Medical Practice Management Handbook 2000.......2001-02-24

This "handbook" is actually quite large and comprehensive. It covers areas relating to starting a practice (this section is especially helpful and includes a very realistic timetable from conception of a practice to seeing patients), enrolling with health insurance carriers both private and public, buy/sell agreements, employment, and retirement plans as well as many other things. With this book a physician has the resources available to start up a practice without incurring huge costs from a consultant. In addition to the text portion of the book, a CD-ROM is included with form letters and schedules to use as needed. I highly recommend this book for those individuals new and even not-so-new to solo/private medical practice.

I've only skimmed the book for content, not read it yet. I was seeking a book to help with internal controls for my husbands medical practice. I am a CPA. This book may be slightly light on that topic, but it was very comprehensive as to running a practice, not just the accounting side of it. After I read through this book I will probably be ready to run the office myself - doing everything but the operations! It was costly so I was apprehensive to buy it, but I think it'll be worth the cost.

The information is definitely valuable, but no where does it say that this book has a sticker price of $19.95 and this seller is selling it for over double the list price. I feel as though I have been ripped off

DIY'er saved hundreds of dollars.......2002-08-05

I had the time to spend building and the desire to not pay thousands for a new countertop, and Herrick Kimball's book made it possible. It is so clearly written, helpfully illustrated, and completely thorough that a great outcome is almost inevitable. I'm just a beginning DIY'er with no special skills or tools, but the final results rival the pros. I'm looking for more projects to do.

Easy to read and very comprehensive.......2000-11-24

I've taken several hands-on classes on laminate installation, and this book covers everything I saw there plus more. Worth every penny. Mr. Kimball knows his craft better than most of the "pro" teachers I've had, but the real bonus is he can communicate what he knows. No prior knowledge is assumed, and he covers everything from how laminate was invented to how to make a completely invisible seam and the tools you need to do the job easily. If you're unsure of whether to do the job yourself, this is your book. Great stuff! P.S. He also has a great book on cabinet refacing!

A one-of-a-kind book for the DIYer........2000-10-13

I can echo all the author's comments. If you've tried to get any material from anywhere on installing High Pressure Decorative Laminate (Formica, Wilsonart, etc.) about the most you will find is a 2 or 3 page book of fundamentals for people whose tools fit in a small toolbox. After doing several laminate projects, I decided there must be more to know. This is the book that does it.

This book covers the options, the materials, the techniques, and some of the reasons why things are done the way they are. Chock full of pro tricks and methods.

I can recommend this book for an intermediate-to-advanced artisan who wants to learn more about laminates.

confirmation and fine tuning of what I thought I knew.......1999-12-08

Very good book...Herrick uses a bit of trades people light hearted humor to bring home points. He tells you how he does different things and why. He also shows the different ways laminate work can be done. I had taught myself 12 years ago and always wondered how " the pro's " did it.I found out that I was doing just fine but he showed me little things that made my work better and helped me to feel that I was doin it like the pro's. He also answered the questions I had about those special attachments that I had with my router kit, that I really wasn't sure about. I easily read the book and felt that this was the kind of guy I could know and work with. If you do not know laminate work, then this book makes it easy to get started and do it right the first time. As a custom wood worker, I recommend this book to the novice as well as the expierenced. Rick Williams

fantastic writing from an obscure drummer........2007-02-12

along with bob dylan's "chronicles volume one," this is one of the two best music books i have ever read. mr lankford writes about his experiences on the road as a white drummer in an otherwise black blues band with great skill and wonderful narrative sense. this is a completely enjoyable book that i would recommend you best read soon.

I can only echo the sentiments of other reviewers when I beg Mike Lankford to write some more.

Even if you have no interest in the subject matter, Lankford's fluid style will thrill you to the end. We start with his love affair with rock music & drumming, the numerous bands he was in as a youth and conclude with a series of anecdotes regarding his time in a small touring every-band with a couple of ageing yet highly-talented black guys who needed a drummer. Brilliant!

Road stories for the rest of us.......2004-06-21

I've loaned this book to several of my fellow musicians (most of whom have seen a little time on the road) and most of them have since bought copies for themselves. I've also recommended the book to my son, who has visions of a life in a rock band (and whom I feel hypocritical in trying to dissuade since it was my young adult dream, too). Mike's book speaks directly and honestly about the life of the journeyman musician and the danger and boredom that it entails. But at the same time, he conveys the wonder of a young teenager discovering the magic of the music. This book makes great reading for those who've been there and for those who could have been contenders.

Mike Lankford creates such a vivid picture of life on the road that I actually feel myself being tossed about in the back of that van he writes about. My only confusion: Why haven't we gotten another book from this guy?!

This is a musician's biography that soars above its genre. The writing is so good that truth loses importance. Life meets art. If another book is not forthcoming from Mike Lankford soon, he should be incarcerated for squandering a national treasure.
