Accountants' Handbook.......2000-06-19

Working in public accounting for a long time, but beeing new to the accounting world in the U.S., I found this book very instructive and helpful to resolve practical questions on one hand and finding access to the underlying "World of Statements", the scientific backbone, at the same time.

First it offers a red thread through most of the relevant areas of accounting and financial reporting. But even more important, the book contains a reliable and quick guidance to find solutions for a lot of different actual practical issues, occurring in specific industries and situations.

This is a fascinating and touching first-hand account of the struggles of an honest hard-working railroad man through the upheavals of the War and its aftermath. Despite his difficulties in an era without strong unions, he touchingly pays tribute to the capitalists who took the risks to build the railroads and give him work.

Excellent Account of the Rails during the Civil War.......1999-08-31

Excellently written and arranged. I actually am a former student of Dr. Ward, and love the way he writes, capturing the reader with an excellent account on the subject.

This book renewed my marriage!.......2004-09-16

My husband & I had a long standing issue in our marriage that would flair up every so often & cause pain & heartache. We are volunteers for a national Christian marriage conference, Christians (remarried), & had sought counseling over the years for this issue. Our last counselor recommended this book, & in particular the last chapter, which details how to "divorce" the marriage you now have & renew your vows. That was over 3 years ago, & the issue has NEVER resurfaced, & we are more in love now after 15+ years, thanks to Stephen Schwanbach.

Direct and to the point.......2002-04-04

A counselor gave us photocopies of some of the pages of this book to read, because we were BOTH guilty of being stubborn spouses! Both of us had been married before, and had brought alot of "excess baggage" into this marriage. Like many remarrieds, we needed to hear what Stephen had to say. We actually bought two copies of the book from Amazon and each read the chapters that applied to ourselves. Without divulging the final chapter, we followed the advise and counsel provided, and re-committed our marriage on our anniversary .... I have to say that it was powerful, meaningful, and binding. We feel more committed and more in love than we did on our wedding day thirteen years ago. Anyone who can identify with being stubborn, selfish, or self-centered in their marriage relationship should read this book. It is a real eye opener, and stops thoughts and threats of divorce dead it in tracks. And if you know of a couple struggling in their marriage, with all the "right" reasons and excuses why they should divorce, this book is for them!

So glad that this is back in print!--else my friend might not have got her copy back that I borrowed. This is THE best marriage book I've ever read. Original, insightful, practical, very true to life, very Biblical.

This is a fantastic book that will change the mind of anyone considering divorce. It provides a balanced look at any excuse one might have for pursuing a divorce. And its so well-written with humor interjected that I found myself laughing out loud. Easy, informative, and enjoyable reading!

Dr. Jones is screaming out to know the "real love" of God. This book is full of negative comments about people God has used and continually uses to this day.

Please Read THe Book.......2001-05-30

To anyone that will read this book you will find an honest report of the activities and people that I met through my years of participating in the world of Gospel Music. Nothing is said or done to highlight the negative. The book must be read with a tone of frankness. Good readers can appreciate that. I love Gospel Music and all the people that came forth to make it happen. Some of the information was the results of situations that occured as long as twenty years ago. Please read the entire book or you may come away with a different point of view. I make no apologies for my own observation of individuals mentioned in my book but none were mentioned to bring attention to them. The attention is to be placed on me for my millions of fans to find out more about me. To know me is to love me. I am honest, loving, God fearing, and definately in love with Jesus. Please read with an open mind! God has been good to me and I want to share with others how the Lord will bless you even when you have gone through many challenges. Some people read some of the book and thought I was trying to put someone down. That is not the truth read all of it and you will see that I lift everyone that I met on my way to twenty-five years. I love you all and thank God that through BET TV, we were able to present gospel music to the world.

Very disappointed!.......2001-03-24

I definitely don't recommend this book because Bobby Jones slanders people that he associated with and great gospel artists. I HAVE read the whole book and just taking a few parts out doesn't make it any better. Yes, thank God for Dr. Jones and what he has done for gospel music, but right is right and wrong is wrong, particularly when you're talking about other people. I found most of his comments insulting. He seems to have a "high and lifted up" attitude just because of he has high degrees and most other folks in gospel don't. He said a lot of things he should have kept to himself. That's why I don't understand why people are saying this book is great. Saints, please keep this man in your prayers.

Anyone who knows anything about gospel music knows that Dr. Bobby Jones is the King of the Road. His Saturday night gospel show has since I was in suspenders been the only way for me to watch gospel music stars doing their stuff. Now, reading his remarkable memoir, I realize how hard life has been for Bobby and how easy he makes it look on his show and off. I loved all these behind-the-scenes stories of everyone from Louis Farrikan and the Rev. Jesse Jackson to all the top gospel talents in the industry.

In the late fifteenth century, many of the Jews expelled from Spain made their way to Morocco and established a dynamic community in Fez. A number of Jewish families became prominent in commerce and public life there. Among the Jews of Fez of Hispanic origin was Samuel Pallache, who served the Moroccan sultan as a commercial and diplomatic agent in Holland until Pallache's death in 1616. Before that, he had tried to return with his family to Spain, and to this end he tried to convert to Catholicism and worked as an informer, intermediary, and spy in Moroccan affairs for the Spanish court. Later he became a privateer against Spanish ships and was tried in London for that reason. His religious identity proved to be as mutable as his political allegiances: when in Amsterdam, he was devoutly Jewish; when in Spain, a loyal converso (a baptized Jew).

In A Man of Three Worlds, Mercedes García-Arenal and Gerard Wiegers view Samuel Pallache's world as a microcosm of early modern society, one far more interconnected, cosmopolitan, and fluid than is often portrayed. Pallache's missions and misadventures took him from Islamic Fez and Catholic Spain to Protestant England and Holland. Through these travels, the authors explore the workings of the Moroccan sultanate and the Spanish court, the Jewish communities of Fez and Amsterdam, and details of the Atlantic-Mediterranean trade.
