of giving alternative (and cheaper!) methods. Still, I found this book to be enjoyable and will certainly be making a project or two -the instructions for quilting with fleece were particularly interesting to me.

I purchased this book for my mother who loves it. She created a beautiful quilt for me two years ago, and I absolutely cherish it... it is the most beautiful quilt. She found the book extremely helpful for new quilters and continues to refer to it.

'Letters' of the Great Teacher of I- Thou Dialogue .......2006-06-13
In a comprehensive review of this collection of Buber's Letters, Werner Dannehauser points out one great paradox of the philosopher of Dialogue and 'I- Thou'. He apparently was not the greatest listener in the world. Nonetheless this collection contains not only Buber's letters, but a sample of the letters written to him. Perhaps for Buber himself the most important were those written by his great collaborator in Biblical Translation, Franz Rosenzweig. Buber courageously calls for the most candid and serious criticism of himself, and thanks Rosenzweig for giving it. Rosenzweig and Buber were divided on the question of the vital significance of Halachah for Jewish life and continuity.
Buber's world is a vast one intellectually, encompassing the greatest minds of his time. He is masterly and confident in tone , and words of sudden depth and profundity emanate from these pages.
This is an invaluable collection for all those who take interest in both Jewish and general intellectual history.

This gem is worthy of 100 stars. Bubar's early writings, the work with Gustav Landaur and Franz Rosenweig in synthesizing "Ich und Du", as well as his editorial comments to writers of Der Jude. The forward by Paul Mendes-Flohr serves as an excellant background.As vital today as he was at the birth of the State of Israel.
