I got this for my daughter. It was just what she wanted. I got it quickly and it looked in brand new condition.

4 out of 5 stars A rare glimpse into the mind of a brilliant writer..........2006-07-14

Ray Bradbury has perhaps been the most author who has most influenced my own writing. When I saw this book, I had to have it. What a wonderful glimpse into the mind of a man who can turn language into music, who can make prose sing like poetry. From the first time I checked out one of his books at the library--when I was around nine or ten years old--he taught me that it's possible to transcend the the borders between genres. What a wonder to get a glimpse into the years that make up his life. The only reason I put four instead of five stars is that I'd like to see a true autobiography, in his own words, that looks over the eighty-plus years he's walked the earth.

3 out of 5 stars An Intimate Portrait in His Own Words........2006-01-19

This book is filled with fascinating stories of his life, his writings, the towns he loved, Paris & Los Angeles, in a series of short familiar essays "in which the writer draws on personal life experience, ideas and the world around him." The one he wrote in 2004, "Remembrance of Books Past," is especially interesting. It's about a fan letter from the great French Renaissance art historian, B. Berenson, and his novel FAHRENHEIT 451, which connected them fifty years ago into a remarkable friendship.

He wrote THE MARTIAN CHRONICLES in 1944 as a collection of stories. He became intersted in the Red Planet as a ten-year-old in Waukegan, Illinois, out looking at the night stars and the "special red fire burning in the dark" sky. He collected Buck Rogers comics, and his favorite was "Buck & Wilma on the Red Planet." He read Edgar Rice Burrough's THE GODS OF MARS. Then, after finishing school, he got a job working on an astronomical program for the Smithsonian Planetarium. He studied some photos of the mysterious universe taken by Lowell Observatory. The started pondering on the Big Bang Theory and the impossibility of so simple (and complex) a creation for our world.

In 2000, at the age of eighty, he remembers how all this early sky watching adn deep thinking had evolved into his science fiction writing. When he was twelve, he became fascinated with the pterodactyl and Tyrannosaurus rex dinosaur ride at the Chicago Century of Progress Fair. The 'Sinclair Oil's frozen-in-place paper-mache prehistoric monsters were on the world's first animatronic display. The moving platform provided a four-minute jaunt back to the Past.

First, he's soared into the future in his imagination toward the cosmos. Using the Grand Canyon as foundation for Space Station #1: Earth, his 'Chronicles' took him first to Space Station #1: the Moon. On to #3, Mars; then take off for the whole Universe. Our Space program since the 1960s has taken us there and back, now we're on a mission to Pluto, the last unexplored planet in the solar system.

When he fell "backward to the future," the dinosaurs "delivered me to tomorrow in ways I could not imagine." The memory of walking backward through Chicago's multimillion-year remembrance enabled him to write the screenplay for 'Moby Dick." From there, he was commissioned to develop a building at the New York World's Fair in 1964, with a ride through America's history. He was asked, "Can you create a four-hundred-year history of America in seventeen minutes flat, with a full symphony orchestra?" He was delivered "to the topmost interior of the United States Pavilion, where, gliding on a circular track as big as a football field, he wept in disbelief that by long ago stepping in reverse, he had fallen into Now."

That led into the grand Disney offer to develop the Epcot Center. Walt's Imagineers had a 50 million-dollar building to transform into the world of tomorrow. "Can you write a two-thousand-year communication history in twelve minutes flat with a full symphony orchestra?" He'd made a journey from cave to Ben Franklin's lightning shocks, to Apollo's Moon and beyond. He dedicates this volume "with love to my friends, Loren Eiseley and Aldous Huxley, whose essays showed me the way."

1 out of 5 stars What A Crazy Book.......2005-11-08

My report was done on Bradbury Speaks Too soon from the cave, too far from the stars. At first this book looked very interesting. It said it would talk about space and how we would get to it and how far have we really come from earlier man. But I was proven wrong by the book. The book discusses Bradbury's life and how he met important people and interviews that went into the stuff described but it was really not at all about the future and space. That was the first sign of trouble.
I then began to actually read the book. Oh boy was that hard. The context of the literature is so hard to understand. This was one of the most challenging books I have ever read. It wasn't hard language it was just the way he used it. I struggled all the way through this book just trying to understand what the heck he meant. When I finally did start too understand the book was still a huge bore.
All he would write about was himself and for all I could read about this book it didn't say anywhere that this was an autobiographical book. It says that the stories are written by students and journalists that have Bradbury. But they all sound like they are his words. Like that they are all in first person and they don't come from an interviewer's point of view. This really ticked me off. This book was down right hard.
Now the stories themselves were really difficult. He wrote as if he had no personality. Giving only facts and making the stories dull and uninteresting. Half of them I couldn't even understand what they were about. They are so factual and have absolutely now pizzazz to them. This book gave me a sense of that no one knows what's going to happen to the human race. The book made me both sad and crazy. Crazy because he can't go directly to the point with out having a confusing remark that sent you off another road of thinking. So you would forget all about what you just read and have to start all over again. This is a book that requires too much attention from one person. All the stories talk about is how he met important people and how he likes the rain. Witch is really stupid. The book followed nothing from what you expect it to be. I would now read it if I were you.
If you want a really good book about the future past and present don't look here. But if you are looking for a dull boring something you would read if you had to this would be the book for you. I lost interest in the book since the first page but I had to keep going because it was for school. Other wise I wouldn't bother with the book. I mean even the really weird Hitchcock films were better that this book. I would sit through one thousand Star Wars Episode I movies if I could not read this book again. I would not suggest this book for my life!

5 out of 5 stars For Bradbury Fans.......2005-11-04

Reading these essays, anecdotes, love letters and diatribes is like sitting in the room with Mr. Electrico himself. For Bradbury fans this is a sweet bottle of dandelion wine from the vintner himself. Much less formal than his usual writing, but much more personal because he just shoots from the hip here, and from the heart.

3 out of 5 stars Nice read, but.......2007-08-09

RAY BRADBURY: over the years has been writing about computers and why they are not creative and why they restrict creativity...

He wrote, in his little collection of essays, BRADBURY SPEAKS: "To test my notion, plant me in a room with two hundred chaps, at two hundred computers, give me a number two Red Ticonderoga Pencil and ten cent Red Mowhawk pad and I will outthink and outcreate the whole Goddamn bunch."

Of course, this is a lot of Hoo! Hah! So Ray Bradbury with his pencil and paper is going to sit back and knock off a work of art that will rival SHREK? I'll venture that a man who cannot drive a car, refuses to drive one, is not competent to discuss technology. If he doesn't know how to turn on a computer, he should not criticize what he fails to share and experience.

Of course, a Bradbury fan will applaud this weird statement without thinking. It would sound good on a stage, delivered to a crowd (which it was), get a thunderous round of applause, move the crowd and make everyone nod in approval, but this kind of rabble rousing doesn't carry far, and doesn't reach out on cold print. It just sounds absurd. A computer helped create the book that was published that has this message in it. And when you see it in print, it sounds real dumb. And how are you reading this review?

There are times when being a Luddite isn't worth it. Perhaps in days gone by, the poets complained that when epics were written down, they lost the life they contained. But they were not forgotten. The Maori of New Zealand were disappointed that the young wrote down the names of the elders, instead of committing them to memory. They were not lost or forgotten.

Time will go on, the passions for art will change and how it is created.

And the luddites who cling to old ways of creating may be really losing the thrust that thier writings could give because they cannot change.

Bradbury has been making more absurd staements as he grows older, but this is to be expected. He refuses to change. And the world does change. From being quaint, he now sounds pretty cranky.

There are a lot of good speeches in here, and when he deals with literature, he comes off pretty sound. It is when he approaches something he "instinctively" fears that he is at his worst.

Some of these works don't read very well, because they require the audience feedback and the tone of voice and the interaction between the two. Brabury doesn't write speeches like William James or Mark Twain did, and then again, very few ever did, or will do so again.

      Book Description

In 1975, Laszlo Toth, a U.S. citizen and then the director of technical research at the Great Western Sugar Company in Colorado, was visiting his native country of Yugoslavia to work on its continuing technical cooperation with other European nations. As part of this effort, he had agreed to provide photographs of a Yugoslav sugar plant.

During this visit to his home town of Vrbas, Toth was shocked to find himself arrested by the Yugoslav State Security, charged with spying as a CIA agent, tried in a "kangaroo court," and sentenced to seven years in the notorious maximum-security prison Sremska Mitrovica.

Stars Too Far describes his harrowing experiences and how the ensuing struggle for his freedom, involving such key figures as President Gerald Ford and Foreign Secretary Henry Kissinger, led to one of the lowest points in relations between the American and Yugoslav governments since World War II.

The story of his rescue and eventual release from behind the Iron Curtain provides new insight and unprecedented access into one of the fiercest diplomatic clashes between Tito's communist Yugoslavia and the Ford Administration.

"Dear reader, in this book you will find all the requisites necessary for a spy adventure -- car tailings, guns, merciless investigations, screams, teeth grindings, court actions, prison cells, etc. About deaths? Well there will be just one death... she used to be a powerful image, but -- after long, painful agonies -- she passed away. Her name was Justice. It all started on a warm July day in 1975...." -- from Stars Too Far

Stanley's career is the history of the development of the Dark Continent. He has, indeed, been called the Columbus of Central Africa, but the title is inadequate. He is more than a mere discoverer, for the scene of his many marvelous exploits has also been the center around which his highest hopes and deepest feelings have revolved.

                        Book Description

Environmentally sustainable business development is an issue of considerable interest to both the academic and policy communities. However, many of the books written on this subject have tended to neglect the important role played by local and regional factors in determining the successes or failures of attempts to achieve environmentally sustainable development.

Drawing upon case studies and other illustrative material, three major themes are explored: the origins and consequences of the major environmental problems that face economic activities; the major contextual and operational issues that confront business; and ways of improving the environmental performance and management of business and the role that such activities can play in local and regional development.

The overall structure of the book moves from the global to the local level. Detailed case studies on a local and regional scale illustrate the importance of local action in ensuring the greening of businesses and the contribution that environmentally responsible economic activities can make to achieving sustainable development.

                          Book Description

Public accountants are being attacked from all sides. Stock and bond holders, the United States Congress, the Securities and Exchange Commission, clients, and even members of the profession itself, all accuse accountants of failing in their watchdog duties as auditors and of approving financial statements that follow questionable accounting rules. Academic as well as other critics fault the profession for failing to innovate, particularly in respect to accounting for the effects of inflation. The attacks often take the form of litigation that has resulted in the payment of hundreds of millions of dollars in damages by firms and their liability insurers. This situation is not unique to the United States. Similar attacks can be observed in Canada, the United Kingdom, and other countries. Indeed, the viability of the external audit is today in question, as public accountants increasingly seek to avoid potentially ruinous engagements and diversify into other activities. Drawing on his long and extensive experience as both practitioner and academic, the author traces the history of accounting and auditing, analyzing the factors---domestic and international---that have led to the contemporary problems of the profession. He prescribes measures that can and should be taken in order to restore public accounting to its former status and esteem. He proposes major changes in federal and state legislation, the current system of accountancy education and training, accounting and auditing standard setting, and existing models of historical financial reporting. In addition, he presents a blueprint for a new type of financial report designed to improve the utility of financial statements for investment decisions.

Attention California pottery collectors: here's the book you've been waiting for! Jack Chipman, author of two editions of Collector's Encyclopedia of California Pottery and Collector's Encyclopedia of Bauer Pottery, has produced this new volume that covers many undocumented California pottery companies, including many that are not even mentioned in his Collector's Encyclopedia of California Pottery. Dinnerware, figurines, vases, and other floral containers are featured, including the very collectible animal and bird figurines. More than 700 photographs and archival material are presented in this new format that replicates the look of a scrapbook and all the interesting images found in them. It's organized chronologically by decade, starting with the 1930s and progressing to the present, grouped according to category of ware or type of item. Dimensions and mark information are provided for all items, as well as current collector values. In addition, there is a thorough index that will aid the collector. It's the perfect addition for your bookshelf and a fabulous tribute to this unique pottery. 2005 values. AUTHORBIO: Jack Chipman has collected California ceramics, particularly Bauer pottery, for over 20 years. He has published books on Bauer Pottery and California Pottery. He is also a talented fine artist who work is in the collections of several museums.

                                    4 out of 5 stars California Pottery.......2007-01-15

This book provides a nice overview of California pottery. Very good examples of the individual styles of the pottery makers of the 1930 - 1960. One major flaw - no Vernon wear is listed. I would also highly recommend the book, California Pottery second edition, by this same author, for an even more complete listing of CA pottery and the histories of the various pottery makers during their heyday.

I had high hopes for this book and was not dissapointed. Clear information, great pictures and love the catagorizing by the years! Am looking forward to more books by Jack Chipman

2 out of 5 stars Much Anticipated, Sadly Disappointed!.......2005-11-06

We were really looking forward to the release of this book, only to be sadly disappointed! Instead of categorizing the items pictured by the companies who produced them, they are set up by the production year, 1930s, 1940s, 1950s, etc! There is an index in the back but it's rather confusing and who wants to spend time flipping back and forth! Definitely NOT a user friendly book. I suppose you have to take different areas of the country into consideration but I've found the prices are totally unrealistic. Makes me wonder if Mr. Chipman is wanting to sell his collection! On the plus side, the pictures are good.

5 out of 5 stars A "find" for the ceramics enthusiast.......2005-09-18

"California Pottery Scrapbook" is a highly informative and well researched book. I loved seeing the names of Kay Finch and Gladding McBean who were well known in the Forties, and I was especially excited to see Beth Barton's works documented. Barton was one of the foremost artists in Southern California in the Forties. I own several treasured examples of her work, and I can say it is great fun to search for and find your favorite artist in the Scrapbook. The search is facilitated by the book's organizing the artist's works by decades from the 30's to the 60's and beyond. The photos and general quality of the book are first rate. It is a beautiful and valuable book, and anyone should be proud to have it on their coffee table.

                                    Book Description

This celebration of nine art dolls and the artists who made them offers a colorful look at an unusual project that spanned 19 months and took the dolls on a journey all over the United States. Each doll is a one-of-a-kind work of art, made by women who contributed something to each work-in-progress and offered unique perspectives on womanhood and images of dolls. Professional dollmakers as well as a quilt maker, a metalsmith, a woodcarver, and a sculptor created dolls that evolved into vivid characters as they traveled from artist to artist with handmade journals that served as a combination diary, travel log, and artist's canvas. From Joe the Wandering '60s Beatnik to a made-over Madeline sure to be kicked out of her French boarding school for her outrageous attire, each doll is accompanied by photographs, excerpts from the journals, and essays by the artists about the joys, challenges, and frustrations of working on the project.

This lavishly illustrated, full-color book starts out with the creation of nine art dolls and their makers. Every detail of the beautiful dolls is shown up close with general commentary on how they were put together.

The completed dolls were then sent on a 19-month journey from artist to artist and their travels were recorded in art journals that are also splendidly displayed in the pages of the book. The amount of creativity within both the dolls and the journals is staggering - I can't even put the proper words to it. This is one art book you will never regret buying.

                                                Book Description

The Integrative Family Therapy Supervisor is designed to meet the needs of today's new wave of family therapy and relational supervisors. Incorporating a process of self-exploration, this provocative text encourages readers to develop a model of supervision built upon the integration of theory, research, and regard for the uniqueness of clinical settings.

Robert E. Lee and Craig A. Everett, seasoned clinicians and supervisors, have skillfully incorporated a comprehensive synopsis of the various models of supervision and stimulating workbook exercises in a primer that is user-friendly and consistent with the learning objectives set forth by the American Association for Marriage and Family Therapy. The Integrative Family Therapy Supervisor will equip readers with the skills necessary for approved supervisor credential while advancing their ability to blend systemic theory with clinical practice in the context of personal and professional development.

I just took the AAMFT supervisor course and read this book in preparation for the course. It was well written, concise, informative, and at times, witty. The authors conveyed the basics of supervision and gave personal insights into how they supervise.

                                                  Book Description

What's the deal with Lauryn Hill and God? What's with the outlaw preacher persona of Johnny Cash? What about Moby's shout-outs to Jesus?

Nowhere else do faith and art intermingle so fluidly than in the ever-changing stream of popular music. For today's music-lovers, the influence of traditional religion is waning. The institutional church is fighting to remain RELEVANT. But personal spirituality and faith, particularly the kind espoused by our cultural icons are as respected and interesting as ever. In the cultural conscience, pop stars replaced preachers.

SPIRITUAL JOURNEYS looks deeper into the issue by exploring the spiritual lives of a dozen of the most intriguing members of our entertainment culture. From Bono to Beyonce, P. Diddy to T-Bone, it surveys the fasinating intersection of faith and art, from the fresh perspective of a new generation of spiritual seekers.

Before you think to yourself that just one person is saying this book stinks... but many have given it great reviews, look at the review dates. All these so called great reviews are done on the same day, or day after.I don't know when the book came out but, it's a little fishy. This is after the book has been out and really read. If you want to read a book that just names names for the good of selling it, here ya go. Anyone with a brain knows these musicians didn't have any contact with this author, he just makes general "guesses" from there music. If they say God, they really are praying, not singing, yeah right. You can't judge someone by the words in there songs, this author is part of the same christian right that wants "no Gay marriage", one of the icons he writes about being a great christian icon, Moby, doesn't even agree with that red neck view point. Scott Stapp has put on the creed website, Is Creed a Christian band?
"Are we a Christian band? This is a question we are asked a lot because of some of the references made in the lyrics. No, we are not a Christian band. A Christian band has an agenda to lead others to believe in their specific religious beliefs. We have no agenda! This is still found on there website under the FAQ's, maybe Scott Stapp doesn't know himself as good as these authors, Yes Scott, you are a christian band, you better just come to grips with it. Make no mistake about the term "Faith" in the title, they don't mean anything but christian, if Lenny Kravitz is into buddha, really it's just another cry from him to find Christ. No formal reserch done, full of bias views, junk with paper covers. These guys are making it rich off christian gossip, "have you heard the spritual news on this star"

                                                  Junk, trash, garbage
                                                  Thank You

5 out of 5 stars There and Back Again..........2003-09-10

A few months back, my landlady forced me to sit through an hour of CMT music videos so I could see this one funny video. An hour later, I hadn't seen the video she was looking for, but I was captivated by a video by Johnny Cash, "Hurt" - even more so when I saw it was written by NIN's Trent Reznor. A country legend covering an alternative ballad - quite a dichotomy.

Dichotomy seems to be the central theme of the latest Spiritual Journeys' tome from Relevant Books. Every artist profiled it seems has a problem reconciling their faith with their lives - much like what normal people go through. The authors cut through the fame and fortune shield and go right to the heart of the matter - the artist's struggle with faith and with a church that you would think should support them.

The book avoids the standard Christian rhetoric - in fact, it flat out defies it with it's honest look at real people and their rise to fame and the labors they engaged in to get there - both good and bad, avoiding the plastic-looking halos on the heads of the artists commonly associated with what has become known as contemporary 'Christian music.'

I should say here that I am not a big fan of the rap and hip-hop universes, but I still found the stories compelling enough to read, and, to be honest, was surprised by a number of the artists profiled. Having no experience with them other than hearing older people complain about their music, I had no idea some of them explored their faith the way they did.

I must mention a couple of caveats, though. The book focuses a little too strongly on dichotomies. The artists profiled all "walk the line" between good and evil, often choosing the incorrect path. I wish they had also included a few artists who tend to be a little less notorious, but still straddle both universes. Some stories I'd like to have seen explored include Bruce Cockburn, Charlie Sexton, Pierce Pettis, Michael Been and the Call, Tonio K., Vigilantes of Love, Sam Phillips, Van Morrison, and, as a guilty pleasure, Jon Bon Jovi. It seemed odd that the king of offensively embracing faith, "The Artist," was absent from the pages as well. Also, unfortunately for such a well-put together book there are quite a few typos, including passages where a member of a band or a music reviewer's name changes from one paragraph to another. Needless to say, it jarred the senses and made the book a little harder to read. Hopefully they will clear those up in the next edition.

Overall, Spiritual Journeys is a walk worth taking, especially if you are fans of Johnny, Lauryn, Moby, Wyclef Jean, Creed, Dylan, Kravitz, T-Bone, P. Diddy, Al Green, and Destiny's Child. (oh, yeah, and U2, although I'd recommend Walk On for a more in-depth look at the world's most famous band.)

                                                  Peace.

5 out of 5 stars Taking a Walk with Twelve Music Icons.......2003-08-25

"Spiritual Journeys: How Faith Has Influenced Twelve Music Icons" gives curious readers a clear look into the spiritual side of popular culture and is a perfectly delivered must-read for anyone who has any interest in the music world.

In a time when the public is informed of every step, breath, and blink of those in the spotlight, and the media floods us with details of business deals and band break-ups, romances and relationship strife, Spiritual Journeys gives readers a deeper look into the most intimate area of the lives of twelve icons of the music industry-their spirituality. Through deeply personal accounts of the life histories of various popular artists, readers of Spiritual Journeys will gain insight and a refreshing new perspective on the spiritual lives of this dozen.

The writers of Spiritual Journeys take readers on a journey of their own, past facades, and through deceptions and misbeliefs, into the core of the spiritual lives of some of the most well-know music artists of the past few decades. Through accounts of the spiritual travels of a group of very different musicians and performers, readers will experience challenges to their own faith, and very possibly a transformation of opinions, as we learn about the basic, and not so basic, belief systems of these stars.

We find that they are fallible human begins and, just like the rest of us, they are searching for meaning and purpose in their lives. That the longing to know something deeper, to have faith in something bigger than ourselves, is in all of us. These artists have spent their lives searching and digging into their roots of faith, often in a very public manner, to discover that which continues to shape them-their own personal spirituality. And each one has found something to hold on to.

If nothing else, the spiritual journeys of artists like Lauryn Hill, Scott Stapp, P. Diddy, and others reflect, and sometimes even trigger, our own spiritual pilgrimage. Their questions and the answers they've found are brought into the spotlight in Spiritual Journeys, and remind us that we're not alone in our search for the Truth, in our search for the oft-seeming elusive God who created us. Reading their stories encourages us to take an active role in our own spiritual journeys, asking questions, seeking answers, and walking out our faith, despite the mistakes we make or the wrong turns we take. Their examples teach us that eventually, no matter how hard we fight it, we'll find exactly what we've been looking for.

5 out of 5 stars A fasinating look "behind the music".......2003-08-21

Spiritual Journeys was so much more than I expected. It's basically a "Behind The Music" on each of these artists, but specifically telling the story of how faith has impacted each of their lives. I loved finding out about Wyclef's lifelong pulling between the influences of his Christian minister father and voodoo priest grandfather. Or, how faith has triggered the dramatic change in Lauryn Hill's life and career over the last few years. Or how Scott Stapp has questioned, tried to run from but never could quite shake the strong Christian home he was raised in. All of a sudden, I see so much more in Creed's music.

I hate sounding like a commercial, but I loved this book. It's thick, so I got my money's worth, but it's written in a way that if I wanted to skip a certain artist (I haven't read T-Bone Burnett's chapter yet because, well, I don't know who he is) I can. The best chapters belong to Bono, Bob Dylan, Lauryn Hill, Al Green and Lenny Kravitz.

If you've enjoyed any of these artists' music, you MUST get this book. It'll open your eyes to whole new levels in their art.

                                                  5 out of 5 stars microphone preacher.......2003-08-19

The lights flicker, the crowd is screaming young girls are fainting and the preacher steps up to the microphone! Clad in black leather with an attitude and blue tinted sunglasses holding his hands up in the air he sings

                                                  "I have climbed highest mountain
I have run through the fields
                                                  Only to be with you
                                                  Only to be with you"

Call it a product of our Post modern or Post-Post Modern culture or call it raw spirituality the fact is that church services are being held nightly in a 30,000 seat stadium with names like the "Cow Palace" or "The Garden". With our world reaching an ever-increasing disdain for the "traditional" the youth of today seems to be gleaning more theology from the current Pop Icons than from the man that some of them call Pastor.

"Spiritual Journeys: How faith has influenced twelve music icons" explores the personal journeys of the people that are shaping our culture one lyric at a time. From Bono to Moby and from Cash to Kravitz the reader is treated to a unbiased unapologetic look at the spiritual backgrounds of the most influential poetic singers and songwriters of the past as well as today's princes and princesses of pop. I'm sorry but until you become Dylan you still are just a Prince in my opinion.

I need to be honest with you I was scared to open the pages of this book because I thought that I was going to be forced to see the spiritual in things that were never meant to be spiritual. I thought I was going to have to read another article about how Creed is a "Christian Band". I thought that this was going to be one of those books that was written for the sole purpose of allowing a teenager to justify to their parents that it was OK to listen to P. Diddy because he is a "Christian". I am so happy to say that I was wrong. Instead it is an honest look at the good and the bad with a healthy dose of the ugly. It is an honest portrayal of the excesses of Rock and Roll while still making clear that redemption in Christ is available to all and furthermore that those who in one breath spew profanity can in the next breath praise Jesus.

This book is a beautiful glimpse into the human heart while giving a background that will help at least understand where some of the spiritual torment that we so often see in lyrics comes from. More than that though it is worship in the purest form. I almost wept when I read about the amazing "Paul-like" conversion of Al Green. I closed that chapter and just thanked God for being willing to grab us when we are running so hard from him. I thanked him that he caught me when I wanted nothing to do with him.

This book is a blessing in so many ways. Hopefully it will drive home the fact that God is a Sovereign God that can (and will) manifest himself in everything. Oh yeah and by the way Creed is not a "Christian Band" just thought I'd let you know.
