Book Description
From youth to adulthood, Rob Littell spent 20 years alongside John F. Kennedy Jr.-through laughter and sorrow, joy and heartbreak. Now in this moving and poignant memoir of their touching friendship, Rob Littell shares his story with listenersRob Littell was a freshman at Brown when he met JFK Jr. Although Littell came from a privileged background, it was worlds apart from the glamorous life of the son of the late President and Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis. Eager to be accepted on his own terms, Kennedy responded to Littell's irreverence toward his celebrity and they became close friends. Littell recounts dinners at Jacqueline Onassis's apartment-where she surprised him with his favorite of specially burned hamburger-and weekends at her retreat in Martha's Vineyard, where she critiqued their touch football. As students, Littell and Kennedy bummed around Europe. Later, they shared apartments in New York. Later still, Littell was part of John's secret wedding to Carolyn Bessette on Cumberland Island, Georgia and three years later a pallbearer at his funeral. This is an intimate, detailed and affectionate memoir of an unusual young man by a close friend.
Customer Reviews:
It was a good book.......2007-09-08
I bought this and am usually weary of so called friend books, but this was a good one.In some area's I had to Laugh because of some of the things they did but all in all its a memory a friend wanted to write about and Share.I Love the book.
John-John we needed you..........2007-05-29
It's funny how Rob had no hope upon hearing the news about John's plane missing. I can remember the sinking feeling myself and the word NO! bouncing around in my head. This story is nicely written and the author gave just enough and not too much. Although I was born in the late 60's I grew up knowing the Kennedy name immediately. In fact my father has not recovered since November of '63. We needed John whether or not he was to be President. This man, while living under the same moon as the rest of us made us feel better somehow...maybe that Camelot was not completely lost. The author speaks of John and Carolyn being "buried at sea" even though John was not a seaman...he was our first son and I think we owed that much to the Kennedy family and it seemed appropriate although like Rob said there is no visiting place to go and reflect on John. So, swim Rob.
Thank you author for this good look inside. Get it enjoy it.
The Men We Became: My Friendship with John F. Kennedy, Jr........2007-05-12
This is a great book written by a friend about a good friend. Easy reading, but with a lot of insight on the extended Kennedy family from an outsider's view. I highly recommend it.
A Good Read.......2006-10-29
This story made me laugh, brought back really exact memories of college life I'd forgotten and allowed me to travel to places the author and John went for fun. I think it is important the human side of John is written about and his friend did him a great honor by doing so in this book.
walking with them.......2005-10-07
I, like so many Americans, grew up with John as we were born the same year. I always felt as if I knew him somehow and now I see that he is very much as I expected...as I walked with Littel down memory lane, I felt like I was back in college and I was getting to know a couple of guys who are oh-so-normal yet one with the unimaginable burden of being the child of an American Icon.
I also felt as if Littel really did want to capture his memories by putting his thoughts on paper. I never felt as if this book was a sell-out...I think John may have enjoyed the read too or perhaps at least given his buddy hell for having written it.
Bottom line...loving insight into a friendship of 20 years and how that friendship shaped both young men.

The Fords: A personal look.......2007-05-12
The uniqueness of this book is that it focuses on the personalities of Henry Ford, his son Edsel and his granson, Henry II. The history of Ford Motor Company is presented as an outgrowth of these porsonalities. As a career Ford employee, it is my opinion that Ford Motor Co. has always reflected the personalities of those in charge to a somewhat greater extent than other large corporations. So the author's approach is particularly appropriate. And it works well. This is an absorbing book for anyone with an interest in the Ford family in relation to the growth and decline of Ford Motor Company and, motre widely, the business in the twentieth century.
An interesting telling of the first three generations that built and ran the Ford Motor Company.......2005-09-05
This book recounts the origins and life of the Ford family from the rise of Henry Ford, the founding the great automotive company, its ebbs and flows, through the reign of Henry Ford II. It reads very well and has a great deal of interesting information.
One of the difficulties in writing a book like this is how to balance the personal details with the epic story of the global corporation. I believe Collier and Horowitz pull off the balance quite well. However, when this book came out there was a great deal of discussion about the womanizing that the family worked hard to keep out of the public eye. Some condemned this book because of these intimate details. Some claimed they were fabricated. Nowadays, given what we know about public versus private lives, it probably would not raise many eyebrows.
The life of Henry the Great is fascinating because of his genius and his limitations. His son Edsel has a story that is as tragic as any you might read in fiction. Henry II was given the task of saving the family company and with the team he built around himself he did an admirable job. The battles with Lee Iacocca may be slipping into ancient history, but it is still a very interesting story in the history of corporate governance. The recounting of Henry II's divorces and such may be fairly petty and is certainly not as important as his missing the real threat of the Japanese car companies.
The book is now almost twenty years old, but it still has its merits.

Great memory book.......2007-07-17
My mom first told me about this book - she picked it up at a rummage sale. I decided to buy one for each of our kids' grandparents and send them to them for Christmas. They were all thrilled with the book, and they're excited to fill it out. I can't wait until we get them back this Christmas. It's a great idea for passing along information from one generation to another. We live overseas, and our kids only see their grandparents every-other year, or sooner if they come over to see us. I never knew my grandparents, and I wish I had something like this, sharing their lives with me. I also bought a set for a friend who's son was killed in Iraq, leaving behind a 6-month old son. Since their link to their grandson was gone, they were very touched to have a way to leave their memories for their grandson.
Looking forward to filling in this book.......2007-04-23
Our first grandchild was born one year ago, so I purchased both the Grandma and Grandpa books so husband and I could sit down and fill these out together. He balked at first, but then I asked him if he wouldn't love to have one of these filled out by HIS grandparents, and he agreed this will be time well spent. Very sturdy little book with a wonderful range of questions that are sure to cause old memories to resurface. I hope my grandson and future grandchildren will enjoy reading about us!

It was a wonderful time to grow up in my hometown. Things were easy for the poor and rich, as we were equal in the talent contests and given a chance with or without a mother there pushing for her kid. Dean Martin was one of the best singers, but Eddie Fisher was my singer and I was president of "The Fisher Notes." I wrote a review of his latest memoir which is not NTA, meaning no one can read or vote one way or the other. I put a lot of effort in my reviews, so here it is:
Janet Dailey now lives in Branson, Missouri, the place Deana Martin also calls her new hometown.

Writing is magical. The empty page is where you start to put together the disparate parts of your life. Once you put it down on paper, you can figure out how all your plans can start to come together. This is a fairytale of a little girl who never growed up. She lived with her mother in a big house in a fancy neighborhood in Pasadena. Her father had a fanciful career in movies and on television; his downfall was not drinking, as we were led to believe, but Lainze Kazan on one of his musical review shows. She was a regular and he certainly perked up and his eyes would light up when he talked about how beautfiul she was. He was part of a duo which dissolved, and he was much better on screen without his partner. Part of the Rat Pack, a broup of irrational performers in Las Vegas, he lost himself and became a bum. If you believe that this book was written out of love or devotion, you are absolutely wrong. She used it merely to get on a radio network who panders to half-way talent and has-beens to make a career on the back of her famous father.
His son wrote 'That's Amore" another of his songs. His didn't sell well, as this one did not. It was given away on that same network where they have appointed a "host" which just shows how far it has fallen. She would not be deemed a singer with another name. He died in dire circumstances with no family support, and it is a shame this writer has to stoop to obtaining a career on the demise of a famous singer. Maybe he would sit up and appauld, but I think he would turn in his grave at the injustice of this travesty. Since my first review was lost, this is just a resume. Too bad you couldn't read what I said.
She has made a career off of her dad's fame and has just about taken over MYL. She is a fraud with very little talent, certainly is not a star like her dad she abandoned and never will be. If she were so great, why on earth is she stuck in Branson, Missouri, answer me that! She is making tons of money off her dead dad and he is not here to defend himself. It's a dirty shame.
The Fifties were good to Dean Martin, Frank Sinatra, Eddie Fisher and other male singers; females didn't do so well. But it was a grand time to grown up and go off to college. Life was worthwhile then, not as the poor verses the rich in today's world.
A wonderful gift to give.......2006-08-06
My grandson and his wife gave me this book last Christmas and i have had a ball writing in it. I have since purchased 7 copies to give to my children and friends and everyone says they are finding it very entertaining to be reminded of their childhood and growing up years.
treasured.......2005-10-01
i gave this to my grandmother when i was in college. she past away soon after i graduated, but this book is a wonderful keepsake. everytime i pull it out it brings back great memories. i only wish that i had gotten it for her sooner so that she could have finished it. the questions are about her past, things that i would have never known. love it and will cherish it forever!!

Book Description
Tell Me, Grandmother is at once the biography of Goes-in-Lodge, a traditional Arapaho woman of the nineteenth century, and the autobiography of her descendant, Virginia Sutter, a modern Arapaho woman with a Ph.D. in public administration. Sutter adeptly weaves her own story with that of Goes-in-Lodgewho, in addition to being Sutter's great-grandmother, was first wife of Sharpnose, the last reigning chief of the Northern Arapaho nation.
Told in a question-and-answer format between twenty-first-century granddaughter and matriarchal ancestor and, Sutter discusses four generations of home life, including child rearing, education, courtship, marriage, birthing, and burial. Goes-in-Lodge speaks of social and ceremonial gatherings, the Sun Dance, the sweat lodges, and the changes that took place on the Great Plains throughout her lifetime. Sutter's portrait of Goes-in-Lodge is based on tribal history and interviews with tribal members. Sutter details her own life as a child born in a teepee to white and Indian parents and the discrimination and injustice she faced struggling to make her way in an increasingly Euro-American world.

Best Book I Have Ever Read.......2001-02-03
This book really got me the knowledge that I needed about my family since I am a descendant of Sam and Jane Livington. It was a part of me that I never knew was missing. Each year in August, there is a family reunion of the Livingstons and Howse's, held at Fort Victoria, just south of present day Smokey Lake, Alberta. I went last year and got the chance to meet more of my unknown relatives. Since, I have really gotten into my family genealogy and have found out alot of my family past that dates back to the early 1700 when the family came from England to Canada.

Book Description
Henry Lawes (1596-1662) has long been acknowledged as the most important and prolific English songwriter between the death of John Dowland in 1626 and the birth of Henry Purcell in 1659. He is celebrated as Milton's collaborator in Comus (1634). Although he wrote some church music, Lawess significance as a composer lies in his settings of many of the choicest lyrics by Cavalier poets such as Carew, Herrick, Suckling, and WallerDSwho, like Lawes himself, belonged to the brilliant court of Charles I. This book combines an account of his life with a study of his development as a songwriter during this fascinating historic period. Following the execution of the King in 1649, Lawes played an important part in establishing concerts in London during the 1650s, and was one of the composers of the first English opera, Davenant's The Siege of Rhodes (1656). At the Restoration he set Zadok the Priest for the coronation of Charles II, but died the following year. The last book on Lawes appeared in 1940, since when the importance of his songs has been increasingly recognizedDSthanks in part to Ian Spink's own previous study, English Song: Dowland to Purcell (1986), and his edition of Cavalier Songs: 1625-1660 for Musica Britannica.

Book Description
"It's a terrible feeling to see the fate of thousands of people dependent on a single person. . . . It seems like a mass judgment to me: life or death."On December 17, 1941, twenty-year-old Eva Maacute;ndlovaacute; arrived at the Nazi's "model" concentration camp, Theresienstadt. From that day until she was freed three and a half years later, she kept a diary. At times sweet and personal, at times agonized and profound, Eva is a human voice amidst inhuman evil.Through Eva's eyes, the camp sometimes "even resembles normal life," as she makes friends and talks with Benny, or Egon, or Otto. But at any moment, anyone may be "selected" for a transport to "Poland." No one ever returns from "Poland."Never before published, Eva's diary is a true-life Sophie's Choice in which each day brings impossible decisions. As a Gentile man inexplicably helps her, Eva must decide who should share her bounty. As close friends and loved ones are sent away, she has to decide, over and over again, whether to ask to join them on their final journey.
