Just a small sampling of items pictured........2007-07-09

The pictures are beautifully done, but most all of them have only one collectible in each picture. The front cover led me to believe the book would contain photos of Christmas villages or settings, not individual santas or angels. I walked away from the book feeling like it was just a small sampling, not enough to do a whole book on.

A little gem of book.......2006-12-27

Ralph Del Pozzo and David High take readers back to Christmas past in their book, CHRISTMASLAND. The book contains a charming display of vintage Christmas figurine decorations that probably date back to the 1940s to 1960s as well as commentary from the authors. Del Pozzo and High share little tidbits of popular Christmas history that reference origins of the most familiar figures and traditions that occur during holiday -- Rudolph the red-nosed reindeer, Frosty the snowman, the artificial Christmas tree, candy canes, and many others.

Del Pozzo and High show their creative expertise in the fields of photography and design to conjure up the joys of Christmas past. With creativity, they recreate and bring to life a miniature winter wonderland, which magically displays ornamental objects that usually were not meant to be set up in a play-like fashion, but may have been displayed in a shadow box or on the kitchen table -- a snowman salt 'n' pepper shaker and collectible reindeers that were originally attached to a cardboard promotional recording disc of the Rudolph the red-nosed reindeer song. The figurines may have also fit perfectly with a train set village. And the most interesting aspect about the book is that most of the items exhibited in the book come from Del Pozzo's and High's personal collections, which they have accumulated throughout the years from childhood to the present.

CHRISTMASLAND will enchant the child in everyone. There's a chunk full of elves, angels, nativity figures and church steeples, and Old Saint Nick in different forms for all to enjoy. So, for those who remember the old five and dime stores, most of the items displayed in the book will and bring back memories of Christmas past.

Even if you're not particularly sentimental about Christmas, the images and recollections of the authors are a delightful experience. The photos and graphics are charming and magical, obviously done by people who truely love the Christmas season. Anyone can appreciate the vintage flavor of this little gem.

This book brings back so many great memories of Christmas and decorating the tree. It was so much fun reading and looking through every page for ornaments that we might have had on our trees over the years and seeing the many different kinds of ornaments. The perfect gift for bringing back all those childhood memories. Any babyboomer rejoice! You will find this book filled with beautful pictures of those ornaments not only found on your own childhood tree, but perhaps your grandparents as well. As a child I remember the importance each Christmas season of unpacking those precious ornaments and hoping not to find one broken. I no longer have any those ornaments but I will always have the memories of such ornaments inside this wonderful little book. The pictures are just beautiful!

I could rave for hours about the combined beauty and simplicity inside this book. I like it so much I'm presently ordering it for xmas! This book is so easy to use it would be appropriate for someone wanting to create elegant yet simple gifts or items etc in polymer clay. Yet because of the simplisticness of Marie's writing it can be folllowed by apsolutely anyone. From beginner/intermediate to expert.

Polymer Clay Creations by Marie Segal is a GREAT book!.......2004-02-10

Marie Segal's Polymer Clay Creations is just about my favorite polymer clay book, and I own about 15 polymer clay books. This book has 11 easy projects you can do, and they are easy, the instructions are easy to follow, and the results are awesome! I did two of her projects as a newbie clay person, and they are among the best I've done.

I definitely recommend this book to clayers of all levels, your results will be great no matter if you are a beginning or experienced clayer.

As a newbie in polymer clay, this book was a tremendous help. The photos and text have a clean "uncluttered" look to it that don't overwhelm the reader. The projects are simpler than they look and well described by Marie. The only thing missing would be "outtakes" of Marie!!

Beginner's book.......2003-12-05

This book is probably interesting and useful for beginner clay projects, but with one exception, it is virtually useless to advanced clayers. I was disappointed in the book.

Loved what I saw so I bought it way ahead of time..........2000-04-25

My son is only 10 months old but when I saw this book I knew it would bring us hours of enjoyment when he is older. Right now my mom is using it for her daycare until I need it for my son. The activites provided are creative, simple, and fun as well as many of them providing a learning experience. I especially like some of the "golden oldies" that are resurected in this book. I can't wait until my son and I can explore these activities together. I hope to try them all.

Tawdry, cheap, and utterly not worth your time........2005-01-08

If you're looking to learn about Sting, this is not the book for you. It reads like a cheap tabloid story, quoting anonymous sources for wild accusations, being downright mean to its subject (and also Sting's former bandmates in The Police, Stewart Copeland and Andy Summers). While Sting may have his share of skeletons in his closet and has no doubt lived a wild life, there is little in this book to lead you to actually believe the stories Clarkson tells. Reading this book also left me feeling vaguely uneasy and embarassed, as if I was taking part in spreading and giggling over naughty, mean-spirited gossip like teenage girls in a schoolyard. It's just that juvenile. NOT recommended.

Clarkson's Sting biography is a hack.......2004-11-21

This writer's 1999 rendering of Sting's life is pitiful. Its "Hardline"/docudrama treatment of Sting's experiences make what would be a compelling, intriguing topic an absolute bore. Do not read this book.

Superfluous.......2003-11-16

After Sting has published his own autobiography Broken Music this month, this so-called "complete biography" on Sting has made itself superfluous....Sting beats Wensley Clarkson in style, authenticity and truthfulness. Readers may look at it as a kind of reference to Broken Music, but they'll discover quite quickly that Wensley Clarkson nearly got everything wrong which, of course is to blame partly on questionable sources - British tabloid papers.

Don't waste your time or money.......2001-12-10

This is by far the worst book ever written about Sting. Just by reading it you can tell that the author does not like Sting at all. Sting himself even said the book was (bad)and that none of it is true. So if you are a Sting fan or just want to learn more about the man, don't buy this book, get the "all this time" dvd and you can actually see what of person he is.

Great for a first timer!.......1999-09-10

I had never had the opportunity to read any type of in depth articles or biographies about the life of Gordon Sumner prior to this biography. For this reason, I am rating this book with 5 stars. If you've been hungry for something for quite a few years, and you've finally been given a small taste of it, it is going to be quite satisfying. This small piece of such a great mans life was certainly satisfying for me.
