Most organizations find that an empowered team will improve the effectiveness of the IT auditing function. Such a team has the appropriate authority, resources, and skills to perform a project, determine the solution, and implement that solution without outside intervention. Audit management should establish certain guidelines for the teams to follow. Management may approve team assignments, but the team can use whatever resources are necessary to complete that assignment. Effective Use of Teams in IT Audits presents four approaches to ensure the effective use of teams: 1. Assessing team effectiveness. An auditing function can use a self-assessment document to determine whether it is using teams effectively. 2. Organizing and managing teams. Several suggestions are provided for staffing, organizing, and managing these teams. 3. Using teams to conduct reviews during an audit. This six-step approach uses peers to review peers, as opposed to supervisors to control subordinates. The review process provides checklists for use in conducting these peer reviews. 4. Using teams to improve audit processes. A detailed six-step improvement process is provided as a tool for improving audit processes. Team tools are significant ultimate team success. This book includes suggestions for building a team toolbox, and an appendix describing effective team tools.

The expanded new edition of a classic book collector's market guide provides full color and plenty of detail, updating prices for over 5,000 books and using charts to help identify first editions --which can be a tricky process, as publisher's marks vary from publisher to publisher. A new chapter on children's books has been added, while Top Ten lists of rarities and an alpha listing by author makes it quick and easy to use this as a take-along tote for flea market ventures.

Title Misleading.......2006-03-13

I bought, then returned this book. It may be a fine book for some but the word "Antique" in the title is deceptive. I am interested in antique books. Considering the fact that books have been published for centuries, a shotgun listing of books of relatively recent vintage may serve some well but was useless to me. Sorry, Mr. Russell. Better lose the "Antique Trader" title if you have another printing.

Lighten up a little, guys. The book is THREE years old, fer chrissakes! NO book, even Ahreans, is going to cover everything AND continually be up-to-date on the fluctuations of the market (and market values), but each reference book you purchase adds a little something to your knowledge based, and this one does as well. The chapter on pseud.s adds yet another dimension to the book seller's (and/or collector's) knowledge.

Provides pricing guidelines on specific items, but not very applicable to other metalware. I collect pewter mugs and steins, and found the publication of no help in this area.

I found everything I needed in the 19 categories included -- iron, zinc, aluminum, all with prices and helpful collecting tips. Not many of these books around. This is a good one!

I was so excited when I got this book. I thought it would educate me on what I needed to do for my child. It basically lays out the IEP process and doesn't give any indications on how to fight for services, which we all know is what usually happens. Find another book.

An Important Book.......2006-02-01

While this book doesn't tell you how to milk the system for all it's worth, it does a good job of laying out a plan that should help you and your child's teacher produce an optimal IEP. It's a helpful workbook that aids in the understanding and use of the IEP.

waste of time and money.......2005-04-20

Save your money....does nothing in the case of a difficult school district. The idea of "compromising and understanding" the teachers position is nice in a flowery perfect kind of world way....doesn't work when you are trying to get your kid the best you can.

Songs of the Unsung is the autobiography of Los Angeles jazz musician and activist Horace Tapscott (1934–1999). A pianist who ardently believed in the power of music to connect people, Tapscott was a beloved and influential character who touched many yet has remained unknown to the majority of Americans. In addition to being “his” story, Songs of the Unsung is the story of Los Angeles’s cultural and political evolution over the last half of the twentieth century, of the origins of many of the most important avant-garde musicians still on the scene today, and of a rich and varied body of music.
Tapscott’s narrative covers his early life in segregated Houston, his move to California in 1943, life as a player in the Air Force band in the early fifties, and his travels with the Lionel Hampton Band. He reflects on how the Pan Afrikan Peoples Arkestra (the “Ark”), an organization he founded in 1961 to preserve and spread African and African-American music, eventually became the Union of God’s Musicians and Artists Ascension—a group that not only performed musically but was active in the civil rights movement, youth education, and community programs. Songs of the Unsung also includes Tapscott’s vivid descriptions of the Watts neighborhood insurrection of 1965 and the L.A. upheavals of 1992, interactions with both the Black Panthers and the L.A.P.D., his involvement in Motown’s West Coast scene, the growth of his musical reputation abroad, and stories about many of his musician-activist friends, including Billy Higgins, Don Cherry, Buddy Collette, Arthur Blythe, Lawrence and Wilber Morris, Linda Hill, Elaine Brown, Stanley Crouch, and Sun Ra.

Even after falling in love with Vienna, his adopted city, Leon Zelman longed for his childhood home, the Polish shtetl Szcekociny. Like prewar Vienna, the shtetl was vibrant with Jewish history and culture until the Holocaust consumed it. Today, Zelman is proud of his dual identities: Jewish by birth, Viennese by a tragic twist of fate and then by choice. And although a piece of his life was lost, his memoir is less about loss than about recovery and, of course, survival. He places more emphasis on the life he made for himself after his experience in the Lodz ghetto and a series of concentration camps and after the period of painful readjustment as a teenager following Liberation.

Surrounded by many wartime enemies, Zelman has been instrumental nonetheless in rebuilding a Jewish community in Vienna. As a "public" Jew in Austria, he has walked a political tightrope for fifty years and has a unique perspective on displacement and postwar politics and here, in his memoir, he relates his experiences with the Waldheim affair, Bruno Kreisky, the World Jewish Congress, and Edgar Bronfman. In his capacity as informal diplomat and educator, Zelman has hosted thousands of Jews through the Jewish Welcome Service, and he continues to provide a bridge between the Jews (past and present) and new generations of Austrians.
