As someone who has been in the travel marketing business for almost 20 years, I found Plog's book contained information which confirmed my past marketing strategy and presented some new and very revealing concepts as well. This is a "Must-Have, Must-Read" book for all travel marketing professionals. I give it my highest recommendations!

This is the best book on destination marketing ever written........2004-02-06

As a travel professional with more than 30 years experience of tourism marketing I have never read a better book on destination marketing. Plog uses his more than 40 years of knowledge by mixing telling case studies with marketing theory. Some of the basic principles should be well known to practitioners, particularly the product life cycle of a destination but it is Stanley's use of real world examples which brings the book to life. And to my fellow directors of tourism, just read page 150 and you will immediately understand how knowledgeable Stan is.

The question is a little bit hard but the solution in the back of the book.

Disadvantages of Self-Study.......2000-06-13

Wiley's books are useful, but not suitable for a complete review. I found them to contain more information than was necessary. They did, however, contain a multitude of old CPA Examination questions. This was useful, but I feel that these books need to be used in conjunction with a reputable CPA Review Course. Test taking skills are not discussed in depth, as well as the confidence instilled by a review course.

Depending on your knowledge level in this subject area, these guides are loaded with lots of relevant information but it can be a bit intimidating at first. However, good study aid for the more senior knowledge level person.

A good source of CPA review information.......2000-09-16

The book is most helpful in the preparation for the CPA Exams. The sequencing of topics make it easy for students/reviewers to internalize principles and learn gradually as well. The answers with explanation at the end of every module provides relevant information for readers. At some point, CPA reviewers tend to appreciate more the explanation in every module than the answer itself.

The book is highly commendable. I recommend the 4 volume Wiley CPA Examination Review for future CPAs. It has worked for me and it can work for you as well.

There are patterns (templates and instructions) for 80 quilts, but the book would be worth it just for the quilt photographs (of collectible older Amish quilts). The colors and design are fabulous -- this is really an art book as much as a quilting book.

In addition, there are essays describing aspects of Amish life, with photographs to illustrate, and an attempt is made to connect the patterns on the quilts with the features and landscape of Amish life -- the center diamond, for example, is compared to a field waiting to be harvested as viewed from a certain angle.

I will treasure this book for years to come and plan to make some quilts using it.

I recommend this book to any experienced or inexperienced quilter--especially those who are interested in the Amish people. It has excellent, easy to follow patterns that are all about the same size, and it includes some beautiful quilting designs that are also easy to follow and easy to use. The ideas for color schemes and traditional Amish patterns are very useful. I especially liked the way pictures were included in order to illustrate the origins of certain quilt designs. For instance, a picture of a barn window is included with the pattern that represents a barn window. I found the religious themes in the book, and in the quilts themselves, very interesting. I really enjoyed using this book, and I am very satisfied with the quilt that I made using the patterns and designs provided in the book. This book is a helpful guide to quiltmaking, and the cultural information it includes is a very interesting supplement to anyone interested in quilt history or Christianity.

It's a beautiful book. I love the format - daughter writes a section, mother replies, mother writes a section, daughter replies. It brings about a wonderful comedic banter that isn't at all forced. I so envy that Perri and Sheila now has this wonderful memoir to pass on. It's a quick and easy read and I recommend it to anyone who enjoys their own mother or daughter immensly.

This was a great book all around about motherhood, mother/daughter relationship, women at the work place/career, fatherhood, wife/husband and how society's expectations change over generations. I love how the authors (Mother and Daughter) took turns writing her perspective and seeing how the Mother's behavior/upbringing influences her daugher forever, and influences how she decides to bring up her own children. It made me think a lot about my mother and how her mother brought her up; and how all of our choices/decisions/outcomes are heavily influenced by circumstances of the time.

Surprisingly interesting book. Was fast reading and was enjoyed by our book club of "ladies of a certain age" and my 33 year old daughter.

A wonderfully different mother/daughter memoir.......2006-07-30

It was such a treat to read this book! I love memoirs, but often you finish them feeling rather depressed about the state of relationships today. Here a mother and daughter who love and respect each other take turns writing about their lives together and apart. They are both authors, and so the writing is skilled, but warm and down to earth and never overblown and literary.

Some moments I especially enjoyed---how both mother and daughter spoke about how they never really learned to wear make-up or have their hair done---something I often feel very alone about as I share that trait! Perri making her mother a vest---her mother's reluctance to have any fancy or labor intensive done for her, and how the buttons cost $30, which Perri said she would never tell her mother and of course could not resist telling her right away! How both mother and daughter remember their husband/father---this book is a fine tribute to him. The tale of Bingo---the dumbest and most useless dog around---one of the only dog stories I've ever read that didn't end with everyone loving the hopeless mutt!

I almost missed reading this book, as the title and the cover dont't really describe well what it is---a memoir. I thought it was an advice book, or a book of stories of MANY mothers and daughters, not a specific pair. I am glad I read it anyway, based on my enjoyment of previous Klass books. It is a heartwarming book in the most true, non-sentimental way.

Funny, honest, heartwarming.......2006-05-07

Every Mother is a Daughter is a window, albeit a rose-tinted one, into the lives and the relationship of Perri Klass and her mother Sheila. They're both smart, funny, talented writers, and they speak on the ways in which they're alike and the ways they think they're not, and speculate on the reasons why that might be. Sometimes, though, it feels as if they skip over tough points and disagreements, and even when they try to criticize each other they turn that into a compliment to the other person and a put-down on themselves. The only exception to that rule is Sheila's mother, Perri's grandmother, who seems to get portrayed warts and all. Aside from that, this is a colorful, heartwarming portrait of the psyche of these two colorful, interesting women, and would make a great mother-daughter read.
PS. Those of you thinking of buying it because the word knitting is in the title, I'd think twice. It's not a knitting book. There is a pattern, but that's it. Go with "Two Sweaters for my Father" instead and there you won't be disappointed.

A story best understood by someone who has mourned........1999-03-20

We all need something to help us through our time(s) of mourning. This is a book that tells what the author chose as a focus to help her through her mourning period. I enjoyed reading of the author's struggle within her religious befiefs, yet the point went far beyond religion.
