Lots of info!!!.......2001-04-28

Having recently moved to Florida from New York, I wanted to take the time to explore a little but didn't know where to start. This book does a good job of describing the many different areas to see and things to do all over the state. Good maps and brght pictures are all through the book. Now I have plenty of places I want to go see if I could only find the time........

Every page has a color picture on it! Divided by neighborhoods, it has great maps and walking tours. Excursions outside of Miami to National Parks and Fort Lauderdale are included. The different islands of the Keys are discussed in detail. There is also a section on hotels by price range and restaurants.

What a gorgeous book!.......2000-04-12

Usually with a travel guide, you need to use your imagination. You can't actually see what attractions look like, the maps aren't always clear and the descriptions are as short and succinct as possible.

That is definitely not the case with this book which is stuffed chock full of gorgeous pictures. The maps are colorful and detailed. Full pages are spent on various attractions and excursions that in other guideboks are written up in a mere paragraph.

The book I have been looking for around 5 years!.......2007-09-08

He makes the argument that the Old South, its finest intellectual hour seen in Thornwell, was much superior intellectually than the North. By the way, this is published by the scholarly Mercer University Press, so it ain't no hick from the sticks writing.

Thornwell also warned of the coming religious crisis, that which we call the Civil War. While criticizing unbiblical aspects of Southern slavery, he primarily warned against the rising humanistic and unitarian tide from the North which would overwhelm the South, not only militarily, but also--and more deadly--spiritually.

If I can restate the thesis in different terms: with the fall of the Confederacy, we saw the last bastion of a thoroughly Christian civilization destroyed. America would move from a decentralized republic to a consolidated Empire (which subsequent decades proved chillingly).

This is Great "Her"story.......2006-03-14

I was given this book when I was a freshman in architecture college. When I saw Ms Sklarek, I immediately wrote the publisher and got her addres and wrote her a letter. To my surprise she wrote back to me and her later inspired me to continue studying architecture. Now...17 years and three degrees later I came across her name again during a conversation and I decided to contact her again and again, she sent me her business card. Since our architectural firm has a committee that procures speakers, I plan to invite her to my firm to give a presentation on Women in Architecture. So, I said all that to say...not only should we find our mentors, but we should also communicate with them whenever we can.

I was blessed to recieve this book in 1990 as a gift from a dear friend. Throughout the years this book has been a form of encouragement in my daily life through various things. Once my daughter turned ten we sat down together and read through I DREAM A WORLD, She was captivated. I have now passed this book on to my daughter and she proudly displays it in her room with trophies, clay art, pictures, and souviners.

I Dream a World is inspiring in its beautiful photography and the brief stories it shares about the women in the pictures. While it touches on their life stories, this book shares these women's thoughts. That is what draws me closer to this book each time I open it. The women inside, and the book itself, will make you think about your dreams and encourage you to work towards them.

No matter what your race or gender, give this book to anyone who needs encouragement. I especially enjoy recommending this book to young women who can learn a lot from the women within its pages.

I DREAM A WORLD is a most excellent book. The photographs of the women are like portraits of their souls. What makes this book so wonderful is that each woman's story is told in her own words. This is more of the real history. Everyone should read this book because it is not only black history or women's history, it is American history.
